How much money have you raised?

We've raised just to shy of five hundred

thousand dollars. The lion's share of it

coming from yours truly.

We've never made a pitch to a PropTech VC

yet. We were thrown into the spotlight

because of the fires that unfortunately

claimed your home and everybody else's.

What if I already have an existing home?

Can you put that underneath the home that

exists? Or is it only for new builds?

Right now, we cannot because we're going

for lowest hanging fruit for our business

model and plan.

Will we be able to in the future?

Yes, of course.

We could just simply lift the home up and

then build our cavity underneath.

This is really a basic basement, guys.

This isn't like a time machine we're

building here. And remember, everything

is patented. How many?

Three. So we've got every element

covered. The hydraulics that we have

masterminded, the way that the ceiling

cover auto-deploys and what it's made out

of, and the way the utilities disconnect.

I was just around when I was growing up

in the hood.

When that bank came after my house, I'd

have tucked my house away for a month or

so. What I don't understand is how you

think in the markets where you should put

this, which is California, how would you

ever get a permit to do this?

So there's a plan.

I was planning a commission for seven

years before I was the mayor.

And so I brought this to my planners and

basically it's a basement.

It's a basement with hydraulics.

It's not as complicated as it sounds.

And what we want to do, we need to do is

be a fabrication plant to support the

sales. The hydraulics, the ceiling cover

It's not enough to build off one of our

homes. We need 3.8 million to build an

actual prototype home.

Then when we start economies of scale,

they could bring the price down.

Our target is 400 bucks a square foot.

But initially it will cost...

It's going to be a thousand dollars a

square foot and that makes us at least

somewhat profitable. It also is very

expensive to sell.

It is the beginning.

important part. Getting the first few

users in is the most important part.

Getting the publicity on the good user

down happy they are is the important

part. You've got to do that first so

you've got to contend with that.

Most startups, one of their major

challenges is to get eyes on them.

This is not the problem here.

Chronicles, CNN, everybody...

saying, well, how do I know it works?

I've got to build one prototype.

This isn't just a restaurant brand.

What you're looking at, the investment is

it looks like a franchise, but it's not.

Whereas my previous brand, which I helped

to build to over 1500 locations that sold

last year for $2 billion.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

I bought the rights for Nevada and parts

of Southern California.

I brought it to the West Coast, but all

the reasons you would buy into a

franchise did not exist because it was

brand new. So I was on my own.

So I opened our very first location,

opened March 1st of last year, the second

one, March 22nd.

The third one, it wasn't fully up until

July 28th. Corporately owned.

But we owned them all.

Oh my God.

So what's the revenue?

You owned all of them.

I created a million dollar store in seven

months. So that's a million annual?

Yes. No, actually, sorry.

When you say it will do now, what has it

done? 1.4.

I'm very confused.

The valuations actually, I don't even

understand it. Because it's based off

projections. It's based off of what I

know the company would be worth.

All of my investors have invested in what

they think that I can do.

Because we need to open more stores.

Because it doesn't just need to be a real

estate. I know, but you got to

understand, we're just talking about

reality, right? Yes.

It comes from my 15 years experience

building a similar brand.

Yeah. That brand, who just sold last year

for 2 billion.

And my experience is going to be losing

money on 9 out of 10 deals.

So I'm going to bring that experience to

you as well.

ever sat there and said, I'm going to

mess up. I don't have to.

This isn't based off, I'm sorry to

interrupt you. It's not based off hopes

and dreams. My previous brand just sold

for 2 billion dollars.

Your sales right now.

Your valuation is only based off less

than 6% world-time.

We own all these stores.

We have more than a 30% profit margin on

each of the investors.

mature. There are many comparables that

are public and private.

Thousands of them.

And so when investors are approached for

restaurant concepts, they go back to the

market, the public markets like

McDonald's, Giant, Behemoth, and then

private ones with only three locations.

But those are brands that protect people

and offer safe things.

I get it, except it's all based on one

thing. There are profit margins that fall

to free cash flow per location, per

square foot. I want to know if you have

that information. I would like to get

real numbers from Dina.

The actual sales.

That would be very helpful.

You have three restaurants.

I know they've only been opened a short

while, but what are they so far?

Due to company structure and restaurant

technology, we have reduced labor.

But what are the actual numbers?

So currently, our labor is a...

No, the revenue.

What are your sales so far?

Actual sales. Pick a location and give us

Yes. So in January, we had a 26% profit

margin. This is a no manager model.

We make all of our food in our food

manufacturer, blast freeze it, deliver it

to the stores frozen.

The employees are simply reheating frozen

food. Our speed of service in the drive

-through. And that's how you save costs.

So that's what you were saying.

That's what I haven't had a chance to

talk about is that I have six things that

I felt were broken.

I can hit a 10% labor.

You can't do that in any other

restaurant. So the idea is fantastic.

What's hard for me is that you came in

$750,000 for 5%.

And you've only been up and running a

tiny little bit and you don't really have

great sales. You don't yet.

I believe in you, but I also like

concrete proof and evidence.

Dina, unfortunately you're in a sector

that's very competitive and your

valuation is insane.

You know, for me, I'm a very short, curt

person by my nature.

I'm very direct.

And your communication style is very

lengthy. And I wouldn't have the patience

to communicate with you as a partner.

So simply because our styles are so

vastly different. I'm afraid I must say

shoe thing? That's harder to get in the

Is it illegal in the NBA?

It's not, but they all have sneaker

deals. So you would have to strike a

deal. You cover the logo.

They can't modify the sneaker.

Why wouldn't you go to the sneaker

manufacturer, the big guy, and say, look,

why don't you take a piece of our company

and we'll work together to blow this up

everywhere? If I had your superpower,

they would call me back.

I would love that.

But how protectable is it?

So we have several patents, design

patents on the large mat and the mini

mat, and we have utility and design

patents on the shoe armor.

What's your background?

So my background is in engineering.

I had a full career in oil and gas.

I was very fortunate to build and sell

several oil and gas companies over the

course of a decade.

Did you create this?

I did. And one of my investors, I told

him, I need a good sales guy.

I need somebody with just a killer

instinct. And he connects me to this guy.

There he is.

And here we are.

So I was actually in college at TCU in

Fort Worth, Texas.

Met with him and took a bunch of product

in the back of my trunk.

And within the first week, I sold it out.

The entire Fort Worth Catholic School

District. From that point forward, we

started increasing our inventory.

Have you taken on other investors?

So right now, I own 90% of the business.

I have two investors.

How much have you invested?

I'm probably around half a million

between all the patents.

You said half a million?

Yes. Wow. Patents, manufacturing,

inventory, and then a couple of years of

business. Why would $50,000 do for you?

We wanted to price this because we want a

shark. This opportunity is unbelievably

rare. Tell us how rare it is in terms of

revenue. So lifetime sales were just

under $220,000 in sales.

This year, though, we're on pace for $250

,000. How big do you think the market is,

Dave? Because I mean, you only need one

mat for each team, right?

The athletes buy.

Michael, tell them about the size.

There's 30 million participants for

basketball. Every player can have a mini

mat. A team can have that large mat.

But when you're going to practice at the

rec center at your local gym, you bring

that mini mat in your backpack.

businesses. I like things that are really
