[cheerful music]

[wind gusting]

[Cora] Whoo!

-Oh my, oh my goodness! -[Mr. Brown] It's getting bad!

Hey, good morning, Miss Cora, Mr. Brown!

Good morning!

Good morning, it's getting bad.

[Efe] Oh, it looks it!

I can't believe it's snowing in Georgia.

[Cora] Yes! Well, the weatherman predicted this one.

-Oh, let me help you with that. -Oh, thank you.

Yeah, okay, I'll just take my own.

You have muscles, carry it yourself.

[Cora laughs] Oh my Lord...

[doorbell rings] [Mr. Brown] I'ma get

the other stuff.

Whoo.

Ah, Philip, you home early from school.

Yeah, they canceled school as soon as I got there.

It took me over an hour to get back here.

But your school is only 10 minutes up the road.

[Philip] Yeah, exactly.

I mean, the streets are jam-packed with traffic.

Well, you know, it took us two hours to get over there.

-Two hours? -Yeah.

-You're kidding me. -No.

No, it's getting worse out there.

Cars are stuck everywhere.

Well, yeah, and I told Mr. Brown to pack a bag,

'cause I knew we was gonna be staying for a few days.

Yeah, I'm glad you did, Cora,

'cause we're gonna be snowed in, it look like.

-Snowed in? In Georgia? -[Mr. Brown] Yeah.

You think it's going to get that bad?

Yeah, the weatherman said be prepared to be snowed in.

Ah, look at that.

They've canceled my classes.

Yeah, I don't think my dad's gonna make it to Atlanta today.

-[Cora & Mr. Brown] Atlanta? -Yeah, remember?

He has to get the furniture for the nursery?

Yes, he's left already. He went early with Vinny.

[Cora] Oh, my goodness.

Well, I hope they don't get caught in this snowstorm.

Well, that is why he left early.

He said he wanted to go and come back before it got bad.

Well, it done already got bad. It's bad.

[Cora] You got class today, Sandra?

Uh, I did. It just got canceled.

Ah, mine too.

Hey, looks like we all got a day off.

[Cora] All right! Look like I'm finna to make

a big breakfast for everybody.

Yeah. Yes!

That's agreatplan, Miss Cora.

[Cora] All right.

This is my I'm-so-hungry dance.

Oh, that means you gonna help me.

Okay, I'm gonna go check on my mom.

Oh. So is everything okay in there?

No, she's good.

She's just so tired of having to be in bed all day,

-every day. -Well, it's almost over.

-She just have a few more weeks. -I know.

Her pregnancy is going by so fast.

-[Cora] Right. -[Mr. Brown] Yep.

Uh, Philip, can you help me get

the rest of this water out the car?

-[Philip] Okay, sure. -I'll help, too.

He's calling it in the mood.

[doorbell rings]

[Cora] All right.

Good morning, Miss Cora.

Well, good morning, Miss Anastasia.

Can I help you with anything?

Sure you can.

I'm putting away these groceries.

I assume the thermostat is on the blanker again.

Oh, why would you say that?

-The rooms are really cold. -Oh.

Well, I have to tell Jeremy about that.

Especially with the weather being like it is.

-Yeah. -Whew!

-It's cold out there. -[Cora] Yeah, it's coming down.

-I think I got frost-eat. -You frostbit, you mean?

[Mr. Brown] Well, whatever it is, I got frostbit.

-[Cora laughs] -[Mr. Brown] Whew!

Oh, boy, I tell you. We gonna put all this away.

Whew! All right.

The road is jam packed.

-The streets is bad. -[Cora] Yep.

[rumbling, whoosh]

[Cora] Oh Lord!

? No matter what you do, I love you ?

? No matter where you go, I'm behind you for sure ?

? Always remember, blood ain't never water ?

? We'll make it if we stay together ?

[rumbling, wind gusting] [music]

What the what?!

The power must've went out.

-It must be the storm. -But don't we have a generator?

[Mr. Brown] Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

I know we got one.

Well, hopefully it'll pop on here in a minute.

-Wait. -I hope so.

What are those lights right there?

Are they from the generator?

Oh, no, no, that's not from the generator.

Them the emergency lights I installed.

Yes, I installed emergency lights.

You remember I installed them, Cora?

Yes, Mr. Brown.

I looked at them lights while they was in that store,

and something in my spirit said, "Grab me, grab me!"

I was looking at them, spirit just say,

"Mr. Brown, put them lights in." So I put them lights in.

These the same ones they have

in the hospitals and the schools.

Well, I'm glad the spirit led you to put those lights in,

-Mr. Brown. -[Mr. Brown] It led me, Cora.

[Efe] Okay, Mr. Brown, that is good,

but we need a generator if the power does not kick on.

Does that power control the heat in this old building?

Well, no power, no heat.

Eh! No power, no heat?

-Is that a slogan or something? -No power, no heat.

We have to get the generator on.

I mean, I could call my dad.

[Efe] Well, I hope he can come back quickly.

Well, that's if he can get up that hill.

Them cars been going up that hill,

sliding right back down.

They all stuck at the bottom.

Well, Philip, it may be a good idea for you to call your dad

and tell him about the traffic, you know?

Maybe he can hurry up and get back.

-Yes, ma'am. -All right.

Efe, is your room cold?

-My room is freezing. -Yes, my room is cold, too.

[Sandra] Hey, what's going on with the lights?

[Anastasia] The power went out.

Mom and I are just sitting in the dark.

-Let me get y'all some candles. -[Sandra] Thanks, Miss Cora.

[Anastasia] Question for you, Sandra.

-Is it cold in Leah's room? -Freezing.

-Mama's just complaining. -Well, that's not good.

We definitely have to do something

'cause she don't need to be cold.

No, and she doesn't look too good.

I think she's coming down with something.

[Cora] Oh, my Lord, that's not good.

[Efe] I think we can draw a clear conclusion

that we're stuck in a snowstorm and we have no heat.

Oh my God...

Y-you thought of that all by yourself

just right at the random.

[sucks teeth]

Wow. [wind gusting]

Whew!

[Cora] Wow, it's comin' down out there.

My dad and Grandpa Vinny are stuck in traffic on the freeway.

They said they've been at a complete standstill

for the past two hours.

I was afraid of that.

Maybe they should just get off the freeway.

He's trying, but, I mean,

traffic is jammed, bumper to bumper.

So what did he say about the generator?

He said it should be working fine

since they just rebuilt the engine.

-[Cora] Okay. -[Mr. Brown] Well, did you tell

him it's not working fine even with the rebuilt engine?

-Yeah, it runs on gas. -[Efe & Mr. Brown] Oh.

Maybe that's it.

Yeah, my dad said I should go check it out

and see if it's out of gas.

-Oh. -That's a good idea.

Well, let's see if it's out of gas, then.

Oh, shoot.

[Mr. Brown] Ooh, it's a lizard out there.

-[Philip] A blizzard! -[Mr. Brown] Yeah, that.

My mom's room is really cold.

-[Efe] Oh, that is not good. -That is not good at all.

Do we have, like, a space heater

or something we can put in there?

Well, that wouldn't be any good right now

because we don't have any electricity.

Oh, we need a plan B.

Well, that's true.

We do need a plan B, but until then,

I do have some extra blankets over here.

-Okay? -Okay.

She's also asking for some hot tea or something.

The stove is ran by electric as well.

Wow.

Oh, I see you have your coat on, Anastasia.

Yes, I'm freezing.

You know, I was telling Cora we need to think of a plan B.

A plan B? Like what? Going somewhere to shelter?

For where?

How would we get there? Huh? The roads are jammed.

Thanks for the blankets, Miss Cora.

I'm going to get these to my mom.

Okay, baby.

[wind gusting]

-Eugh! -[Cora] Oh my goodness.

Ooh!

Ugh, ugh!

Well- [sputters] the generator's out of gas.

Well, that's kind of some good news, Mr. Brown.

So when you get the gas, hopefully it'll work.

Yeah, my dad said it would.

Yeah, but it's a gas station, over off of Leland.

Okay, it's like two miles away, Mr. Brown.

Yeah, but Cora, can't nobody drive on them roads out there.

-It's bad. -[Anastasia] They are.

Look how bad it's gotten out there.

Yeah, it's snowing like it's the North Pole out there.

-It's a snowmageddon. -I can walk.

Well, who's gonna walk with you, Philip?

No, I can walk by myself.

You old people just slow me down.

Old people?

Well... [scoffs]

Well, you young, go on and walk by yourself.

There's some gas cans out there in the shed.

Get them. Take them with you.

Hmm.

Well, we old? I ain't old...

[wind gusting]

Okay, in the meantime,

does this fireplace work?

Well, we only use it every once in a while,

but ain't no wood in it right now.

Oh, but isn't there an old wood stack in the back?

-[Mr. Brown] Yeah. -Yes, there is.

There's a lot of wood right there on the side of the shed.

Oh, okay. Mr. Brown, come on!

Let's go get some wood.

We have to start a fire.

We will camp out in the living room if we have to.

Why every time somebody say "go outside,"

they say "Mr. Brown"?

-[Efe] Come on, my friend. -I ain't your friend.

[Cora] It's coming back down now.

-[Mr. Brown] Whoo! Whoo! -[Efe] All right!

[Mr. Brown] I'ma make a snow giraffe.

Well, I'm gonna start up the propane grill

so we can cook some food.

[Anastasia] Okay, I'll help you, Cora.

[Cora] Okay.

[laidback music] [wind gusting]

[Mr. Brown]Whew!

I ain't goin' back out there.

Has anyone seen Reginald this morning?

-No, I haven't. -[Efe] No, I haven't seen him.

Well, I hope he ain't went for no walk.

No, Mr. Brown,

we would have saw that on our new security system.

-It would have told us that. -It's okay.

-I'll just check on him. -[Cora] Okay.

Oh Lord.

Does Dad know you're walking to the gas station, Philip?

Yes, but he said not to tell Mom,

so don't say anything, Sandra.

He just don't want to worry your mom, okay?

Your dad told him to go.

Well, should you be going alone?

Guys, I'm just going for a walk.

Everybody acting like I'm going to the moon or something.

Just let me go, and I'll get back as soon as I can.

Look, Dad and Grandpa Vinny said they're going to be

bringing more gas with them when they get here.

Uh, you make sure you call us when you get there.

Yes, please. Call us if you have any problems.

Yeah, uh, yes, sir.

All right, guys, I got to get going.

-Everybody's cold. -Okay, all right.

-You be careful, okay? -[Philip] Okay.

And I did get the grill going outside

so we can get something to eat.

Well, good, Cora, 'cause I'm hungrier than a pregnant wolf.

[Cora] Okay, Mr. Brown.

Cora, I'm so hungry, my stomach just bit my liver.

-[Cora] Yes, sir. -Cora, I'm hungry all over.

Everybody's hungry.

What, what? Don't I look famished?

You look full.

You look like them kids on TV.

Would y'all stop it? Everybody's hungry.

-[Anastasia] Cora! Cora! -Yes, ma'am?

I hadn't seen Reginald all morning,

and I went to check on him,

and he was on the floor convulsing!

Oh my God!

And it appears as though he's been there for some time,

and he's having a medical emergency!

-What? -What?

[somber music]

[wind gusting]

Okay, you dial 911!

I'll do it! I'll call them.

And you go get your mother! She's a nurse.

-Yes ma'am. -Okay.

Oh my God.

[Efe] Come on, come on, come on, come on...

[Recording] Hello. You have reached

the emergency call center switchboard voicemail.

All dispatch operators are busy now.

-What? Are you kidding me? -[911]Please hold the line

and an operator will be with you shortly.

I'll try again.

Come on, please, please pick up.

[Recording] Hello. You have reached

the emergency call center switchboard voicemail.

All dispatch operators are busy now.

Please hold the line

and an operator will be with you shortly.

Okay, come on, come on, come on.

Any luck, Mr. Efe?

No, not yet.

-Is he conscious? -Well, Mr. Brown

got him in the bed and Leah is taking his vital signs now.

Oh, so is it a stroke or something?

I really don't know, but he's talking really slow and labored.

There's definitely something wrong

and he really needs a doctor.

Okay, 911 has me on hold.

-911 have you on hold? -Yes.

Out of all services to put you on hold?

-Unbelievable. -Oh my God.

Okay, uh, hey, I think we need to get a fire started.

He'll be much better if he's warm.

-His room is freezing! -Oh my God.

Well, here, I'll stay on hold, Mr. Efe.

Oh, okay, okay.

Mr. Brown, is he convulsing?

Well, when I went in there, he was coughing and he was shaking,

just shivering.

Oh, so, so it might be a very bad cold.

No. Well, at his age, that could be something serious.

Okay, I'm going to go get some old newspaper and matches.

-Let's get this fire started. -All right.

[somber music]

[wind gusting]

-Well, is he all right? -[Efe] He's okay.

I just hope an ambulance comes soon.

[Mr. Brown] Yeah.

Well, I see we got the fire going pretty good.

[Efe] Yes, yes.

When I put more wood, the fire gets bigger.

[Mr. Brown] Yeah, yeah.

It seems to be giving off pretty good, good heat.

[Efe] Yeah, uh...

Shouldn't Philip be back by now?

That's what I was thinking.

He better come back quickly before Leah starts to miss him.

[Mr. Brown] Oh, yes. We don't want that.

He said the place is just a couple of miles away.

Yeah, well, you know the roads is bad.

-That's, that's one thing. -Yeah.

-Didn't we tell him to call us? -Yeah, but his phone kept going

straight to voicemail when I called him.

Well, at least the fireplace is working well.

Yeah, yeah.

It's putting out some pretty good heat, too.

Yeah. It feels heavenly.

-[Mr. Brown] Yeah, yeah. -[Efe] It is.

Oh, good.

You guys got the fire going.

Uh, is he okay?

[Leah] Uh, he's sleeping.

I'm monitoring him closely,

but we do need to get him to a doctor.

Oh, did Cora ever reach anyone at the 911 call center?

[Efe] I knew she was on hold for some time.

Okay.

Wait, aren't we eating in the kitchen?

No, we're gonna eat in here. Just sit it down right here.

I was able to do some hot dogs and hamburgers for us.

Uh, Cora, were you ever able

to reach anyone at the emergency call center?

Yes, finally. After a while, a lady answered,

and she said that the roads were blocked,

and the phones have been flooded with calls.

But she said she would call us as soon as they could get to us.

But they are prioritizing the calls.

Are you kidding? [stammers] That's it?

-That's it. -Cora, this man is really sick.

I know, Leah. I know.

-Do you know what it is? -[Leah] Who knows?

If we're lucky, it's a cold. I was checking his breathing,

and I did hear some fluid in his lungs, though.

So whatever it is, it's likely turned into pneumonia now.

So, so what can we do?

We need to do our best to get him as comfortable

as possible until we can get him to a doctor.

Well, first, let's just try to get him to eat something.

Yeah, well, soup or tea would be great.

Well, I did get the grill going outside,

so what I could do is try to figure out something.

Okay.

[Cora] Sandra, would you mind getting me

-a couple pots out the kitchen? -Yes, ma'am.

Okay, so I'll do that, and I'll be back.

Uh, where's my son?

Sandra, where's your brother?

Uh, Dad sent him out to get gas for the generator.

-Gas for the generator? -Yeah, yeah.

You know, that crazy generator been acting up.

And if we can get some gas in it,

though, we can get it warm in this place.

We can get some heat.

Oh, he definitely needs some heat on in here.

Wait...

What is he doing out in this weather?

He said he wanted to go alone so he can go faster.

Well, him and Jeremy said it'd be fine.

Okay, I'm gonna strangle Jeremy.

Where's my son? How long has he been gone?

-Well... -Well?

What do you mean, well?

You let my son go out in a snowstorm by himself?

Hey, hey, hey! What's wrong now?

Philip went out walking in a snowstorm by himself, Cora.

Well, well, his dad told him to go get gas.

And, and the roads were so bad, the only way you can get

to the gas station was walk.

-How long has he been gone? -[Efe] Uh...

-For a little while. -[Leah] For a little while?

Sandra, call your brother.

[Sandra] I tried, but it went to voicemail.

Voicemail? Mr. Efe and Mr. Brown,

how long has my son been gone?

A couple of hours, Mom.

Acoupleof hours?

Uh, Leah, we'll find him.

[Leah] Oh, my God.

-Oh, I can't believe this. -We'll bring him back soon.

Oh, well, why isn't he answering his phone?!

They'll find him, Leah.

Maybe the storm has affected the cell towers.

Look, I'm telling you guys, I know my brother.

Okay?

He probably just forgot to charge his phone.

It's the kind of stupid thing that Philip would do.

[Reginald coughing]

Oh, Sandra, go get Mr. Reginald some water, baby.

-Please. -Yes, ma'am.

[Leah] It's okay. It's okay. It's okay.

-Shh, shh... -[Reggie clearing throat]

And I have the soup here too, Leah.

Oh, good. Oh, good.

I'll give him some in a minute, okay?

Okay, Leah, we're gonna go find Philip.

Mr. Brown...

please call me when you find him.

You'll be the first one we call.

As soon as I find him, I'll call you.

Uh... [wind gusting]

Uh, Leah! Found him!

Philip!

Baby, what were you doing out in that weather?

What? It was just snow.

Well, we was worried sick about you.

Yeah, I mean, it's a long walk.

Plus, the snow is terrible out there.

Well, why weren't you answering your phone?

We told you to call us as soon as you got there.

-I forgot to charge it. -Told you.

We were just about to go out and look for you.

Who? You two?

Y'all wouldn't have made a block.

I have you to know, we in tip-top shape.

Yeah, okay. Have you seen yourself?

-Wait, is Judge Junie okay? -[Leah] Uh, no, baby.

He's really sick.

Yeah, we're waiting for an ambulance.

An ambulance?

I hope it's not because of how cold it is in here.

Okay, we're gonna go get this generator started

so we can get it warm in here.

Oh, yes, I'll help.

[wind gusting] [Mr. Brown] Ah!

[Reginald hacks]

Oh, it feels so much better in here.

I've stayed on hold with 911.

It's almost impossible to get any updates.

Well, that call center has been jammed.

-Leah. -[Leah] Hmm?

Come and look at Reginald, please.

-[Leah] What is it? -[Anastasia] Hurry.

-He's not breathing! -He's not breathing?

Go get Mr. Brown.

We need to get him on the floor.

-[Cora] Okay... -Mr. Brown! Mr. Efe!

[Mr. Brown] What is it?

-Come on, come on. -What is it?

Mr. Reginald is not breathing.

Not breathing? What do you mean, not breathing?

Look, I need you to get him on the floor.

-Right here, right here. -Get him on the floor.

Yes. Come on.

Okay, I need to start CPR.

-What do we need to do? -I'm gonna start compressions.

Miss Anastasia, when I tell you to,

I need you to pinch his nose

and give him a deep breath, okay?

-You can do this. -[Anastasia] Okay.

Mr. Brown, go get the defibrillator.

[Mr. Brown] Okay.

And everyone else, we need an ambulance here.

Get someone herenow!!!

-[Cora] Oh, God. Oh, Lord. -Okay. One, two, three, four...

five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

Pinch his nose, Miss Anastasia.

Give him a deep breath, okay?

[Vinny]Da da da da da da da! [laughs]

-Whoa! -Whoo-ooh-ee!

What's up, shorty?

-Oh my God. -This is a work of art.

And I don't dance.

It's a mindless, gratuitous behavior.

I used to ride... bike 50 miles a day.

I can do this all day.

[Both] ...speed of sound!

Stronger than an MSTL Army tank!

And more beautiful than a Greek goddess!

It's Dynawoman!!!

I most certainly did.

My bachelor's degree and subsequent juris doctorate

enabled me to practice law, become a judge.

Hit it. Do it like that.

Great news, Efe. The U.S. veep called.

Wants to discuss putting your face on a $3 bill.

And instead of one handsome prince,

I actually have three.

[laughs]

Bing... No, no,

I need to have one more in a row.

Sorry, dear. This is not me.

I'm bored to tears.

That's it.

I'm tired of being treated like vegans in a rib joint.

We're all moving out.

Four score and seven months ago,

I met a guy who was in shambles.

-His name was Vinny. -Oh, hell no.

I'm not gonna sit here-

I knew there was a reason behind that good eatin'.

I could vouch for that.

Before you drop your trousers

and you bend over and, and touch your toes,

make certain that your doctor buys you a proper meal first!

[laughs]

[Mr. Brown] You're not that funny!

[tearfully] I hate you too.
