I'm Michael Cole, and on this
edition, we're looking back at

some of the very best of
The Prizefighter himself,

Kevin Owens.

Our first moment brings us back
to 2014 and the highly

anticipated debut of NXT's
newest signee, Kevin Owens.

- A highly anticipated
debut for Kevin Owens.

- I waited for that moment for
so long, so long,

and I remember everything
around it was so exciting.

- I was welling up with tears.

I was just so proud and so happy
for him.

- Whoa.

My God.

- He's always been charismatic.

He's always been talented.

It's not surprising when you
love someone and then everyone

else appreciates it too.

You're like, "Good.

I'm glad you're seeing what I'm
seeing."

- I'm here.

And I'm changing everything.

- Oh.

- My nose got broken.

Blood was splattered all over my
face.

- Kevin Owens-

I think he really proved to
everyone watching when he

debuted that he was here to make
a statement.

- Pop-up Powerbomb.

[crowd yells "One, two, three."]

And Kevin Owens, with the
victory here tonight

at his debut.

- The whole night was so
surreal.

And to get to go celebrate with
Sami at the end.

- Sami Zayn the new NXT
champion.

The NXT locker room

coming out to congratulate Sami
Zayn and his best friend

Kevin Owens.

- He won the title and it looks
like everything's,

you know, great.

We're going to walk off
together.

I chose to do something that
would change everything.

I drop him.

Powerbomb on the
apron.

- Sami's the ultimate underdog
who gets his moment in the sun,

and his best friend debuts on
that night,

and now his friend is out there
to support him,

and then he just stabs him in
the back

because "You're stealing my
thunder, man."

- It was the culmination of 15
years of work for me.

I really can't put into words
how special that night was.

- An act that certainly shocked
the WWE universe, especially

when you consider the history of
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

These two literally grew up in
this business together and were

best friends, and now the fight
was on as one of the most

intense rivalries in WWE history
was born.

- For Sami Zayn, the one thing
has been his Achilles heel-

Getting over Kevin Owens.

- You know, it's hard to
differentiate personal and

professional sometimes.

It's kind of all mixed together,

especially when it
comes to Kevin.

- And it just we somehow bring
out the best in each other

to when it's real,

I think fans just feel that.

- Oh my God.

- Oh man.

- Good grief.

What?

- Look at 'em go.

- We had a lot of
really good matches,

but something that
night just hit perfectly.

- That kind of chemistry is not
something

you could ever duplicate.

It's not something you can
manufacture.

- It feels like a really big
moment.

There's no title involved.

There was nothing at stake.

- Helluva Kick.

But it was another Helluva Kick.

- He wanted the fatal blow.

- Sami Zayn knocks off Kevin
Owens.

- We wanted to kill it.

We wanted to rock the house and
show them what really,

what, you know,

our-our story has
always been about,

and the stuff we could do
together.

- Somebody call the sheriff.

These boys just stole the show.

- It was our friendship ending-

Who's the best?

- Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are
certainly a case of keep your

friends close, but your enemies
closer.

Sami Zayn is about to be a

sacrificial lamb for the
Bloodline.

Kevin Owens is back.

Friendship is not an accident.

- For 20 years, whether we were
fighting each other or fighting

alongside each other, I've been
your biggest fan.

The Usos may be blood, but our
bond is thicker than blood.

- All signs pointed to the main
event of WrestleMania 39,

night one, with the Tag Team
Championship on the line.

- For a tag team match

to headline WrestleMania

was extremely significant
because

before it had always been
focused on individual rivalries.

- KO-mania
and Wrestle-Zaynia.

- Sharing these experiences with
people you care about are what

makes it really worth going
through.

- Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

have never won tag team titles
in WWE.

Kevin Owens taking The Usos out.

- Any time that you have talent
that are as seasoned as

The Usos, Sami Zayn and
Kevin Owens,

you are going to have an
instant classic.

- Sami bringing the fight to
Jey.

Cannonball coming.

- The story and everybody's
contribution

made it the undeniable
main event.

- Helluva Kick.

Cover.

The Bloodline be damned.

- For me and Sami, there's no
other tag team

we could have done that with.

It was just such a surreal
experience.

Just all the stars aligned for
that to be the way it was.

- An incredible outpouring of
emotion.

- It should be to the surprise
of no one.

Kevin Owens isn't afraid to
speak his mind.

And in 2017, the McMahon family
found that out firsthand.

Unhappy with SmackDown
Commissioner Shane McMahon,

KO let his feelings be known.

- Why do you need to do all
these things to-

to-to get the spotlight?

Is it because your daddy didn't
give you enough attention

when you were a kid?

- There was no other option than
the chairman

of the board to step in.

- Last week you
come out here,

you disparage
McMahon name.

You make heinous, derogatory
comments.

- Things heat up.

- We shake hands and he's
pulling me in

and he's talking so much,

saying the worst things he can
say.

And I'm like, "Okay.

And I just-

- Oh my God.

- No.

- Oh my God, I headbutted that
man so hard.

- The boss ends up eating a
headbutt from Kevin Owens

that leaves him
instantly bloody.

- It madefor a really wild
moment.

I remember calling my wife and
she was like,

"You're going to get fired."

I'm like, "No, I'm not.

This is what he wanted."

- Don't you dare, Kevin.

- No, Kevin, no.

- Vince is being helped to the
back, and he's beat up, clearly.

But everybody's fine.

Everybody's like, "That was
great."

You know?

"What are you gonna-

He wanted you to headbutt him.

What do you think's gonna
happen?"

- Come on, Dad.

- So violent in so many ways.

It was a very elevating moment
for Kevin Owens only.

- Come on Dad.

- Kevin Owens, I'm going to beat
you beyond recognition

where I can extract my revenge
after the hell you put

me and my family through.

So come on down here.

- The animosity between KO and
the McMahons had literally

reached a boiling point.

- Owens with the Pop-Up
Powerbomb.

- The stage was set for a WWE
first a "Falls Count Anywhere"

match inside the demonic
structure

known as Hell in a Cell.

- Five tons of steel
lowers to the floor.

It is 20ft from the floor to the
roof of this cell.

- Don't forget this match is now

Falls Count Anywhere.

- The kid who watched WWE his
whole life-

Shane was one of my favorite
performers.

- We were in Hell in a Cell,

how then do you create this
atmosphere and the excitement

where everyone is just,

"Oh,"

and they want to see
more.

Man, I get goosebumps thinking
about it.

- What is Kevin thinking right
now?

- Oh no no.

- Kevin Owens is climbing the
Hell in a Cell.

- And I realize as I'm up there,
I'm looking at the crowd

and I'm like, "Holy [bleep],
this is really high."

- Kevin Owens can't will himself
to do it.

- Oh, no.

Where the hell is Shane McMahon
going?

- Oh, and here we go

on top of the cell.

- One of the moments I'll
remember the most

about the match-

- Shane's not letting him go.

Oh my God.

- -that really hurt a lot
actually

Actually, I remember that.

It was a really hard fall.

- Shane McMahon is once again
going to the top

of the Hell in a Cell.

Shane, oh my God.

[bell rings]

- We both ended up walking out.

I mean, he barely made it out,
but um,

fans were excited in Detroit.

- I don't even know if Kevin
Owens is aware

of what the hell just happened.

- Okay, here we go.

You're in the big time now, man.

- As we see with Kevin Owens,
friendship can be fleeting,

especially when there's
championship gold at stake.

After Bad Blood 2024,

an altercation between KO and
undisputed WWE Champion

Cody Rhodes took place
in the parking lot.

- Kevin, no.

- You crossed the line.

And this lesson-

I'm gonna beat it into you.

- The two former friends were
set to wage war on a night WWE

went retro at the resurgence of
Saturday Night's Main Event.

- Cody Rhodes versus
Kevin Owens

for the undisputed
WWE title.

- When I started watching WWE,
that's the title that everybody

had that I wanted.

I'm like, "Well, I'm
winning the title,"

you know what I mean?

- In a match like we're having,
a lot of fans will look at it

and say, like,"Here's our two
workhorse guys.

They're out there going and
doing it."

- Cross Rhodes.

Oh, and Owens sends Rhodes
inadvertently into our official

Cross Rhodes onto the chair.

Cody gets rid of the evidence,
hook of the leg.

Referee Charles Robinson back up
and Rhodes retains the title.

Kevin Owens is going to be
frustrated guys.

- But that's not the end.

The show goes off the air.

- Long Island.

- Kevin Owens drops him with a
package piledriver-

a move that had been banned
in the WWE for years.

- Very surreal moment because at
that time

it's just a wrestling move,

but it's the wrestling move that
I invented when I was a kid.

And here I am doing it in WWE on
a main event star.

- It looked like he broke his
neck.

- People were pissed.

- The next thing I know, the
title gets flung from my hands

and I don't know what happened.

I look up and I see
it's Triple H-

very raw and real.

- In 2016, Kevin Owens struck up
an unlikely friendship

with Chris Jericho.

The duo were as dominant in the
ring as they were entertaining.

- You're the best friend ever,
Kevin.

- I love you.

- I love you too, man.

- But as we've seen
throughout the program,

Kevin Owens is a hard man to
read.

Unfortunately, Chris Jericho
didn't do his homework.

May I present to you the very
extravagant

Festival of Friendship.

- When you think
of all of the

best friends
hroughout history

all of them pale
in comparison

to Jericho and Owens.

- Chris Jericho and
Kevin Owens were

going to have a party to
celebrate their friendship.

- Owens and Jericho are in.

Let the fun begin.

There's a lot of gifts to give

to you, my friend, to prove
how much you mean to me.

- And then you know the gifts
with the weird statue and the-

And the painting and-

- Oh my God.

- Everyone knew something bad's
gonna happen.

I got you something, too, but
it's really not much.

Especially not compared to this,
but-

- If anyone would slight
Chris Jericho in any way,

they'd have a physical
list and he'd write

your name down on that list.

- All of a sudden, he gets the
list of KO.

- How come my name's on this?

- Oh my God.

Kevin Owens is beating the hell
out of Jericho.

What is going on?

Oh.

- Takes talent to do
something good,

but it takes something
extraordinary

to do something memorable.

And this will go down as
extremely memorable.

- Oh, no.

No, no.

- Just two months after Kevin
Owens made his impactful NXT

debut, he did the unthinkable
and won the NXT Championship.

When John Cena, held the United
States open challenge,

The Prizefighter looked to
make even more history.

Come get some.

- Somebody got the chance of a
lifetime.

- Oh my goodness.

- Ladies and gentlemen, that is
the NXT Champion Kevin Owens.

- My wife knew I was about to
come out, so she filmed my son.

- Going against John Cena?

- Hello, John.

This beginning of a new chapter
in my career is something

I had waited my whole career-

My whole life pretty much.

When it comes to your little
US open challenge.

My answer is, uh, no.

- He has a personality that
demands attention, and

I'm always a exciting figure to
come out and brush up against.

- And if you think that you have
me all figured out,

you're going to realize.

- Oh, Owens with a cheap shot.

And look at this.

The Pop-Up Powerbomb.

- In your face statement from
Kevin Owens.

- It wasn't just I'm starting on
my first night with John Cena.

I'm laying him out.

I'm stepping on the US title.

I'm leaving that night as the
guy who dropped John Cena.

- Kevin Owens wants to make a
name for himself,

and Kevin Owens just did.

- In 2016, the biggest
opportunity of Kevin Owens

career came when a fatal four
way match was set for the WWE

Universal Championship.

- Fatal four way

to determine the
new champion.

- Kevin is such a talented guy
that just felt like he just

needed the opportunity
put in front of him.

- There was build to it, so you
can kind of feel it coming,

but at the end of the match
where Triple H comes out and

then realize, oh, "He's helping
me win, I'm the new guy."

- What the, wait, wait, wait a
minute.

Kevin Owens the cover.

Kevin Owens is the Universal
Champion.

Kevin Owens is champion.

- Pretty great moment to share
with Hunter because

he's the reason I got there.

And then he's the one literally
handing me the title on Raw.

- What did we just witness?

- If you look back at the
footage,

I look really blown away.

From the time I was 11
years old,

I pictured that moment thousands
of times.

- This may be the most shocking
moment

in Monday Night Raw history.

- It's special as a performer
for the career that I've had and

getting to experience these
things, but it wouldn't be

nearly as special if I didn't
get to share them with all these

people I care so much about.

- Watching him win the title, I
couldn't believe what I was

watching, and it was only once
he walked through the curtain

that it just it punched me and
it just completely lost it.

That was really special.

It was really the culmination of
that journey, man.

It was crazy.

- It really doesn't get much
better than that as far as my

career is concerned.

I really it's really hard to put
into words.

- We have now reached the number
one moment, and it's a moment

that Kevin Owens himself willed
into reality.

Growing up, Owens idolized WWE
Hall of Famer

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin,
and dreamt of one day

sharing the
ring with his hero.

- Got to my phone and saw this
text right here.

Today at 10:03 p.m.

"Great job.
I love that match."

Steve Austin.

- With the Texas Rattlesnake
long retired,

KO coerced Austin back into the
ring by calling him out.

- I know you're watching,

and I don't think you have the
guts to show up

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

- Austin accepted the challenge.

- You are fixing to
get your ass kicked

by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

- He'll go face to face with
Kevin Owens in a match that

truly defines dreams coming
true.

- You're about to see

against Kevin Owens.

- When the bell rings and we
start trading punches-

- Austin and Owens teeing off at
WrestleMania.

- -it still didn't feel real.

- Look at the fire in the eyes

- And we're just kind of like
kindred spirits, if you will,

as far as the love and passion
for the business he was all in.

commentary table.

- The only time in my life I was
jealous of Kevin Owens

was wrestling Stone Cold at
WrestleMania.

- Owens is gonna do it.

- I don't know of another
industry where there are more

stories of people getting to
wrestle

and go up against their heroes.

than I could have
expected.

And he's had one of the greatest
careers ever.

Cold fan.

And then somehow, all those
years later,

I end up main eventing
WrestleMania with him,

it's, uh, just so wild.

- There's no doubt that the
career of Kevin Owens has been

filled with jaw dropping
excitement.

And there's still-

Michael, stop.

Stop.

You know I have a problem with
you, by the way.

The moment we just talked about
the match with Stone cold,

you weren't even on
commentary for it.
