by a giant sheet of ice.

And as the ice slipped down

it broke into chunks
called glaciers.

And these glaciers
carved out the rivers

and split the mountains
into jagged peaks.

Professor Whitney from Harvard
disputes that.

He says that the mountains
were formed by a great upheaval.

He calls it a sudden wreck
of matter and crush of worlds.

But, Dr. Quinn, the mountains
were not formed overnight

but slowly, slowly,
over time by the ice.

Well, how do you know that?

I can show you grooves
in the mountains

where the glaciers passed.

In Montana, we found 22
still active and moving.
