ASH "MISSION: DEFEAT YOUR RIVAL!"

Serperior! Use Dragon Tail!

[DRAGON TAIL MOVE]

[SHOCKED] Dodge it, Pikachu!

[PAINED]

Pikachu, no!

[FOCUSED]

Pikachu's been hit hard!

[WORRIED] And it's not just speed.

Serperior's attack power's a lot stronger too.

FREDDY 'Serperior's Dragon Tail

scores a direct hit!'

'Will Pikachu be able to continue?'

Come on, Pikachu, get up!

'Pikachu!'

[STRUGGLING]

[DETERMINED]

Yeah! Way to go, Pikachu!

Then how about this?

Okay, Serperior! Energy Ball, go!

[ENERGY BALL MOVE]

[PANICKED]

[PAINED]

Pikachu! Now use Dragon Tail!

[DRAGON TAIL MOVE] Quick, Pikachu, dodge it!

[DRAGON TAIL MOVE]

Alright, Dragon Tail, once more. [EXERTION]

[PAINED]

- Pikachu! - Now, use Wrap.

[WRAP MOVE]

[PANICKED]/PAINED] Ah! Oh, no.

FREDDY 'From Dragon Tail to Wrap'

'Serperior's powerful combination scores a huge hit!'

No! Poor Pikachu's caught!

If Serperior keeps squeezing with so much force

'Pikachu is in real trouble.'

So, what now, Ash?

[grunting] Alright.

Hey, Pikachu, Thunderbolt!

[THUNDERBOLT MOVE]

Stick your tail down into the ground.

[THUNDERBOLT MOVE]

Oh! That Thunderbolt didn't do a thing!

FREDDY 'Pikachu tried to escape

from Serperior's grasp'

'using Thunderbolt, but Serperior used its tail'

'like a ground wire to avoid any damage!'

Alright, Serperior, squeeze even tighter!

[DETERMINED]

[PAINED] Pikachu, no!

[PAINED]

[WORRIED] [PAINED]

[thinking] Ah!

I can't let Trip beat us again.

If I lose now, my whole journey is a waste.

FREDDY 'Serperior's Wrap

is locked tight.'

'All Pikachu can do now is give up!'

[PAINED]

[grunting]

Now, Emboar, use Arm Thrust!

[ARM THRUST MOVE]

[PAINED] And next, use Hammer Arm!

[HAMMER ARM MOVE]

- Watchog, no! - Watchog can't battle!

Emboar wins! 'So the match goes to Bianca.'

I did it! I really did it! I really did it!

Vaporeon, use Hydro Pump!

[HYDRO PUMP MOVE]

[PAINED]

[WEAK]

Huh? Crustle, oh, no!

JUDGE 'Crustle's unable to battle!'

'Vaporeon wins, so the match goes to Virgil.'

Eelektross, Crunch Claw, let's go!

Alright, aim Pin Missile

into its mouth.

Oh, no!

'Eelektross is unable to battle.'

'Ferrothorn wins, so the match goes to Cameron!'

Ferrothorn, great. That's how it's done.

FREDDY 'The victories are piling up

one after another' 'here at The Unova League stadium!'

'Ash and Trip are still battling.'

'Which one of them will claim victory?'

[PAINED]

FREDDY 'Pikachu's got big problems!'

'I don't see any way Ash can win it!'

Come on, Pikachu. You can do this!

You can't give up!

- 'Iris? Cilan?' - Huh?

IRIS 'Hey! Did you all win?'

Of course we did!

It looks like Ash is having trouble.

Hmph, Pikachu can't seem to break free

from Serperior's Wrap.

'The smell of victory is in the air for Trip!'

Don't give up, Pikachu, please!

Fight, fight, fight!

Listen to me, Ash!

If you wanna become a Pokémon Master

don't lose the qualifying round right off the bat!

I won my round and you've gotta win yours too!

There's gotta be a way to escape from that Wrap.

Ow!

Hey! You alright?

[EXASPERATED]

[STRUGGLING]

Pikachu! Listen to me.

You can't give up now! Open your eyes!

Hmph. Guess it's time to wrap this up.

Alright then! Smash Pikachu into the battlefield!

[DETERMINED]

What am I gonna do now?

Pikachu, open your eyes!

[SURPRISED]/[EXCITED]

Huh?

That's it.

Use Iron Tail on the battlefield!

[IRON TAIL MOVE]

- Way to go! - What happened?

FREDDY 'Pikachu has freed itself'

'by smashing into the field with Iron Tail!'

That was amazing.

A taste of Ash's strategy.

Use Iron Tail again!

Intercept it with Dragon Tail!

[IRON TAIL MOVE]

[PAINED]/[STRUGGLING]

FREDDY 'Ah-ha, a clash

between Iron Tail and Dragon Tail'

'and Dragon Tail wins.'

You battled well, but it's over now.

Over?

[STRUGGLING]

[DETERMINED]

Gotta take out that Dragon Tail.

PIKACHU [DETERMINED]

Huh?

[DETERMINED]

Yeah! Use a combination move with Iron Tail and Electro Ball!

[SURPRISED]/[EXCITED]

You two are wasting your time! Serperior, go!

[FOCUSED]

[DETERMINED]

That's it! Wind it up.

[EXERTION] Serperior, Dragon Tail, go!

Pikachu?

Huh?

Wait a minute. So, what's up with Serperior?

[DAZED]

Serperior is unable to battle. Pikachu wins!

And that means the match goes to Ash!

Alright!

You were awesome, buddy!

FREDDY 'Wow! What a turnaround!'

'Pikachu defeated Serperior'

'with an Iron Tail-Electro Ball Combination.'

Serperior..

'Hey! What happened here?'

[all gasp]

[DAZED]

'Oshawott, what happened? Oshawott!'

FREDDY 'Ladies and Gentlemen,

the Vertress City Unova League' 'main event is about to begin!'

First round Trainers will use two Pokémon each

and substitutions are allowed.

'So, up on the big screen, our first round matchups!'

'And our first battle will be Cameron versus Bianca!'

What do you know?

It's gonna be a battle between two of our friends.

So which one am I gonna cheer for?

Here we go. I wonder how this is going to turn out?

I can't wait to see.

[EXCITED] Riolu! It's show time!

[DETERMINED]

But wait, which Pokémon should I start with? Hm.

I've got it!

Alright, battle begin!

Alright, Samurott, let's go!

[PROUD]

Okay! Come on out, Escavalier!

[CONFIDENT]

FREDDY 'So Cameron's first choice

is Samurott' 'and Bianca has chosen Escavalier!'

Hydro Cannon, go!

[HYDRO CANNON MOVE]

Dodge it, quick!

Iron Defense!

[IRON DEFENSE MOVE]

Hydro Cannon, once again!

[HYDRO CANNON MOVE] Dodge that as well!

Iron Defense!

Using Iron Defense twice in a row

will really raise Escavalier's defense power!

Argh! Alright, use Razor Shell!

[RAZOR SHELL MOVE]

Iron Defense!

[IRON DEFENSE MOVE]

Iron Defense again?

Bianca needs to be more aggressive than that.

Using Iron Defense any more than that

won't make its defense any stronger.

She's gotta do more than just play defense.

[CONCERNED] Escavalier! Fury Attack!

FREDDY 'Now, Samurott's showing

impressive defense as well!'

[PAINED]/[DETERMINED]

FREDDY 'Escavalier seems completely

unfazed by Samurott's attack!'

This appears to be quite the defensive pairing.

Even a strong defense has got to have a weak point.

Now..

Ah! My poor head!

Wait. That's it.

Even with a strong defense outside, it won't work

against shockwaves from inside.

Now, Samurott! Hit hard with a double Razor Shell!

[DETERMINED]

[DOUBLE RAZOR SHELL MOVE]

[WORRIED]

Dodge it, Escavalier!

Use it once more!

[DOUBLE RAZOR SHELL MOVE] [PAINED]

FREDDY 'A powerful hit from Samurott'

'but did it work against Escavalier?'

Samurott's really powerful, no doubt.

[IMPRESSED] But thanks to Iron Defense

Escavalier's armor stopped Samurott completely.

[PAINED]

It looks like something's wrong with Escavalier.

Maybe it took damage after all.

[STRUGGLING]

[WEAK]

Escavalier!

FREDDY 'Escavalier is unable to battle!

Samurott wins!'

- Yeah! - Okay. Pretty good!

Next up, I'm going to use Emboar!

[PROUD]

But a Fire type Emboar's at a disadvantage

against a Water type Samurott!

Perhaps, but maybe she has a strategy.

Let's wrap this up! Now, Samurott, Aqua Jet!

[AQUA JETT MOVE]

[PAINED] Emboar! You okay?

Hydro Cannon, go!

[HYDRO CANNON MOVE]

[PAINED]

As a Fire-type Pokémon, Emboar seems to be helpless

'against the onslaught of Samurott's'

'powerful Water type moves.'

I was hoping I'd get to see Riolu battle

but the odds don't look so good.

I've had enough of this! Let's get it over with.

[chuckles]

Alright, Emboar. Use Attract!

[ATTRACT MOVE]

[SHOCKED]

[IN LOVE]

Wow, it worked.

So that's why Bianca chose Emboar.

And now, it's the perfect time for Arm Thrust!

Dodge it, Samurott!

[PAINED]

Follow it up with Hammer Arm!

Samurott, dodge it.

No. Come on, Samurott!

[HAMMER ARM MOVE]

[PAINED]

[WEAK]

Samurott is unable to battle! Emboar wins!

Yip-pee! We won! We won!

- Way to go, Bianca! - Those two are something else!

Wow!

I'd say we have ourselves a brand new battle.

Riolu, wanna go?

[CONFIDENT]

FREDDY 'Cameron has chosen Riolu!'

'Now both competitors are using their second Pokémon.'

I do get to see Riolu battle.

Riolu's Cameron's partner number one.

But with such a big and powerful opponent like Emboar

will Riolu be able to handle it?

We'll see. I feel Riolu's Evaluation Time coming on.

Riolu's such a cutie.

How am I gonna battle such an adorable Pokémon?

Come on. Get it together, Bianca.

Cameron! Cute or not, I'm not holding back!

I wouldn't want you to! Give it all you've got!

So let's give Cameron what he wants. Emboar! Arm Thrust!

Riolu, dodge!

[FOCUSED] [ARM THRUST MOVE]

Now use Hammer Arm!

Circle Throw!

[DETERMINED]

[CIRCLE THROW MOVE]

[SHOCKED]

FREDDY 'Finesse over brute strength!'

'That Circle Throw was timed beautifully!'

[gasps]

Wow, Riolu's really good.

Ample power in a small size. Riolu deserves much respect.

Force Palm!

[FORCE PALM MOVE] [SHOCKED]

[PAINED]

Use it again!

[FORCE PALM MOVE]

[SHOCKED]

[PAINED]

Alright, Riolu, way to go!

[DETERMINED]

[SHOCKED]

[STRUGGLING]

Perfect. Now throw Riolu.

[DETERMINED]

[EXERTION]

[SHOCKED]

- That's how it's done! - Flamethrower, go!

[FLAMETHROWER MOVE]

Dodge it, quick!

Use Copycat!

[COPYCAT MOVE]

[ANGRY]

[FLAMETHROWER MOVE]

[FOCUSED]

[FLAMETHROWER MOVE]

[PAINED]

FREDDY 'Whoa! Now that was

a surprising counter move.'

- Huh? - Riolu used Flamethrower!

But how?

Copycat's a move that allows you

to duplicate your opponent's last move.

Let's finish this! Vacuum Wave!

[DETERMINED] [VACCUUM WAVE MOVE]

[PANICKED]

[PAINED]

FREDDY 'Riolu's Vacuum Wave

scores a direct hit!'

Ah..

FREDDY 'Emboar is unable to battle.'

'Riolu wins so the match goes to Cameron!'

Why did we have to lose? Oh, why?

You did it, Riolu! We won! We won! We won!

BIANCA You just wait

until the next time!

Aw, and to think poor Bianca was doing so well.

Regardless, it was a great battle.

Cameron's trained Riolu really well.

You bet! I can't wait to battle them both.

We'll show them a thing or two, right, buddy?

[EXCITED]

Cameron wins the first match of the day.
