Welcome to this recital thing

by Aubrey Wilmslow and his troupe.

Now, one thing about being British

is that these days,
we are not stick-in-the-muds.

So if there is something new around,

we are quite prepared to give it a go,

whether we like it or not.

Anyway, here is my brother, Teddy.

Aubrey Wilmslow first came
to the attention of the critics

when he recited his
compelling poem Stark Naked.

I'm not surprised.

Now, this is my latest poem
for voice and Singerphone.

You know, I've just been thinking, Ivy,

if that man hadn't saved
Mr Stokes' and Mr Twelvetrees' lives,

they wouldn't have been alive
to save The Honourable Teddy's life.

They did a lot of lifesaving
in the trenches, didn't they?

- Has he gone?
- He's gone.

I'll go and tell Mrs Lipton
and Mabel it's all over.
