There's a magic cookbook,
and it's moved from one set

of protectors to another for,
like, hundreds of years.

The recipes in it
use magical spices

to let you do
incredible things,

like see hidden codes,
become invisible,

even travel through time,
but the spells can also have

these downsides that
can really mess things up--

just little things,
like freezing a whole town.

My friends and I
had the book for a while,

and we went on
some pretty cool adventures.

But now a girl
named Zoe has it.

Zoe and her mom
lived all over the country

after Zoe's dad died.

But they just moved
to Bay City

because her mom got remarried,
at a pizza place.

Anyway, now Zoe's
new stepbrother Leo

and their
downstairs neighbor Ish

are the new protectors.

Even though they have
this secret, the three of them

are not exactly what
you might call friends yet.

And, as you can probably guess,
you can't just buy magic spices

at the grocery store, so we
gave the new protectors seeds

to grow their own magic spices.

Ish planted them in this
really cool rooftop greenhouse.

I should totally get
one of those.

That's when Kelly, Hannah and I
headed home.

We could tell that
the new protectors

could handle whatever mystery
came their way.

And knowing
this magic cookbook,

there's definitely
something coming.

IAN: I have to hide this.
The people I took it from

are dangerous,
and they won't stop looking.

I came up here
to water the garden,

and look what greeted me.

Is that all magic?

LEO:
I bet every spice is in here.

Now there isn't anything
we can't cook.

First thing we need to do is
get a lock for the greenhouse.
