Melissa Caddick's disappearance

is being treated as suspicious.

Investigators searched these cliffs
near her home

with no confirmed sightings.

Detectives say they're investigating
every possible scenario.

Melissa's the love of my life.

This was probably
one of my fondest memories,

when I walked into our bathroom

and found a love letter
on the mirror in lipstick.

'I loved the times
when we were doing nothing,

'when we were just
in each other's company,

'not having to talk.'

Just... Just being with each other.

On the 13th of November 2020,

I woke up in the morning, 6am.

Then I went upstairs to the gym,

and Melissa's son was there.

I said to him,
"Do you know where your mum is?"

He said something to the effect of,
"She's gone for a... a run".

But Melissa's phone
was in her walk-in wardrobe,

and I thought
it was a little bit strange

that she didn't take her phone.

But I was under the belief
that, you know, she was somewhere,

but I just didn't know where.

And then I started to get
a little bit worried.

I thought
I'd better ring the police.

OFFICER:
What was your name, sorry?

Anthony Koletti.

So, this is what we have so far.

Is that her phone?
Yes. OK.

So, she's gone out with nothing.

Like, no keys and, like, no money,
no nothing.

I think she's in black gym clothes,

and she would have had
silver Asics on.

We've got enough to start making
a few inquiries. OK.

Yeah, not a problem.

Police have spent
the past seven days

searching in all
of Melissa's favourite spots,

including the coastal walk
here at Dover Heights.

Dover Heights
is one of the richest suburbs

in the entire country
in which to live.

Malcolm Turnbull,
the former prime minister,

lives in the area.

It's hard to describe
just how big this story was.

It was similar to
the Madeleine McCann disappearance

because for a woman to go missing
from that area

is very rare.

People became really invested.
Where was she? What's happened?

There have been
no reported sightings.

It would appear as though
she has vanished without a trace.

So, seven days
since police were notified,

they're stuck.

So they have a press conference.

I have Melissa's husband here,
and he'd like to say a few words.

Melissa is a dedicated
and incredible mother,

a beautiful daughter,
sister and loved wife.

We are asking the community
to help bring Melissa home.

That is all.

Everything's taken care of.

The first thing I did after watching
this was turn to my colleagues

and say, "There is something
that does not add up here."

"Everything's taken care of.
You're not in trouble."

Nothing could be further
from the truth.

ANTHONY:

Because by then,

I knew that Melissa Caddick
was in serious trouble.

And he knew it.

A few days earlier...

..I get a tip-off
about a businessman.

There'd been a raid at his premises.

So I rang the Australian
Federal Police, and they said,

"Do you mean the search warrants
at Wallangra Road, Dover Heights?"

I said,
"Oh! Who's at Wallangra Road?"

And they said,
"Oh, some woman, er...

"..a Melissa Caddick."

I started to investigate.

INTERVIEWER: Hello.
Hi.

How are you?

Good. How are you?
Not too bad.

A bit strange coming back
to the old neighbourhood.

This is where Melissa grew up.

You know when you walk
into someone's house

if it's a joyful place
and there's love in the house,

and I would say
that there was love in this house.

Yeah, most definitely.

We all ended up
at high school together,

and we all sort of knew
each other and knew our families.

We were into our fashion
and going shopping,

going out and having a good time.

She was a blast to be around.

I'm just remembering those stairs.
They were a killer after a hangover.

I would have trusted Melissa
with my life.

Melissa was ambitious.

She went into her own business.

I think she did really well
for herself.

She was describing herself
as a financial advisor.

By 2020,
she's got more than 60 clients.

In some magazine,
she'd given her golden rules

for what you looked for
in an investment advisor.

In mid-2013,

Melissa Caddick sets up
a financial services vehicle

called Maliver Proprietary Limited.

See, our nice velvet lounge.

Her mission statement is,

"I'm rich, and that's why I now have
the time and the inclination...

"..to help you achieve

"perhaps not the same level
of wealth as myself,

"but I will help you get there."

And then he'd have fun in here too,
wouldn't he? Told you.

I was a registered nurse
for about 25 years.

I was a single mum.

And Melissa was interested
in assisting single mums to invest,

and I became her client.

I was quite frankly grateful
for a little bit of support.

I didn't have much of a social life
because my work demanded it.

And I lived
a pretty frugal lifestyle.

I really only ever had one goal,

and that was to get in a position
where I was able to help my children

buy their own home
when they were older.

Melissa made it perfectly clear

that I was in a position
to achieve my goals

and help my children.

And I remember thinking,
"How lucky am I?"

Melissa was a very successful
businesswoman

living in a mansion
in a wealthy suburb.

A Mercedes Benz,
an Audi convertible.

Always decked out in Dior, Chanel,
you know, the beautiful jewellery.

I'm just thinking,

"Why were authorities interested
in this woman?"

KNOCKING

ANTHONY: Snowy, sit.

'Around 6am,
I was feeding the dogs.'

Walkies?
Yes! We're gonna go walkies, yes!

'And something was wrong.'

Melissa said, "Oh, Anthony,
can you come upstairs?"

'I've come upstairs,

'and there's a whole bunch
of federal police.'

'I was very shocked.'

I was like, "What... What is this?
A drug bust or something?"

It's like, "Really?"

Like, I had no idea
what they were doing there, I'd...

'We got read the search warrant.'

I asked Melissa to open the safe
in this room over here.

Just show us where it is.

There's a Louis Vuitton watch
in a safe.

We also want to seize
any items of jewellery

that are currently being worn

Personal items were being removed
from the house.

explain to you what was going on?

She didn't explain to me anything
that was going on.

I had just assumed
that they'd made a mistake

and that everything
would go back to normal.

And that would be that.
That's what I thought.

I trusted my wife 100%.

OFFICER: So, the search
of the premises is now complete.

During the search warrant, process
police secured a number of items

to be either seized or moved.

Those items have been packaged
and labelled.

Do you agree that is all
the property that police are taking

and that there is no other property?

MELISSA: Yes.

KATE MCCLYMONT:
Investors, family, and friends,

they think the Melissa they knew
couldn't have done anything wrong.

There's been
a dreadful misunderstanding.

So I start making inquiries.

And the story takes
a dramatic twist.

I discover she's under investigation

for a major fraud

worth tens of millions of dollars.

REPORTER: Officers are searching
footage from Sydney Airport,

various marinas and transport hubs

in a bid to find missing millionaire
Melissa Caddick.

OFFICER:
Melissa Caddick was last seen

wearing her active running wear.

She did not take her phone,
no wallets, keys, nothing.

We have some serious concerns
for her safety.

Pictures are all being circulated
on social media.

If you have dashcam, CCTV,
please get in touch.

There was a degree of going out
and actively searching,

mainly around the spots
that we liked to go.

I would take my car.
ENGINE REVS

Because she would notice my car.
She'd hear my car.

The music that I was playing,
she knows.

You know, she would think,
"Oh," you know, "there's Anthony."

I can just imagine the emotion
that was flowing through him

and for her son.

And I was just hoping
that maybe she'd just gone somewhere

to clear her head.

I also had to keep myself
very stable...

trying to make sure
that Melissa's son wasn't concerned.

There's a lot of conflicting things
happening in your mind.

HE CHUCKLES

On top of that,
I'm a hairdresser by trade.

I couldn't work because of COVID.

I had to support a young child,
and I had no money.

Most of my money went
to her bank accounts for bills.

Melissa's bank accounts
were frozen to stop her from...

they said, moving her money offshore
or something like that.

I'm just thinking, "I don't really
understand what's happened."

Melissa presented herself
as a financial planner.

She would be providing
investment advice

to individuals investing
through their retirement fund

or a pension fund.

But in mid-2020,

there was a complaint made

with the Australian regulator,
which is ASIC.

There was a suspicion

that Melissa Caddick and her company
might be operating

without an Australian
financial services licence.

We started with
reviewing the documents

to put the story together.

Very quickly,
we confirmed that she was operating

without a proper licence.

Alarm bells were rang at that stage.

So, these are files
for each investor.

There were 60 to 70 investors.

Melissa said that she had set up
a CommSec trading account

in the investor's name.

CommSec is a share trading platform

where you actively trade shares.

These three deposits
on the 1st of July from investors

in amounts of nearly $2.3 million.

There were thousands of files,
but we managed to find

a number of spreadsheets
of interest.

So, to someone who hadn't
had a CommSec account before,

this looked quite legitimate.

But in fact, if you actually
looked at the statement

compared to a proper statement,

you would identify
certain irregularities.

The headers and the footers
had been copied and pasted,

but the main difference between
the two was the account number.

In this dummy one
that CommSec provided,

it's seven digits.

However, in the ones
that were provided to investors,

there were only six digits.

Nothing in the statements was real.

The account in the investor's name
never existed.

'The next question was
where was the money going?'

Thank you.

So, following the money through,

there was a number of transactions

going out
of the company's bank accounts

once the investor monies
had been deposited.

In this circumstance,
the funds from investors

was going to
Melissa's personal account,

and you'll see there
the credit of 1.5 million coming in.

So, what was she spending it on?

This month, $350,000

went to purchase just one item -

Stella.

Christian Dior for $26,000.

Flight Centre, $35,000.

She'd pay to stay at a ski lodge
every year in Aspen.

ANTHONY:
Yes, we found the wild Melissa.

They seem to like diving
into the snow.

In two weeks, Melissa had spent
$90,000 on personal expenses,

luxury items,

really nice holidays.

This was littered throughout
all her credit cards

and personal bank accounts.

To see it on paper
was quite astonishing.

OK, wow.

By now, I've heard from authorities

that we're looking at anywhere
between 20 and 40 million

is missing.

Using this information,
I write a story.

It appears in the paper
Saturday the 4th of December.

She's the con artist of the century.

I think we have four million
unique readers.

And the story absolutely blew up.

Con artist of the century.

Con artist of the century.

Melissa Caddick,
con woman of the century.

It was like, "What the...?"

I was angry because...

Let's just say, she's sitting there

watching "con woman of the century".

D'you think she's gonna wanna
come home, mate? No.

Saturday morning, December the 4th.

Oh, my... goodness me.

I thought, just maybe, she couldn't
possibly do it to me as well,

just maybe.

And I checked, and I just went...

.."Oh, yeah, she has."

I-I... erm, hm...

It was an unbelievable thing.

Because I wasn't just
one of Melissa's clients,

I was one of her
closest childhood friends.

She lived a few doors up from me
as very young girls.

We were entwined with one another.

She was at my wedding.

Melissa came to visit me
in the hospital

after I had my first baby.

And vice versa,
I was at her milestones as well.

There was trust that came with
the longevity of our friendship.

But she had been stealing everything
that I'd contributed

from the beginning to the end

and had no intention
of investing any of it.

I was shocked,

dumbfounded, and you could've
probably scraped me off the floor.

The Melissa that I knew...

she had integrity.

And then it just got worse
and worse and worse.

It wasn't just me that invested
my life savings with Melissa.

It was my entire family's
life savings as well.

Several family members,

several millions of dollars,
collectively.

I then discovered that it wasn't
just my family affected,

it was also Melissa's entire network
of family and friends.

Cousins, aunties,

other friends,
her brother's friends,

close friends of others as well.

NEWSREADER:
Her parents and her brother

were apparently among investors

that have lost an awful lot of money
in this.

These people were not billionaires,
they were day-to-day people

who had invested their life savings
with Melissa.

All up over the years,

she stole about $23 million

of everybody's life savings.

And we're all basically...

completely... ruined.

That's heart-breaking.

It was, you know, devastating.

The word I would use was...
would be too painful,

I... but I don't know how you...
if you...

I can say distasteful.

What d'you mean, painful?

I find it too painful
to talk about what she's done.

I find that really... erm...

Hm, erm...

We have a Sydney businesswoman
who's gone missing

and a multi-million dollar fraud.

It was a major story,

but when it came out,

I could never have imagined
the impact this article would make.

Very quickly,
social media went crazy.

What kind of person does that?

People could not get enough
of this story.

I was in the canteen,

and, "Con Artist of the Century,
Melissa Caddick

"may have misappropriated
between 25 million and $40 million."

I thought,
"Far out. White collar crime."

I wanted more information,

so I just typed in
"Melissa Caddick", and bam.

I jumped on the Facebook group,

Melissa Caddick
And The Missing Millions.

My name is Michael Michael,

and that's my Facebook name.

I basically provide an ironing
service for wealthy socialites.

Melissa would be my ideal customer.

I saw the news item on TV,
and I thought,

"How could a woman just disappear?
This is not possible."

So, I had a look on Facebook
for a discussion group.

The primary function
of this discussion group

was to find Melissa.

And I thought,
"This is my little project now."

People had sightings of her
on boats...

..on planes,

all round Australia.

The police were run off their feet

trying to chase down the leads
to find out

exactly where Melissa Caddick was.

And people were discussing
their own theories as well.

I believe
that she's escaped the country.

Fraudsters, they have
a "shit hits the fan" escape plan,

so obviously she had accomplices.

And that's all I have to say
at the moment. Thank you.

And I think Melissa Caddick's
husband is hiding something.

REPORTER: Are you appalled
by your wife's actions?

Do you have anything to say
to all the victims?

I understand that there's a lot
of people that have lost money.

But it's not about
a financial crime to me.

It's about a missing wife.

Melissa and I met
at a hairdressing salon

in Bondi Junction, 2005.

I did her hair.

She was married at that time,
she was pregnant,

and she had her son
a little bit later on.

But I really enjoyed
being around Melissa.

Then, 2011,

she invited me for lunch,

and we discovered
that we had the same birthday

and that we went to the same school.

As we were saying goodbye,
we just had a kiss, sparks,

the chemistry sort of ignited.

She certainly wasn't happy
in her marriage.

And the beginning of 2012,
Melissa split up with her husband.

I just helped support her, and,

you know,
I kind of took on more of a...

a father figure role
for Melissa's son.

I found her very funny and open,

and she was always herself
around me.

I wasn't with Melissa for money,

for a car,
for living in a nice house.

I just loved her.

That is total bullshit.
I'm... I'm sorry, but it is.

I mean, who's gonna believe that?

In my opinion, she was a sugar mama,

and Anthony, he's the, erm, toyboy.

..in the shade.

When I saw the press conference,
I thought,

"The suspicion lands with Anthony."

I'd say he's doing what he can
to assist us when we ask for help.

Anything we've asked for,
he'll give us,

'He isn't always ringing us.

It's, um, yeah,
a little bit different

to what we would normally expect.

See? He's not even meeting
Gretchen's expectations.

And I think she's got
low expectations in this case.

Normally, if your wife goes missing,

you'd be ringing the coppers,
"Are there any new leads?"

Mr Koletti decides no,

he'll let New South Wales Police
come to him.

It just rings alarm bells, you know?

Just reading his body language,

Anthony, I don't believe
he's trustworthy.

As husband and wife,
they'd cover for each other.

Anthony Koletti was the toyboy

that she could get
to do things for her.

She certainly wore the pants,
always, from the very beginning.

She made the decisions, he follows.

So, at this point,
we can't rule anything out.

It was possible
that Melissa was hiding somewhere...

I think she's in...

..and that Anthony was a suspect
in her disappearance.

OFFICER: How did she seem
last night?

Because soon after she goes missing,

we discovered that Anthony Koletti
had not reported his wife missing

until 30 hours
after she disappeared.

Thirty hours!

Thirty hours. I mean, who does that?

There's a good possibility,
in that 30 hours,

Anthony either helped her escape
or took her somewhere.

she could've convinced someone
to take her up the coast.

The time that she disappeared,
we had lockdown,

so we were wearing face masks -
disguise.

She would have offshore accounts,

and I think Anthony
is 100% covering for Melissa.

who, after months
of probing her books,

today laid bare her devious ways.

She was meticulous
and systematic about it.

So, ASIC present evidence
of a criminal offence

to the Federal Court.

A three-day hearing
is heard in June '21,

and in November 2021...

..the decision was finalised.

I have lost around
half a million dollars.

Everything has changed.

My mum, it's hurt her terribly,

and it has altered her life.

You know, I can't help my kids now,

like, not in the way
that I anticipated.

The devastation that's been caused
in their lives

can't be underestimated.

However, it wasn't simple for
investors to get their money back.

Assets like this house
can't be sold just yet

because Melissa Caddick is still
classified as a missing person,

and the courts are reluctant
to make orders in people's absence.

That just means
it's going to take even longer

before her long-suffering investors

learn just how much

It's actually upsetting.

'It remains a mystery as to when
and how she came into the water.'

How she came to be in the ocean

according to most people,

One, she was murdered.

Two, suicide.

And three, she escaped
and is living overseas.

People I didn't even know,

and somebody wants to tell me
what their theory is.

Every single person had a belief.

Logic would suggest
that Melissa did take her own life.

I think suicide's
the least likely option.

She was either killed
by people who knew her...

The next popular view was
that she had cut off her own foot.

The only fact that we can rely on
is that she's lost a foot.

We can't assume death from that.

She could still be alive.

But you honestly think
she's capable of...?

Absolutely. Yep.

The conspiracy theories

just went crazy, crazy, crazy.

And then we get another twist.

We finally get some insight

as to what police beliefs are

about Melissa's disappearance.

'Are you treating this now
as a murder investigation?'

Um, obviously, you know,

the circumstances of her leaving
the way that she did -

she left her keys behind,
her mobile phone,

her personal belongings,

it's suggested that
it may well have been suicide.

Police believe
the most likely scenario

is that Melissa Caddick
took her own life

after vanishing from Dover Heights.

No, I'm calling bullshit on that.

In my opinion,
no way Melissa suicided.

She has a son.

Knowing Melissa
and how she felt about heights...

no.

It just seems that that's a nice way
to wrap the story up.

Suicide?

I think a cover-up
so the police will close the case.

was it possible for her body

to have washed down to

looking at drift patterns

erm, they were able to advise us

that an object
that went in to the water,

erm, around the Dover Heights area

could likely drift down
as far as Bermagui

and even further south,
which appears to have been the case.

REPORTER: But questions linger
about whether the shoe

had been in the water for that long.

Dr Paola Magni, you're not so sure
about the timeline here

because of the barnacles
on the shoe.

what was in that brief.

After months of waiting,
waiting and waiting...

..finally, the inquest begins.

when he's first talked about
his wife going missing,

and that was pretty wild.

His story just wasn't adding up.

He gave three different versions

as the coroner's inquest continues.

I don't wanna miss anything
in the coroner's court.

I'd like to see him being asked
some hard questions.

The main one is,

"Anthony, what part did you play?"

KATE: 'I've just seen something that
I have never seen in court before.'

So, Anthony came to the stand.

Counsel Assisting
was putting to Anthony

propositions which required
Anthony to think objectively

about the circumstances.

So, the phrase
"from an objective perspective"

was put to Anthony.

It became quite clear...

The language of the questions
were beyond his vocabulary.

Yeah, absolutely.

At one stage, he just said,
"My mind doesn't work like you.

"I can't grasp what you're saying."

He's being asked to relive

the trauma of his wife
having gone missing.

He'd shut down.

He just couldn't take it any more.

The coroner, she has adjourned
his evidence for the moment

because the witness was deemed
unable to understand the questions.

REPORTER: His lawyer, Judy Swan,
said Mr Koletti was distressed.

Coroner sitting said that he should
go and be medically checked.

I tried many of my
medical practitioner friends,

and no-one would see Anthony.

All Anthony could think of was
what about, you know, the poor son?

"What about my poor son?
Just take me to McDonald's."

SHE LAUGHS
I remember him saying that.

"Take me to McDonald's."
And I started to laugh.

And then Anthony and I...
I took him to McDonald's...

There's red flags everywhere.

It seems like
he's trying to buy time.

I think he's not willing
to disclose the truth.

So, the first week of the inquest,

it escalated a lot of doubts

..does not mean
that you had anything to do

or suspected death.

It just doesn't mean that.

go for a run every morning?

Consistently.

INTERVIEWER: But she didn't go
for a run consistently.

So, that refers
to her training schedule.

So, she would train every morning,
consistently,

whether it was running, walking,
weights, whatever it was.

Don't you wanna be specific
about what she's doing

for the sake of giving the police
as much clear information

as you possibly can?

It's like a... a pastel silver...

At that point of time, I was unable
to because I was so frantic.

That's the sneakers
that she's got on.

If you're not specific, can you see
that it makes you look suspicious?

Ah, yeah, I can. I can.

Everything's taken care of.
You're not in trouble.

By saying, you know,
everything's taken care of,

is that, "Everything's OK."

I didn't wanna
keep pushing on the fact

that there was
an ASIC search warrant prior,

so that that made her
feel comfortable.

So, police didn't find out
until Friday, about midday.

Anthony, why did you wait 30 hours?

What were you actually doing?

ANTHONY: The last time
that I spoke to Melissa

was the night of the raid
at around nine o'clock.

I've come to bed,
and I've just kind of said,

"Love you," and given her a kiss.

I've fallen asleep
sometime after that...

..and woke up at 5:30
or 6:00 in the morning,

and she's gone.

You know, just... just like that.

About 7:40am,
I took Melissa's son to school.

I've gone out, looked for her.

Only because I didn't believe
that she was missing at that point.

But as time goes on, I started
to get a little bit more worried,

a little bit more worried,
and then a little bit more worried.

OFFICER:
Yeah, no, I'm just a bit concerned.

Can we go upstairs and have a chat?
Yeah, of course.

So, why did you wait 30 hours
to report her missing?

'I didn't think that you were
supposed to report until 24 hours.

'That, I know, is not the case now.'

But it was a requirement of ASIC

that she appeared in court
on the 13th.

I'd said in my mind, "Right,
if she doesn't go to court,

"then I'm gonna absolutely
report her missing."

So when she didn't show up to court,

that's when I called the police.

How could you expect that you're
never gonna see your wife again?

How could you expect that?
You couldn't.

'During the course of the day,

'you know,
my opinion is changed immensely.

'You know,
I've done a Katie 180 on it.'

I think he's a victim in this,
too.

'Having heard him today,

'I had a shift in sympathy
towards him.'

OFFICER: Anthony?

And interestingly,
we've heard from the police

that Anthony
was never a real suspect

in either the disappearance

or the possible homicide
of his wife.

What's the packed bag for?

That was for her files that
she was supposed to take to court.

Right.

Yes, there were officers
at the beginning

who certainly believed

that Anthony had something to do
with his wife's disappearance.

You keep all those doors locked,
do you?

Well, you can't be too careful.

But as detectives
dug further into the story,

this interest in Anthony vanished.

I can say from my experience
from the inquest

and speaking
to the police officers

that not one
of the police officers believed

that Anthony was a suspect

by the time
they'd finished interviewing him.

'And so we were back to wondering

'whether someone like Melissa
could have killed herself.'

Trying to understand
Melissa Caddick's personality

is extremely confusing.

Logic would suggest
that Melissa did take her own life,

but it's funny, you talk to
her victims, and they say,

"You don't know Melissa like we do."

The people that knew her,

they describe her
as incredibly organised, efficient,

and I think, because of that,

they were convinced
that there was an exit plan.

People were very doubtful
that she would have self-harmed.

INTERVIEWER: Could you tell me,
what are you looking at?

Er, so, I'm looking at an extract

from the forensic
psychiatrist's report

that was done for the inquest.

And they go back
to Melissa's early history.

There was some problem with her hips

which meant that
she had to wear special boots,

and she had to wear nappies
until the age of seven.

That probably involved humiliation
and shame for Melissa.

It sounds as though Melissa
compensated for the feelings

from that earlier period
by wanting to impress people.

I would say, like, lots of us
have features of narcissism

in what we do
in an everyday sort of way,

but these narcissistic behaviours
or aspects of character,

with Melissa,
seems to have developed...

..into an intense level
of narcissism...

..where a person needs admiration
to a greater extent than is usual.

She became obsessed
with her appearance.

And then as time progresses,
that theme seems to grow.

I think that's, erm,
probably to any length.

Erm, her cover was blown,
and there was no way out.

In terms of the emotional self,
that feels like dying.

The exposure would have been
too much for her.

Yeah.

There is a barrier to overcome
in terms of, "What about my kid?"

But if the pressure towards suicide
is strong enough, then...

..mothers do.

You know,
she's done a terrible thing,

and she won't face justice.

I think, "Well, what
a terrible, pathetic person."

Yeah.

Yes, I can. I can.

Erm, I definitely can.

A lot of the investors
I'm really fond of.

There's a lot of people involved
that I really care about,

so I do feel like
they would feel pretty bad

that they've lost money.

I'm sorry for that.

People that don't know me,

presume that I've done
whatever they've heard.

Now he's peering through,
trying to film me.

I don't.

He has me trapped
inside of the garage,

What do you think
is more interesting?

Like, it's one of those things -

you are painting a picture,
and you need to, you know,

present something
that captures their imagination.

"Senior officer thought
Melissa Caddick's husband,

"Anthony Koletti,
likely killed her...

"..inquest hears."

'As far as I'm concerned,
he's playing dumb.

'That's a strategy.'

No, Anthony is involved
in her disappearance.

He's helped her.

No.

In other opening lines, we've said,

"Police do not believe
that he killed her."

So there has been a balance

of how the information
presents itself.

INTERVIEWER: Well, the bottom line

is no-one fundamentally thinks
Anthony's guilty,

and yet the narrative
seems to be he's suspicious,

and I wonder how
that would make him feel.

I can't imagine
how it would make him feel.

I've lost the love of my life.

And I've done nothing wrong.

I can accept
that she has committed crimes,

but it doesn't make me
love her any less.

Despite everything. Because...

I-I loved her and that...
It doesn't change that.

'It's not about
a financial crime to me.

'It's about a dead wife.'
