seen.

man in any walk of life,

- Stone Cold with a beer bath.

- This is surreal.

- Look at this.

- He slammed him.

- Welcome, everyone to WWE's
Greatest Moments.

I'm Michael Cole,
and on this edition,

we're looking back at the very
best of the icon,

simply known as Goldberg.

With an NFL career behind him,
Bill Goldberg burst onto

the professional wrestling scene
some 30 years ago.

The industry has never been the
same.

- There is nothing like
Goldberg.

- Oh.

- More amazing by the victory.

- Just when you think you've
seen it all from Goldberg.

- Goldberg ran roughshod over
the WCW roster,

racked up an undefeated streak
like no one before.

- The most talked about win loss
record in pro sports.

- But it all began

with victory number one.

- Spread your legs quickly, and
just go-

- After, only like 2 or 3 months
in the Power Plant,

Bill had enough fundamentals

that we could take him
out of the Power Plant,

and now put him out in front of
a live crowd.

- Hubris to face

a newcomer here in Bill
Goldberg.

A man we know absolutely nothing
about.

- No one knew who he was.

Like you thought maybe
Goldberg was the enhancement

talent, but he just got shot out
of a cannon.

- How about that backflip?

Nicely done by Goldberg.

- And a big powerslam.

- And the crowd was like,
"Whoa, what is this?"

- Combination slam.

One, two, three.

- He got him.

- Whoa.

Bill Goldberg out of
obscurity.

- The plan was to be so simple
and so devastating,

and so quick,

that people are like-

"Did you-
did you just see that?"

- I'm not I sure I've seen
anything quite like it actually

maybe ever.

Man that's special.

- You absolutely got in there
and manhandled him tonight.

Sir, I've got to get a
little bit more than that.

- I wanted to be something
completely different

the people have
ever seen before.

- Very impressive.

But who is this guy, Goldberg?

- It became clear to us that
Bill was now going to be

on a very accelerated
flight path.

- What a debut for Bill
Goldberg.

- The entrance.

The anticipation.

Goldberg was truly nothing like
anyone had ever seen before,

and he was quickly
climbing the WCW ladder,

setting the professional
wrestling world on fire.

- He is ready.

- In less than one year,

he has run through the
competition.

- Now with an impressive
undefeated streak,

the Atlanta Adonis
looked to capture

his first singles title

against the United States
champion Raven.

- The focus,
the intensity-

In the eyes
of Goldberg,

- The match between
Raven and I

was definitely something
to remember.

It was the start of the new
beginning.

- Look what Raven's doing-

daring Goldberg to come get him

- The match-

Oh, that was awesome.

I mean, even though the match
only lasted a couple of minutes.

- And now across the back hard.

- He can't get through it.

The power of Goldberg.

- He's a football player first,

so it's a natural
instinct thing for him,

you know, to come in
with them explosive moves.

- There's a spear.

The fans are up.

He's going for it right now.

- No.

- Jackhammer.

Two, three.

- We got a new champion.

Goldberg is open for business.

- He did his talking in the
ring.

And as the expression goes,
he wasn't being paid

by the hour, nor the word.

- Chalk up victory number 75 in
a row.

- I was rewarded that night.

- Goldberg is the United States
Champion.

- The brute force of Goldberg
could not be denied.

- Goldberg-

about to explode.

- He's- Orton down.

- Oh what a spear.

- This opposing force literally
ran through his opponents

with the explosive move
known as the spear.

- Everybody that's been
put in front of me,

I've destroyed.

- The most amazing
thing about Bill,

he's really the originator
of the spear.

- He's speared him out of his
boots.

- Pretty easy.

It's a football background.

The only thing I've ever wanted
to be is a football player.

That's my identity.

- A spear on the world's
strongest man.

- That guy was absolutely on
fire.

- The spear was pure,
just physical,

beat down and intimidation.

But the one that stands out for
me is when he did it

in the Elimination Chamber.

- It is 10 tons, 20,000 pounds-

with two miles of chain
surrounding it.

And tonight six men will go in
and one will survive.

- The Elimination Chamber was
just a hefty monster of a rig

that you just could not break
through.

- No, no.

Jericho on the outside.

- Don't turn around Jericho.

Run.

- Oh.

God almighty, Jericho-

May be broken.

- That's the force of a Goldberg
spear

as it goes through
bulletproof Plexiglas.

- Good God almighty.

- He almost broke people in
half.

I mean, Goldberg was
unbelievable.

Poor Chris.

- My God what a slobberknocker.

- The myth of Goldberg was
something

you had to be there to believe.

No one dominated the sport and
captured the audience's

attention with such sheer
presence.

- You're next.

- Which takes us to WCW
Halloween Havoc 1998.

Goldberg defended not only his
World Heavyweight Championship,

but the unbelievable undefeated
streak

of a now 149-0.

- The man is here.

- Bill had the it factor
times a billion.

- The intensity level for this
match is so high.

- He was such a natural athlete.

- Top wristlock by Goldberg.

Notice how Goldberg just
completely flipped over

and landed on his feet.

- Diamond Dallas Page.

He helped me out exponentially.

- Russian leg sweep.

- He's trying everything.

- He's done it.

Goldber's got it.

Two.

Holy smokes that was close.

- He done a lot of things that
were mind blowing.

- That was just sheer
brute power.

- Goes for the spear.

Page avoided it.

Goldberg hit the post.

That could be it.

Spear.

But Goldberg's hurt.

- I was a true defensive lineman
on that night.

- Page has got the Diamond
Cutter on Goldberg.

One, two-

Goldberg's out at two.

- But it didn't end there.

He kept going.

- Page's going to try a suplex.

Forget about it.

Goldberg's got him now.

Jackhammered him down.

One, two-

It's Goldberg.

It's Goldberg.

- Boy he earned that one.

That's why he is the man.

- That's why he is undefeated.

- That match-

it brings one of the largest
smiles to my face ever.

- An act of respect right there.

- This is what it's all about.

- That's what's great about this
profession.

- He had a hell of run, man.

A hell of a run.

I'm super proud of him.

- That was a remarkable match.

My God, I love this sport.

- If you're still doubting the
explosiveness

that is Bill Goldberg,

then you haven't been paying
much attention.

The feats of strength this man
was able to accomplish

is something of legend,

especially when it came to his
finishing move-

the dreaded jackhammer.

- And he jackhammer's him down.

- But there was one man-

Or should I say one "Giant" that
people doubted

could be hoisted above the
mighty Goldberg's head

- Giant's got him in a
chokeslam.

- Standing at an immersive seven
feet,

the Giant stood tall over World
Championship Wrestling.

But was he any match for the
king of the jackhammer?

- He wants to
get his

hands around
the Giant's neck.

That's what Goldberg
wants.

- I just wanted to come out
there,

and I wanted to smash people.

That was it.

That's what people wanted to
see.

- He's met by a spear

- He took him down-

541.5 pounds.

- What, no.

- He's going to pick him up.

- The jackhammer?

I can hold guys up there for
as long as humanly possible.

The Giant-

I knew if I could do it to him,
that I could do it to anybody.

- The biggest athlete in pro
sports is up.

- He did it,
he did it.

- He was a freakishly strong
individual.

- He did it.

- He slammed him.

He's the man.

He is the man.

- In 2001, World Championship
Wrestling closed its doors

and many of the top WCW stars
found their way to WWE-

- Woo.

- -and one man was noticeably
missing-

Goldberg.

As The Rock was in the ring,

laying the verbal smackdown
to a raucous crowd

on Monday Night Raw.

- The Rock just- don't give the
Rock a finger.

He'll come out whip that candy
ass just like that.

- The most electrifying man in
Sports Entertainment

was about to come face to face
with the most dominant man

in professional wrestling.

- You know, the fact of
the matter is this I left,

I went to Hollywood,

I came back,
and I get booed.

You can all kiss The People's
ass.

[crowd boos]

- The Rock will tell ya this-

- Wait a minute.

It's Goldberg.

- I know it's Goldberg, but
where is he?

- He's here in Seattle.

- Ah.

- I think that coming from WCW
to WWE and making that splash-

it had to be with the right
person.

- Goldberg and The Rock.

- What do you do once they're in
there?

And the idea with Goldberg,

if you're going to play
your cards right-

He's going to run people over.

- You're next.

- What?

- Oh God.

- Oh that's the- look at this.

- Goldberg taking down The Rock.

- Oh my God

- Goldberg came in-

just what he should have
come in-

with The Rock.

- We welcome you to Backlash.

- I cannot wait for The Rock and
Goldberg.

It's going to be huge.

- With two individuals such
as he and myself-

that's all you need.

- Oh, no.

Oh and he speared The Rock.

And Goldberg calling for it.

Picks up the Great one.

- Oh my God.

- Jackhammer slam.

The jackhammer slam by Goldberg.

And he does it.

- I think he was instrumental

in my success immediately
at the WWE.

- A new era of Goldberg.

- As Goldberg speared his way
past The Rock,

he set his sights to his next
victim,

World Heavyweight
Champion Triple H,

- Triple H that World
Heavyweight title is mine.

- Goldberg versus Triple H.

One on one.

Unforgiven for the World
Heavyweight Championship.

In a match that pit the face of
WWE against the face of WCW,

Goldberg looked tot dehrone,

The Cerebral Assassin,
at Unforgiven 2003.

- This is what our
business is all about

to see who's the best.

- You got the perfect back guy
in Triple H-

You got this monster over here
in Goldberg-

Oh my God.

Big fight feel

Goldberg coming out was a big
fight feel.

- Oh, look out.

- We know about Goldberg-

Raw power.

- That's Goldberg's game plan.

Believe the hype.

- In the height of his career, I
can remember working with Bill,

you know, as much as it's a
fight in the big fight feel

and all those things,

but yet the emotion of it is an
enjoyable process that

fans connected with,

and I think they felt it.

- Winning a championship,

it was the driving force.

It was the meat and potatoes of
the story.

- I don't believe it,

but Goldberg is actually back to
his feet.

- A spear.

Triple H is up.

Will it be?

Jackhammer.

Jackhammer.

The jackhammer.

The hook, the count.

- Whoa.

- It's over.

Goldberg.

Goldberg.

- Anytime you're at the top of
your profession,

you have to step back for a
second and kind

of smell the roses and
go, "Wow."

It meant everything.

- Goldberg, by God,
he has done it.

- Maybe I have one more ass
kicking left in me.

- After 12 years away from
the squared circle,

Goldberg announced the
unthinkable-

he was returning to WWE.

His first opponent, the Beast
Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

- There's only one ass kicker

and you're looking at him.

- If there was one superstar in
history who could rival

the brutality of Goldberg,

it was certainly Brock Lesnar.

With so much time past, would
Goldberg be able to prove he

still had what it took to be in
the ring with the very best?

[yelling]

- Being away from
the business

for a very long
period of time,

there's a lot of doubt,
in all honesty,

because the fear of the unknown

sometimes can be very
overwhelming.

- A surreal moment

at Survivor Series.

- They gave that crowd
something-

I don't think anyone in that
crowd was expecting to see that.

- No fear from Goldberg.

- Spear.

Goldberg hit Lesnar with a
spear.

A spear from out of nowhere.

- Goldberg may shock the
world.

- Goldberg looking to end this
early.

Goldberg again with a spear.

Two spears the Lesnar.

- I was overwhelmed.

I knew Bill was going to pull it
off.

I just had no clue to what
level

he was going to do it.

- Goldberg's looking for a
jackhammer.

- Goldberg's feeling it.

He's looking for the jackhammer.

A jackhammer to Lesnar.

Here's the cover.

Oh my God.

Goldberg beat Brock.

- The Survivor Series surprised
us all.

I would be a liar if I said
anything different.

It shocked people.

And that's what you want from
this business?

- A monumental upset.

- In 2017, Goldberg was fully
back where he belonged

in WWE.

Though, since his last run,

things have changed a bit.

- I want to thank my beautiful
wife.

I also want to thank my
wonderful little boy

'cause he gave me the desire
to be that superhero again.

So thank you son.

- It had been 14 years since,
Goldberg held the world title.

He now had a wife and a young
son, all rooting for their hero

to do it one more time.

- So you bet your ass I got one
more title to run left in me.

[crowd cheers]

- And at Fastlane,

he took on Universal Champion
Kevin Owens for one more shot

at championship glory.

- Take your shot champ.

- Oh you want me to take a
shot?

- Take it champ.

- Guess what?

I'm the WWE Universal Champion
and I don't care who you are.

- I like this side
of Kevin Owens-

Defiant.

- Working with Kevin Owens
was-was awesome.

It was short.

It was sweet.

[bell rings]

- What the hell?

Spear.

Spear.

The bell rung.

Spear by Goldberg.

Spear by Goldberg.

Oh my God, Goldberg-

with a jackhammer.

Here's the cover.

Goldberg's the Universal
Champion.

- Because his son got to
experience it with him,

it was so much more special
for Bill this time around.

- Goldberg gets one more run as
a superhero.

- Winning a championship,

and being able to show your
eleven year old son,

and your beautiful wife-

It was a dream come true.

Anybody who would tell you any
different is a liar.

- I saw his son looked so happy

to hold the title and my son got
to do that.

I got to share that with my
son.

And I'm glad Goldberg got to
share that with his son

and his wife.

- Here son.

[laughing]

- That's the real one.

- Incredible.

- It's now time for our number
one moment.

And it's one that still has the
world buzzing.

We've seen what an unstoppable
force Goldberg

had been throughout his
entire career,

but longtime fans know that
there was an irresistible force

known as "Hollywood" Hogan,

- I'm the champion of the world.

Hogan was the reigning WCW World
Heavyweight Champion

in July of 1998,

but Goldberg could not be
denied his opportunity

at World Championship gold.

- Goldberg ain't nobody.

He's not in the same league as
Hollywood.

- Over 40,000 fans packed the
Georgia Dome to see

the undefeated United States
champion Goldberg

take on "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan

with the world title on the
line.

- Goldberg has answered

every challenge to date.

- With 107 victories.

- Despite the fact

that this was the story
for Goldberg.

Hogan had been
here for so long

that it just seemed impossible

that he would lose.

- And it could be the night
where Goldberg walks away

with the gold.

From arguably the greatest
champion our sport has

ever had in "Hollywood" Hogan.

- It's about being in the right
place at the right time.

Every bad guy needs a good guy.

Hogan needed somebody.

- if I'm going to be the bad
guy,

we need another Hulk Hogan.

- Okay.

There's part one.

Now finish him off.

Finish him off.

- What better way to beat Hulk
Hogan than beating Hulk Hogan.

- He's got him up.

- When Hogan is upside down for
that jackhammer, it is chaos.

[crowd cheers]

We got a new Heavyweight
Champion of the world.

- Hogan, put me over in front of
45,000 people

in my hometown at the time-

Atlanta.

What a cool deal that was.

- Bill Goldberg.

He's on top of the wrestling
world.

- It was the coolest night of my
wrestling career.

- One thing is for sure,

there's never been a man who
took this industry by storm

like Goldberg,

and there never will
be again.
