that has seen that footage

cannot explain what that is.

technology that

nobody really has.

[Narrator] And mysterious
formations on the ocean floor.

It looks like a flat,
oval-shaped platform.

[Narrator] Is it possible that,
hidden within Earth's

vast underwater realm,
is an alien presence?

anomalous activity

would seem to indicate that
there is some kind of

underwater UFO base.

U.S. military drones

patrolling shipping lanes
off the coast of Yemen

detect a small,
unidentified object

flying rapidly over the water.

Believing the mysterious craft
is hostile,

they fire a missile
to destroy it.

But when the warhead
impacts the object,

something unexpected occurs.

[Richard Dolan] On the video,
you see a Hellfire missile

hitting a fast-moving object,
but nothing happens.

You do see something
coming off of the impact.

But by and large, that object
appears to have been

fundamentally undamaged.

That is an extraordinary event.

[Tsoukalos] The footage
is quite amazing

because three smaller pieces
fall off the object.

And then, these three
smaller pieces,

they don't just fly off
in different directions.

They stick around
and follow the larger piece.

And then, inexplicably,
the video cuts.

Military personnel
thought this was serious enough

that they needed to bring this
to the attention

of members of Congress
in a classified briefing.

[Narrator] One member
of Congress

who learned about
the sensational video

was Representative Eric Burlison

of Missouri,

and on September 9th, 2025,

he presented it during
a congressional hearing on UAPs.

[Eric Burlison] This video
was talked about widely

amongst the intelligence
community for months.

I'm told there's a longer
version of that video

where this object traveled
for some five minutes.

I felt like
the American people deserve

to judge for themselves
what they see in that video

and what-what the content is.

We actually put in a request
to the Department of Defense

to get access
to some of this footage,

and we were denied access.

What I will say is that

every single individual
of the military

that has seen that footage
cannot explain what that is.

What we are being told and
what we have seen evidence of

is that this tech
is not any tech

that any government
has currently.

[Narrator] Aerospace engineer
Dr. Travis Taylor,

a former member of the U.S.
government's UAP task force,

was part of a team assigned to
analyze the sensational footage.

[Taylor] The original analysis
done of this video

was that this was a fast-moving

dirigible type vehicle

because it reacts in the way
that a balloon reacts

when you hit it with a missile.

The problem is that it was
moving too fast to be a balloon,

but there was not enough data
from this video,

from the radar tracks,

from any other information
to tell us

exactly what this object was.

[Tsoukalos] The fact that
this Hellfire missile

essentially just
bounces off the object-

this is technology
that nobody really has.

Or the question then is,

who has it? Is it us?

Is it the Russians?
Or is it E.T.?

[Narrator] Could it be
that the unknown object

was not destroyed
by the Hellfire missile

because it represents technology
from another world?

For UFO researchers,

what makes the footage
even more compelling...

[pilot] My gosh!

[Narrator] ...is that
it is just the latest

of dozens of UAP videos

captured by the U.S. military...

[pilot] Look at
that thing, dude.

[Narrator] that show
strange craft flying

over Earth's oceans.

[Burlison] We've got

multitude of witnesses
that have come forward,

and there are many reports
of unidentified objects

that are in the ocean,
some of which are

traveling at tremendous speeds

and depths.

[Pope] The focus of this mystery

is now shifting
from the skies to the oceans.

For example, when

the U.S. government

set up the UAP task force,
it actually sat,

in terms of command and control,
under the U.S. Navy.

And when the initial
media reports broke

in The New York Times
about the existence

of the AATIP Program,

it was the U.S. Navy

who put up
the spokespeople for this.

So again, Navy, Navy, Navy.

[Dolan] We're seeing a bit
of a breakdown of the old system

of secrecy that has
been in place for many decades.

And as a result of that,
I think we're-we're seeing more

individuals from the military,
Navy, and other services

as well, who are feeling
a little more

emboldened now to come forward
with what they know,

in terms of the UAP mystery.

[Narrator] Retired U.S. Navy
Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet

has experienced several
of these incidents firsthand.

[Tim Gallaudet] We know that
UAP are occurring

in the ocean, and there's
been many observations.

In 2015, when I had sailors
under my command

on the USS Theodore Roosevelt

off the U.S. east coast,

and the aircraft carrier was
conducting flight operations.

The pilots were seeing
multiple instances of UAPs.

And they were having
near midair collisions.

And I learned about this
from an email I received

on the Navy's secret network

that said, in all capital
letters in the subject line,

"Urgent safety of flight issue,"

and attached was a video
of the now famous

"Go Fast" video,
which has been declassified.

[Gallaudet] That convinced me
that that wasn't our technology

or adversary technology
because I had been read into

all the threat capabilities.

I knew, convincingly,
that that was something

that was not of this world.

[Narrator] Not only have UAPs
been witnessed above the ocean,

but some have even been seen
going in and out of the water.

[man] It's gonna go
into the water.

[Narrator] Known as
unidentified submerged objects,

or USOs,
these mysterious craft display

capabilities that have left
mainstream physicists baffled.

[Taylor] There are
many references of UAPs

flying into
and out of the water.

Now, to my knowledge,
the understanding of physics

is not at a level
that would enable us

to build a device that could fly

not just in the air

but through water.

It's theoretically possible,
but we have absolutely no idea

how we would engineer it
and build it, and,

to my knowledge,
nobody on this planet

has that capability

and that understanding
of-of technology.

[Jeremy Corbell] We have heard
about UFOs operating

in a way that
they call transmedium,

which is without
the friction and resistance

of changing mediums from space
to air to sea like that.

Zero disturbance
in the atmosphere.

[Gallaudet] There is
a whole lot of ocean

we know nothing about,
and therefore, it's very likely

that UAP are occurring
and operating

in that domain
without any of our knowledge.

[Narrator] While the videos
released in recent years

by the U.S. military
are highly intriguing,

sightings of USOs
date back decades.

According to
ancient astronaut theorists,

encounters
with transmedium craft

have occurred
so frequently throughout history

that Earth's oceans might even
be hiding secret alien bases.

And they believe one such base

may be located
just off the coast

of Southern California.

A U.S. Customs and
Border Protection aircraft

is conducting a routine patrol
above a regional airport

when the plane's thermal camera

captures what appears to be
a large metallic object

flying at a high velocity.

As the unidentified object
continued out over the ocean,

it began to perform maneuvers
that exceed the capabilities

of any man-made aircraft.

[Pope] At one point,
it descends into the ocean,

and then a few moments
later emerges

but, apparently,
has split in two.

We don't have
that kind of technology.

[Narrator] The strange object
was recorded for several minutes

before it entered
the water and disappeared.

[Tsoukalos] The
Aguadilla footage

is unlike anything we have

because not only is there
not a splash zone

as the object enters the water,

but there's also
no loss in velocity.

Now, any physical object
that's known to man today

entering a body of water,
there's an automatic loss

of velocity
and there's a splash zone.

That illustrates
some type of technology

that's either something that

our military, for example,

is working on,

or- I'm sorry-
it's extraterrestrial.

[Narrator] Is it possible
that the USO

shot off the coast of
Puerto Rico was of alien origin?

Ancient astronaut theorists
suggest the answer might lie

hidden in the depths where
the strange craft disappeared,

in a mysterious region
known as the Puerto Rico Trench.

[Dolan] The Puerto Rico Trench
goes down to roughly

about 30,000 feet.

And that is a region
of a lot of USO activity

and a lot
of aerial UFO activity.

You've got cases
going back to the 1960s

of U.S. military vessels

tracking an object
under the water,

and it goes into
the Puerto Rico Trench

and just disappears.

[Narrator] Many
researchers suggest that,

if extraterrestrials
really have come to Earth,

the deepest parts of the ocean-
like the Puerto Rico Trench-

would offer
the perfect hiding place.

We have mapped the moon and Mars

to a higher resolution
than our own seafloor.

And in fact, there's
huge areas of the ocean

that we know nothing about.

[Childress] Our oceans
are so vast and mysterious.

There could be all kinds
of stuff deep within them.

The deepest part of our oceans
are about seven miles deep,

and you need special submarines
to go that deep.

So now, with all of these
stories of underwater UFOs,

you have to wonder if

there is some kind of
underwater alien base,

or several of them
around our planet.

[Narrator] Is it possible
that extraterrestrial bases

are hidden deep in our oceans?

In 2011,

a Swedish deep-sea exploration
company called Ocean X Team

was exploring the Baltic Sea

when they made
an unexpected discovery.

Using sonar imaging,

the team captured
what appeared to be

a large, man-made structure
on the floor of the ocean,

almost 200 feet wide.

[Pope] They're about
300 feet down,

and they discover,
on the seabed, this anomaly.

And it's been dubbed
the Baltic Sea anomaly.

It's a raised structure
of some sort

with some curves, obviously,
around the edges,

but some fairly sharp
right angles, too.

[Taylor] Underwater drones
have been

sent down to try
and get pictures

and reference what this is.

And what's really
interesting to me

is that, when these
underwater submersible

sensor platforms get close
enough to get any useful data,

there's some kind of
loss of signal.

It's like there's
an intelligence that can jam

the useful information.

So what is this dome-shaped
object at the bottom there?

[Narrator] Could the
mysterious structure

in the Baltic Sea
have been created

by extraterrestrials
operating in Earth's oceans?

Ancient astronaut
theorists say yes,

and suggest even more
compelling evidence

can be found off the west coast
of the United States.

New satellite images
taken by Google Earth

capture an unusual anomaly
on the seabed

six miles
off the coast of Malibu.

The curious formation
is in the Santa Monica Basin,

where residents
have been reporting

both UFOs and USOs for decades.

[Pope] Now, I've seen a lot
of these so-called anomalies,

and sometimes it's just,
obviously, a geological shape.

But not this one.

For example, there's
a part of it which looks like

a flat, oval-shaped platform
of some sort.

But under that, there are

what I can only describe
as columns, pillars.

What is this?

Is it some kind of building?

Some structure built
by an ancient civilization?

Or perhaps by extraterrestrials?

I mean, this is
about 3,000 feet down.

If extraterrestrials want
to establish bases on Earth,

this is the place to do it.
You can't just put divers down.

It's a very difficult
and dangerous environment.

[Narrator] Speculation that
the formation now known as

the Malibu anomaly

could be an underwater
alien base only grew stronger

when, in April 2025,

it was suddenly,
and mysteriously,

blurred out on Google Earth.

[Pope] Now, a lot
of locations are blurred.

Sometimes, it's because there
are military facilities nearby

that, for reasons
of national security,

you don't want that out there
so that adversaries can see it.

And that might be part of it.
But

you wonder. It was out there.

Now it's blurred. Why?

[Narrator] In the
very same area

as the Malibu anomaly,

unusual phenomena
have been reported for decades.

[Pope] One really interesting
report was July 8th, 1947,

which by coincidence,
or maybe not, was the very day

that the Roswell Daily Record
reported the infamous UFO crash.

Three Army veterans

witnessed six flying discs

at huge speed
passing over Avalon

on Catalina Island before
disappearing off towards Malibu.

The thing you have
with some of these USO cases

is this is not an isolated
type of an observation. Why?

Is there a base down there?

You really have to ask yourself
what is going on there.

[Narrator] Could there be
a connection

between the Malibu anomaly

and the many USO sightings
that have been reported

off the coast
of Southern California?

Ancient astronaut
theorists say yes,

and point to the fact

that some of the most
compelling UAP videos

captured by the U.S. Navy

occurred in this exact location.

Petty Officer Third Class
Gary Voorhis

is stationed
on the USS Princeton,

a guided-missile cruiser
that is one of the Navy's

most technologically-advanced
warships.

Voorhis is part of a small team

that operates the ship's
sophisticated weapon system.

[Voorhis] We control, basically,

the eyes and the brains
of the ships, so,

everything that made the ship
able to engage in combat,

we controlled all that stuff.

[Narrator] In November 2004,

the Princeton and five other
U.S. warships were deployed

on a routine training exercise

100 miles south
of Catalina Island.

But soon after
the maneuvers began,

several mysterious objects

suddenly appeared
on the ship's radar.

[Voorhis] We were tracking
these unknown objects.

I personally only saw three

at a time, when I witnessed it,

but other shipmates of mine
had seen, you know, five, six,

seven of them in formation,

and it was always
a loose formation.

It wasn't like a perfect, you
know, V or anything like that.

[Narrator] As Voorhis
and his fellow shipmates

observed the objects on radar,

they struggled to identify
the unknown craft.

[Voorhis] They were a little odd
because they were flying

very, very slow, and they were
only running about 100 knots.

And the other odd thing
about these tracks is that

they didn't have
any type of identification,

so it-it was very particular.

I think I kind of rationalized
things

a little bit differently
than most because,

in my world, things
don't exist until they do.

Things don't really surprise me.

I remember cracking a joke
when we first saw it.

I go, "What do we got,
a fleet of balsa wood gliders

going across here?"
'Cause, you know,

for them to go that slow,
it was just odd.

And then

the moment it did get
a little serious for me

is when I finally
did get a command

to take the computers down

and run diagnostics on them and

try to figure out
if there was any issues.

And so, when I checked it,
everything came out perfect,

and actually, the tracks were,
if anything, much clearer,

even after we brought
the systems back up.

So, they were
100% real radar tracks.

[Narrator] After tracking
the unusual objects

for more than a week,

officers on board
the Princeton took action.

They radioed the USS Nimitz
aircraft carrier

to deploy two F/A-18 fighter
jets to get a closer look.

But as soon as the jet fighters
took to the sky,

the mysterious slow-moving craft

began to perform
extraordinary maneuvers.

And it was during this mission

that the famous
"Tic Tac" thermal video

was taken by one of the pilots.

[Voorhis] When people see
the Tic Tac video,

you know, they're like,
"It's just a dot on a screen,"

and what made it so amazing,
it's not just a dot.

It's a thermal dot.

It's one universal color.

Where's the engine? The engine
should be a different color.

Where are the wings?
The wings should be

producing some type
of friction in the air,

which would be
a different color.

So, there's no way you were
gonna have a thermal image

of something flying
through the air

that didn't have a gradient
of thermal going across it,

so it blew my mind.

And then, I think, at one point,
it went to 28,000 feet,

just to five feet above
sea level in, like,.7 seconds.

These are speeds that would
literally crush a human.

And they're like, "Yeah, it is
what you think it is.

We're tracking
a, you know, a UFO."

[Corbell] Initial reporting
was that when the Tic Tacs

were arriving at sea level,

there was a disturbance
in the water,

like, a circular disturbance.

So it makes me wonder
is were the Tic Tacs docking

with a USO under the water?

[Narrator] The UAP activity
witnessed by Gary Voorhis

and other Navy personnel

off the coast
of southern California

remains unexplained.

But almost 15 years later,

U.S. warships captured
even more compelling video

near Catalina Island featuring
what has been called

a "swarm" of UAPs.

One of these objects displayed
particularly bizarre properties.

There was a really
well-known case

from a Navy ship
called the USS Omaha

off Southern California in 2019

where the sailors
were observing,

on forward-looking infrared,
a UAP,

a spherical object that had
no flight control surfaces,

did not exhibit any exhaust from
engine intakes or outtakes, and

the object then moved
into the water

and wasn't seen again,

and we don't have
anything like that.

[Tsoukalos] The USS Omaha
footage is fascinating

insofar that
there is no splash zone

in the video, and I've looked
at that video dozens of times.

It's as if there's
an artificial bubble

that allows this thing
to move through material

without any loss of velocity.

I want to know.
What are these objects?

How do they do it?
What's their intention?

[Anna] I absolutely agree
with Admiral Gallaudet that

there needs to be
a focus on USOs

because we've heard directly
from witnesses that

they had seen USOs actually
outpacing our submarines

to the tune of 200
to 300 miles an hour underwater.

That, to me,
is a massive red flag.

What are these things and

is it of nonhuman origin?

[Tsoukalos] The reason
why I think it's significant

that a great majority
of these sightings

happen over water,
or now in the water,

is because

water is the same everywhere.

Whether it is water on Earth
or on some distant planet,

it's a chemical element.

H2O.

H2O here is the same as H2O

on, you know, planet so-and-so.

So, if you figure out

how to use water
as your main resource,

well, then, the universe
has just become your playground.

[Narrator] Are the UAPs and USOs

encountered near Catalina Island

evidence of an alien presence
in our seas?

And if so, could they be coming
from a hidden base

deep underwater?

Ancient astronaut theorists
say yes,

and suggest further evidence
can be found

by examining a notorious
encounter at a lake in Russia

that did not involve USOs

but alien beings.

[Narrator] Lake Baikal,
southern Siberia.

Formed nearly
30 million years ago,

it is the oldest lake
on the planet,

and it was created by a fault
where the Earth's crust

is still gradually
pulling apart.

At over 12,000 square miles,
the lake's surface area

is larger than
the country of Belgium,

and it is home
to thousands of species

of plants and animals.

Many of which cannot be found
anywhere else on Earth.

[Dolan] Lake Baikal is known
as the Pearl of Siberia.

It is the oldest and deepest
freshwater lake in the world.

It actually has 20%
of the entire amount

of freshwater
on the planet Earth.

That includes
even the Great Lakes.

It has such
an immense volume of water.

It's really quite remarkable.

Now, that's in a region
of Siberia

where it's very far
from any real population center.

[Pope] Lake Baikal

is actually an area
very rich in folklore.

There are encounters reported
back throughout the years,

and it's a mysterious place.

[Paul Stonehill] Lake Baikal
is one of the most unusual

water bodies on this planet.

For recorded history
going back several centuries,

there have been
sightings of USOs-

very unusual underwater
submersible objects-

also, UFOs-

unidentified flying objects-
over its sky,

and also, very unusual beings.

In the early 1900s,

there was a story
of the local people

catching so-called "pharaohs,"
"pharaony" in Russian.

Creatures that damage ships,

and they were very humanlike.

That lake is the scene

of one of the most,
really, extraordinary claims

dealing with USOs
that we have anywhere.

[Narrator] While dozens
of strange events

are associated with Lake Baikal,

there is one that caught
the attention of ufologists

all over the world.

It occurred in 1982,

when a team
of Soviet navy divers

conducting a training exercise
in the lake

had an alarming encounter.

[Dolan] According to the premier

Russian researcher of that time,

a man named Vladimir Azhazha,

who had very good connections
with the Soviet military,

Soviet divers-
their equivalent of Navy SEALs-

encountered what had become
known as "the swimmers."

[Stonehill] There are
unusual humanoid beings,

three meter tall,

operating in the deep waters
of Lake Baikal

without using any breathing
apparatus or any other help,

and they were clad
in silvery suits

and operating freely down below.

[Pope] Now, the divers

came back up, they reported this
up the chain of command

and they were basically told,

"Well, go back down and try
to capture one of these beings.

So, the divers went
back down again.

[Dolan] They are at
a couple of hundred feet,

and a shockwave
occurs down there

and they had
to surface immediately.

And what's tragic
about this story is that the

depressurization chambers
that the Soviet military had

were not all fully functional.

And several of these men
were not able to get

depressurized quickly enough,
and they died of the bends.

Now, there's other accounts
relating to that

which indicate
that they may have seen

a glowing kind of craft
lower than their level.

Is it true? Is it not true?

We don't know,
because during the Soviet era,

it was almost impossible
to report genuine UFOs

until the fall
of the Soviet Union

in 1991, '92,

when they started
making these official.

[Narrator] Is it possible
that Soviet divers

had a fatal encounter
with extraterrestrial entities

living in Lake Baikal?

According to researchers,
what makes the story

even more compelling

is how it relates
to an ancient legend

told by the local Buryat people.

[Stonehill] They have a legend

about the underwater castle
of the Erlik Khan.

That's how they call
"the underwater king."

And it's of silver color.

So, this silver color

comes in throughout legends

of different people of Eurasia.

From the clothing of these
underwater humanoid beings

to the description
of this underwater castle,

and they're very
serious about it.

[Pope] When you look
at declassified

Russian government files,

it's very interesting
that 50% of them

detail UAP

as being in some way
associated with the ocean,

and another 15%
associate them with lakes.

So, again, water is the key.

[Narrator] Could the incredible
story of Lake Baikal

provide the strongest
evidence yet

of an otherworldly presence
in Earth's lakes and oceans?

Perhaps further clues
can be found

by examining stories
of unusual aquatic encounters

not in modern times
but thousands of years ago.

[Narrator] The Soviet
island of Sakhalin.

This ancient landmass
has been contested ground

between Russia, China and Japan
for centuries

due to its strategic location
and rich natural resources.

In 1950, Soviet Prime Minister
Joseph Stalin

orders the top-secret
construction of a tunnel

to connect the island
of Sakhalin to mainland Russia.

According to reports,
the ambitious project

would yield
an unexpected discovery.

27,000 people

were involved
in this so-called Project 506.

There's only scant information,
but it has been confirmed.

People who had worked there

had to sign
nondisclosure agreements.

But we do know
that while building the tunnel,

they encountered,
in those hollows below,

remnants of much more
ancient structures,

and remnants of

beings that are not human.
I'm just going by

the description
that's available.

And that's it. We don't know
much more than that.

And just after
Stalin's death in 1953,

it was abruptly stopped.

[Narrator] Could the stories
be true

that the Soviet workers
came upon ancient structures

and nonhuman bodies
inside this undersea tunnel?

Perhaps clues can be found
in the mythology

of the people who have
lived on Sakhalin island

for thousands of years,
called the Ainu.

The Ainu believe
that otherworldly beings

have been coming to the island
since ancient times.

[Stonehill] The Ainu people
have an interesting mythology

and beliefs in visitations

from spirits, they call them,

or deities who would
come and live with them.

[Narrator] The Ainu
are considered to be

the descendants of the Jomon,

the original inhabitants
of Japan

who emerged
roughly 14,000 years ago.

The Jomon are best known

for the thousands of figurines
they left behind

called the dogu,

which depict strange figures
wearing garments

that many researchers
have compared

to both space suits
and diving suits.

As far as ancient astronaut
theorists are concerned,

this is just one
of many connections

between extraterrestrial
beings and the sea

that appear throughout history.

[Tsoukalos] The earliest
of culture bringers

to planet Earth was
a fish deity called Oannes,

with the ancient Sumerians.
And

it is described
how this fish being

descended from the sky
in physical form,

imparted knowledge

to the Babylonians
and the first Sumerians.

And at night, this Oannes guy
would walk into the water,

and that's where he would live.

And then reemerge the next day,

to impart more knowledge
to the local population.

[Childress] Oannes
comes out of the ocean,

and he then
teaches the Babylonians

science and technology
and medicine and agriculture.

So, he's an amphibious God.

[Narrator] Other tales
of powerful beings

living underwater

can be found in the stories
of ancient Greece.

The god Poseidon
was the king of the seas,

and ruled a race of humanlike
beings called the Telchines,

who could live
both in and out of water.

And Poseidon's son Triton
was often depicted

as a half man, half fish deity

who could control
the waves of the ocean.

[Robert Stephan] So, Triton-
he's got the upper body of a man

and the lower body of a fish.

And what he does is,
with his conch shell, he

brings the waves into action
or calms the seas.

[Tsoukalos] What's fascinating
is that while Triton

is initially described as a

single being,
it's later written that

there is an entire race
of Tritons.

And they have these
magical conch shells

with which they can
control the waves.

And they're also said to dwell

in golden palaces
beneath the sea.

Now, when you look at this story
with modern eyes,

you have to ask
if what our ancestors witnessed

were flesh-and-blood
extraterrestrials

wearing diving suits,

and these so-called
golden palaces

were some type
of underwater alien bases.

[Narrator] Another ancient story

involving an underwater
dwelling place

can be found in the Hindu tale
of evil entities

called the nivatakavachas,

who occupied an entire city

hidden deep below the surface
of the Indian Ocean.

[Henry] The nivatakavachas live
in this city beneath the ocean

that's said to be crystalline
in nature, shining like gold,

and lit from a light
that does not come from the Sun.

They have these incredible
weapons that they use.

And so, in every way,
shape and form,

the nivatakavachas sound like

some sort of
technological creatures

that the ancient Hindu myth
is telling us were real beings.

[Childress] We have these
stories of these amphibious gods

who are instructing people
all over the world.

And so, you know,
you have to wonder

if this has to do
with extraterrestrials.

[Narrator] Could the stories
of the ancient world

reveal that our ancestors
encountered extraterrestrials

in Earth's lakes and oceans?

And if so,
have underwater alien bases

existed on our planet
for thousands of years?

Ancient astronaut theorists
believe we may soon know more

than ever before

as China begins construction
on a research center

deep beneath the ocean.

[Narrator] Planet Earth
has a surface area

of 197 million square miles.

Incredibly, the world
that we inhabit on land

represents just one percent
of the planet's livable space.

The rest belongs to the oceans,

and as of 2025,

only five percent
of this vast expanse

has been significantly explored.

[Dolan] Our planet's oceans are

both explored and unexplored.

There's a lot that we've learned

over the last century or more
about them.

But it is important to note
that most of the ocean remains,

at a scientific level,
not properly explored or mapped.

So, there's a lot
that we don't know.

[Pope] The United States,

Russia, China are all

devoting a lot more time

and resources
on exploring the oceans

and expanding their footprint.

It's very apparent
that there's been

a shift in focus
over the last few years,

and that the oceans are becoming
more and more the focus

when it comes
to the world's superpowers.

[Narrator] One country
leading the charge

in deep-sea exploration
is China.

In 2020, they launched
a manned submersible

that can reach depths
of nearly 15,000 feet.

And in February 2025,
the Chinese government

announced plans to construct

a permanent underwater research
base on the ocean floor.

This so-called
"underwater space station"

will support six scientists
for weeks at a time

at a depth of 6,500 feet,

far beyond the reach
of military submarines.

This new underwater base
that China is building

is truly incredible.

It's something that may have
been considered impossible

just a decade ago.

And it really marks
a moment in our history

where world leaders
are starting to push their focus

from the skies to the seas.

[Pope] The amount of time,
resources, money

that's been spent down there

leads one to speculate,
"Do they know something?"

Is there something else
under the ocean

that the public
aren't being told about

but that the military
and governments are aware of?

[Narrator] If China's plan
for an underwater base succeeds,

scientists will gain access

to more extreme depths
of the ocean than ever before.

But as we learn more
about this aquatic realm,

what will we find?

Might the oceans
offer our best chance

at discovering extraterrestrial
life here on Earth?

[Gallaudet] I think
it is the time

to take USOs seriously.

We have objects in our ocean,

just like UAP in the atmosphere

that are operating
with impunity.

Think about what
our Navy can learn

if we study USOs more,
as well as

all of our maritime
and undersea energy,

offshore energy technologies

by studying these phenomenon.

The truth is down there,

and it behooves us
to go look for the same.

[Tsoukalos] When you think
about the fact that

there are millions of square
miles of ocean left to explore,

it's not outrageous to suggest

that there could be
an extraterrestrial presence

underneath the sea.

[Henry] Stories
of amphibious gods,

hybrid human-fish beings,

are rampant
in the ancient world.

Is that what's in our future?

That there could be
extraterrestrial beings

that will come out from deep
within our own oceans

and have emerged
to be our teachers?

[Narrator] As we continue
to explore

what lies hidden
deep below the surface

of Earth's vast waters,

will we encounter visitors
from another planet?

Or even underwater alien bases?

And is it possible
that otherworldly beings

have been hiding
in our oceans and lakes

for thousands of years?

Perhaps when we finally
make contact with alien beings,

they will not
be out in the cosmos

but hiding in the waters
of our own planet.
