It was absolute miserable.

And the money was so much
better to come back here.

And honestly, that works better.

was really like Deputy Thomas's idea.

I don't really care what
the name of the show is,

but he's so adamant about it.

And all you really need is a good host,

just like any parasite
organism sort of situation.

Like, all I need is for
him to take the lead

and to go along.

As long as the science gets completed,

everything gets wrapped up
and we find the creature,

that's all it matters.

As far as the logistics of it,

I'm just a scientist, I have
nothing to do with any of that

and I really don't care.

But as long as it,

as long as it gets us
to where we need to go,

that's all I really care about.

So, I mean, honestly, the
logistics of the question

doing the necessary research

and trying to figure out our next leads.

They wanted us to search for some claims

of hob goblins in Norway or something.

But we don't quite have
international money yet.

that I run across in a bar one night

and his name was Richard Brooks.

And, you know, he was like,

"Man, I heard you're a movie producer."

And I was like, yeah.

Who the hell hasn't seen your show?

And you know, guy, he was a
pretty cool guy, you know,

and like, he's like, "Man, you know,

"we go chasing all these crazy creatures

"and like, you know, we wanna prove

"either they exist or they don't."

And you know, it kind
of really intrigued me,

you know, and I was like,
really, you want to use me

to produce your films?

I mean, you're kind of known, you know.

And he gave me a shot, and man, it was,

meeting Richard Brooks
was probably the greatest

moment of my life.

'Cause it really changed
it for like the better

to where like, I could really
get known for what I do.

(upbeat music)

- So Doc, what exactly is it

that we are investigating this time?

- Oh my boy,

this is going to be so very exciting.

We are on the hunts for the
elusive and mysterious creature

known as, The Rake.

- The Rake?

What the hell is that?

- Oh, well, I'm so very glad
you asked that question.

It's typically associated with
a bold, pale skinned creature

that lives in the woods,
hunched over like this

with bright glowing eyes or orbs

that stare right into the camera.

It's horrible.

It's become a staple of the
creepy pasta monster genre.

Look, and authors use it
as a kind of a shorthand

for any sort of creature
that appears like this.

(gentle upbeat music)

- Creepy looking fucker.

- Yes.

And in the summer of 2003,

there was a reported series
of sightings that happened.

So, there was all types of media attention

and coverage that happened, right.

And so there was a
mysterious media blackout,

all of a sudden,

all of the online records,
all of the written records,

everything mysteriously vanished.

Almost no information still
remains from that summer.

So, we are on our way there now

to verify the validity of the creature.

but how do we kill it?

- We don't.

If we do verify that this thing is real,

we bring it back to the
lab for further study.

you gotta understand
that anything can happen.

We don't even know what's
real at this point.

but to show that when
you go out in the woods

or you go like somewhere

where it's a little creepy or spooky,

yes, be a little afraid, okay,

because you never know
what the hell's out there,

trying to climb a log

It's the hardest thing

but that's what it feels like sometimes

- Science-wise, preparing for
an investigation like this,

you have to really ingest
all the information possible.

So, one of my heroes is Albert Einstein.

And he was such a smart man.

And he would forget things
that were unimportant

because his brain was
packed full of information.

So whenever he was studying
something else about physics,

then he would just conveniently forget

other useful information

because he needed to put all
of his focus and attention

on this particular problem
to solve the universe with.

And I'm not Albert
Einstein, I totally compare,

but to prepare for an investigation,

I take all the irrelevant
information out of my brain

and I throw it away.

And I pack all in the good stuff.

Like, I read strange
stories and amazing facts

and comic books about
the Loch Ness Monster

or The Rake in this instance.

And I find any sort of
paraphernalia I can on the internet,

especially the deep dark
forums of the internet.

That's where the really good stuff is.

So you just pack all that information,

'cause you never know
when it might be relevant

and what something might be weak to,

or what something has a strength to.

You know, some people play Pokemon,

I just get prepared for the rakes.

You know, it's all sorts
of levels and stacks

that I just, I don't have time
to explain to you right now.

this creature is real

or if it's just another

of these creatures, from aliens
to trans dimensional beings,

There have even been witness testimonies

that the being appeared at
the foot of someone's bed

and manipulated their dreams.

What all does this mean?

We don't know.

But frankly, that's what
we're here to find out.

just raking in all of the
accolades, all of the money,

I saved their asses

from those mermaids or whatever it was.

And you know, that got
me in the good graces.

Now, yes, yes technically,

after Clark shot the gun, and you know,

technically yes, we did leave them there,

but we did send the Coast Guard
back to come and get them.

There was just no room on the boat.

with us leaving them.

I don't understand why we didn't

Richard wanted to have
his way with the marine.

So, they made me drive and
we had to go back to shore

and send the Coast Guard to go get them.

- The goal is to examine
and research the creature,

up close and personal.

How do we do this without putting
the entire team in danger?

I didn't have any problem with him.

He clearly was just in the
