Statistics show that 50% of all employees killed on the job work in convenience stores.

Here, what appears to be a simple purchase turns into a horrifying act of barbarism.

The frightened clerk backs away in shock as the robber empties the register.

Security experts and law enforcement always recommend that a victim complies with the demands of an armed robber.

Unfortunately, this clerk asked too many questions and paid the price.

What do you want me to do for you?

Hey!

You there?

There's no need!

No need!

Hey!

This store owner was not going down without a fight.

Tragically, it cost him his life as the robbers shot him repeatedly.

The business of movie making is sometimes very dangerous.

In Argentina, film crews capture the action as a chase is filmed for a movie.

The first run-through goes well, but the director wants another take, hoping to get it just

right.

Notice the cameraman behind the bush.

The cameraman are in place.

The first car overshoots its mark and backs up to return to its starting point.

Watch carefully as something goes wrong.

Suddenly, the car takes a sharp left turn down a small embankment where the camera crew is set up.

Watch again as the car inexplicably fears off course.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The officers prepare their cars for a local stock car race.

Drivers pull onto the track.

The drop of the green flag starts the race as the cars scream by at top speed, something

happens at the back of the pack.

Watch again as the race car becomes airborne and begins a series of dangerous roles.

The driver is ejected from the car and his helmet is ripped from his head upon impact

with the track.

Luckily, the driver is not crushed by his own car.

Rescue crews rush to the scene, some not realizing he was ejected from the car.

Amazingly, this driver survived his accident to race again.

Bogota, Colombia.

Skydivers take off from a local airport.

The plane achieves jumping altitude within a few minutes.

The skydive goes horribly wrong when the primary shoot fails to deploy.

Spectators scream for the driver to open his reserve shoot, but it's too late.

They walk away in shock from what they have just witnessed.

Two Texas state patrolmen react as a suspect refuses to get down on the ground, a struggle

ensues.

The police use their nightsticks as they are taught, but it has no effect on the powerful

suspect.

As the man wrestles both officers to the ground, they have no choice but to shoot.

Fat Tuesday, the day before Lent in the Christian church, brings to an end the Mardi Gras celebration

in New Orleans.

Over the years, traditions have evolved into the curious exchange of beads given to women

in exchange for showing their assets.

Another spring tradition takes place all across the southern United States as restless

college students descend on beaches, lakes and resort towns for fun in the sun.

The widespread use of the video camera has started a new tradition among these spring

break revelers and a competition between women.

Psychologists say the presence of the video camera encourages these women to take it off

in order to achieve the most notoriety and a few minutes of fame.

Sometimes these displays get out of control.

The 1998 Winter Olympics introduced a new form of extreme skiing to competition.

Crested butte, Colorado, a skier attempts to navigate a steep rock-covered hill.

He slowly negotiates his next move and jumps again.

Rescuers begin the difficult process of bringing the injured skier off the mountain.

The skier was lucky to survive.

The widespread use of dash-mounted surveillance cameras in police cars has not seemed to

reduce the number of suspects who try to flee from the police.

Police suspect pulls over for police but he has no intention of waiting around.

The chase continues at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The police cruiser can barely keep up with a high-powered motorcycle.

Suddenly the motorcycle breaks.

The police cruiser cannot stop in time and the two-ton car slams into the suspect, crushing

him to death.

Rob County, Georgia, a stolen Jeep is pursued by State Troopers.

The State Troopers ram the Jeep hoping to stop it.

They attempt a box maneuver.

Finally, the driver loses control.

One of the passengers is ejected and crushed by the Jeep when it stops a survivor attempts

to flee.

Hostage situations are the most dangerous of all police calls.

The safety of the hostage must remain the top priority.

Bogota, Colombia, a bank robber, has been cornered by police.

In a desperate move he has taken a pregnant woman hostage.

The robber is bleeding profusely from a wound to his arm as he continues to negotiate with

authorities.

The frightened woman can only wait and pray.

The man says he will not be taken alive.

Mexico City, another bank robbery suspect has been trapped inside.

He emerges with a hostage.

Once again, a police sharpshooter brings the drama to an end, saving the life of the

hostage.

The fire has engulfed a high-rise building in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

People stuck on the higher floors must make a difficult decision, suffocate from the

backward smoke or take the risk and leak from the building.

One man can wait no longer.

Tragically, the man lands a few feet from the fire truck that was not equipped to save

him.

Police officers sometimes must make difficult decisions when faced with a deranged suspect.

Here, an obviously disturbed man is surrounded by police in Oklahoma City.

The cameraman realizes he is not armed and ventures outside to get a better angle.

The man appears to challenge the officers.

He still resists his officers swarm over the suspect to take him into custody.

The man walks out onto the porch and raises the weapon.

A camera crew films extreme bicycle jumps for a television show.

The rider builds up speed and then begins his jump.

Though momentarily stunned, the rider survives to ride another day.

The next jumper will not be so lucky.

Watch from another angle as the rider misses the narrow landing ramp.

The paramedics attempt to resuscitate the rider, but there is nothing that can be done.

The Thailand Stock Exchange in Bangkok.

Investors study the board as the Asian financial crisis deepens.

Inside the lobby of the exchange, a distraught man, now bankrupt, holds a gun to his neck.

A spokesman for the exchange tries to reason with the man and convince him to seek psychiatric

training.

The man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Miraculously, he survived the suicide attempt after undergoing surgery to remove the bullet from his neck.

Security surveillance cameras capture this horrifying crime in a convenience store in Plano, Texas.

It's a rather peaceful night that turns deathly violent.

I'm trying to re-text.

I thought you forgot me.

I usually start, usually it takes about 20 minutes.

I've got 6, 8, 6, 8, I've got 48.

I've got to put the gallons in the...

Yeah, he can do it.

One, one.

Open it up and give it to my hero.

Finding the till empty, the gunman vents his frustration.

You ready to go?

Yeah.

Again, in slow motion, watch how the passing car takes the officer down.

Step back here, please.

A highway patrol officer never knows who they'll be dealing with in the dead of night.

Imagine trying to deal with a man this size who seems to be completely confused and potentially dangerous.

They're all over here for me, huh?

Good.

Your driver's license, please, sir.

Good.

Hey, right over here for me, huh?

I'm high.

Control that car, just roll away.

Service is better. Spray will pepper spray.

The man was captured two miles down the road and later convicted.

This abuse is strictly verbal.

Imagine having to listen to this.

If I got a word for the man, take the door to take the day off.

God damn asshole.

Now just give me the goddamn thing, let me get out of here.

I just do nothing wrong, I know I get.

Now I'll be get the fuck out of here.

And I didn't deserve it, cause I did do nothing wrong.

You're probably setting up high-quality right back door.

Get someone in the 40 miles up, whatever and freak it is.

I never saw the sign, I saw 55 and I was doing 57, that's all I know.

Now just give me the goddamn thing and I look at the thing.

If I'm working, I'll pay the fuck in fine, because I can't afford to take a day off.

And if I'm not working, I'll please not get it, cause I know fuck away, I'm not guilty.

There, now as you estate or local, it looks like you're estate too,

but get back and pick up some more guys, and run up the friggin' deficit on the working man.

Just give me the damn thing, let me get out of here.

I need you to do a sound of the X, so I can explain this to you.

I ain't no explain, I got picked up to speed and be clear off.

You're guilty and you paid the fine, and hope you're insurance don't do that.

You tried not to speed the next time.

That's what I've been trying to do, for four or five years and it's worth damn good.

Do I run into you or you ask her?

Green coffee's for your record sir.

I don't like it.

My coffee needs to be mailed in within 20 days.

Okay.

Make sure you read the...

I can't read, now I've picked the stuff away, I get those in there all the time, I don't eat them again.

Seven dollar glasses, yeah.

Alright, just tell me what I do, Lincoln court?

No.

Where?

Read the instructions here, this says you have 20 days to respond to the summons.

With the back of this hard coffee, this will explain how you can have a trial if you want.

On the back, that will explain it, it attaches an envelope.

Okay, for the stamp down there, you mail that in.

I'll just say what to do.

I can't do it, I can't do it.

The signs are in here sir.

It's 137 days, I'll pick the steps.

When you were running on the pay to produce insurance, that's expired.

It's expired on her team!

The pay is in 16.

Bad bad, how can you offer a copy?

Alright, copy.

You want your license or an illustration?

What's right?

Well, I feel like the bill was due to insurance, I probably got a year.

Like I said, my right by the price of her heart, when I came home,

she'd take the money out of her savings account because I'm fucking dealin' with blood.

Because the cost of livin' is gone up.

My paycheck is gone down cause we gettin' up that time on Sunday.

Our insurance were not twenty dollars a week, two weeks ago, twenty to forty dollars a week.

And that's what's happening in the last eight, ten years, to the whole fucking country.

We've shut down the industry, we're gonna take it, and have pay insurance is gone up,

but there is hope, and I'm gonna watch it tonight, when Bill Paine gives us an acceptance speech,

because there is hope, if we can get this economy going again,

it's not beating people's air, and get assholes like you to goof up the pizza,

and instead of picking up some fucking innocent guy that was just feeding the people with you.

Bye.

With the advent of videotape equipment on highway patrol vehicles, police pursuits have become seemingly more common but in fact, we just didn't see them.

A man has stolen a lawn mower from a local hardware store, loaded it in the back of his pickup and is racing away from authorities.

The danger of an accident increases as the pickup travels deeper into a populated residential area.

And we were pursuing the suspect who was apparently being pursued for a possible burglary incident that occurred in the City of Lancaster.

The pursuit had terminated here on the off ramp of Los Flores in the City of Carlsbad.

This is the kind of dancing you'd expect to see at a club like this.

But lap dancers were arrested by the authorities because a hidden camera showed them more was going on than just stripping.

This is the footage you didn't see on the evening news.

Getting the best view possible is the goal of a professional cameraman. Many times in their quest to get the press,

they place themselves in grave danger. At a road rally in Canbury, Australia, a 280Z comes speeding around a turn and loses control.

This is what the cameraman saw.

At a different angle, we see the Z take out the cameraman and his equipment.

At the Daytona Arthur 200, with cars racing around a track at speeds approaching 200 miles per hour, you know when you take the wheel that accidents are part of the business.

But sometimes innocent bystanders can be victims to an out of control stock car.

MUSIC

Watch what happens to paramedic Mike Staley when a car swerves out of control and motors onto the infield grass.

MUSIC

Slow motion gives you the full impact of this terrifying collision. Mike suffered numerous broken bones, hundreds of stitches, first, second and third degree burns, but still managed to survive.

In another part of Eastern Europe, other lives are coming to an end in a more predictable way. A crowd of several thousand people gather in the Chechen capital of Grozny to watch the public execution of two convicted rapists.

MUSIC

A final prayer for the rapist's souls.

MUSIC

That's a good thing I said, man.

Six relatives of the rape victim carry out the death sentence.

A

shopping center in Rio de Janeiro. Shoppers make their way inside when suddenly gunshots ring out. A news camera crew who happen to be on the scene rush outside to see what the gunshots are all about. They discover police have cornered two robbers fleeing in a white van.

MUSIC

As the cameraman moves in closer to cover the story, he discovers the driver shot dead and his accomplice captured.

MUSIC

Everything seems under control until the police discover a weapon under the pant leg of the robber. This incenses the police who decide to take the law into their own hands.

They order the cameraman to stop tape and think he has complied. Obviously, he hasn't.

In broad daylight, the police drag the captive behind the van and execute him.

Angry townspeople quickly gather at the crime scene and a news reporter with a microphone in his left hand surveys the bloody aftermath.

MUSIC

A aware of the injustice that has taken place, the reporter goes on the record to inform the public. The cameraman, fearful of police retaliation, has since gone into hiding.

Here again, the officer drags his captive behind the van, draws his weapon and performs the execution.

MUSIC It's a beautiful day for the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. The New Mexico sky is filled with 400 brightly colored air balloons.

Keep your eye on this balloon as it begins its descent. The breeze takes it into the power lines and the balloon gets entangled. Two people in the basket stay down to avoid being electrocuted. Home video captures what happened.

Jesus.

What do you do? I wish you could go call with hand guards. Go call something. Go ahead.

OK, where is my name?

Call a rescue or something.

MUSIC

Oh, Jesus. Oh, Jesus. It just burned through the rust. Oh, Jesus.

I thought what the hell is the power line on?

Luckily, no one was fatally injured in this freak accident.

In Moscow, a hidden camera captures two Russian thugs brutalizing a local businessman, so he will pay them extortion money.

They are unaware secret police are watching the confrontation on a nearby television monitor who wait for the right moment to barge in and make their arrest.

MUSIC

This man stops his assault to get a wire which he wraps around the victim's neck and starts choking him to death. Where are the police?

The slow motion replay clearly shows the man fighting to stop the wire from choking him to death.

A hidden surveillance camera records gang warfare in a pool hall in El Monte, California. Keep your eye on the two men's circled, members of rival Asian gangs.

Watch what happens to the man in the plaid shirt.

He's taken down and dragged against his will outside the pool hall.

MUSIC

Somehow, he manages to escape but is chased and shot down by the rival gang member. He died a short time later.

A different kind of execution in Guatemala. These two men kidnapped, raped and then murdered an innocent woman. Against appeals by human rights groups and a late petition by Pope John Paul, the state execution went on. The press covers the event.

MUSIC

The men are still alive. A doctor checks the bodies and instructs the officer to finish the job.

With no sign of emotion, the officer methodically goes about his business.

Villagers in the town of Playa Vicente watch as this man in briefs, hands tied behind his back, obviously beaten, has been accused of raping and strangling a local girl. There has been no official trial or defense for the man, just the action of local townspeople.

What makes this scene so chilling is the calm atmosphere in the village as they wait to douse the man in flammable liquid and set him on fire.

Townspeople, including young children, seem unmoved by the man's barbaric execution.

When word reached the authorities about this vigilante justice, police infiltrated the village, conducted an extensive investigation and made a number of arrests. Many arrested proclaimed their innocence and signed documents standing by their actions.

A typical rush hour scene at the end of the day at a train station in Champaign, Illinois, commuters return home.

A train enthusiast has set up his video camera to record the last run of an historic locomotive. He never thought he would witness the following tragedy. Watch what happens as an impatient traveler attempts to cross the tracks.

It's stuck in a rose tube, stopping here now.

On a 4-0-6, we've had several more trains, other one in sight, behind it as I have the light.

And then there, it'll be on the center track.

We're going to get thrown over here.
