I became a Playmate in June 1989 and
it's been great.

I've been places and I've done things
that I never thought possible.

Although it's fun, it is a lot of hard
work.

Playmates travel on promotions, making
personal appearances at conventions,

trade shows, and other special events
from Boise to Bakersfield.

But once in a while, our work takes us
to exotic, faraway places of unmatched

beauty. Once in a while, we playmates
get to go to paradise.

I've been a playmate since 1986 and I've
been all over Europe. I went to Italy,

Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France.

It's very tough, you know, going to
Acapulco, Puerto Rico. Now I'm in Puerto

Rico, now I'm going to Canada. It's very
tough.

Puerto Rico

is

an exceptional promotion. First of all,
the location is like...

heaven or paradise.

It's beautiful here. You like the beach
and you like the sun. This is a great

place.

First, you're going to try on everything
that's in your pile.

See what fits.

Separate what fits from what doesn't,
okay? Because if you start changing and

intermixing, we've got everything
organized. If something doesn't fit,

then we'll go down to the shop and get
you something else to try on.

Okay, don't start changing with the
other girls because then everything will

expected to be asked to do a centerfold.

I did the pictorial, and I thought that
would be it. I had never even expected

to get chosen for that.

I was in Chicago. I called home and
asked my mom about it, and everybody

said it was okay, so I did.

And Sue, are you going to have male
models again this year? No? Okay.

Boys never came to my house because
everybody knew I had five older

brothers.

They were afraid to.

Actually, the first time someone came to
my house to pick me up, they were so

nervous to knock on my door that he
beeped the horn, and all of my five

brothers and my mom were there.

And they, like, held me on the couch and
said, You're not moving.

until he knocks on the door, so that was
an experience, but not a lot of boys

knocked on my door at home.

Before I was a playmate, I used to throw
out Playboy magazines, and then when no

one was around, I'd look at them and
wish that I could be one.

And then someone else submitted my
pictures, and that's how I became a

playmate, because I wasn't, you know, I
don't know, I was worried about my mom

and my dad and when I have kids.

All that stuff. You know, not that I
missed morality or anything, but I was

just worried how society would accept
it.

You know, just people.

Now I don't care.

If you don't like it, then get away from
me.

Because there's plenty of people that
do.

It's flattering, actually.

I mean, you know, that people actually
come up and wait in line to have a

picture of you. I mean, I'm not famous.
I'm not a movie star.

So I think it's a compliment, and that's
how I take it. One, two, three.

We get a lot of free time usually during
the day, which is unusual for promotion.

And we get to get suntans and stuff like
that. So it's really a lot of fun.

We had a fabulous fashion show.

Stores out here in the hotel.

They provide all the clothes and
swimsuits and we each do something like

ten outfits a piece.

They gave us this little room to change
in and there's six Playmates trying to

primp in front of one little mirror.
Yeah, it was very smooth.

Everybody's ripping off their clothes
and hitting you in the face and sweat

coming off you because the bathroom's
about this big.

You know who I really feel sorry for?
Are these girls that have to hang all

these clothes back up?

They should go out there. They should
give them a round of applause.

The highlight, the rainforest, hiking
down through the rainforest.

If this is work, then what's vacation
like?

Well, not long after our trip to Puerto
Rico, I brought Jackie Sheen and Pam

Stein on a trip to my old stomping
ground in Hawaii, and it went a little

something like this.

Sprinkles or it rains, and then in five
minutes, it's gone.

It was raining like about...

20 minutes ago, really hard, it was a
black cloud.

And now, look at the sky.

Just to cool you off.

What was that?

That's what I still lay in my room for.

Hanoma Bay is one of the most beautiful
places on the island, I think, on this

island.

You look down on it, and the water is so
blue.

You can see all the coral and the reef
and people snorkeling. And you get down

there, and you see the fish swim right
up to you.

And it's a great experience.

It's beautiful.

Paradise.

Then when you exhale, you activate your
foot and feet.

It's like saying the number two.

Two.

Breathe in gently.

Blast out.

You girls ready to go down? Oh, boy. Do
we look ready or what? We're ready.

We went bike riding in Mount Tunneleth.
It was really fun.

The girls were crazy.

is definitely the surfing

We tried every water sport in the book
on this trip.

Favorite thing that we did here would
probably have to be when we kayaked to

the island and we found the little cove
where we were swimming. That was really

neat.

I was overwhelmed by the beauty of this
place.

That was the neatest part of this whole
trip was just being so overwhelmed by

the beauty of Hawaii.

I love it.

It's nice to be back with my friends,
show my friends how much fun it is.

Jackie asked me, it's so strange, how
can you be here and move away?

And I'm here right now thinking, looking
at this thing, I don't know.

Right now, we're in Jamaica, and we're
having a wonderful time. It's a lot of

hard work, but we're getting to see and
do a lot of things that would never have

happened if we weren't here.

We are working on a TV show called Eden,
which is for European cable.

And it's been a lot of fun. It's mostly
been beach scenes and running around in

bikinis and just being ourselves,
basically.

It's not bad at all. It's really easy.

When we got a chance to horseback ride,
I was really thrilled. I haven't been

horseback riding in years.

It's the sort of thing you never forget.

The horse was really easy to get along
with, and I rode him really hard.

It's fun, you know, feeling the wind in
your hair and just racing along the

beautiful landscape.

I'll never forget that.

All of us girls went to town and went
shopping. You know, you can barter with

the people here that have their shops
and have their wares and things. And it

was a great day shopping. We loved it.

Not small.

Shopping, I loved shopping. Yeah, they
had tons of great stuff. They had a lot

of carved stuff.

A lot of carved wood, a lot of fish, and
carved faces, Rasta

Man, and a lot of little knick-knack
stuff.

How do I, do I hold this?

No, not this. Okay.

Yeah, okay.

Oh, she's nice.

The only thing that really caught my eye
was a little baby. It was a little

newborn Jamaican baby about eight weeks
old. And it was laying there in the

middle of all the T-shirts and all the
novelty gifts. There was just this

precious little perfect baby.

Can I pick you up, little girl?

Yeah. Come here.

Yeah, you're happy.

Oh, look at that.

Look at that. The little baby.

Can I keep her?

No. Are you sure? She fits perfectly.

Now, in the meantime, music playing, if
you feel nice and you feel like you want

to dance, you just get up and dance.

I should tell you, they're going to have
tonight a fashion show.

Very vivid colors.

Hot pink and green.

And then after fashion, we have limbo
dance, fire dance.

Limbo dancing.

I'm

pretty good

at limbo dancing. Yes, I am. It's
amazing. I didn't know I could do it

myself.

I don't think I could do that as a habit
or a hobby.

The first two notches, which are
probably about five feet high, I did

okay. But after that, I couldn't get
down that low.

I think I'm too tall. That's what it is.

I'm very short, and I still couldn't get
underneath the bar.

Tanya was like one of those rubber
people.

Bend it in half and crawled under like a
little crab. She was pretty good

I think beat me but I was close

They put kerosene in their mouth and
they blow just these huge flames.

I got here and tasted a cup of Jamaican
Blue Mountain coffee.

It was great.

We actually got to go to the plantation
and take a tour of how they make this

coffee. They pick the beans by hand.
They inspect them. They do everything.

They pound them. They crush them.

And everybody there is an expert.
They've been doing it practically their

whole working life.

So how long did it take you to grow your
beard?

Oh, that's a long time now.

Long time now, man. And everyone love
it, you know. I love

it and everyone love it.

How many years have you been making
coffee? All the days of my life.

My mom and father was doing it, and now
they come and doing it now.

Wow, this looks good.

I need a cup.

That's the Blue Mountain Coffee.

It's great coffee.

We had like four cups of it. It was
wonderful.

That time we were going crazy. We were
like all caffeined out, but it was

great.

I love

reggae. I've always loved reggae, and I
guess this is...

one of the better places to hear that
kind of music, so I really enjoyed it.

I mean, dancing to me is a big part of
my life. I'm always dancing, no matter

where it is, in my bedroom, at home, in
the apartment, working, it doesn't

matter.

The trident castle that was great. It
was beautiful. It's huge. It looks like

a It looks like a big fairyland castle
something you see in Disney World or

something

My favorite thing I think was
snorkeling.

I like that a lot.

Considering that I'm not a very good
swimmer, it was a little bit confusing.

I had mixed feelings where I was scared,
but I was excited.

And once I got the hang of it, it was
pretty fun.

An island all to ourselves.

this is beautiful.

You've been an extra before, haven't
you? Yeah, I did a show called Sibs, and

I had to be this New York model and just
hang out in front of an art gallery.

It's kind of fun. It's a lot of waiting.

Yeah. Hurry up and wait.

Reach Falls, one of the most incredibly
beautiful places I've ever seen in my

life. These lovely falls, you know,
reaching over the boulders into this

little pool.

The water's really cold and refreshing,
and it just makes you want to skinny

dip.

I had never gone skinny dipping until I
got to Jamaica.

It's just the kind of place that relaxes
you when you lose your inhibitions. You

have to do it to understand what it's
like.

Take home good memories with the crew
and everything. I had a good time here.

The casual attitude, I'll definitely
take that with me.

It's beautiful. It's gorgeous.

And I know it's a beautiful place with
great food, but I like the children the

best. I've been to Aruba and the
Bahamas, Mexico, Hawaii, but this is

quite lovely. The people are so gracious
here and kind.

Nothing like it. It's like paradise.

I want to see the trees and mountains,
waterfalls and natural mountains. I want

to hear the songbirds singing, songs of
love and joy they're bringing.

I want to feel and walk with nature,
free my soul from all this pressure.
