into my solitude

I began to hallucinate.

I stalked the creature

as it performed
its brutal burlesque

I could abide.

I ran out, hoping what
I had seen was only in my mind,

a demonic vision
driven by lack of glucose.

But somehow,
I knew that it was true

and that something terrible
had happened.
