just disappear?

How is she not being found?

Year after year,
the perpetrator

slips through the cracks...

[Jimmy] He was a evil predator
that stalked the streets

of Myrtle Beach.

...evading law enforcement.

We do have hope
that she's still out there.

Somebody's gonna
slip up eventually.

Leaving behind only questions.

[Det. Hanna]
It didn't make sense to me.

He only had one arm.

He is the embodiment of evil.

We need everyone's help
to bring her home.

[Jimmy] Evil people lurk,
and they don't always

have horns and a tail.

Myrtle Beach,
a sprawling 60-mile stretch

of white sand hugging the coast
of South Carolina.

[Jimmy] Myrtle Beach is really
just a magical place.

It's just always been
a very touristy area.

[Tarah] There was the beach
and there was the parties,

the boulevard and all
the different food, shops,

restaurants, bars, clubs.

It was the spring break
destination for people

in Rochester, New York,

and to get out
of the cold weather.

♪ We up all night
until the sun comes up ♪

For years, this sun-soaked
strip has been a magnet

for high-school
and college students,

a spring break haven

where fun and freedom mix
with just a hint of chaos.

The rite of passage
in Rochester is from, like,

15 on you go to Myrtle Beach
for spring break.

You felt very left out
if you didn't go.

Brittanee Drexel, 17,

and a junior
at Gates Chili High School

in Rochester, New York,
has been ticking off the days,

eager to join
the time-honored tradition

of spring break
in Myrtle Beach.

[Casey] Brittanee definitely
was larger than life.

Definitely a people person.

She literally
could go into a room

make friends with everybody.

[Tarah] She was a force
to be reckoned with,

especially on the soccer field

and in life itself.

The year before
Brittanee's parents separated

and started to divorce,
things started to kinda change.

She started to become
more rebellious.

She had always been spunky,
but the spunkiness

kind of turned more
to determined.

[Chad] Brittanee, she just...

became a little more distant
between both of us,

a little more secretive.

When April rolls around,

Brittanee is excited
about the idea

of heading down to Myrtle Beach
to party with some new friends.

[Jimmy] A few older kids
from Brittanee's friend group

had decided to go on vacation
or spring break to Myrtle Beach,

and they had invited
Brittanee to go.

Her mother said, "Your daughter
wants to go to Myrtle Beach,

and I know her grades are bad."

And I said, "You're
waking up for school late

"because you're partying
the night before your friends.

"You're not putting priority
before pleasure.

My answer is no."

Brittanee's mother, Dawn,
and father, Chad, have no idea

their daughter has been
partying on the sand

of Myrtle Beach.

As far as they know,
Brittanee is safe and sound

spending the weekend
with friends in town.

But when Brittanee
suddenly stops answering

her boyfriend John's texts,

he makes the call
no teenager wants to make.

Betraying his girlfriend's
confidence

to tell her parents the truth.

[Chad] So initially,
I had gotten a call that evening

around 9:30ish from Dawn...

telling me Brittanee's...

missing.

As much as I can recall...

I was just, "What?
What do you mean?

"She's missing from where?
Was she stuck somewhere?

I can go pick her up."

"No, she's in Myrtle Beach."

[Tarah] Her boyfriend
was calling her.

Her mother started calling her,
her grandmother.

Even her boyfriend's mother
had tried calling her.

"Brittanee, please call me."

"We don't know where you are."

You really feel like...

you try to be positive,
but reality hits.

So here comes the storm.

All I wanna do
is find our daughter.

[mysterious music playing]

Determined to ease
the Drexels' fears,

the police waste no time
tracking down the hotel

where Brittanee had checked in
with three friends.

[Jimmy]
Police find out that Brittanee
is staying at the Bar Harbor,

an older motel...

south end of the beach.

They interview
Brittanee's friend group.

[Victoria] The girls
that Brittanee went down with

were several years older.

She wasn't super close
with them,

and they really butted heads
when they were down there.

[Jimmy] She was
kind of a fifth wheel.

There were some arguments
over stuff like clothing

and they find out that
that group has not seen her

in about 48 hours.

And the last time
they had seen her,

she had said she was going
to the Bluewater,

which is right up the street.

That night, Brittanee heads
to the Bluewater Hotel,

just about a mile and a half
away to meet up

with Peter Brozowitz,
a 20-year-old club promoter

that she knows from Rochester.

He's in town
for spring break too.

[Casey] Peter hung out
with Brittanee, our friends,

the little group we had.

He was very infatuated
with Brittanee.

I don't think Peter was
used to hearing the word "no"

or not being given
what he wanted.

[Jimmy]
When police learned that Peter
had checked out unexpectedly

at like 1 o'clock in the morning
on the 26th,

That certainly
raised suspicions,

'cause it was only a few hours

after Brittanee
had gone missing.

[Casey] I think it's weird.

Somebody goes missing,
and then within hours,

you're all packed up and loaded,
and you're out of Dodge.

[Jimmy] He goes back
to Rochester, New York,

and as soon as we go up
and talk with him,

he lawyers up.

He doesn't want
to talk to anybody.

[Chad]
My only question is, "Why?"

And I put it very simple.

So why would you hire the most
expensive elaborate lawyer

when you did nothing?

When police finally
sit down with Peter,

lawyer firmly in place,

he lays out a neatly
packaged story.

But the question lingers.

Can they trust
what he's saying?

[Jimmy] Peter was really...

You wouldn't call him
a Southern gentleman.

Really didn't present well
to the police.

He said that she was there
roughly 10 minutes

before she received a text
from the girls

that she had come down with,
her friends,

and then she had to leave.

[Tarah] One of the girls
that she was down there with

texted her and wanted the shorts
that Brittanee was wearing.

She wanted to wear them
that night.

Brittanee said, "OK,
I'm picking up my flip-flops.

I'll be back there soon."

So that's it.

According to Peter,
all he knows is that she left

the Bluewater Hotel.

After that, he claims he met up
with a friend at the bar.

While Myrtle Beach police are
in the investigative process

of checking Peter's alibi,
they got a huge break.

They were able to get
their surveillance cameras

from Bluewater.

[Kin] The video footage
corroborated Peter's story

and gave him more credence.

Video footage depicted Brittanee
walking out of the hotel.

He was telling the truth.

[Jimmy]
They were able to substantiate

that she had arrived at 8:33,

and that she had left
somewhere around 8:50.

In the last 24 hours,
there have been no more

reported sightings
of 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel,

who went missing here
in Myrtle Beach.

Right here to the north
here a little bit

is a traffic camera
that Brittanee Drexel

was captured on...

in a very grainy image
walking north on the boulevard.

[Jimmy] She's wearing shorts,
and she's wearing flip-flops.

But it also
corroborates the fact

that she's with the phone.

[Kin] Within a few minutes
of that camera catching her,

her cellphone -- she
abruptly stopped texting,

in which was highly suspicious.

[tense music playing]

[Jimmy] Brittanee's cellphone
records and the cameras,

the biggest thing that you got
from both of those

was to fill in a timeline,

that something happened
around this time.

We just didn't know what it was.

[tense music playing]

[Chad] The police told me
she went missing, you know,

on Ocean Boulevard.
What do you mean?

That area is packed
with people.

Someone saw something,
you know?

It's mental torture.

How does someone just disappear
off the face of the Earth?

How do they just vanish
into thin air?

While Brittanee's friends
and family are reeling,

detectives shift focus
to her phone.

It might be the only lead left.

It finally died
at right around midnight,

11:57, around the pole yards

on the Santee River,
just south of Georgetown,

approximately 46 miles
from Myrtle Beach,

from where it started.

[Det. Hanna]
This was a desolate place.

It's very dark,
there's not much traffic,

and it's just a scary area.

[Kin] What in the world would
a person like Brittanee Drexel

be doing in a very,
very remote location?

It just didn't make sense.

Brittanee Drexel
has been missing

for seven long days.

Investigators are following
a lead that takes them

nearly 50 miles from the busy
Myrtle Beach boulevard

where she was last seen.

Here, at a deserted boat yard,

they're combing
through the shadows,

hoping for any sign, any trace
that could point them toward

the missing high-school junior.

[Tarah] Law enforcement
explained to us

that it is this desolate area.

It's in the middle of the woods,

and immediately you feel fear.

[reporter] The search is on for
17-year-old Brittanee Drexel,

whose phone last pinged near
the Pole Yard Boat Landing.

Twelve canine units
and 15 investigators

are scouring the area.

[Kin] It can be a dangerous area
if you're not prepared.

There are snakes.

There's wild animals, wild hogs.

They're looking for anything
as small as a phone,

but as big as a person.

[Chad] It's like the stuff
you see on TV every day.

Then you gotta think,
"It's your daughter,

they're looking for her."

That bothered me the most.

[Jimmy] After a couple of days
of looking,

they give up the search.

[Tarah] How can you
not find anything?

Not even her cellphone.

We know where
her cellphone pinged.

How do we not have her?
How is she not...

being found?

For 15 months,
the case goes cold.

No leads
and no new information.

Then, a chilling incident
unfolds in Myrtle Beach.

A 20-year-old woman
narrowly escapes

an attempted kidnapping,

not far from where
Brittanee Drexel was last seen.

Before I could turn around,

one male had me
around the waist,

trying to pull me into his van.

[reporter #2] That was
Randa Massey, in her own words,

speaking to WMBF News.

She was a young white girl,

and she was 'bout the same age
as Brittanee.

The police immediately
focused on that,

thinking that, you know,
this may be our guy.

Could this be the break
in the case

everyone has been
desperately waiting for?

The description
that the young girl had given,

it matched Shaun Taylor
from down in McClellanville,

which was some suspects
that had already been generated

by the other investigators.

Their picture was put
in a photo lineup

where they showed it
to the young girl,

and she picked out Shaun Taylor

as one of the persons
trying to grab her.

The arrest warrants were issued.

For the next four months,

investigators navigate
a maze of leads,

desperate to find
the new thread that would tie

Timothy Shaun Taylor
to Randa Massey's narrow escape

and the vanishing
of Brittanee Drexel.

[Tarah] It was a roller coaster
of emotions

because maybe this is the person
who took Brittanee.

But hope crumbles
like a house of cards

when police reveal
the devastating truth.

Timothy Shaun wasn't even
in Myrtle Beach

when Randa narrowly escaped
or when Brittanee went missing.

[waves crashing]

We just hit another wall.

Another dead end.

[Chad] So after time goes by,
I just start getting numb.

"You're OK.
You're getting through this.

This is a storm."

Your emotions are
a roller coaster.

Two years have passed
since Brittanee went missing

and the investigation
has unraveled

with two promising leads
that faded into dead ends.

Hoping a fresh perspective
might spark new momentum,

police bring
Detective Phil Hanna

onto the case.

The question now is whether he
can uncover a new angle

that could finally
lead to answers.

I requested from our deputy,
"Please furnish me with a list

of all the sex offenders that
was registered in our county."

And she gave me a list
but kept one out,

which was for Raymond Moody,

and said, "You really need
to look at him."

If there was gonna be
a boogeyman,

it would've been Ray Moody.

Ray Moody had been
in the military.

Ray had been sentenced
in California

for raping multiple children.

He had served
about 20 of those years

before he was released in 2004.

But he was on parole,

and he moved back to Georgetown.

He was classified
as a serial sexual predator.

That's the worst kind
of classification

that a sex offender can have.

[Tarah] He is
the embodiment of evil.

His criminal history,
his background was horrendous.

[Det. Hanna] He was a fit man.

And he could easily
have taken Brittanee

by himself.

[Jimmy] Everybody in Georgetown,

from the day
Brittanee went missing,

thought it was Ray Moody.

But there was not any evidence
that pointed toward him.

Determined to connect
Raymond Moody

to Brittanee's disappearance,

law enforcement
casts a wider net,

turning their focus
to those closest to him.

Could someone in Moody's inner
circle be the missing link?

Investigators are told
by several people that Moody

had a girlfriend
for the last few years

named Angel Vause.

[Kin] She said
that Moody, Raymond,

had fantasies about kidnapping
girls off the sidewalk,

about hanging people up
and gutting them.

I mean, it was as if she was
admitting it, that he did it

without coming out
and saying it.

It was just highly suspect.

[Det. Hanna] She did reveal
that Raymond Moody

would beat her
and he would tie her up.

He even threatened her
to the point

that if she tried to leave him,
that she could possibly end up

like the girl from the beach.

But she never would tell us

anything concrete
that he had done

that could link him
to Brittanee Drexel.

The interview with Angel

doesn't give them
what they need,

but it only strengthens
their resolve.

Raymond Moody is still
the one they're after.

So the police decide
to change tactics.

They set aside
the dead-end conversations

and focus on something
that can't lie...

evidence.

A few months after the interview
with Angel, we obtained

a search warrant
for a motel room,

south of Georgetown,
where Moody had rented

during the time
that Brittanee disappeared.

The hope is
that needle in a haystack,

that maybe
there's something there

that connects Brittanee
to the room at Sunset Lodge...

one of the places
that Ray Moody was staying at.

Police searched a motel
in Georgetown County today

for evidence related
to the Brittanee Drexel case.

SLED crime scene technicians,

with help
from Myrtle Beach Police

and the Georgetown
County Sheriff's Office,

searched an apartment
at the Sunset Lodge,

south of Georgetown today.

[Kin] Hair, DNA, fibers,
clothing, whatever.

Even though it had been
a couple years,

you still can't give up.

[Chad] I didn't go to sleep.

I had the feeling of, "Maybe
they're gonna catch him."

Investigators are sure
Ray Moody holds

the final piece of the puzzle

to Brittanee Drexel's
disappearance.

But just
as their focus sharpens,

a new name surfaces,

unraveling the case in ways
no one could see coming.

Determined to uncover a link

to Brittanee Drexel's
disappearance,

South Carolina law enforcement
comb through every inch

of Ray Moody's former apartment
at Sunset Lodge.

With a search warrant in hand,
they meticulously catalog

each item, eager to find
the piece of forensic evidence

that ties Moody to Brittanee
once and for all.

[Tarah] You don't want
to give up on Brittanee

'cause you're all she has.

Unfortunately, no evidence
was found to help

link Brittanee Drexel
to being in that room.

I was still hopeful somebody's
gonna slip up eventually,

somebody's gonna say something.

In 2015, desperate to salvage
their credibility

after the Timothy Shaun Taylor
misstep, the FBI convenes

a fresh task force dedicated
to Brittanee's disappearance.

A year ticks by
as they meticulously

sift through six years
of evidence.

Then, in June 2016,
they call a press conference

to unveil a major breakthrough.

The investigation now
is that Brittanee Drexel

did leave the Myrtle Beach area.

We believe she traveled
to this area

around McClellanville,

and we believe
she was killed after that.

The investigators are certain
that that's what's happened.

[Casey] I couldn't accept
the fact that she was gone.

I remember thinking,
"How do you know she's dead

if we don't have remains"?

I need your help in bringing
the people responsible

to justice.

[voice breaking] We need
everyone's help

to bring her home to us.

We need your help.

Two months later,
law enforcement

reveals information
that family and friends

have been eagerly anticipating
for seven years.

They finally have a suspect.

The real shock comes next,
the man's name.

The federal authorities
announced that the suspect is

Timothy Da' Shaun Taylor.

[Tarah] The Taylor name
was familiar.

We had heard this name
before back in 2010

with the attempted abduction
in Myrtle Beach.

And that was...

Timothy Shaun Taylor,
the father...

of Da' Shaun Taylor.

We are wondering where
this information had come from.

This information came from
a jailhouse informant

by the name of Taquan Brown.

[Jimmy] Taquan Brown was,
and is, currently in prison

on a 25-year sentence
for voluntary manslaughter.

Taquan Brown claims
to have crossed paths

with Timothy Da' Shaun Taylor
and Brittanee Drexel

at a stash house
in McClellanville,

a quiet shrimping village

about 60 miles south
of Myrtle Beach.

The house, a suspected hub
for drug deals,

held secrets as murky
as the surrounding marshes.

Brown says that while
he was at the stash house

in McClellanville,

that she was sexually assaulted.

She ran away,
that she was caught,

pistol-whipped...

and brought back
to the stash house,

but that he was out of the room
when he heard two shots.

[Tarah] And later
he saw them roll up a carpet

or a bloody carpet,
assuming her body was in it.

And it was taken and dumped
into an alligator pit.

[suspenseful music playing]

There's nothing in my brain
that can accept that

as something other people do to
the human bei -- to anybody.

But with little evidence
to hold

Timothy Da' Shaun Taylor

and no legal grounds
for questioning,

law enforcement tries
a different tactic,

an ethically
questionable one at that.

[Jimmy] Timothy Da' Shaun Taylor
was arrested

for a 2011 charge
by the federal prosecutors

and the federal police.

And it was for a burglary,
and they used that

in order to question him
for Brittanee's case,

which was a very interesting
legal move in and of itself.

[reporter]
This morning, Timothy Taylor
headed into federal court.

Taylor faced 20 years in prison
for a crime

he'd already been
sentenced for in state court.

The Feds used his armed
robbery charge as leverage

for information
in an unrelated case,

Brittanee Drexel's
disappearance.

She went missing
during a spring break trip

to Myrtle Beach in 2009.

This was an unusual case
of dual prosecution

on federal and state levels.

[Tarah] Timothy Da' Shaun Taylor
claimed from day one

that he had nothing to do
with Brittanee's disappearance.

[Casey] And he even went
on "Dr. Phil."

And it was hard for me
watching that,

'cause I saw how adamant he was
about being innocent.

I didn't pick her up.
I never saw her,

besides seeing her on TV
and the Internet

through a computer screen.

So when they read it out,
it was like,

it was unbelievable.
It did not happen.

[Tarah] Why were they
not arresting him
for her kidnapping?

If he did this, why were they
not arresting him

for her murder?

After seven years, one thing
remains painfully clear.

No one knows
or is willing to admit

what happened
to Brittanee Drexel.

As her family grapples
with the agonizing reality

of an open case,
a twist of fate

will steer the investigation
down a harrowing path.

[intriguing music playing]

With jailhouse informant
Taquan Brown's statement

as their cornerstone,
the FBI zeroes in on

Timothy Da' Shaun Taylor
as their prime suspect

in Brittanee Drexel's murder.

But there is one glaring fact
they can't ignore.

[Det. Hanna] It didn't
make sense to me.

Brittanee was a healthy,
strong, young girl.

Timothy Da' Shaun Taylor,
he only had one arm.

And I found it hard to believe
that this one-armed person

could grab this girl
off this sidewalk

[Jimmy] Mr. Taylor is
under all kind of scrutiny

throughout the community,
throughout the media.

Mr. Brown,
in a prison interview,

tells the media,
"I made it all up.

That didn't happen."

[Kin] Jailhouse informants
are not always

the most credible witnesses,

I mean, most of the time,
it's not good information.

With no concrete evidence

linking him to
Brittanee's disappearance,

law enforcement has
no choice but to let

Timothy Da' Shaun Taylor
walk free.

I can't say I'm sorry enough
because the FBI won't.

FBI destroyed a family,
the Taylor family.

He destroyed their name.

I'm still so sorry
for what they went through.

[Casey] Ten-year mark
was very difficult for me.

There've been millions
of milestones

literally just stolen from her.

She wasn't there
for the birth of my child.

[Tarah] I've become
comfortable with the fact

that I may not
ever find answers.

You move on,
but you never forget.

[intriguing music playing]

In 2019, a new FBI
task force is formed,

determined to unravel
the mystery

of Brittanee's disappearance.

For years, the case
has been mired in dead ends.

But now, they finally
get the break

they've been waiting for.

[Kin] Ten years,
technology has gotten better.

So they had equipment
at the FBI headquarters

that could better analyze
old traffic-cam video footage.

[Victoria]
So agents on the case go back
to the traffic-cam footage

to see where Brittanee
was walking on Ocean Boulevard,

and they hone in on a vehicle.

An SUV that they believed
might be involved in the case.

[Det. Hanna]
The vehicle they suspect
that Brittanee Drexel was in

matched the description
of a vehicle that

belonged to
Angel Vause's brother.

Angel Vause,

once the girlfriend
of Raymond Moody,

a man police suspected
but could never pin down.

Eight years ago,
they hoped she'd be the one

to turn on him,
but the connection never came.

[Jimmy] This new group took
all of the information

that was collected, not only
from Brittanee's cellphone,

but also from the cell towers
and the footage,

and reviewed all of that
basically at the same time.

They blended them all together.

And dang if that
ain't the vehicle

coming through there,
registered to Angel's brother.

[Victoria]
This could potentially put both
Angel Vause and Raymond Moody

in the same place
at the same time

as Brittanee Drexel.

[Kin] There's no way Brittanee
got in that car voluntarily.

It was by force...

and it was violent.

[Det. Hanna] The FBI knew that
with Raymond Moody's history,

that he wasn't
going to cooperate,

so obviously he would use
the weakest link.

And Angel Vause is clearly
the weakest link.

That's when they went back
and interviewed her.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Victoria] On April 27, 2022,
Angel Vause again finds herself

in an interview room

with the Georgetown County
Sheriff's Office.

[Chad] At this point,
this is years after.

You just want to find something
to bring closure.

Eleven years has passed.

She's 54 years old.

Angel was a practical nurse
in Georgetown.

Angel was still with Ray.

They were living together
on Rose Hill Road in Georgetown.

And she verified,
"That's my brother's vehicle."

[Det. Hanna] She was
real happy, cheerful and chatty

up until they mention
Brittanee Drexel.

And once they mention her name,
that's when her defenses go up,

her body language changes.

Her voice becomes agitated.

She really is trying
to protect Ray.

Angel's interview
leaves agents frustrated.

But just as things
seem to stall,

something completely
unexpected happens.

[Jimmy] I got a call
from a defense attorney.

He said that he had a client,

and that client
wanted to confess.

Horry County Solicitor
Jimmy Richardson's phone rings.

It's a call that will finally
unravel the mystery

of Brittanee Drexel's
disappearance.

The question that's lingered
in the shadows

since April 25th, 2009.

A man walked into the Georgetown
County Sheriff's Office

and surprised everyone.

He told them that he knew where
Brittanee Drexel's body was.

That person was Ray Moody.

[indistinct chatter]

Law enforcement is relieved
to finally secure a confession

from the man many had
in their cross hairs since

the beginning of
Brittanee Drexel's
disappearance.

[indistinct chatter]

Raymond Moody, once the picture
of health and composure,

now seems
almost unrecognizable,

his physical state a shadow
of what it once was.

He was never gonna admit it
unless there was some reason

for him to.

Was it guilt finally surfacing?

Or had he simply
reached his limit?

Haunted by the weight
of a truth

he could no longer bury.

[Kin] What really changed
was Moody's health.

And when he figured out
that his health was bad

and they were gonna threaten
to charge Angel,

he decided he was gonna...

still be in control, and he
was gonna take the rap for it.

[sinister music playing]

According to
Raymond Moody's account,

it all started
innocently enough.

He and his girlfriend,
Angel Vause,

borrowed her brother's SUV.

From there, the night
took a dark turn.

[Kin] I don't believe
a word of that.

Brittanee Drexel would've never
gotten in that car voluntarily.

She was taken by force.

I believe that night
Raymond Moody

was out with Angel Vause
and they were doing their thing

looking for someone to hurt.

The unlikely trio
makes their way

toward the desolate
Pole Boat Yard Landing.

Sometime along the way,

Angel exits the scene,
leaving Brittanee alone

in the company
of the devil himself.

[Jimmy] As he was raping her,
she was fighting back,

and his first thought
after all of this was over is,

"She is going to tell

and I'm gonna go
back to prison for rape."

[Kin] He killed her because
he kidnapped her and raped her.

He wanted to eliminate
the evidence.

[Det. Hanna] He learned
from that long stint in prison

what to do and what not to do.

And then he buried her.

[solemn music playing]

Now this site is maybe
two miles from the Sunset Lodge

where he was staying in 2009
when Brittanee went missing.

[Chad] I had years worth
of being so disappointed

and then all of a sudden
everything stopped.

And that's a sense
of closure I got.

So that's when...

yeah.

Yeah, that's "the finally."

Patience and, yeah.

I don't know.

It's tough.

I -- I just, I prayed.

[deep exhale]

[Jimmy] It turns out Ray Moody

was a evil predator
that stalked the streets

of Myrtle Beach looking
for unsuspecting teenage girls.

Twelve days
after what would have been

Brittanee Drexel's
31st birthday,

Ray Moody faces
formal charges at last.

and sexual assault.

for everybody.

Investigators, family,
you know, friends

that had suffered
all these years wondering,

wanting to know
what happened to Brittanee.

Such a senseless act
that affected so many people

and so many lives.

Brittanee is forever
frozen at 17.

[Tarah] I want Brittanee
to be remembered

as the beautiful soul
that she was,

the compassion and the kindness

that she carried with her.

I don't want her to be
only thought of as a victim.

I ask you, Judge Cothran,
to sentence Raymond Moody

to the fullest extent
of the law.

The defendant was and is,
and I'm sorry,

a perverted, sick monster,

that this should never happen
to anyone ever again.

[Jimmy] Ray Moody got life
imprisonment for the murder.

And then the judge gave him
a consecutive 30 years,

which was the maximum
for the rape.

And he gave him an additional
30 years on the kidnapping,

which was the maximum.
So he got life, plus 60 years.

I was glad that that monster
was going to be behind bars

for the rest of his life.

[Chad] I felt good
that we got closure there.

He deserves to be tortured,
but hopefully God does that.

[Kin] Brittanee's case made me
want to hold my children closer,

appreciate them, warn them
about things I know about.

Young people, they don't know

the evil that lurks out there.

It makes you wary
of the world around you.

[Jimmy] Every community
can have a dark side,

including Myrtle Beach.

None of us are immune from that.

Evil people lurk,
and they don't always

have horns and a tail,
and that's scary.
