Then, he tied my legs into a knot

and did Flamenco on my face.

Well, just goes to show me a big lesson.

you are full of beans.

Well, but then I got lucky.

My third grade teacher
took an interest in me.

Her name was Mrs. Rumple Meyer.

that's how she used to say it.

And she used to tell me

And that used to bother me

well, he was in show business.
He was a vaudevillian.

Yes, he did an act with the trained seal

that was called "Bernie and Chuckles."

And they did pretty good.
It was not a bad act at all.

Until one day Chuckles ate a bad
herring and he passed away.

Well, we were all terribly upset.

My mother cried for weeks and
weeks and weeks and month

because Chuckles was a
pretty good husband.

And then, uh, I had to
grow up and take over.

You see, so I went into show business

and I met a lot of nice people there.

I'll never forget Flora,
the tattooed lady.

Lovely woman.

She had flames tattooed on one knee

and the devil tattooed on the other knee

and when she crossed her
legs it looked like hell.

Now, sir, well

she met the India rubber man, JoJo

and they got married.

And I'll never forget
their wedding night.

They were dancing on the floor

and he erased her completely.

But JoJo had his own troubles.

He got into a big pot a little later on

because he got into in some trouble

with some professional ball player

and they dribbled him to death.

That's when I had to get in
to get out and go to work.

I went into burlesque.

Yes, I'll never forget those
wonderful days in burlesque

or those nights.

Ah, those strippers...

I heard that phrase so many times

that, when I was getting
my physical in the army

and the doctors told me to take it off

I told them, "I couldn't
work without a drummer."

A rum-bum is a rim shot on the drums.

That's what I used to use in my act.

See, I'll never forget

how the emcee used to introduce me.

He would say, "Ladies and gentlemen

"he was outstanding in Philadelphia

"he was outstanding in Boston

and now he's outstanding
in the washroom."

"Let's, uh... ladies and gentlemen

may I introduce the
dapper, Eddie Brown."

"Lights!"

"And applause."
