We humans kept to ourselves in order to not disturb them.

Memoirs of a Hero and a Princess

However, there was one person who wanted to change that.

She was the princess of the Kingdom of Pastillage;

its last Queen, and Hero Princess, Clarifie.

We called her Fie.

The Hero that she summoned was the daughter of a French noble

who had been displaced to the middle of nowhere.

That was me, of course.

And we became more powerful as we developed my Hero Stone and Fie's Spirit Stone.

To find the legendary demon-banishing sword,

we had to travel far, far up into the sky.

It's a big one!

By the time we knew it, we had become famous around the world.

We defeated over two thousand demons, which sped up Valery's research immensely.

Many of the roads were reclaimed, and nations were able to get in touch with one another.

The people of Flonyard became much happier.

This peace did bring the rise of wars between nations...

but only until our princess founded a particular organization.

This was the Continental Treaties Organization,

which would set rules on international conflicts.

It's the symbol of peace in Flonyard that we still maintain today.

What a great story!

I'd never heard that about my predecessors before.

That was about when Valery the demonologist stopped showing up in public.

Why was that, if I may ask?

Research isn't something I can just quit cold turkey.

I had to maintain a lot of live demons and samples for my research.

Because of that, I figured I might as well stay in the basement and call myself the "Demon King."

It started out as a joke, but I guess I couldn't stop myself...

I pushed around the guys that came to challenge this "Demon King,"

and I went around teaching lessons to some lords that had forgotten about demons entirely.

And with his help, my body was able to... develop a little more.

Fie never stopped searching for Demons.

We saw our children grow up and move on with their own lives,

and saw the faces of our grandchildren.

That was when we decided to rest with Fie.

Isuka and Hina continued their journey...

and I met Yukikaze,

soon after my brother and I decided to travel separately.

And after Shinku and Couvre woke us from our slumber...

That's where we are now.

We couldn't be happier to see our descendants living happily in a peaceful world,

and I'm sure Fie thinks the same.

But that doesn't mean it'll last forever.

A hero won't just pop out of nowhere to save you.
