(Laci laughs)
- Okay.
- [Laci] Was that a relatable laugh?
Did I laugh relatably and poor?
- Do you think I'm poor?
- No.
- Hi, I'm Tamar.
- I'm Alex.
- And this is "Last Looks."
(upbeat funky music)
- Oh, what's your go-to pickup line?
(imitates dog growling)
(upbeat jazzy music)
- [Tamar] Talk to me a little bit about
the hair and makeup process for Laci .
- It was really important again, to have a great balance
of using prosthetics for some people,
but also having enough of a human-like face.
And some, we didn't want this to turn into a creature show
or a full prosthetic show.
We still wanted the character makeups.
This look, you wanted the cute little poodle nose.
And for the hair, that was definitely an evolution, too,
where we went through all the different ways
we could take this character.
Do we wanna be completely accurate
to a poodle like hairstyle?
Do we want to make it more fun
and have the essence of, you know,
this fun, bouncy, poodle-like dog?
And that's what we decided on.
- Maybe I should consider pink in real life.
This look like a 4C twist out right here.
Like, okay, this is cute.
- [Alex] She was a fun one in the chair. She was so excited.
- [Makeup artist] Open and look. Eyes on me.
- And we have beautiful eyes.
It's a little bit of reflection in your eyes.
Don't try that.
Not you closing your eyes so I can't see
through your eyes.
(Laci giggling) - [Makeup Artist] Look up.
There you are. There you go.
- I tell everyone
in my chair- - Yep.
- that I personally couldn't be in their shoes.
- Totally. - And I think
it's all about communicating with them
and also joking and trying to keep the mood very light
and not serious.
Because if you're so intense and doing your work,
they're feeling that tension
and they're already uncomfortable
'cause it's such a big window of time.
- I can't touch it.
- [Alex] Guess who's' back? - Okay.
- [Makeup Artist] Your two favorite people.
- Yes, I'm trying to-
- And don't worry.
Bruce is hovering in the corner.
He's watching. (group laughs)
- [Laci] Bruce is always watching.
- [Alex] Will you pin?
I think last season we had chosen specifically
for new people- - Yeah.
- Not to be too prosthetic heavy.
- Yeah. - And this season,
I think we were a little more brave and being like,
you know, they can handle it.
- [Tamar] Totally.
Devi, our producer and Bindi, our production coordinator,
are sending our talent surveys to say like, you know,
are you allergic to anything?
Like, do you have sensitive skin?
You know, all of this stuff.
- I got an email the next day from my managers I think,
and they were like,
"How comfortable are you with prosthetics?"
So I was like, "All right." (group laughing)
- [Tamar] We're very conscious of planning a look
for that person that won't be something
that is uncomfortable for them in the long run.
- These are really good prosthetics.
Like if I wanted to rob a bank, like, you know,
who would catch me?
You know? Like, I'm kind of into it.
I should do more prosthetics just like everyday life.
(upbeat funky music)
- I had been wanting this look since season one
and we finally got it and it was adorable.
- [Alisha] We go through this very long ideation phase,
and so anytime you can kind of take reality
and turn it on its head a little bit,
I think it speaks to this show.
So I wanted it to be an unconventional color.
A tail was great.
I really enjoyed that element to keep that very poodle like.
- [Laci] Okay, though.
It got some action though.
- [Tamar] She looked a little poodle, a little human,
a little bit creature.
- [Alisha] I wanted it to feel like it had legs
outside of the box that you would be put in
if you were just a straight poodle.
- I have a collar on and I can't tell
because of the latex, if this is,
'cause I'm a dog or if this is like a sensual thing.
I don't know if this is sensual or not.
But it's a cute, like, I feel like
I'd be a rich person's dog.
(upbeat funky music)
- [Tamar] She did end up taking it as a poodle,
but what I really liked was that
she really could have taken it
so many different ways- - Right.
- And like, yeah. - We kept it vague enough,
which is something we discuss a lot in our design meetings
and our pitch meetings is we wanna make sure
we don't lock these actors into something they have to be.
And I think you were really great about wanting this look,
but also making it diverse enough
that they can take it anywhere.
- [Tamar] After the reveal, we were talking to Laci
and there were so many different ways
that she could have taken it.
And we were talking about, you know,
her taking it as maybe like a Whoville-
- Right. - Type of character.
I really loved the choice that she made.
You can get, as a rich guy's dog who died
and it was just a really, really funny choice.
- Yeah, but why does it matter?
I'm a dog. - Dog.
- You said it. I'm a dog.
All dogs go to heaven. There's no consequences.
There's nothing in the law book
that says a dog can't stab a man repeatedly
and then clean it with bleach.
