I'm Michael Cole, and on this
edition, we're looking back at

the greatest moments in the two
time Hall of Fame career

of the one and only Booker T.

The Booker man has one of the

most decorated careers in all of
professional wrestling.

The five time, five time,
five time, five time, five time

WCW champion

- Holding 21 titles, the most in
WCW history.

King of the Ring.

He's the voice of NXT.

A coach on LFG.

- When they feel you, it's in
here.

- And he even had a Latin Grammy
Award winning

Bad Bunny song about him.

- Can you dig it, sucka?

- There's no denying the
charisma

that comes with Booker T.

- Boom.

Right there.

Right there.

- And one of his signature moves
is the infamous spinaroonie.

There's nothing like seeing
Booker get in the zone

to get the crowd hyped.

But many fans wonder where the
genesis

of this break dance took place.

- Major League
Wrestling fans

we're taking our
first look at a

new tag team
here in the area,

Booker T and
Stevie Ray.

- When it came to wrestling,

I didn't know what was
going to happen.

I had to do everything to make
it happen.

I used to love dancing.

You were a kid from the
neighborhood

and you was all for the dance.

Breakdancing was really, really
huge.

I said, "Man, I'm gonna try this
now,"

so I started breakdancing.

- Wow, check it out.

- Whoa.

What do you think of that,
Gary?

- When I got a chance to just
bring a little bit of that world

inside of the wrestling ring,

I learned the power of
entertainment that night,

and it's been a part of my
career ever since day one.

- I think the spinaroonie
started out thid cool thing

that Booker could do and
slowly morphed itself.

It just takes on a whole life of
its own.

- JR here it is.

Right here.

- Here it comes.

Here it comes.

- You're about to witness.

- Oh, it's the most
electrifying-

- Spinaroonie I've ever seen.

- Had the spinaroonie, had leg
thing.

He had the hook.

- He'd look at that hand.

The flair for drama-

- Starts with the hand,
of course.

You know, after one knee, all
the centrifugal force

comes from the dreads,

you know, shake-

Once you shake the dreads,

it goes through the body all
the way down to the legs.

- Everybody's doing
spinaroonie's-

All over the country.

- You want to see The Rock do

The Rock-aroonie?

[crowd cheers]

- I did the spinaroonies-

Everything changed.

It was pretty awesome to see the
effect that it had on not just

those fans, but throughout my
whole career.

- Upon their debut, Booker T and
his brother Stevie Ray dominated

the WCW tag team scene as Harlem
Heat.

With their manager Sister Sherri
by their side,

the duo were undeniable in the
ring.

- Harlem Heat is the most
collectively cohesive

unit in professional sports.

- And it didn't take long for
them to have the opportunity

at their first tag team
championship against the team

known as Stars and Stripes.

- Booker T and Stevie Ray

looking to become
yet another

great brother tag team
to hold the belts.

The most prestigious tag team
award in the sport.

- We were pretty good as a tag
team, but we did know that we

wanted to be the greatest tag
team

that ever put on
a pair of boots.

- The right foot right in the
eye.

- What a match we have going on.

Two teams giving it their all.

- My brother played his role.

I played my role.

We were a cohesive unit.

Both of us brought the pain in
our own way.

Together we gelled.

- We had good chemistry.

People came to see us.

People wanted to see us.

We took pride in that.

- The Patriot missed the
clothesline,

so did Stevie Ray.

They both go down.

And I don't think they're the
legal man here.

- Come on.

- Here's a cover by Booker T.

That's not the legal man.

Two.

Three.

- That's good enough.

We've got new champions.

- That's one of the matches that
everybody remembers.

It really solidified us as
players in the game now.

- The World Tag Team
Champions.

- It was a hell of a night
winning our first

WCW Tag team championships.

They let us know that we were on
the radar,

and let us know we had a
chip in the game.

- Straight to the top of WCW.

- That's something we always
took pride in, is that we played

an intricate part of WCW going
to the next level.

- They let us know that that was
the beginning of

something very, very special.

- Booker T eventually went on to
have a very successful singles

career in WCW as well.

But on March 26th, 2001, World
Championship Wrestling would

close its doors for good.

- I, Vince McMahon, bought my
competition.

That's right, I own WCW.

- The last Monday Nitro aired
with a special title unification

match between world champion
Scott Steiner,

and the United States Champion
Booker T.

Booker T looked to
end the WCW story

by holding not one but two
championships.

The final telecast of Monday
Nitro on TNT,

a historic day in Sports
Entertainment.

- The end of WCW was the end of
an era.

If you were there, you
definitely felt a certain way.

- A lot of people backstage,

it was like, "What
the hell's going on?"

It was shocking.

- We're going out with the bang.

All the titles on the line.

Here we go.

- That's a match that I remember
vividly-

Like seared in my brain.

- Booker T brings into this
match heart and athleticism.

And a Harlem sidekick.

- We did the best show that we
could do.

- Steiner's got him in his
clutches.

Oh.

- Scott went out there-

He made me look good.

- Booker T, calling to the fans

[crowd cheers]

- Put me in a position where
I was making history.

- Here he comes.

- It was awesome.

The energy in the arena was
fantastic.

- Picks him up.

Booker T lands on his feet.

He's got-

Book End.

- One, two.

Could it be it?

Yes it is.

- Yes.

- Booker T.

He's got two titles.

Give him all the hardware.

- It was awesome,

as an African American youth,

watching someone like Booker
do great things.

- We wanted to have, you know,
happy happy, joy joy.

last night for the WCW
audience.

It was the right thing to do to
put the championship on him.

- I felt really good.

I'm the US champ and New World
champ,

and I closing the company down.

This is a good night.

- While WCW was ultimately
purchased by WWE,

many of WCW's former superstars
began invading WWE programing.

- WCW's Dallas Page, DDP.

- It's Lance Storm.

- The WCW wrestler.

- Many were anticipating the
arrival of its champion.

- We are at our main event in
the King of the Ring.

The triple threat match to
determine the richest prize

in the game.

- Booker T said

"I want to be a star on the
biggest platform I can."

Booker had enough confidence in
himself to step up and say,

"Put me in."

- Wait a minute, what the hell?

- That's, that's, that's-

Booker T, he's the WCW champion.

- The WCW champion has just
attacked the WWE champion.

- Coming from WCW and coming
over to WWE,

I was ready to go out there and
show those guys

I was just as good
as I said I was.

- Oh my God.

A sidewalk slam.

Booker T-

Just threw Stone Cold.

- "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

bounced off the top this table
all the way to the floor,

Bang.

- My first thought was-

"What in the F just happened?"

- What the hell?

- When you take out one of the
top guys in your first day-

makes people look at you a
little bit differently.

- Booker T has decimated

the WWE champion.

- It was a great night for me.

I was pretty hyped up.

- Booker T came through the
crowd

is leaving through the crowd,

but he has done his
damage.

- Our next moment would lead to
an intense rivalry between

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin
and Booker T.

- Stone Cold-

disguised as a fireman.

And Booker T running for his
life.

- As much as Booker T tried to
evade the Texas Rattlesnake,

there was nowhere safe to go.

- Attention shoppers,

there's cans of whoop
ass on aisle two.

That's aisle two.

Here's a blank canvas

that Booker T and I are going to
have an opportunity

to paint together.

- Action.

We created magic.

[yelling]

- That's Austin.

Austin attacking Booker T.

[yelling]

- Two guys lettin' loose in a
grocery store.

It was a spectacle.

It was a great piece of
entertainment.

- As he's beating Booker T up,
he's able to do all the

catchphrases for the products
that he's using on him.

- Do you have any Grey Poupon?

Huh?

Have some Grey-

[yelling]

- Oh, I like to shop

- Everything that Steve said was
ad lib.

Everything that I said was
ad lib.

- Please I won't do it no more.

- You look like you could
use a cold one, Book.

- Oh God.

[yelling]

- The grocery store stuff with
Steve,

the ability to make an ass of
yourself is an art.

He didn't care.

He was all for entertainment.

That's how Booker was.

- Booker with a shot to the jaw
of Austin.

- Thanks Book.

You got milk.

- Oh, got milk.

- "Man, we could really get
something out of this."

That's what I'm thinking.

- You want to burp?

[yelling]

- Something like this with
someone like Booker T,

who embraces the theatrics
and the drama

and the shenanigans that go with
it, is all the more fun.

Price check on a jackass.

- It was a moment that people
got to remember

for the rest of their lives.

Oh, Imma get you.

- When you think of the most
outrageous duos in WWE history,

you have to mention the odd
pairing of Booker T

and the bizarre Goldust.

- Sucka.

- These two formed an unlikely
partnership that led to some

of the most entertaining
moments in WWE history.

- Tell me, I don't look like
that.

- Welcome to the
premiere edition

of Goldust and Booker T
at the movies.

- What up dawg?

- Me and Booker- the odd
couple,

completely opposite, and our
chemistry just clicked.

Man, it was so easy with Booker.

- Booker, thank you.

Thank you very much.

- The entertainment part-

He was perfect for it.

- Man, take that gold crap off.

- To me, it was just another
match made in heaven.

It was some of the best stuff
WWE has ever done.

- But I ain't no Star Wars geek.

I ain't never watched the movie
and never will.

We didn't know how big it was
going to get,

or how much the fans were going
to really buy in,

and how much they were
going to love it.

Can you dig it sucka?

- The music hit-

The place erupted and I was
like, "Holy hell."

- The World Tag Team Titles on
the line here at Armageddon.

Everybody's here for the same
thing,

and that is to walk out

the new World Tag Team
Champions.

Booker T and Goldust

perhaps in the eyes of many,
the emotional favorites

here tonight.

The Book End

Jericho walked into The Book
End, for the win.

- Oh no.

What?

- Booker T and Goldust
have done it.

- In the beginning it was just a
novelty but at the end,

people felt a certain
way about it.

Everybody in this arena, they
believe in Gol D and Booker T.

- By 2003, fans were digging
Booker T as he had proven

himself to be one of the most
popular

WWE superstars of the era.

- I will become the new
Intercontinental Champion.

Now can you dig that sucka?

- So needless to say, when
Booker challenged the villainous

Christian for the
Intercontinental Championship

on Raw,

it was a clear odds on favorite.

- I can dig this.

Booker T getting enough
for opportunity

for the Intercontinental
Championship.

- That is the workhorse title.

And Christian and Booker T are
both, in my opinion, workhorses,

so I was excited as a fan to
watch them.

- And here we go.

The Intercontinental title is
officially on the line.

These men know each other very
well.

They have developed one
hellacious rivalry here.

- Look out.

- I remember just having so much
fun,

and the chemistry
Christian and I had.

It was awesome.

- Two guys, who can absolutely
go in the ring.

- Oh, no.

- Christian and I we had been
working together for some time

and the championship just had
been eluding me and eluding me.

- But Booker T-

Oh, doesn't miss
with the Scissors Kick.

That's got to be it.

Will it be?

Yes it is.

Booker T, Booker T has done it.

- After one, two, three,

crowd erupted.

- Finally, Booker T has fought
his way to the mountaintop.

- Winning the championship was
really, really cool.

That was the moment.

- Finally, for the first time

Booker T is the Intercontinental
Champion.

- The pageantry of the King of
the ring tournament

has been one of the most
celebrated events for decades.

- They proclaim ye the King of
the ring.

- The 2006 finals took place a
Judgment Day

when Bobby Lashley
battled Booker T,

and while we didn't know who
would be crowned that night,

we never expected the winner to
become such a royal pain.

- Superstars compete
in a tournament

with the winner

being crowned the
King of the Ring.

So this is it, the finals and
the King of the Ring tournament,

- Bobby Lashley,

like the young powerhouse,

you look at the guy looks like
a million bucks.

- Lashley's feeling it.

Sharmell got his leg.

Come on.

- He is gonna, of course,

cheat at some point to win.

- What the hell?

- No way.

- All hail King Booker.

- It wasn't just that he won the
tournament,

it's that he put the crown on
his head,

and he put that single pinky up
in the air.

- I'm gonna make sure that this
character is something that

people are going to remember for
the rest of their lives.

All hail King Booker

- I don't know why he had an
English accent.

- Who is this rogue?

What is this unsightly maiden?

To be able to snap back from my
British accent,

to gettin' really hot,
to talk like a street kid.

Put the damn crown on my dome.

"Put the damn crown on my dome."

- He had the ability to pull off
just about anything.

Like one of the most
entertaining characters ever,

King Booker.

- I could not have been King
Booker without Queen Sharmell.

She had to play a role and do
the dastardly deeds

she would be there to do it,

every time.

- It's like King Arthur coming
out with Guinevere.

- Long live King Booker.

- With his pinky held high,

King Booker led a tyrannical
reign

over the SmackDown kingdom.

- You will kiss the royal feet

of King Booker.

- God.

- Oh, man.

- But his Majesty sites were set
on more than just a crown.

At the Great American Bash 2006,
his Royal Highness promised to

vanquish Rey Mysterio of the
World Heavyweight Championship.

It is a big fight feel
here tonight

in Indianapolis Indiana.

- You're in for a beating
tonight, Rey.

- The champion Rey Mysterio and
the challenger King Booker.

This will be one hell of a
matchup.

- Working with
Rey Mysterio

who I always considered

as my favorite wrestler.

- I remember going out there
with Booker T

and the chemistry
was just there.

- Oh, wow.

- To me, the guys that are
really great in this business

are guys that can do it all.

It's what to me puts Booker in
the top echelon

is his ability to tear it up.

- Royal Book End.

- Book End.

- The Royal Book End.

King Booker is world champion.

- It is the King's time.

- That was an incredible match.

Wow.

- The only king to ever win that
World Heavyweight Championship.

It meant a lot.

It meant a lot.

- Long live the king.

- It is now time for our number
one moment.

We've spoken about the
impressive resume of Booker T

with as many championship
titles,

but let's go back to the very
first world title.

Booker T was finally granted the
opportunity.

He had waited his entire career
for.

- Opportunity has knocked, and I
will be damned

if I don't answer that door.

- A World Championship match
against Jeff Jarrett

at WCW's Bash at the Beach 2000.

- Opportunity knocks
and Booker T

has stepped through
the open door.

- I always wondered if the fans
wanted to see a black champion,

if the fans really wanted to see
me in that position,

or they didn't wanted Jeff
Jarrett to win, I don't know.

- Look at that agility.

Is he amazing?

A drop kick to boot.

- His athletic ability.

He had hops,

as we say, scissor kicks and
spinning back kick.

- Booker T and Jeff Jarrett
brawling through the crowd,

giving the fans everything they
bargained for,

quite frankly, a little bit
more.

- I was like, "Wow, they really
care about me.

They really wanted to see me
win."

- Booker doesn't see Jarrett.

He caught him.

- Yes.

Book End.

Book End.

Book End.

There's the referee at two.

Three.

- Yes.

Yes.

- It's over.

- Oh my God

Booker T's the world champion.

- It's very, very important to
see people who look like you

doing great things, because it
just gives you a visual

confirmation and affirmation
that you too can do it

because you've seen it done.

If Booker T can do this,
so can I.

- Anybody who knows Booker T
behind the scenes like we do

knows that he is a man deserving
of this moment.

- It's one of my most fond
memories in my career.

I'm the guy that Booker beat,
become the world champion for

his very first time.

And I'm pretty proud of that.

- It's every young man's dream
to be the champion.

And on this night, Booker T
earned it.

- I was a part of it.

And I'm definitely happy to have
been part of it.

It was a moment that changed my
life.

- Booker T is the literal
embodiment

of hard work paying off.

Which garnered him Hall of Fame
status not once, but twice.
