I love Stephen Sondheim as a composer

he's just one of those people that can

take a story from somewhere you would

least expect and find the common

humanity that makes all of us tick and

that's what he did with this play Sunday

in the park with George is based on the

pointless Pater George Seurat and based

on his life and his love and his work as

he's creating this painting Sunday

afternoon in the island of lagron shot

and this is not the actual painting I

was I was excited when they brought it

in I'm like oh thanks

got some Thomas Crown Affair stuff going

on here okay but this is one of my

favorite songs from that musical and

it's a song about having to dive

completely into his work well his life

his love everything else that makes

everybody you know work as human beings

is collapsing around him and how he just

has to have that singular focus on the

work and how it relates to his life and

it's called finishing the Hat and we'll

do it freedom
