And I really didn't
know what to do.

I just feel like when somebody
like wants recovery so bad,

and they work so hard every
day--like imagine living

with a disease where like
you try every day,

and you go to your
meeting and everything,

but like your mind
is telling you like,

"You're a horrible
person."

It's not like
he's trying to drink

'cause he wants to have fun.

It's like he's drinking
'cause he hates the feeling

of his own skin.

Like that just makes me so sad.

It just like breaks my heart.

I used to always be in shape
and do stuff like that.

thought I'd have body issues,

And then we started
taking photos and stuff.

And I was just like, "."

I just was very
uncomfortable with myself,

you know what I mean?

And that kinda tipping
point happened there,

where I was like,
I'm--I've checked out.

Manipulated the situation,
"I'm gonna go call my sponsor,"

went straight to
the liquor store.

- Whoa.

I ended up gaining
like 30 pounds.

The self-image hate was so bad.

And it got to the point where
I was just so uncomfortable,

and I just couldn't
take it anymore.

You know, I thought
about my wife,

and I thought about Delilah,

whether I should be
doing this or not.

And I still did it.

I thought drinking was gonna be
the solution, and it wasn't.

- I know what you mean.

When I was depressed,
I got up to 250 pounds.

Like I walk around
at 170 usually.

Like I ate, like that was my--
- Outlet.

- Yeah, like I was eating
literally pies--multiple pies

like every night.

So, that's why I'm now trying
to do Jiu-Jitsu every day,

work out, 'cause I know I-- I
wanna feel good about myself,

so I totally hear
what you're saying.

- I don't wanna like put a cover
over what's really going on.

I let a liquid
take control of me.

Um, last time I did
that, it was three years.

You know, I ended
up catching it,

reached out to my
guys in the program.

scared, dude.

The part that's really,
really hard is, you know,

knowing everything that I have,
because I'm very blessed.

I have such a good life.

If I continue down that
path, I'll lose Ashley,

I'll lose my daughter, and lose
everything that I've created.

many different things in life
