So this morning,

AUBRY: There's a twist,
and it could change

the trajectory of everything.

We're in the most dangerous part
of the game because

everyone's kind of
at a standoff.

This could throw a wrench
in the whole darn thing.

The sharks were out.

This just set them loose.
There was, like, a little piece

of mesh holding them back.

And the second
that clue was read, the mesh

just popped, and the sharks
were all loose at one time.

And I'm just trying
not to get bitten.

I was out of there
quicker than anybody.

And then I find Aubry,
like a mountain goat,

up to a place that I didn't
think she can get to.

And I'm thinking,

We have no idea what to look for
or what's out there.

We just know that

it's somewhere
in this vast jungle.

I hyperextended my foot,
and I can't hobble fast,

let alone run,

of finding this thing.

whatever this giant twist is.

for what can either be
an adventure of a lifetime

when we were putting together

this season, we had one goal.

We wanted to do our best

to make it memorable.

And in order for something to be
memorable, it's got to be rare.

That's what makes it special.

So we did a couple things
we've never done before.

Twenty-four players-- most ever.
We also

turned the entire show
over to the fans.

They voted for the type of game
they wanted you to play.

And when it came to twists,

63% said, "I love twists.

Bring 'em on."

So today, a twist...
for the fans.

- [laughing]: For the fans.
- PROBST: A twist

so memorable, so rare,

it will cause
the entire Survivor world

to pause and take notice,

because it's never
happened before.

this twist
could use a metaphor,

something to give it
a little shape, a little form.

So we started
by asking ourselves,

"Well, what is it about

"the Survivor experience
that makes it unique

in the first place?"

And that is,
while playing this game,

you live in nature,

you deal with it every day.

The rain, the ocean,
the blazing sun.

And then it dawned on us.

Nature itself offers

a perfect metaphor
for what's gonna happen today.

Because, every so often
in nature,

an event happens that is
so memorable and so rare,

the entire world
pauses to take notice.

That is a total lunar eclipse.

That is when the Earth's shadow
covers the moon

and turns it a deep,

foreboding red.

And we call it a blood moon.

Ancient civilizations

feared a blood moon.

They saw it as a warning.

A sign of upheaval,

even impending doom.

And that's how
you should see it as well.

Because tonight,

Survivor will have
its own version

of a blood moon.

And just like in nature,

it will cast a shadow
over the entire Survivor game.

And it will never
be the same again.

Because tonight, not one...

...not two...

...but three players will

- have their torches snuffed.

you're gonna use

while your feet balance

At regular intervals,
we will move farther down

to a more narrow foothold,
making it more difficult.

And just to make it
a little more dangerous,

we're gonna randomly divide you

into three groups of five.

The person who lasts the longest

with each group earns
individual immunity.

I got to get my crap together.

And I got to be more patient.

Coach is so annoying.

He's pitching you hard.

And he told me that

He's just actively

It's like this really aggressive
form of gameplay, which I guess

you could describe as

being a little bit more akin
to the new era.

But he's so incredibly
obvious about it

that it's like,
"Are you just this oblivious,

"or is this some, like, 3D chess
that you're going on here,

where you want us
to have this perception of you?"

I-I just can't make sense of it.

So here's the thing.

I'm, like, open-minded.
I'm, like, whatever.

- I'm down for whatever
you want to do.

who's just gonna

Obviously, I'm close with Tiff.

a up-and-down relationship.

I've played this entire game
so far with him, but

he was blindsided by the vote

on Cila where
we sent Charlie home.

And so I need to make sure
he's with me.

The truth is, I wanted to come
out here and play different.

And one of the ways I wanted
to play a different game was,

I wanted to have
the right relationships

for these twists,
for this moment.

Everybody's looking at me
right in the eyes, going,

- "I trust you 1,000%."
- Yeah, I know,
but these players--

they'll lie
straight to your face

and swear on their parents.

JONATHAN:
I'm not a liar,
but you have to be

completely fluid in Season 50,

because a lot of people that
just have honor and integrity--

they make it to the final three,
they get maybe one vote.

So you have to do more.

You got to make some sort
of moves in this game to win.

I have a very tough decision
to make,

because what's gonna happen
is there's gonna be

a line drawn in the sand.

I'm gonna be against
a lot of new-school people

if I vote for Kamilla.

- Kamilla.
- You're not writing
my name down, right?

- No. Are you kidding?
- [giggles] Okay, cool, then.

JONATHAN:
If I vote

Chrissy, then all

of the old-school players
are gonna know,

and they're gonna come after me.

- You know I got you.

So no matter how I do this,

it's gonna put a target
on my back in a big way.

There's no easy way
out of this for me.

RICK:
I'm scared to death.

Joe is the safe vote tonight,

but Aubry and Christian really
want to take out Genevieve.

I get it. It makes sense.

What if we put everything
on Genevieve

and she plays
some sort of advantage

or plays her Shot in the Dark?

I'm screwed. Because she's

Tonight, for me, it's not about

or big threats.

It's more so about
trying to dismantle

the group that's forming
that does not include me.

But whatever happens,

I'm cutting off ties

with a lot of people.

The first Tribal Council

the Blood Moon.

You can see it reflected
on the walls of Tribal Council.

It is hovering tonight,

So all the awe

is also a lure

into where death happens.

Tiff, we said there's gonna be

a Survivor version of a
blood moon, and it's happening.

This is nuts, Jeff.

I feel like I'm in the middle

of one of my video games
that I play.

This is crazy.
And ironically,

one of my favorite video games
has a blood moon.

When the blood moon happens,

all the monsters
that you've already killed

come back out of the ground,

and then they come
to, like, kill you.

So, I have never seen anything
like this in my life, Jeff.

- I'm shooken.
- This is friggin' cool.

- PROBST: All right, so, Tiff,

after Applebee's,

you get to go back
to your regular camp

and try to figure out
who to vote out.

So, what was the vibe?

Well, for me, personally,

I'm always gonna keep it real.

Everybody's gonna know
what's on my mind,

and I'm gonna shoot straight,
and that's what I did

at every conversation
that I had,

because there's only five of us.

I don't feel like I need to pull
no tricks out the bag tonight.

Kamilla, if you're at home,

of the Blood Moon--

is the wise move in terms

of this being an opportunity

to get the game heading in
the direction you want it to go?

I think the best move
for people tonight

is to find a group
that they can

navigate
this massive merge with.

Talk to the other people,
figure out

who they're cool with,
who are you cool with, and then,

go with the people
who you feel

like you have
a path forward with.

where's the opportunity
in this massive twist?

Well, Mr. Jeff,
this is the Blood Moon,

and I think it's a great time

to draw a line in the sand

and figure out
where people stand.

And just to add on
to what Jonathan said,

but I also feel
it's very important to remember,

For me, I'm just thinking,

And so this Blood Moon night
is huge for me 'cause this is

the one night
I want to survive real bad.

Chrissy, how do you
compartmentalize that?

Not from a strategy standpoint,

just from a player to player?

"I'm sorry, but you're not gonna

have a say
in who wins this game."

CHRISSY:
I think a lot of us
came out of our first

seasons with scars.

And so, yes, we all want
to make it to the jury.

But in some sense, coming to 50

was a celebratory season,

and has given us all redemption.

- Mm.
- So, I think there's a lot

of other beautiful things
about being on 50, too.

PROBST:
Jonathan, how do you process it,

knowing one of those torches
will be snuffed soon,

and the dream
of winning Survivor 50

is over?

JONATHAN:
That's the thing, Mr. Jeff.

It's always in the back
of our mind: one more day.

You don't want to go home
and be kicking yourself

for something
you did or didn't do.

But it's hard, Mr. Jeff.

And sometimes it doesn't feel
like a celebration.

It feels like chaos.

PROBST:
Well, you say it's not
celebration, it's chaos.

I would say

is that

it's exactly the same
for three groups,

but the people
and the dynamics are all unique.

So what, from your standpoint,

is most impactful
about this twist?

Yeah, I think the people

are everything in the group.

And so, what's gonna
be most impactful is

what color rock did you draw

and did your friends draw
the same color that you did?

Aubry, is it really that simple

that sometimes it's just
the timing and Survivor luck,

and that can be
the end of your game?

Yeah, I think Survivor
is a lot about luck.

But you earn it.
And I think part of earning it

is making sure that
you have friends

and making sure that
you are receptive to people

and that you don't
close any doors.

PROBST:
Christian, what Aubry's
talking about is that

more than anything
in the game of Survivor,

it is about relationships.

CHRISTIAN:
I mean, it-it's true. You...

you have these relationships
you've built

over the course of this season.

And, really, they get
put to the test here

because we're in
such a tiny group.

And, I mean, seriously,
I'm glad I'm wearing immunity.

Otherwise, I worried
I'd be applewood-smoked.

Joe, what do you think
is most significant

about tonight?
Because there's a lot going on.

What stands out to you?

I mean, Jeff,
we're making history here

with three Tribal Councils,
three people going home.

And we're tired
and we're fatigued

and we're hungry.

And there's so much emotion
in the game.

I'm trying
to compartmentalize each one

of those massively
impactful things

that we just got punched
in the face with,

so we can all try
to make the best decision.

PROBST:
Genevieve, there's a strategic
component to the fact

that the three people voted out
tonight will not be on the jury.

If there's somebody
you don't want on the jury

'cause you don't think
they'll vote for you,

great opportunity
to take 'em out tonight.

GENEVIEVE:
Yeah, I think if you have

the luxury of having the numbers
to make that decision,

that would be a strategic way
to play it. But I think,

for some of us,
it's just survive.

Are you talking about yourself?

I think there's definitely
lots of people

who are voting
for Genevieve tonight.

Part of it is
I'm not the type of player

who's number one with everyone.

I'm not, and there's a range

of, "Okay, we can work together
short-term," and there's...

and there's the extreme end
of the spectrum

of, "Okay, we just
can never fit."

But sometimes
you know that people

are working together,
and there are underlying

webs of relationships

and advantages that

flow between different people
in a small group.

PROBST:
Wow.

There was a whole lot there.

So, Devens, concern

that if you all
have played a game

in which Genevieve
is telling the truth

and she believes
it's her tonight,

she might play
a Shot in the Dark

or an advantage
or an idol or something else?

Absolutely.
We only hear what she's saying,

and we don't know what she has.

Maybe this is the best
smoke screen I've ever seen.

You know? So, yeah, you can
listen and listen and listen,

but if you're not

picking up the right thing,

you could be totally blindsided.

PROBST:
And Devens, you can't get around

the fact
that whoever's voted out tonight

won't have a say
in who wins this game.

It doesn't mean that it wasn't
important you were here,

but you don't get your stamp
on the season.

for as long

and you want to be
as big a part of it as you can.

riding a bike in the sense
that you're right back in,

or do you feel like
you might be out of practice?

COACH:
For me, in the past,
Tribal Council

has been a little bit joyous.

It's like going to a wedding.

And you get on your rings
and your jewelry,

maybe a few feathers
in the hair.

But tonight, it feels
a little bit different.

I really feel the gravity of it.

It's like a red wedding tonight.

PROBST:
Colby, been a long time

- for you, as well.
- COLBY: Jeff, the...

the smell of the torches--

it all just comes back
immediately.

For me, it's riding a bike.

I love what you've done
with the place, by the way.

[laughing]

PROBST:
Colby, it's interesting because

the first time you played, you
made it all the way to the end.

So your bar has been very high
from the first time you played.

And now we're talking
about the fact

that somebody here
will not make the jury.

COLBY:
You're right. The bar was set

a quarter of a century ago--
for me, my personal bar--

and I haven't lived up to that
in the two times prior.

This one was a little different
coming out here,

but the expectation
was the same.

I still wanted to compete
at the same level

and-and make it
as far as I could.

Um, you know,

I've got a target
painted on me tonight.

Really?

COLBY:
Yeah. I mean, look,

I don't have a vote tonight,
and-and because

I don't have a vote
and lost that,

that also means I don't have
a Shot in the Dark.

So, it's really easy

to just
take that person out, right?

But even with the highs
and lows, the foot injury,

you know, here we are,
13 days in.

I've had more fun this time
than all

- of the other three experiences.
- Wow.

Emily, it's really interesting.

Because the game is so complex

and everybody here is so good,

Colby could be telling the truth

that he believes
he's going home,

and still, the four of you
who are about to vote

aren't really sure
if he's going home.

Yeah, I mean,
despite how straightforward

I think some people
view this vote,

you know,
season 50 has taught me

a lot of things.
One of which is expect

the unexpected.
And so I'm not

willing to bet the farm on that.

CIRIE:
Jeff,

it ain't over
till the fat lady sings,

Jeff, and I haven't heard
any singing yet,

- so...
- COLBY: This is making me think

I might actually have a shot.

PROBST:
You know, Colby,
I'm gonna circle back.

You said you had

Why?
What's different?

I came into it with
a completely different attitude

and, um, a set of goals for me.

There are certainly days
that suck,

especially when you're injured,
and you don't have a vote.

Um, but I chose to...

to find the joy in it.

I mean, half of my life,
Jeff, has transpired

since the first time I played.
Half of my life.

- Wow.
- Jeff, I'm in my 50s now,

and they say this is the decade
of reflection.

That's truly it. I've...

I've reflected on my life

and how Survivor has

woven through so much of it.

And so many people
in my sphere--

not by one degree
of separation--

but I can connect them
back to Survivor.

Survivor has introduced me
to so many people in my life

that I love and care about.

And, again, I met people

in this experience that I know
I'm gonna be friends

for life with.

And I just... I-I just...

um...

...I just appreciate
the opportunity

to come back one more time.

PROBST:
You know, Colby,
as you were talking,

this is what was
going through my mind.

Emily and Dee would not be here

without you, Cirie and Coach.

You are three
of the true icons of Survivor.

There's no disputing that.

So I'm listening to you,

and I'm remembering you
25 years ago.

Dee, how old were you
when Colby first played,

25 years ago?

- Three. [laughs]
- Three years old. [laughs]

PROBST:
You were three

when he was out doing this.

DEE:
Like you said,

Cirie, Colby, and Coach have

paved the path
for the new-era players.

Like, we wouldn't
be here without them.

PROBST:
Cirie, you played

more days than anybody out here.

So, to hear this talk of legacy,

what are you thinking about?

You know, it's weird, Jeff.

For me, it was 20 years ago,

and I had zero expectation.

I didn't know that I would

pave the way for anybody.

So, I'm honored that

people look up to me

and think that I have, um,

laid a path for them

or-or started a legacy for them.

So, like Colby, I, too,

am, like, so honored

to be thought of in that way.

So, I know exactly how he feels.

[clears throat]

- But it's a game.
- It's a game.

And the game must go on.

It's a game.

PROBST:
Coach, you always have

some wisdom
from the Dragon Slayer.

What are you feeling right now?

COACH:
I think this has been
a great journey

for a lot of the older players,

because we see that...

you know, we see that
we're revered

in some way or another.

And the reason why

I've come out here
time and time again is

I just want to inspire somebody.

If it's one person,
three people, a tribe,

and I'm humbled to...

to hear people say that

we have left a legacy

and made our mark.

And so, to quote, uh,
an ancient samurai proverb,

you know, we make war tonight

with a pure and clean heart.

There's no malice here,
there's no...

betrayal.

We're here with clean hearts.

Dee, what's the emotion for you?

I'm just battling
with my decisions.

Cirie, Colby and Coach

haven't been back in so long.

And to know that somebody's
not making the jury,

they don't even
have a say on 50,

it's, like, really sad
because it comes

with a lot of feelings of guilt.

And it does also

come down to the rawness

and how rare it is in this game.

When you truly feel--

not even say it, when you

feel somebody's words--

that's how you know,
"Oh, my God.

Like, these people might be
in my life forever."
