that made it happen

when he misfired
his weapon.

BISHOP:
Except Backer started to think
that maybe it wasn't a misfire.

And with more training,
he found a design flaw

in the weapon itself, and that
is what caused the accident.

Well, apparently,

but no one would listen.

The professor gave us
these. They're copies

of Backer's
internal LanWar reports.

BISHOP:
Yeah, but they never saw
the light of day.

Backer didn't steal the weapons
to sell them.

He was trying
to blow the whistle.

He knew his official reports
were getting buried,

so he went outside
the chain of command.

Backer called up
an old professor

to conduct the tests.

But they needed the weapons
to test them.

Well, if he was wrong, he was
risking his entire career.

Not to mention jail time.

But Backer took the risk anyway.

It was the right thing to do.
Who buried his reports?

Gentlemen, I'm confused.

I was called in
to discuss SECNAV

lifting the freeze
on LanWar's contracts.

Yeah, we made that up.

But we thought you should know

that Staff Sergeant Murphy
was cleared of Backer's murder.

She had an alibi at the lab
for the night in question.

Every day this investigation
remains open,
