ever in Canada.

And it's developing hardcore
right on top of us.

First Canadian chase ever.

I want to get close, Brandon.

This severe weather,
believe it or not, just takes

a big old jump up to
the U.S.-Canadian border.

Saskatchewan in Canada
getting severe weather,

and then the high pressure
area expands.

All right, guys,

patiently waiting to cross
the border.

First Canadian storm chase.

All right, we are rolling.

Really excited to see what
Canada has in store

for us today.

I am looking forward to show
you guys an insane

Saskatchewan tornado.

I am Brandon Copic.
I'm a full-time storm chaser.

The biggest reason
I chase storms

is my passion for weather.

The side reasons,
which are equally as important,

is keeping the public
aware and safe.

Showing people live what's
happening, that way they can

react when severe weather
strikes their area.

How many times
have I chased in Canada?

This is actually my first time
ever in Canada.

We're watching the storm
and there was enough energy in

the atmosphere for it to spin
like a top, but the cloud bases

were high, so it's easy for it
to be a tall, skinny tornado,

or a high-base tornado.

They are very
visually appealing.

So we were focused on the sole
aspect of getting as close

as possible to the tornado.

I did not expect it to go that
easy, honestly.

My name is Connor Croff,

and I'm a full-time
storm chaser.

I was chasing full-time before
I was even 20, and so being one

of the youngest people doing
it, I definitely feel a little

extra edge to get out there
and-- and prove myself.

consider myself to be a very

competitive chaser, as well as
what some people would say more

of a risky storm chaser.

I just like to do whatever it
takes to get that best shot.

I knew I wasn't gonna be
able to make the journey solo,

The mission was to live stream
my first tornado outside of

the United States.

We are blasting towards
this storm.

The land of Canada.

There's a tornado watch out for
Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Looking pretty good today.

My name is Aaron Rigsby and
I'm a professional storm chaser,

and I've been chasing storms
for 15 years now.

The reason I chase storms is
that storms are never the same.

No matter how many years you've
been chasing, no matter how

many tornadoes you've seen,
to have something so unique

and so different and keep
leaving you awestruck,

it's just, it's addicting.

I'm tired, but I'm here,
and I'm ready to see

a Canadian tornado.

Tornadoes in Canada
are very different

from, you know,
the traditional tornado alley.

If you're getting a tornado
in Canada,

it's a hundred percent
gonna be beautiful.

And it's not gonna be
rain-wrapped.

It's not gonna be
this murky wedge.

It's gonna be a tall,
dusty pipe of a tornado.

I want to get that
up-close extreme shot.

These pictures are very
important to get out there

to the public,
but it does come with a price.

We put ourselves in more
dangerous situations than any

normal person will ever
experience in

their entire life.

Oh, there's a base!
I got a base!

Big scud.

Scud is a cloud which
is pulled up by the storm,

and that usually means that
the storm is kind of gaining

strength and starting to--

starting to drop that moisture,
which is

what a storm needs to do in
order to produce a tornado.

You can see this beautiful
supercell beginning to develop

in front of us, already warned.

We're gonna blast towards
this thing, get right under it.

Uh, we might have a tornado on
the ground right now.

OK, rolling.

My name is Ricky Forbes,

and I am a professional
storm chaser.

I've been chasing storms
for 14 years.

As a Canadian storm chaser,
doing that on our home turf

makes it special.

Where we're going here?

We're going left, yeah.
South right into this.

We're about 30 kilometers away
from it.

Something I really love about
storm chasing is trying to be

the closest one to
these tornadoes to get

the absolute best footage.

But you're messing
with a massive animal.

You know, I say, like,
storm chasing,

particularly if there's
a tornado on the ground, like,

you're getting in the cage
with the bear.

It's coming to life.

You see those low-lying
clouds there?

Yeah.

That's right
below the rotation.

If it does go, like, this will
be a tall, tall, [bleep]

cool tornado.
- Yeah-- yeah.

All the parameters were there
for EF-2 tornado.

Like, that is massive for
a tornado in Saskatchewan.

We had Kelly McLellan
driving with me.

And in the back, we had one of
the top drone pilots

in the world, Luke Bredar.

What's happening, Luke?

Just trying to be ready
because I know when it happens,

it's gonna be time to go.
- Yes, sir.

No second tries.

Our goal with the drone was to
fly a 360 around the storm,

you know, seeing the base,
seeing the top.

Who can be the closest?
Like, that's what matters.

Everybody wants to get
the most badass shot.

OK, yeah, we'll go--
we'll go up further.

We're going as fast as we can
down this road,

trying to find a way up.

What?
What?

Why?

And with that,
our map stopped working.

You know, these roads are often
roads made by farmers,

and they're not listed.

- Ricky?
- What's up?

That's a dead-end road, boys.

That's what's going
through our mind.

We shouldn't be down here.

We should have went up,
back there.

Yeah.

OK, just on some gravel road.

Up in Canada,
everything's different.

You don't have as good of
radar, so you really have to

focus on your skill set
and your instincts in order to

chase successfully up there.

It looks like it may be
beginning to rotate

on the backside over there.

Um, if it does,
boom, tornado city.

Oh yeah, massive
hailstones coming down.

This looks pretty good, guys.
I'm getting pretty pumped.

When you have hail wrapping
around the tornado like that,

it was just a combination of
excitement that I'm getting

close to it
and even more excitement

because it's about
to fully condense.

That is our rotation
directly above us.

We are now chasing the storm,

and it's developing hardcore
right on top of us.

coming out of it.

I was thinking,
"This is amazing!"

Base that's like thousands of
feet up into the sky,

and then the tornado slowly
reaches down.

So, I just saw it
as an opportunity to get

as close as physically possible.

Hay bales just
rolling around out there.

It got intense pretty quick.

As I moved closer to it,
it became better and better.

It turned into a really intense
storm really quickly.

I would definitely say that
the fear of death can add to

certain chases,
just the intensity of it.

This is a violent tornado.

I got a big-time surge coming
over top of me now.

Yep, we are
inside the tornado.

Wow.

Whoa!

Just threw a freaking sign
over top of my car.

I realized at that moment
we were in danger.

You need to watch out for
everything else that's going on

in the situation
that's also a hazard.

That thing is just ripping.

Oh, it's right here.
Holy [bleep].

We could see the tornado.
It was on the ground.

But it was still much too far.

Like, we wanted to be within,
like, a kilometer or closer to

get the footage
that we're after.

But something I've learned in
storm chasing is that

this tornado could be over
at any moment.

And what do you wanna do?

Do you wanna keep
driving towards it,

hoping that it stays?

Or do you wanna get out
and just make the most of what

you have right now?

OK, I'm hoping.

Yep.

Yeah, dude!

Yeah, that is...

a bummer.

I'm gonna go back here
and then east

to get a better view.

As I'm approaching
this tornado from the north,

I know I'm in a dangerous
position because I'm in

what we call the bear's cage,
similar to you being in a cage

and the tornado is the bear.

When a tornado starts to get
toward the end of its life,

it can make these very chaotic
movements, and that's exactly

why being in the bear's cage
is so dangerous.

Wow.

I start to creep just
a little bit closer.

I'm finally gonna get that
up-close shot.

Oh, [bleep].

But then the tornado just
stops right on the gravel road

in front of me.

And I quickly realize that
the tornado is starting to

expand closer toward me.

Oh, no!
Oh!

I'm backing up!

Good Lord!

I had an incredibly
close call.

My eyes got a little bit
bigger than what they were

supposed to, and nature's
reminding me at that very moment

that at the end of the day,
she has the final say on how

close I can get to
this tornado.

Ah.

What just happened
today, guys?

What happened?
Canada happened.

It expanded on top of me.

It's like,
"I'm backing up!"

I had hay bales
bouncing across the road.

Oh, give me a hug, brother.

Oh my gosh, we freaking did it.

That's why you drive 18 hours
overnight to Canada, baby.

We had a significant
tornado that literally was

on top of us.

You get too close or something
and, well, hopefully you learn

your lesson because sometimes
if you get too close,

you won't get a chance
to learn your lesson.

We went up,
freaking epic tornado,

and now we're back in the US.

What a day!

We've got an intense ridge of
high pressure building in

right through the middle part
of the country.

Drops out of Canada,
blows up with intensity,

but also a little extra twist,

tornado threat's gonna be
out there.

I'm currently going up to
northern Minnesota

to chase storms.

My name is Tanner Charles.

I'm a professional storm
chaser, and I've been chasing

for 16 years.
Minnesota, born and raised.

I grew up chasing here
my whole life.

Like, I've chased almost every
single Minnesota setup there is.

As we're progressing,

I'm seeing all these
tornado warnings and--

and the environment
and how it's materializing.

I was definitely feeling
hopeful about the day.

I'm really curious what's gonna
happen with these storms.

Getting into the town of Motley
right now.

Yeah, am I crazy
going north when

I know there's a good
chance south?

Nah, I'm-- I'm--
I made my decision.

It'll be good.

That day was mostly a Minnesota
play in my eyes.

I did know that there was maybe
something going on in Nebraska,

but the bust potential out
there was very high.

Like, going out there

and seeing nothing was
very high.

There's always gonna be risk
when you go out.

You just don't know what's
gonna happen.

There's always potential
for things not to go right,

or you miss the storm of
the day, but I can't be

in two places at once.

So Minnesota was always
gonna be my choice.

There's one report of a tornado
on the ground with one of

these storms, and so I'm getting-- getting going kind of late.

But I'm feeling pretty good
about today,

and I'm excited to go up.

So yeah, uh, let's see
what happens.

I storm chase
for the adventure.

It's like, "What's gonna happen?

"How are we gonna get there?

What kind of storm
are we gonna see?"

All right, this is our storm
right here--

As I'm going up there,

Storm chasing is a very
close-knit community.

It's so much fun just to be
able to get out there and chase

with my friends each and every
day, one of them being Tanner,

who I've chased with
for years.

We're friends,
but we're also competitors.

Storms are no longer being
stubborn here, guys.

Storms are no longer
being stubborn.

In fact, we have ourselves
a bomb going off

right in front of us here.

Waking up that morning,
there was a really good setup

shaping up in central
Minnesota, but we didn't have

enough time to get there.

Thankfully for us, there was
another target that was

setting up in Nebraska
and we knew like, this could be

an epic tornado.

- We got Mr. Eli Noyd here...
- What up?

...running the ship
and obviously myself, of course.

You can hear me yapping
in the background.

This is an absolute unit of
a storm going up here, guys.

It's just south of
North Platte, Nebraska, here.

- This is a home turf chase.
- Home turf.

Anytime I'm chasing in
my backyard,

it definitely gives me an edge.

I know the roads like
the back of my hand and I'm very

familiar with how storms
develop in my home turf.

We got ourselves a supercell
exploding right now.

In fact, it just went
severe warn.

Heck yeah!

We just got a severe
thunderstorm warning on it.

At the end of
the day, it's a gamble.

We don't know which target is
gonna end up yielding

the best results.

So you just gotta go with
your gut and play with it.

We have been bagging
tornadoes nonstop.

And when you're on a hot streak
like that, you have no other

choice but to
continue grinding.

My head was purely just like,
"Let's go.

It's another day,
another tornado."

And now you get to do it all
over again.

You just kinda get to build
momentum and just carry over

from-- from the days past.

Yeah, we messed up
a little bit today.

We should probably be,

uh, in Minneapolis,

but I stayed too far west.

But I'm hoping we get a storm
going here in

the Nebraska target.

I was mad because I thought
I was gonna miss big tornadoes

in Minnesota,
and I was gonna be stuck

down here in Nebraska.

I was fully expecting
the Minnesota target to

outperform the Nebraska target
in terms of tornadoes,

and I just kinda swallowed
that pill and accepted it.

Whoa!
OK, I've gotta go.

Gosh.

Oh, yeah,
that's the wall cloud.

Oh, yeah, dude.

A wall cloud's a good indicator
that the storm maybe is

rotating, the base of the storm
is getting lower,

and that tornado potential is
maybe higher.

Nice base with this.
Look at that.

The wall cloud looked
really good.

I could see some rotation
in it.

And I felt-- I felt really
great about my decision.

And so as I'm watching this,
I'm like, "Oh, dude, it's--

it's gonna drop."

Oh, yeah, possibly tornado,
right there, right there.

Yep, yep.

Whoo!
Look at her dance, baby!

Let's go!

Wow, multi-vortex.

Whoo!
Big cone, man.

That's huge.

Whoo!

Wow, dude,

All right, I need to figure out
where I'm going.

There's like nowhere else
to go.

These roads end.

OK, tornado's still there,
but yeah, we can't--

we can't get any closer.
Kinda done.

The roads were just coming
to an end.

But there's some potential to
make a good amount of money

out of this chase day.

Footage is everything when it
comes to storm chasing,

when it comes
to monetizing yourself.

So yeah, I was feeling
pretty good.

Oh, so wild, dude.

Of course, Nebraska has one.

So then I look at radar
and I see down in Nebraska,

things are really starting
to pop off.

I wonder if Freddy's on that.

Oh, I'm pretty sure
he is, yeah.

I see it right now.
Closing in.

Look at the funnel!

The funnel's coming down!

My mission on this day is
I'm just hoping for redemption.

I was missing out on some
incredible tornadoes up there

in Minnesota,
and I just want a chance.

There's also money that's on
the line.

Getting incredible
footage of these tornadoes,

that's really what pays
the bills, and if I don't get

good shots, I'm not gonna
make good money.

Oh, my gosh.
About to be underneath it.

We're gonna take this west,

and we're gonna
drive up underneath it.

I instantly ran back
into my car.

And now it won't turn back on.

The lightning messed up
my camera equipment.

I'm like, "Wait a second.

Maybe I'm a little bit
too close."

I could just switch cameras
'cause I was freaking out

trying to get--

Holy crap, that was big hail.

All right, we gotta cook up on
this thing.

That's some intense wind
right there.

Any time you lose
a side window like that,

it can completely derail
your chase.

All of the elements are now
coming through that window,

and you're essentially exposed.

Got big hail coming
down, though.

That was a massive
stone, dude.

- Yeah, oh,
it hit right in .
- Hey, bro.

Here, there's gotta be a south
option somewhere.

I got an idea.

Right in the back of the ribs.

Oh, it's scary to get out.

We were pretty much the only
people down there

on this tornado.

And for me, that made it even
more special and even more

rewarding because hardly
anybody else got this thing.

The Minnesota target
was the bust.

You know, I picked
the wrong storm.

Well, the storm is definitely
gone now.

That's not good.

I was feeling pretty bummed.

Yeah, I might bail on this.

Well, this is just
how storm chasing is, man.

So sometimes you just
don't know.

You just have to make your bed
and lay in it.

Freddy, look at this!

It's turning colors.

It's getting bigger.
It's getting stronger.

I'm pretty confident that
this tornado had winds

in excess of 200 miles per hour.

And, if it would've
hit something,

it would have been really bad.

Be careful of the hail!

This is one of the craziest
tornadoes I've ever seen.

Pretty tough being in
Minnesota and seeing, like,

the tornado of the decade
go down.

You know, you're just thinking
back in your head about

what I could have
done different.

But the answer to that
is just to let go.

You just gotta roll
with the punches.

You know, you just,
you can't predict them all.

You can't be there for all
of them.

Good frick, dude.

I mean, I thought I got some
good footage

today, but that's...

I would give my kidney
for that.

I got ahead
of the other chasers.

As I'm thinking,

"Man, I wanna
get closer to this."

Ah, I just got hit in
the shoulder with a golf ball.

Oh my gosh,
that's getting close.

Holy smokes, I think
it's coming at me.

We gotta be ready to run.

We'll start reversing
just in case.

It's not even close to dying.

That's the thing.

This thing's not even close
to dying.

It's-- I think it's coming
at me.

When the tornado crossed
right over the road,

we all got split up.

Connor went south,

and Eli and I just pretty much
tried to hold our ground.

It's a really dangerous mindset
to try and one-up yourself

every tornado intercept,
because eventually you're gonna

one-up yourself into
the tornado, and then you're

not gonna be able to one-up
yourself anymore.

- Thank you.
- Yep.

Gotta back up, back up, back up.
Power lines are coming down.

They're about to come down
on top of us.

Here come the lines.

I was right on the other side

It came north at me.
I had to flip around

and run quick.

I probably should have backed
up sooner, because the tornado

could have brought down that
whole row of power poles

on top of me.

This one was scary,
like dangerous.

As soon as I started feeling
the car shaking and stuff,

I was like, "OK, you win,
tornado, I'm gonna--

I'm gonna get out of here."

I don't know how close
you were, Connor, but--

Uh, close to where
I actually started fearing for

my life when it started
to come north out of nowhere.

Yeah, that was the tornado
intercept of my life.

I am now shirtless,
missing a side window,

glass everywhere,
probably bleeding.

All right.
Can we get out of the rain?

Dude.

I'm so-- after today, bro.

after today, I cannot be upset.
- Come here.

- Dude.
- I can't believe it.

- I thought you died.
- You thought I died?

Well, 'cause-- at the tornado
started to cross the road,

I just see
your lights disappear.

- I'm like, "Uh-oh."
- Dude, I hear my walkie,

"Uh, is Connor
on the other side--"

I'm thinking-- I'm like,
feeling around for it.

I can't feel-- the tornado's
coming at me.

- I'm just like, "I can't."
- Dude.

On this day,
we accomplished the mission

and then some because
this tornado is the greatest

I've ever seen.

Everything you want a tornado
to be was that tornado.

It was powerful,
it was long-lived,

and most importantly,
it didn't hurt anybody.

We're so cooked, everybody.

We're all so cooked in
the freaking head right now.

It was the best tornado
I saw in 2025.

It was already such
an insane year.

I'd already seen so many
tornadoes, and then to have

a tornado of that caliber
just kind of top the year,

it's just so incredible.

Yeah, I don't think I'll ever
get a tornado better than that.

Uh...

Yeah, uh, I'm gonna be--
I'm gonna be hunting

for something better than that
for the rest of my life.

So we're gonna just
call it a night.

We're gonna go back to
North Platte and eat

our freaking steaks.
