[Music]
it's the futurism digitalization the
port of rotterdam is the biggest port in
europe and i believe it's still one of
the greatest port maybe degrade its port
in the world but we need to change we
need to transform because i believe that
the future of the port is somewhere else
digitalization is going to offer us a
number of things it's going to offer us
more efficient operation of what we're
already doing but that's just the
starting point because it will also
unlock more value with our clients
because we provide them with a digital
service I believe firmly that it's going
to make money as well we're using the
best technology available to collect all
the data transform it into information
which can be acted upon by our operators
IBM was chosen because we believe that
we share the same vision and we also
believe that IBM has the capabilities
for it one of the applications that we
developed together with our partners is
an application that coordinates ships
berthing at a terminal that is a very
complex operation because it interacts
with a lot of people you devolved the
terminal operator the captain of the
ship obviously ourselves so long people
interact and because it needs to be done
safely and securely
it also takes some time and when you are
able to view all the operations of all
these different parties on the same
dashboard then you were able to
coordinate much more safe and also much
more efficient that same operation and
that could save up to one hour for
berthing a ship the value of one hour
for an operator of a ship is about
$80,000 with the choice for the
partnership with IBM we've entered on a
journey where we cannot see the end but
it is going to be a very inspiring
journey and it's going to be the
starting point of an exciting event
which will attract other people which
will attract new competencies I
sincerely hope that they will come to
the port of our mo work with us to make
this a very exciting story
