The house that we lived in there was a lot of paranormal activity

My family had experiences in that house

I can't speak for them, but I think just because I was sensitive I picked up on more of it

What I felt about the basement growing up was always fear

At one point in time my family had it refinished and they considered it a playroom, but I never liked it

I was never comfortable there

When they moved me down there I was about 15

And I would hear voices in the back room

There was a very very dark and dusty back room

And

No one was there I would hear voices coming from the vents I

Remember thinking is there a party going on or something like that

Other times it was like wailing like sounds of like someone was in pain or crying

Couldn't tell you if the voices were male or female and I never could distinguish the words that they were saying

This would be just the beginning of Christine's torment

Grandmother who I loved dearly she went into a rest home and she had had a painting of Jesus

I took that because it always reminded me of her

So when I put it in my room within two weeks the painting started to ooze this stuff

It was like a brown red orange liquid

It wasn't coming from the frame it was coming from the actual painting

Don't think anybody religious or not wants to see a picture of Jesus leak brown stuff in their house

We took the painting and we put it in the garbage

Spirits have the ability to make us see anything that they want us to see

By making a painting bleed the spirit is trying to shake the foundation of the individual's faith

From that point on the activity in Christine's basement began to intensify I

Would leave the lights on and they would always be off when I came in

So I would have to walk in from the garage with the lights out

And on my left side I would feel like something was being thrown at me I

Don't know what it was. I didn't see anything I

I would recite that that's how scary it was to me

Reciting quotes from the Bible

empowers the individual in

Forces their faith and it makes them feel like they are in control

But bear in mind it could in fact anger the entity in question

When I would turn the light there would be little scratches little marks

Soon Christine began to see the physical manifestations of what had plagued her

One time I woke up and the clock started to run backwards

But then when I looked up there's three dark figures

It made me feel scared and it made me feel very alone

The nightly torment continued until Christine was old enough to leave home

I stayed there until I was 19 when I got a job and I moved out. I moved in with some friends

Christine thought she had finally escaped the terror of whatever was in the basement

Woke up to shadow people slamming their hands on my back

Woke up came out into the living room and looked on the wall and there was like feces had been smeared all over the wall

Convinced evil spirits were attached to her Christine turned to her religion for help

Of the girls that I worked with asked me to go with them to some healing services and some prayer services

And I said what the heck?

When I went up to go get a blessing that's when when things started to really manifest

That's when it was kind of hard to say no. There's nothing attached to me. It was kind of clear

The more scared that I got but also I would became enraged and I remember standing there thinking

Why would I be angry? Why would I have this rage?

The temperature changed from hot to very very hot to very very cold and then back again

And when my eyes met the priest it it just he wrecked it was recognition in his eyes

Years of torment by evil entities

Christine Korda sought solace at her local church

But the entities that had attached themselves to her had other ideas

And I remember

Going up in the air. I remember looking up and seeing the ceiling going by like I was being wheeled in a gurney

But only I was literally in midair

And landed on the floor in the back of the church

The priest came over and he started to pray and that's when I sort of was coming in and out remember there was a lot

Remember that they were putting hot burning water in my face. I came later to learn that it was holy water

Whatever entity was there whatever spirit it was trying to take over me. That's what I felt

I felt my will going up against there with that will

Didn't know if I was gonna live I didn't know if something was gonna you know

Overtake me in my sleep and try to kill me or actually kill me. So that was the scariest time the recognition that that it was

real

Levitation can definitely be associated with demonic spirits if a body or an individual

Levitates under a demonic attack that person could very potentially be possessed to the point where you would need exorcism

It was traumatic to say the least

Father had told me that he felt that I needed a formal exorcism

An exorcism expels the demon from either the host area or object that it is in possession of

Demonic are believed to be

Demonic are believed to be disembodied malevolent beings

They're said to be fallen angels, but they are very aggressive and

They are there to hurt you

The priest quickly arranged for an exorcism to be performed on Christine

At her side was her spiritual mentor and friend Frank Martino

With Christine with the exorcism that she had with the priest I was there as a supportive position is supporting Christine

And at some point then she began to go into a tremor

He did some prayers he did some prayers in Latin

At one point we did hear a demonic voice speaking to us

We heard a tongue coming out of her which was obviously a demonic

It took it was literally like nine hours I do not remember much at all

I was in the hospital

The exorcism is a form of attacking and challenging a demonic being

When I left that night I felt better than I had in years I was only 21 and I felt free I felt light

Ever since I was a child I wanted to open up my own boutique like a one-stop shop for women

So I decided better time than never to take the plunge and open up my own business

Caryann found what she thought was the perfect location for her boutique in an historic old building

I love old I love antiques I love the history of the building dated from the 1800s

Upon purchasing it I had learned that the home initially belonged to a general

General William Kirby who served in the Civil War and Spanish-American War

and that he would bring slaves here and hide them for safety

Just after the boutique opened strange things started to happen

I would go to close up at night and I would go upstairs shut off the lights come downstairs

but there was more to the building than first met the eye

At first I thought I was just overtired my mind is playing tricks on me

I had asked like a master electrician and he basically laughed and said that it was impossible for that to happen

Paranormal activity can sometimes begin with small things like doors opening and lights flickering

A spirit is trying to initially get someone's attention

These are things they can manipulate because they are made of energy and they can interact with those electronic devices easier

And then it can escalate into something more than that

The weird activity started to increase

You would hear footsteps

You would hear loud banging

Whether it be pipes or loud banging on the walls

You would hear crying you would hear some screams

You would hear screaming

You would hear crying you would hear some screams

It wasn't just unexplained noises

The water would be turned on hot and in each sink steaming hot water would be coming up

I was very frightened and very scared of what's going on here

Soon manifestations started to appear

It was one Saturday we were getting ready to close and it was myself and one of the hairdressers

She had seen a woman coming through the front door go walking down the hall

And she had seen a woman come in through the front door

And she had seen a woman come in through the front door

She had seen a woman come in through the front door go walking down the hall

And she said I'll be with you in a minute

She called out to her son and said tell her I'll be with her in a minute

And he's like what are you talking about mom?

Like there's nobody here and she's like yes there is

She was very very very firm that there was somebody in the building

It was a person that went walking by but there wasn't anybody that was there

It would take one more incident for Kerri-Ann to admit the truth

Her boutique was haunted

Right outside of the salon we heard a woman crying very loud as if she were right in the salon with us

And my friend who is a non-believer looked at me and said you're playing a game with me

Right around the wall there was knocking that seemed like it just went knock knock knock knock knock all the way around very very loud

Needless to say that person jumped up and ran out the back door and said I will never not believe you again

That was just that okay I have a haunted boutique

It wasn't long before the paranormal activity started to target Kerri-Ann's son

I was by the cash register and I heard my son saying yes what okay

And I saw him walk out of the boutique and down the hall toward the stairs

Yes what okay

And I asked him what he was doing and he said someone is calling his name telling him to come upstairs

And I said who? He said children telling him to come up

The harassment became more threatening

When my son was at the boutique he was locked in the bathroom and he could not get out

Strange things were happening in Kerri-Ann's boutique and now they were threatening her son Carter

He was locked in the bathroom and he could not get out

I go unlock it the way that you locked it

Open the door honey

And then he started calling out and said that he could not get out

And he said I can't reach it

And even on his tippy toes or even jumping he was probably this far away from locking the door

The entity wasn't done with Carter yet and things were about to get worse

As he walked by he said I'm not going to let you in

As he walked by around the whole perimeter of the boutique

Drawers were opening, clothing was falling off the walls

There was pictures that were shaking

This went around the whole perimeter and my son looks at me with his big eyes

That's the ghost isn't it mommy?

Like that my mom protection mode came in and ran downstairs

That was the most frightening experience

Terrified and afraid for her son's safety, Kerri-Ann called in paranormal investigators

When I first met Kerri she was nervous, she definitely had some stuff going on, she was concerned

She really wanted some answers

When we first set up we bring IR cameras

We then go through with audio recorders to capture voices

There was one part of the basement way in the back that I just had a bad feeling

Didn't want to go back into that area

You definitely just get that gut feeling like okay there's something, something not quite right down here

This is definitely an active, a very highly active location

The ghost hunters suggested that there may have been a fire here in the home by the looks of one of the walls

And then she pulled out a probe is that opened when I reached for the probe

She asked just to try to fully verify what was happening

Listening for audio recorders, hearing aSlightly louder cane heading this way

suggested that there may have been a fire here in the home

and then shortly after, the little boy says, fireman.

When we heard the fireman's response,

it was kind of like one of those no way moments.

You don't always get stuff like that.

The investigators decided to see if they

could contact the former owner of the property, General Kirby,

for answers.

We were basically just trying to get General Kirby to come

out.

Our psychic opened herself up and allowed him to use

her energy to come forward.

Two seconds later, there was a giant, I mean, giant bang.

I mean, the whole house shook.

It all hell broke loose.

The mirrors in the boutique were rattling.

The pipes started banging.

I've never experienced that level of noise before.

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

It sounded like a machine gun going off.

Then the activity started to focus on Carrie Ann.

We started to feel sick.

I was vomiting.

I had gotten so sick, I couldn't even move.

And I was on the floor.

You were hearing footsteps like something was

walking around the boutique.

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

I had heard footsteps standing above me.

I was so scared I couldn't even move.

I felt like I was paralyzed.

I thought somebody broke in here,

and they're going to hurt me, torture me, rape me, kill me.

Stop it!

And as soon as I yelled, hey, stop, it just stopped.

It just seemed just to go away.

Making a demand of a spirit to stop certain activity

can sometimes work because you're

showing that you're in charge of the situation and the location

rather than them.

Despite her experiences, Carrie Ann

decided to try to live alongside the spirit of General Kirby.

In some cases, it is possible for an individual

to live in harmony with spirits because those spirits aren't

malevolent or evil, and they're just human spirits,

as we ourselves will be someday.

I moved in with them.

I moved in with the spirits that are in here.

They have accepted me being in here,

and I have learned that, OK, if I'm

going to be here in this building,

then this is what I have.

The talk of cleansing for Carrie's place came up one time,

and she was pretty much OK with what was going on here.

It adds a character to the building,

I guess you could call it.

Mostly, we feel the spirits here just want to be left alone.

Sometimes a spirit is so territorial

that it will try to physically prevent the living

from entering the space it believes is theirs.

Take one.

I was actually living in the States at the time

when my ex-husband, now ex-husband, moved up here

and bought this house.

We'd seen it online.

So he bought it before I actually saw it.

I was amazed at the openness of it.

It felt like it should be such a happy home.

And of course, there's no neighbors nearby,

so we had peace.

We had a good time.

We had privacy, everything we could want to raise a family.

I'd been here less than a month.

My children were in bed.

It's about 10 o'clock at night.

My husband's out working, and I was in the living room.

And it was this.

And the noise was unbearable.

It was a static radio.

It was very, very loud, and somebody was trying to speak.

I'm over here.

I'm not giving up, yes?

I couldn't make sense of what they were trying to say

because of the static in the background.

It must have lasted about five minutes.

I mentioned it to my husband when he came home from work.

He brushed it off.

That wasn't the last unexplained noise

Kate would hear in the house.

We heard footsteps constantly.

We'd actually hear the basement door unlatch.

And the footsteps going through the hallway and upstairs.

And my husband, who's a huge skeptic, didn't believe me.

There was always an explanation.

Oh, it's the wind.

It's an old house.

Something's happening.

And one day, he heard the footsteps.

And he said, OK, I'll believe you if the basement door,

if I hear it unlatch.

was turning into a nightmare.

Even her skeptical husband was forced to admit

something was wrong.

One day, he heard the footsteps.

And he said, OK, I'll believe you if the basement door,

And he heard it unlatch.

And clear as day, we heard the footsteps

going through the house upstairs.

There was a lot of instances of those kind of noises.

The activity inside the house began to get more menacing.

I hated being alone when I first moved here.

You knew you were being watched.

You could feel it, that somebody else was following you.

You can feel somebody close to your face monitoring you,

feeling and watching every move that you make.

It's scary.

But that's what bed covers are for.

You pull them over the top, and you ask it to go away.

Terrified, Kate asked her mother to visit

so she wouldn't be alone in the house.

But that just made matters worse.

My mother came over from Scotland just about a year

after I moved here.

But anyway, one morning she came downstairs

and said she'd had the most god-awful sleep.

She felt all night as though there was a heavy weight in her.

Almost like somebody was holding her down and forcing her down.

At one point she described what she thought almost felt like rape.

I thought, Mum, come on. Nobody's in your room with you.

Anyway, she's like, look at my legs.

And she showed me these handprints on her legs.

Big broses. Massive handprint broses on her legs.

And I thought, well, maybe she did that herself.

But then I thought, why?

It was a bizarre occurrence and no explanation.

She was petrified.

I have worked many cases where people have been allegedly attacked by spirits.

I believe personally that spirits can sexually assault you

and leave evidence of that attack.

I have seen scratches. I have seen what looks like burn marks.

I have seen bruises.

And sitting down interviewing those individuals was heartbreaking.

The malevolent force that attacked her mother

soon turned its attention towards Kate.

This was the first time I was ever truly scared of the house.

I was outside mowing.

Ah! Ah!

And I looked up and I saw a woman.

I thought, oh, my God, what's going on?

I thought, oh, my God, what's going on?

I thought, oh, my God, what's going on?

And I looked up and I saw somebody staring out the window at me.

I thought, my God, there's somebody in my house.

So I stopped mowing and I ran to the door.

And it was like running into a brick wall.

I forced myself to come in and the feeling was like something

I will hopefully never feel again.

It was so cold.

It was like walking through the thickest molasses you could possibly imagine.

And all I wanted to do was get my phone.

And I grabbed my phone and I ran out.

And I could breathe again. The pressure was off.

It was... It was unbelievable.

I mean, I called a friend of mine.

She said she'd be right up.

And by the time I got here, Kate was visibly upset.

And she said that she had come outside

and there was someone in the window who waved to her.

And I had heard that story before when the house was empty

about people coming in and out.

And there were people driving by and they'd looked at the house

and someone had been in the window.

I said to Kate, we have to be strong.

We have to go in there and, you know, be a presence ourselves.

And we just came in.

But she came with me and we walked in the door and she froze.

Every hair in her arm went up. She had goosebumps.

It was scary, the two of us.

It was fighting trying to walk through the house.

The feeling in here, we were being watched.

We were being pushed out.

It was... It was like nothing I can even describe.

Get out of this house! This is not your home!

And went from room to room, trying to be as strong as possible

and just saying, this is not your home.

This is Kate's home. You must leave.

She led the way, screaming, screaming throughout the house.

Get out of this house! This is not your home! Get out!

After we had gone through all the house, we went back downstairs.

We could just feel this rush of cold air coming very quickly.

SCREAMING

Screaming, get out, get out, get out.

SCREAMING

SCREAMING

After attacking her mother, something evil was trying to take over Kate Kirkpatrick's home.

We could just feel this rush of cold air coming very quickly, right along the hall

and just stopped right here between the two of us.

And her eyes went huge and mine were huge and she said,

do you feel that? And I said, yes.

SCREAMING

So we just said again, you cannot be here. You are not welcome. You cannot be here.

Get out! Get out!

And all of a sudden you could feel it just sort of move away again.

But, you know, your hair was all standing up and goosebumps and everything.

I'm thinking I've completely lost my marbles.

But it was happening to me and it was very real.

And it was perhaps one of the scariest things I've ever had to go through.

Kate decided to look into the house's past.

I think I started looking into it a bit more.

I began with just trying to find out the history of the house.

And this house is well known in the community for its ghosts and its horror stories.

Going back generations, I mean, we're talking over a hundred years.

What she discovered was shocking.

And it blew my mind, but it made sense that this was a ghost house.

A lot of abuse went on here towards women.

Empowered with her new knowledge, Kate contacted a friend to investigate the home.

Kate was a little concerned, being new to the community,

that she would be viewed as a bit odd or eccentric if she was to tell other people what was happening in her home.

It was actually common knowledge here that her house was haunted.

I actually felt relieved. I remember speaking to them and thinking, OK, you don't think I'm crazy.

Kimberly and her team set about trying to find the spirit plaguing the house.

I didn't have any feelings about the home when I initially came here

until we entered the room where the most activity happened that evening.

In that room, it was a very dense feeling. The air almost felt like a humid day without the heat.

One of the EVPs that we captured actually happened within the first five minutes of being in the room.

I was standing in the corner of the room, and I kept getting pushed forward.

I felt like I was being pushed. I had a hard time getting my words out.

And at the time, I could see my team members looking over at me because they were concerned,

because I was not able to talk.

And we got an EVP that says, Tell Kim I'm moving her body.

Spirits can be extremely territorial, especially if you're dealing with spirits from another time.

If the spirit man in question was accustomed to being able to go into the brothel

and have his way with the females, there's nothing saying that he's not going to do that in this time or place.

Not wanting to risk any further attacks, Kimberly organized a spirit circle to try to remove the spirit.

At the end of the evening, we do a spirit circle to try to convince the spirit,

talk to them, tell them they can leave, explain that they don't have to be here.

That night, I had an experience which I can only explain as a psychic experience because I actually saw...

Sorry.

I saw him in my head. I could see him and the women that he was keeping here.

I saw them in my head. I asked him to leave.

I wanted him to cross over to the other side.

And I wanted him to let me know that he was gone. When he was gone, I needed to sign. I wanted him to make a noise.

The spirit proved too powerful to be crossed over.

Kimberly was left with no choice but to leave the brothel.

Kimberly was able to calm the activity, but Kate took it upon herself to cleanse her home.

I think the more I heard about this house and what it was, it angers you.

I'm a woman. I'm living here. I'm obviously being affected.

But a friend of mine had said I'm the one to change it.

You know, stay there. Fight it. Fight it. And I have.

I've stayed in this house longer than anybody else in the last 200 years. I'm still here.

It's all about creating a happy atmosphere here, which is what I did for years.

This is what's going to change the house. It's going to make me happier here.

And it's hopefully going to change the house.
