to see them ugly white grubs...

that spade up in the cucumber beds.
I hate the look of them.

But why do other people call it
Barry's pond?

I reckon because Mr. Barry lives up
there in that house.

Green Gables' is right behind it.

Has Mr. Barry any little girls?

When I was young I used to imagine it
was Geraldine.

What difference does it make
how it's spelled?

in your mind, like it was printed out?

came to be made?

but they're fearfully skimpy. There's
never enough of these in the asylum.

I hate skimpy night-dresses.

One can dream they're lovely trailing
ones with frills around the neck...

for the candle.
