If I've decided to write these
memoirs it's because, deep in my heart,

I hold the remote hope that
one day a curious reader

will be able to understand me,

or perhaps with the yearning to do

My father was the humble verger
of a parish in the Aurora valley

Thanks to the parish priest, my father
acquired for myself and my three sisters

a painstaking Christian education

A few kilometers from my
town was the Loyola basilica,

cradle of Saint Ignatius and
sacred sanctuary of the Jesuits

I admired the Jesuits since childhood,
