Original subtitles

So, I'll give you all my shares in

Hyunsung Distributions.

Bring down Hyunsung

and become the leader of the best corporation.

Just tell the world this for me.

"I, Kim Jihyeok, was a thug that Cho Hwasu has raised."

Your son did it, Mom.

That guy that came between us?

I'll forget him, too.

I can never forgive you

for insulting my late father.

You insist on going to him?

Then I can't leave him alone.

You think you can end it

with this piece of paper?

Mira. You've made a big mistake.

Just let me stay with you.

Please.

I can't live without you.

How am I supposed to live?

Let's make Hyunsung Distributions

a great company with one mind and one spirit!

Do it!

Do whatever it takes!

I don't care how much it costs!

I'll sell my soul to the devil if I must!

I must make him suffer.

Do you understand?

Go in. Go.

You'll get bitten by mosquitoes. Go in!

Mom!

Mom!

Mom! Somebody help!

Mom!

What?

Where?

(Episode 15)

I'm home.

Come have a seat.

I heard Mira quit. Did you make her do it?

Yes, I fired her.

Good. Just have her work around the house.

She'll get conceited if she has a high position.

You're right.

I was too nice to a servant.

I guess you can't take the low-class out of a person.

Dongseok.

Did you...

I got sick of her.

I'm going to sleep.

He's finally come to his senses.

How is she?

She's in surgery.

She hurt her bones here and there.

Full recovery is unlikely, given her age.

What happened?

That's why I called you.

I just can't figure it out.

Dongseok

must be behind it, right?

Probably.

But why?

Why my mom?

He knows what would hurt you the most.

If that's true,

he made a huge mistake.

This time, I'll stomp on him.

I'll stomp on him mercilessly.

Next on our list is Lee Daeseop.

No, there's no need to take a roundabout way.

Let's hit his weakest point.

- So Kim Jihyeok... / - No, that's not what I'm saying.

His weakest point is

So Mira.

Right away?

No, not yet.

He'll let us know when.

We'll wait until then.

Kang Seonguk, Kang Dongseok.

We have to find their weaknesses.

We have to figure out

what they fear the most.

What they fear the most is

you.

You are their secret weakness.

And they fear the fact that you are alive.

Their weakness is

me?

Hey.

Pack up.

I don't think

I can bear to see your face anymore.

Really?

Thank you.

What time should we be at the station?

Okay.

What did he say? Will he let us on the air?

Yes, he is happy to have you.

He said he was about to ask first.

He asked you to come on tonight.

Tonight? That soon?

Should I push it back?

No. I might as well get it over with.

But why did you want to go on TV?

I want to tell my side of the story.

Thank you for tuning in.

- Thank you. / - Thank you.

The 3 p.m. News' special interview will be Kim Jihyeok.

Kim Jihyeok?

Remember Hyunsung's long-lost son con?

Of course. Who doesn't?

That's him.

Are you sure about having a con artist as a guest?

The problem is

he's a rising star right in the financial world now.

He's the current CEO of Hyunsung Distributions

who saved it from bankruptcy.

He was kicked out for fraud,

and then worked his way back.

It's drama after drama. Doesn't that sound awesome?

It sounds pretty good.

We need to hurry.

It gets backed up near the studios at this time.

It's a live show, so we can't be late.

Why are you screening my calls?

Did you really move out?

I told you, I'm fine being your sister.

You can't be my sister.

What?

You're just Hyunsung's daughter.

Let's go.

Hyunsung's...

I told you I'm not part of that family anymore!

Hey, mole.

Stick your head out, now!

I already saw you.

What is it?

Why is he doing this?

Why did he move out in the middle of the night?

Is he moving in with Mira or something?

No, that's not it.

It's because of your brother.

My brother?

You know your brother tried to kill Jihyeok, right?

That's why I'm staying by his side.

And recently he tried to kill Auntie Dalsuk,

whom Jihyeok considers his mom.

What?

My brother did?

Yes, your brother. Your real brother.

So you're not fated to live with Jihyeok.

Today, we have the star of the distributions industry,

Hyunsung Distributions' president, Kim Jihyeok.

Hello.

Hello.

- Is this your first time on TV, right? / - Yes.

Why are you doing this?

Why are you doing things only gangsters do?

What did I do?

You hurt the market lady that Jihyeok is close to.

You think I'd do something like that?

You're lying to your own family now?

What has gotten into you?

Tell me the truth.

This is about your pride, isn't it?

Because that puppet keeps beating you.

And even Mira is on his side now.

Mira dumped you, didn't she?

He was never my competition. And I don't care

with whom So Mira sides with.

You can't be happy she's with him now.

I said I don't care.

You don't care?

Mira knows the most about our family and company.

And now she's with Kim Jihyeok.

Aren't you nervous?

Don't worry.

I know him better than anyone else.

You

only know his flaws.

You don't know any of his strengths.

The more you attack him,

the more you keep building up his strengths.

Why can't you see that?

Are you on his side too?

Please stop.

If you do this, I have nowhere else to go.

Why wouldn't you have a place to go?

You're Hyunsung's daughter. Keep receiving

VIP treatment everywhere as you always have.

What I want isn't a place like that.

Dongseok.

Come down for a minute.

I don't mean to offend you, but you were

involved in a fraud scandal, correct?

Yes.

I heard that you confessed in court.

I did.

Do you mean all you said was true?

No, I do not.

Then why did you confess?

The attorney made me an offer.

He said if I confessed, they'd let me out on probation.

That's why I confessed.

If what you say is true,

that means Hyunsung, not you, committed fraud.

Do you have proof?

They'll be exposed soon, don't you think?

- Why is Kim Jihyeok on TV? / - Wait, wait.

They can sue you for defamation.

I believe the truth will surface.

Has he lost his mind?

Do you think he knows something?

- Maybe... / - No, he can't possibly know.

There's no way he knows.

That's one of his strengths.

He's totally unpredictable.

- Thank you. / - Thank you.

Why are you suddenly saying all of this?

I'm warning them not to touch me.

What will people think if they do now?

They'll assume it was Hyunsung.

You're right.

But if you can't find proof before then,

it will look like you lied on TV.

I'll find proof soon.

Knock first, will you?

I have a bad heart, remember?

Stop whining.

Are you going to leave Jihyeok alone?

If not?

Shouldn't you make him brain-dead again

or send him abroad somewhere?

You want me to do that to him now?

Why not?

Think about it.

If a famous actor suddenly became brain-dead

or went on vacation abroad and disappeared

would you say it's nothing out of the ordinary

and forget it?

Well...

He's no longer a market thug that no one cares about.

- Boss. / - What?

This came to the office.

What is it?

Beat Kim Jihyeok until he's just short of dying.

Sure, that's not hard, but why...

Why that...

Why, hello.

Who...

Yang Beomsik. How dare you come here?

Why? Can't I be here?

We're on the same side.

Come out. Talk with me.

Okay, okay. Let go of me.

Stop being so rough. We're on the same side.

Get out.

Why are you here?

Kim Jihyeok is threatening me.

With what?

Here.

Beat Kim Jihyeok until he's just short of dying.

What if he hands this over to the police?

Don't worry.

He's not after the two of us.

He knows that even if he brings this up,

the only people he can get are you and me.

Regardless, I'm running away if things get dangerous.

I can't spend the rest of my life in prison now, can I?

I'm going far away.

Shouldn't you give me some money for traveling?

Fine. Wait a moment.

May I see my surgery records?

Name is Kim Jihyeok. Social security number is...

There's no record of any surgery.

He was here under Kang Jihyeok then, not Kim Jihyeok.

There's no surgery record for anyone by that name.

That's impossible. Please check again.

There should be a record of being declared brain-dead.

There's no record of Kang Jihyeok

ever being in this hospital.

There must have been a mistake. I clearly...

Don't bother.

They have already erased all records.

There must be doctors and nurses from back then.

I'm sure they would remember you.

This is Hyunsung Hospital.

Those memories can be erased with money.

Why don't we meet with the reporters that came?

Why would they take my side and go against Hyunsung?

And I need proof or a witness to

my being declared brain-dead.

Excuse me, Father!

Yes?

What brings you to this hospital?

I gave a brain-dead patient his last rites.

Do you remember me by any chance?

I'm not sure.

Does it help if I say I was Hyunsung Group's son?

Though I walk through the valley of shadow of death

I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me.

Yes, I remember.

It has been discovered that Hyunsung Distributions'

President Kim Jihyeok, a new leader in finance,

had recovered after being brain-dead.

People are calling him "Miracle Man", and are

very interested in the miracle he experienced.

What are you doing?

How could you let this get out?

We didn't think to bribe the priest.

But don't worry too much.

He's just skimming the edges.

He'll never get to the core.

Can you swear on it?

Yes. I swear it on my life.

Regardless, get rid of everything

before he uncovers anything else.

Are you sure you didn't just agitate them?

That's the point.

Then they'll hide their secrets even further.

Kang Dongseok probably ordered to have them destroyed.

But Do Sangho would never destroy it all.

He knows that he'll be discarded at some point

because he knows too many of Hyunsung's secrets.

He knows how Hyunsung works and that

they'll get rid of him once he's no longer useful.

So he'll save a copy somewhere in case that time comes

to use as a shield to protect himself.

Those secrets will finally

leave the company walls.

Fumigation.

Excuse me.

Yes.

Thank you again. Okay.

He says to come on the morning news tomorrow.

Thank you.

I told you to get rid of them.

So why did you have a copy?

Well, it was a copy I had made a while back.

I deleted it from my work computer,

but I didn't about deleting it from the USB drive.

So why did you even make a copy?

Did you plan to threaten us with it later on?

No, Sir.

I would never. It was a mistake.

I'll get the USB drive back somehow.

It's locked to prevent copying,

so if we get the original, it will be fine.

What if he gave it to the police?

I already took care of the police.

It doesn't look like he did that yet.

How will you get it back?

I'll think of something.

I told you before.

Kim Jihyeok will let us know when.

This is when.

How is it, Mom?

Gosh. Nice.

I feel my blood pumping again.

- Want a snack? / - No, that will kill the taste.

You sure like your alcohol.

Drink more. Go on. There's another one.

It's time to sleep.

You need to sleep for your bones to heal quickly.

Did you drink soju again?

What? How did you...

Mom.

Stop doing that.

You drank yesterday too. You're delaying your recovery.

What? You said it's been a while? Who brought you one?

The market people asked if I needed anything.

What else do I ever need in my life other than alcohol?

Goodness.

Get better quickly, Mom.

Once you're better, the world would have changed.

Once that happens,

no one can touch you.

I'll make sure of it.

Is that travel money?

Let's see.

Wow.

You've gotten more generous.

Thank you very much.

Do one more thing before you leave.

What now?

This is an advance payment.

I'll give you double once it's done.

Double.

What is it?

You'll have to talk to this person.

Yes, I'll head straight to the studio.

Yes.

Excuse me, are you So Mira?

Yes.

It's nice out.

Pardon?

Let's go.

It's time.

Okay.

Camera, ready. Final rehearsal!

Excuse me, you need to turn off your mobile phone.

Okay. Sorry.

Hurry on over. Your woman is dying.

You know what to bring, right?

Let's begin the final rehearsal.

Stand by.

Three. Two. One.

I'm sorry.

Jihyeok!

Hey.

She must be resistant to drugs.

Let's see.

We need you to sleep.

Hey, Hedgy!

Why are you so upset?

Don't worry, she's just sleeping.

Drop it.

Let's finish the transaction. Hand it over.

Send her to me first.

Hey.

- Mira, are you okay? / - I told you she's fine.

Happy? Now hand it over.

You know if something happens to her,

I'll kill you personally.

Okay, okay. Just hand it over.

- Check it. / - Yes, Sir.

Let them go.

Mira, are you okay?

Jihyeok.

Jerk.

Mr. Do, it's me.

Yes, it's been taken care of.

Are you okay? Are you really okay?

What do we do now?

There will be another opportunity.

Be careful.

It was all my fault. I'm sorry.

Don't say that.

You were attacked because of me.

It's because I cornered them.

Hyera will be back soon, so I'll get going.

Jihyeok.

Wait.

Can you stay with me for a bit?

All this will end someday, right?

- Did you find anything? / - Yes, I did.

I found this in his pocket.

Kim Jihyeok?

Hello. Are you Kim Jihyeok?

Yes, I am.

- Did you find anything? / - Let's check the trunk.

Hey, isn't this blood?

You've been accused of murder before.

Oh, that? I caught the real murderer and

brought him to the police.

So my name was cleared.

I see.

But why does it still show up on your record?

You know Yang Beomsik, correct?

Yes.

You must know he was murdered last night.

He was killed around 9 p.m.

Where were you at that time?

You weren't at the office.

Well, I...

This was taken by a security camera

near the scene of the crime last night.

Isn't this your car?

Yes, it is.

It's been taken care of. Don't worry, Sir.

Everything went as you said.

The police has solid evidence too,

so it won't be easy to avoid being convicted of murder.

We took care of the prosecutor, too.

Everything will happen as you wish.

Good job.

Kim Jihyeok. Yang Beomsik.

We got rid of two nuisances at once.

You're right.

You may leave.

So, is So Mira all that remains?

The DNA test results came back.

Already?

The blood on the iron pipe in Kim Jihyeok's car

was a perfect match with the victim's.

- Okay. Thanks. / - Thank you.

How would you explain this?

I don't know.

But I'm sure they put it in my car.

And I told you, I was there

because Yang Beomsik kidnapped So Mira...

I mean, he called to say he kidnapped my employee.

And when I arrived,

she really was kidnapped.

Your employee?

Yes.

I was there with him at that time.

I was drugged and kidnapped by that man.

You were drugged.

So when Kim Jihyeok arrived

were you lucid? Had the drugs worn out?

Well, I was still under the influence...

Then this story makes more sense.

His girlfriend was kidnapped

and they were fighting violently, and then...

Whack! With the iron pipe.

After getting rid of the body, he wakes his girlfriend.

That's what they scripted.

You know all that they did to me?

I know how they work better than anyone else.

They planned all this to get back at me

for taking the company back from them.

What have they done to you?

Have you ever reported them to the police?

Well...

It was useless to report them to the police.

What are you implying?

You never even reported them.

How do you know whether or not it was useless?

The police and prosecutors are all working with them.

What's the point in reporting them?

How dare you make such an accusation?

Jihyeok.

Don't worry too much.

We can overcome this.

Sure.

Don't lose faith, and wait for me, okay?

Thanks.

Why won't you pick up? I want to help Kim Jihyeok.

I'm not kidding.

It's been a while.

What is it?

Why haven't you called?

Why should I call you?

Wow. You're cruel.

What is it? How do you plan to help him?

I thought

you'd come to me first once he was arrested

to ask me to help him.

If you had begged, I was going to help.

I know you too well.

Not as well as you think.

I have something you'd love.

It's the perfect piece of evidence

to clear his name completely.

What?

You mean it?

You miss me a lot now, don't you?

Why don't we talk at the office for old times' sake?

Have a seat.

It's me.

It's been taken care of. Don't worry, Sir.

What's that?

Can't you tell?

Once the police gets this, Kim Jihyeok is a free man.

No, no. It's not for free.

What do you want?

I want you back.

What?

You know what kind of ending I want? A happy ending.

I hate repeating myself, but I'll do it for you.

I want to marry you.

Why are you doing this?

We don't care about each other anymore.

Care?

That's fine.

I just want my doll back that I used to like.

Doll?

But I'll hand it over to the police after

we get married and return from our honeymoon.

When should we get married?

The sooner the better, right?

Oh, that's right.

Your father liked the fall,

so let's get married in the fall.

Piece of trash.

What?

You must not love him enough to die for him.

No. I love him more than that.

And he's not so weak that he'd lose to trash like you.

No.

I won't let him be abused anymore.

I'm going to lose my mind.

Don't worry too much.

He didn't do it.

I know. It was Kang Dongseok again, wasn't it?

Why does he keep doing this? He's driving me crazy.

I'll take care of President Kang's situation.

Please make sure the workers don't get too anxious.

And meet with the delivery and transport companies

and ensure that there is no problem.

Okay, don't worry about that.

Let them have as much faith as the two of you.

He has overcome crises like this...

No, he has overcome crises much worse than this.

He'll overcome this, too.

Of course. This is nothing to him.

Okay, we'll be back.

So Mira.

There must be something.

Think.

Do you know black market organ dealers?

The ones in abroad.

Why do you ask?

I wanted to look into something.

I don't consider them human beings.

So you know nothing in that field?

I met a couple of them in the past.

Do you know the term the organ dealers use?

Like what they'd call an organ...

They call it a machine.

A machine?

- May we help you? / - Oh, well...

I heard you're looking for a machine abroad.

Just a minute.

Can you get me the numbers to organ dealers abroad?

What a coincidence.

It happened to be my turn to be the public defender.

But isn't it better to deal with a familiar face?

Fortunately,

they confirmed that So Mira was indeed kidnapped.

That means your sentence may be mitigated to an extent.

Just confess to murder.

I'll get you out in five years.

These are the names and numbers of organ dealers.

There are this many evil jerks like this?

Send the following text to them.

"This is Manager Do of Hyunsung. This is a new number."

"Call me right away."

Hello?

What?

Sorry, I must've texted the wrong number. Sorry.

I don't think he's on this list.

I got all the names that I could.

If he's not here...

- Hello? / - It's been a long time. How may I help you?

Hello.

Manager Do stepped away for a minute.

Who shall I say called?

Who is it?

Get rid of them all. Worthless trash.

Are you the one who called Do Sangho?

Yes.

You have a record of your transaction with him, right?

No, I don't.

I found it.

This explains where your heart came from.

Can you handle it?

You've touched a sore spot.

What will you do?

Should I hand it over to the police?

We have the organ dealer, too.

Should we make it a package deal?

I trust you didn't keep a copy.

If you didn't, neither did I.

- What is it? / - This came for you.

It's been taken care of. Don't worry, Sir.

What is this?

Thanks.

I only used what I learned from watching you.

That's not good.

I'm teaching you bad things.

What should we do now?

They have no more weaknesses.

We have one final option.

A face-off.

I'll use my power to destroy you, Kim Jihyeok.

I'll take back the control over Hyunsung Distributions.

Obtain all the shares necessary.

Sir, our company funds are lacking.

- There's no money.. / - It was our company.

I want to take back what was ours.

That's enough of a reason. Do whatever it takes.

Bribe the shareholders if you must.

Even if I have to sell all of my shares in Energy

I'll get the funds.

We'll begin right away.

Do whatever it takes. Make sure you get it.

No matter what.

Yes, that's correct.

Other than the shares the Hyunsung family owns,

we, Fan Korea, are the largest shareholder.

As the largest shareholder, what do you think about

the management of Hyunsung Energy?

We are very unhappy,

but we can't control the company.

But why do you ask?

Do you know me, by any chance?

Of course. You're a celebrity in this field.

Our fund considers you to be

the best executive in this field.

Really? Why, thank you.

That's good, then.

Pardon?

May I make a proposal?

I don't think we have enough shares

to accomplish what you want.

How short are we?

Hyunsung Distributions' shares are dispersed.

Why is that?

Kim Jihyeok received Chairman Cho's shares,

and distributed them to the employees and

market people working at the market.

That makes it easier for us.

Just go convince them individually.

It appears they're very loyal to Kim Jihyeok.

They may consider selling their shares

to be an act of betrayal against Kim Jihyeok.

A battle between money and loyalty.

Which do you think people will choose?

You probably think it's loyalty.

But what melts loyalty is the amount of money.

If we offer an unimaginable amount of money,

people will unknowingly reach out their hand.

Pay them several times the value of the shares.

- Excuse us. / - Yes?

- Forget it. / - If you'd take a look...

There's no need to look. I'm not selling.

I said no. Don't talk like that.

Do you know how much we got from our president?

We'll pay 2.5 times its market value.

We said no.

Hyunsung's people are almost

forcing the employees to sell their shares.

They can't sell their shares.

He personally distributed the share to them

so they'd consider the company to be theirs.

That would defeat the purpose.

They know that, which is why they're resisting.

The problem is

Hyunsung is offering double or triple their worth.

They still have to hold out.

They have to stay loyal.

Most of our employees

took on debts when we went bankrupt.

If they sell now, they can pay that back.

Loyalty? How long can they hold out based on loyalty?

We can't stop them from selling shares

that we already gave them, right?

What should we do?

Hyunsung Energy's funds should be depleted by now.

Where are they getting the money?

Can you find out where they're getting the money?

- Good night. / - Good night.

Hey, Director Kim!

- Hello, Sir. / - Long time no see.

- Yes. / - I heard you've been promoted.

Congratulations.

I'm sorry, I've been so busy lately.

There's no need to apologize.

Hey, since we ran into each other,

why don't we get a beer?

- Shall we? / - You have time?

- Sure. / - That's great. It's been so long.

I looked into it.

Kang Dongseok is selling all of his shares in

Hyunsung Energy to buy our shares.

No wonder. Hyunsung is out of funds right now.

I was wondering where he was getting all that money.

So how many Energy shares does he have?

- Well... / - I know.

Things are getting interesting.

Let's use our heads.

Let's use our heads.

How much are they offering for our shares?

The minimum was double. Some offered triple the worth.

Double or triple.

Tell them to sell for at least triple.

Tell all the employees that.

Sell? But then we'll lose control.

But

tell them to add a condition.

Hyunsung Distributions' employees have begun to move.

I told you.

Loyalty melts before money.

Okay, everyone!

Mapo Hyunsung Market has

come in first in sales! Thanks for all your hard work!

You know if we make a profit,

we return it to you, right?

Yes!

Okay! So do we just give it to you? No.

We will return it to you

through a raffle. What do you say?

Are you ready?

Okay. Now, the first place prize is

ownership of a residence in Jejudo.

This is a gift that keeps giving.

It's worth almost as much as an apartment.

- Wow! / - It's a free apartment!

Okay, okay, calm down.

Is that all? No!

This is buy one get one free!

If a single woman wins this raffle

you win a trip with our president!

What do you think?

- Okay! / - Okay, it is!

What about married women?

No married women!

Why not?

Let's begin the draw!

Here we go!

I'm not looking!

Here it is.

Here we go.

The lucky number is

number six! Congrats!

Wow! Oh, my gosh!

So, are you single?

- Yes. / - Yes, she's single.

Then do you want to go

with our president?

I'm sorry, but I'll just take the residence.

I'll take my parents.

Thank you!

You're not very popular, Sir.

Give it back! You know how much that's worth?

You can't break your promise like that.

Kim Jihyeok is good at keeping promises.

Kang Dongseok.

You want to show off your fighting skills again?

I came to thank you for keeping your promise.

- What? / - Remember what you promised me?

You said you'd build it and give it back.

I really can step down as president.

Just let me know if it bothers you.

No. Make it bigger first.

Okay. I'll try my best.

Why are you bringing that up?

I own almost all of Hyunsung Distributions now.

I'll soon have control.

The person with the most shares is the owner.
