Episode 8

Mom

Mom

Qing

Mom, what are you looking at? Why so secretive?

Nothing.

Maybe it's a token of love

you received when you were young?

You mischievous little girl.

How do you know what a token of love is?

I don't know what a token of love is,

but I know

whoever makes you upset is a bad man.

What's the matter?

Did someone say anything to you?

Mmm

All the servants say,

you are not in a good mood,

you don't eat properly and don't want to go out,

I‘m worried about you.

I know you are a good daughter,

I'm fine, don't worry.

If my birth daughter was still alive,

she'd be the same age,

and also knew how to care about me.

Qing is not a little girl any more,

it's time to find you a date.

Mom

Why do you bring up something like this?

When a man or woman comes of age, it's natural for him or her to get married.

There is nothing to feel bashful about.

I don't want to get married. I want to spend my life accompanying mom.

No, then I'd be hindering you from living your life.

If you have no one in mind,

then, I'll be thinking for you.

I don't like men from outside (our Mountain Spirit Realm).

Then you do have someone from our tribe in mind?

That's even better.

Tell mom,

who is so talented that

he can win your heart?

I can find you an auspicious day, dress you beautifully,

and host a perfect wedding.

In my mind, Brother Jing Xiu is very good.

No

Absolutely not.

Anyone but him.

Why not him?

Brother Jing Xiu is so talented.

What "brother"? He is the national adviser. You are the princess.

You need to respect the elderly and adhere to the order of old and young.

Mom

Get out

Princess

Princess

Your majesty

Qing has left?

Yes

But it seems like

she was upset

Even if she is upset, I can't make an exception

she can get whatever she wants,

but I can't spoil her regarding this.

What does Princess want?

She has feelings towards

Jing Xiu.

What?

It's been so many years,

I couldn't even see who he really is.

Princess is not familiar with the ways of the world,

she is too naive,

how could she know what Jing Xiu's true thoughts.

Don't be too worried.

Princess is still young,

she'll know better gradually.

I hope Qing

can understand my considerations for her.

Sister Lan, sister Lan,

Yesterday I heard her Majesty is asking Grandma Shi

to look for a girl of a similar age

as Princess Bao Qing.

Who are they looking for?

They are looking for her Majesty's birth daughter.

You've only come here recently so you don't know.

Isn't Bao Qing her birth daughter?

Let me tell you, you shouldn't tell this to anyone else,

Princess Bao Qing was adopted by her Majesty.

When her Majesty lost her daughter back then,

she spent all day mourning.

One day, she came across a Magical Turtle by the Da Yue Lake.

Princess Bao Qing was carried by this turtle on its back.

Seeing that the girl is around the same age as her birth daughter,

her Majesty took her back and raised her.

So that is how it is.

This is indeed a predestined relationship between her Majesty and princess.

Princess looks so innocent and lovely,

if I came across her when she was a baby,

I would be fond of her too.

Innocent and lovely?

Yes

Our princess

indeed LOOKS innocent and lovely

Sister, what are you implying?

What's up with Princess?

You'll know what I mean as time goes by.

Let's go.

Princess.

Go find out where this girl Lan usually goes when she is off duty

Okay.

Princess.

Go away. Don't follow me.

Yes

Old turtle,

Mother doesn't allow me to be with Jing Xiu,

do you think that's because I'm not her birth daughter?

Her daughter has been dead for so many years,

she still always kept her on her mind.

Those sordid servants even

dare to speak ill of me.

I'll make them dead one by one afterwards.

You are so dumb that you want to run away

otherwise I wouldn't need to chain you here.

Now you see

instead of running away,

you are completely dead and

totally useless.

Why are you shrieking?

Do you want to be eaten by me?

This annoying bird has been beaten to death by you

why do you still continue to beat it?

Who are you?

A by-passer.

Then just keep on passing by.

My beating of the birds is none of your business.

May I ask you something

has there been anything out of ordinary in this You Du Mountain recently?

Out of ordinary?

Yes, anything different from the other days

something abnormal

Of course there is.

You are also here for treasure hunting?

Treasure hunting?

Yes.

This mountain is the death place of the Demon King.

It used to be fogged with Demon Qi.

No one can get near.

But recently it's been strange,

the Demon Qi is still present,

but is innocuous now.

Ordinary people can even enter.

This is an ancient battlefield of the God-Demon war.

It's said to have a lot of treasures.

There's been a lot of treasure hunters recently,

you need to hurry if you want to go.

Really?

If you don't believe me, that's fine.

Where did he go?

If we can't find him,

it'll be us that'll end up dead.

Let's try walk ahead and look for him.

The Demon Qi is so heavy ahead.

If we go, we'll probably be dead. Let's go back for now.

That little girl wanted to harm me.

The Demon Qi here is not any weaker,

but a lot stronger.

Brother Jing Xiu,

I just saw Chi Bi left in a hurry,

were you busy?

Our Mountain Spirit Tribe has lots of species and a large territory.

When are we ever not busy?

You are here

because of something?

I can't come to see you when there is nothing I need?

Be careful!

What the hell is this? It bit me.

It's a flowering plant I raise.

What kind of flower is it?

Brother Jing Xiu,

It's named Ghost Ivy, grows in One Hundred Thousand Mountains.

It lives by drinking people and animals' blood.

It can produce a toxin.

Whoever got infected will feel extreme pain like his heart is burning and his bones being cauterized.

Bloody hell. What kind of plant you are raising! So dangerous. Throw it away.

It acts like people.

If it thinks you are weak, it'll attack you.

But if you control it completely,

let it know that

its life and death is only up to you,

then it'll be submissive to you forever.

Sometimes you need some kind of pain to remind yourself that

how good it is to be alive.

It hurt you,

I'll just burn it in a while.

If you need it, then please keep it.

Dad?

Dad?

You dead fox! Is your brain malfunctioning?

You want to beat me at first sight. Did you take the wrong pill?

It is you that I want to beat.

What are you doing?!

What am I doing?

You idiot bird! You don't return to your own home, because you lost your mind for a man.

[Cheng Yan] It is your fault that not only I was beaten by Mentor [Ling Xi's father], but also by Senior Sister [Qing Yao].

Today I must teach you a lesson.

If you keep doing this, I'll return the favor.

Do I look afraid?

Are you okay?

It hurts.

Where?

I didn't mean it.

It hurts!

It hurts?

You..

You idiot bird, why do you always play this trick?

You always fall for this trick, who is more stupid?

Idiot, idiot, idiot.

Cheng Yan

You are still angry?

Even though you get beaten by Dad, by Senior Sister and by me all the time,

but during my absence,

you've become more muscular.

What? Do you still want to fight with me?

Can you calm down a bit?

I haven't even drunk a sip of water since I'm back.

You wipe by yourself.

Where is my dad?

I don't know.

He is still not back?

He came back.

He yelled (about you) for three days and three nights in the yard, I guess he got tired, and went to sleep.

Then did say when he'll be back?

That's not easy to guess.

It is so common for him to simply get drunk at any place for three or five years.

What?

You need to find him?

Did someone bully you?

No.

Who bull-

I already said no.

Then why are you so bummed out?

Actually yes! Senior Sister treated me badly,

you go stand up for me.

Fox,

do you remember my dad told us that

there is a magical device that can repair everything?

Even if it's something that's burnt to ashes, it can still repair it back to the same?

Yes, I remember. It's Water Moon Ding. [Ding: tripod vessel, ancient Chinese cauldrons]

Yes. Do you still remember where the Ding is located?

It's at the South Pole Magical Continent.

I heard the Ding has three states.

Its second state can repair everything in the world.

It's an extraordinary magical device.

Why do you ask?

Nothing.

Really?

Let me tell you, stupid bird. You can't say this out loud outside.

It's the biggest secret at the South Pole Magical Continent.

It's only revealed because Mentor had a drinking contest once with the South Pole Immortal Lord,

the Lord disclosed it when he was drunk.

I also heard that

the South Pole Immortal Lord has spent over 10,000 years on manufacturing this device,

but still he couldn't make it recognize him as its owner.

All those magical treasures that came from the Sky and the Earth

are enlightened,

they can choose their owner on their free will.

I don't know who'll be lucky enough to be able to control it!

You still haven't told me why you are back?

I came back just because I want to.

Be honest with me

Okay..

Senior Sister kicked me here

I know you are not that compliant.

Cheng Yan,

I suddenly have a craving for the Peach Pancakes

made by Liu Yun Immortal.

Too much of a trouble. I'm not going.

Please go beg some for me.

All right. You wait here.

Yun Feng is still not back?

Yes

Shen Zun, maybe I can take a look too

He hasn't come back after such a long time

I guess he couldn't find a way in,

if he can't enter,

so will not you.

Looks like I need to go there myself

Shen Zun, no. You are still detained here.

I'll make my spirit leave from my body.

You two

guard for me.

It would cost too much of your cultivation to do the spirit-body split.

Will your body be healthy enough to handle it?

It won't be a problem.

But..

The Demon King is trying to break out of the Enchantment Mask.

I can feel it

We can't wait any more

Your Majesty

Destroying the war report

is a serious crime

Jiu Chen he intentionally broke the law

how could he be an example for all lords?

Your Majesty

In my opinion

The stripping of his title and the house detainment

are not enough as the punishment for his crime.

Moreover,

what happened 50,000 years ago at You Du Mountain is still unknown.

Jiu Chen..

Jiu Chen's merits and faults are also not determined yet.

100,000 soldiers..

up till now..

Huh?

Your Majesty

What's the matter?

Nothing. Continue.

Okay.

I think we can't leave things like this,

Pu Hua High Immortal and I have discussed..

[You Du Mountain]

Jiu Chen. We are seeing each other again.

Now that you can regain consciousness,

then I can survive too.

Wait until I get out,

then we'll fight again to see who is better.

You won't have this opportunity.

Stop

High Immortals

Who are you?

I'm a fairy from Fu Yun Palace.

No wonder I find your face familiar

You look suspicious.

What are you hiding behind your back?

Just some common house appliances.

Common stuff?

Why do you need to hide them?

There's something else going on

Let me take a look

Zi Guang High Immortal

These are really items for my personal use.

Can you people from Fu Yun Palace be trusted?

If we want to open it, we can.

No more words.

Why do you treasure them so much?

Aren't they just some broken and shabby stuff?

What's wrong?

Nothing.

Let's go

Let's go

Shen Zun

Shen Zun, are you okay?

You Du Mountain

The Demon King has woken up

Ling Xi, you are back

Where is Shen Zun?

In the palace

He didn't go outside?

No.

I've been here all the time.

You've been sleeping here all the time.

What's inside your bag?

I won't tell you

So secretive

Adviser,

do you want me to tell you the truth?

Witch Doctor

If you don't speak truth to me,

then I'll never hear any truth at all.

Your devil within

is getting more and more serious.

Adviser, you are a genius,

your natural endowments are so rare in the world,

you are only half a step away

from the High God level.

But you are stuck in this level for so long -

a few hundred years -

instead of making progress, you are actually retrogressing.

It's just because you have something you are so obsessed about,

that it became an inner devil for you.

Obsession?

I was told that a man needs to be obsessed about something

to achieve it.

Obsession is not the same thing as persistence.

Adviser,

you want to use Zhong Hao

to break the Spirit Chaining Abyss?

You are smart

What happened back then

has already happened

Even though Yuan Du is not dead

he is as much as a dead man

under the Abyss.

Why can't you let it go?

Mortals keep struggling in their short life

for merely a roof above their head and food on their table.

Only a few of them are lucky enough to climb up the social ladder and pursue their dreams.

You and I are immortals. What are we pursuing?

Some pursue immortality,

some pursue power,

some pursue love.

But I'm different.

I only pursue being happy,

carefree and comfortable.

Witch doctor,

don't try to teach some big nice theory to me,

the bigger the theory,

the more I hate.

Adviser, you do not trust her Majesty,

why don't you just ask her?

There are things that have to be kept vague to keep us safe,

if they are made clear,

then there is only one path left -

a life-or-death struggle.

They are father and daughter.

Her majesty was only collaborating with me back then.

After all these years of working together (as Queen and minister),

I don't want to compel her.

I'm just finishing what I need to finish.

Adviser,

What if she finds out and tries to stop you?

Stop?

The Four Seas are vast, but cannot harbor a rootless duckweed.

The lives of the millions of people in our Mountain Spirit Tribe

depend on you and her Majesty.

Adviser,

so please,

do not forget for one minute

your father's teachings.

My father?

Brother Jing Xiu,

Princess is here?

Then, I'll leave for now.

Okay.

Brother Jing Xiu,

Brother Jing Xiu,

I made ginseng soup for you.

Ginseng soup again?

Careful it's hot.

Thanks.

Drink it before it gets cold.

Does it taste good?

Good.

Have you seen your mother recently?

Yes, I went.

But,

I think she doesn't want to spend time with me.

You're overthinking.

Brother Jing Xiu,

if Mother's birth daughter returns,

will both of you not want to spend time with me?

Her birth daughter is long gone,

your are her only daughter.

Our Mountain Spirit Tribe

has only one princess - you.

But, I heard from Mother's servants that,

she's been

having people look for girls of a similar age to me.

They say she's looking for that birth daughter.

Is it real?

Princess, why are you back?

Do you want to capture me too?

I'm here to help you.

Then you look after my child for me.

She is by the mountain ahead of us.

I set up an Enchantment Mask to protect her.

But, I heard from Mother's servants that,

she's been

having people look for girls of a similar age to me.

They say she's looking for that birth daughter.

That baby is not dead.

Bi Fang

Bi Fang Bird

Doctor Qing Yao

What a small world!

Don't worry, doctor.

This little bird,

Let me handle it for you.

You little beast

Little beast

you dare to burn me?

Where is she?

You are back?

Shen Zun

Where did you go to play?

I just went out randomly

Where did you go?

I went to the Lord of Medicine Cave,

Shang Qing Realm and the Heaven Lake.

I went to see the Sun Chasing Bird.

The Sun Chasing Bird?

Was it interesting?

Yes, very.

That bird is so stupid,

it keeps flying towards the Sun,

with a great speed, like a blob of fire.

The Sun Chasing Bird is violent, when you went to see it, you didn't get hurt?

Thanks for Shen Zun's concern. I didn't get hurt.

Even if I get hurt, it'll be worth it.

Worth it?

I picked up a feather of his.

I'm detained in the palace, you are from this palace,

don't walk around.

If you have nothing to do, just stay within the palace.

Okay

By the way, Shen Zun. I want to ask you a favor.

What?

Shen Zun, as you know,

all people from our Peach Woods are good at medicine.

I'm also like that.

I've been studying medicine from my father and my senior sister since a kid.

We are very familiar with

practicing medicine and manufacturing medicine.

But ever since I came up here,

my skills have been put on hold.

Yesterday I bumped into my senior sister,

and was scolded by her.

As the saying goes, "Knowledge, like a sea, is boundless. Study is like sailing against the current, either you keep forging ahead or you keep falling behind."

I feel deeply shameful

So I want to ask if Shen Zun can allow me

to turn my room into a medicine room

to manufacture medicine and pills, and study medicine?

You know medicine

Yes.

Also know how to manufacture pills?

Correct.

Then suit yourself.

Thank you Shen Zun.

Yun Feng High God

Where is Doctor Qing Yao?

She went into the medicine room right away when she came back.

She hasn't stepped out since.

The medicine room?

Yes.

She is so idle. Ask her to come out.

Just say that I want to see her.

Report to High God,

when a medicine person starts manufaturing medicine, he or she can't be interupted.

If you want to see Doctor Qing Yao,

maybe you could wait a bit more?

For how long?

Uh, that I don't know.

Maybe you could come back later?

What a soulless woman!

Just forget about it!

High God, please leave slowly [i.e. goodbye].

My goodness.

Get up LingXi.

You are not making medicine.

You are making a magical device!

I heard that the Thunder Lord's Magical Fire Palm Thunder

is the magic spell that made him famous.

If you keep doing this,

you'll be able to defeat him.

Don't tease her any more.

Ling Xi,

it's understandable that as the only Earth Immortal in the whole Celestial Palaces,

you have a lot of pressure,

but you need to know your limits.

There are thousands of ways of cultivation,

why do you have to stick to making medicine?

I noticed that you have a big appetite,

look,

my mentor taught me the Whale Swallowing Technique [i.e. eat like a whale].

I'll teach it to you.

Then I'll make some food full of enlightenment for you.

You keep eating 8 or 10 tables of the food everyday,

after only 10,000 to 20,000 years, you'll be able to ascend to a High Immortal.

Ling Xi

Ling Xi

Ling Xi

Ling Xi

The Whale Swallowing Technique you just mentioned,

I think it suits me perfectly

I also think it suits you

Teach me then.

Let's go.

Why is it so hard?

I don't believe it
