it's like reading an old diary.

Well, we don't have to pretend that you
haven't seen embarrassing things about

me on the internet. So, you know, there
are certain songs that the fans are like

fighting to be heard. And some of those
include The Girl Can Rock,

The Math, some real deep cuts that I
don't know if I can embody

anymore.

Honestly, I've had so much fun going
back into my catalog and being like, I

Have you observed anything interesting
about the day -to -day life of chickens

tending to a coop in your backyard?

Like, how would you describe their world
as an outsider looking in?

They are simple creatures.

It's surprising to me how many people
don't know that if you don't have a

rooster, you still get eggs.

The eggs aren't fertilized if the
rooster is not there.

But the chicken lays an egg almost every
day.

So we don't have a rooster. It's
actually illegal where I live to have a

surprised to learn that you're actually

a New York Times bestselling author,
having published a supernatural trilogy

young adults. Yeah. I'm curious what
your bookshelf looked like when you were

the age of your target reader. Like,
were there authors or... Twilight.

It was the absolute inspiration.

What's happening?

It was like Lizzie McGuire for people
for me. Like, you were just, like, at

point in your life, and you were like,
yes!

Somebody speaking exactly to me,
directly to me. Yeah.

As an actress, when you create a series
like that, is the idea of adapting it

into a TV or movie exciting, or would
that puncture the fantasy or your intent

in some way? I think that is always, at
least for me, because I am an actress,

and, like, mostly a TV actress, like, my
mind goes TV show.

And not like, no.

I definitely would probably love to
still produce a show like that. I don't

if I would be in it.

But there's just not enough time right
now for me. You're busy.

gauntlet. The accolades keep piling up

kid milestones that you experienced
vicariously through your character?

happening in my life as well.

Social dynamics and stuff within my
friend group outside of work.

her style or not quite fitting in

anywhere. And I also kind of resonate
with that. I feel like a very big

dork dressed in a cool girl's outfit a
lot of the time.

The fact that I have many, many memories
of being at TRL is a part of my

personality. There would be the same

TRL charts for, like, weeks after weeks
after weeks after weeks. And can you

imagine kids dealing with that kind of
length?

They'd be like, turn it over. Like,
more, more, faster, more, less of, like,

same. Like, you know, now it's just
this. So, like, there's definitely,

part of me that's just a little slowed
down and, like, likes living in that

of my past and being old.

But also, like, loving a TikTok trend.

will. They're dear friends of mine. And

could get it back on its feet.

of the teal hair?

Well, one, do you know how hard this
hair color is to keep up?

Believe it or not, I have no idea.

You have to bleach your hair, first of
all.

Terrible for your hair.

And then you have to constantly put
color in your conditioner and keep up

that. Masks constantly.

Like, annoying. Why did I need to do

I had a baby during COVID like everybody
else.

I dyed my own hair at home, almost that
color. Gave birth with blue hair.

How are we feeling?

Horrible. But it does seem like... I

lowlight of living in the Oakwood

apartments? It's kind of amazing how
many people I've interviewed on this

who've once held a lease there.

Outside of the Oakwood apartment?

Yeah. And I was like, that's no doubt.

But really weird things would happen
there.

The highlight was that I got to be
really free. Like, I'm a kid from Texas,

like, I lived outdoors basically my
whole life.

And the Oakwood Apartments, not that
there's not probably threats there, but

it's, like, this big gated complex.

And my friends and I would, like, build
forts and have, like, hideouts. And we

had a pager.

Before I had my cell phone, we had a
pager, and my mom would just be like,

dinner's ready, come home.

Didn't you have, like, a scooter gang
you were running? I had a scooter gang,

But there's, like, a part of my
childhood that, like, I don't think

anymore for our kids. Like, toilet paper
in a house? Like, I don't think those
