- Our friend Fran is
doing a bike with us

to bring awareness
to an organization

that deals with
animals and veterans.

kind of making the sidecar?

So, in typical OCC fashion,
we just finished a bike

and we got started on
the next one already.

And our friend Fran, who we've
known for quite some time

since we've been
down here in Florida,

is doing a bike with
us to bring awareness

to an organization
that deals with animals

and veterans and PTSD.

Paul's got some cool ideas
for it and some cool colors.

So I'm looking forward
to working on this one.

What's going on?

- He wonders why I don't
want him to drive my truck.

Did anybody else happen to
notice that he jumped the curb?

- So I was like, well,
half winter, half Florida

and we're in winter in
Florida right now anyway.

and I have goosebumps.

- No matter where Fran goes,

she brings an energy
that is unmatched.

- So, you guys, I have
two friends with me today,

they're very special to me.

George Colella is a 9/11
survivor, very close friend.

Patrick Bradley, a Vietnam vet.

We've done a lot
of things together.

Patrick works with
rescue animals,

specifically birds of prey
to help veterans with PTSD.

And George, the president of
our motorcycle group here,

he's helped us in Tallahassee.

We go up there at least
a few times a year

to advocate for bikers rights,

and nothing brings joy,
I feel like, to everyone,

than rescue animals.

[Joannie] I totally agree.

- It's necessary.

- That's a good way,
I agree with you.

- Get veterans and we
put a bird on their arm

and send 'em for a
walk in the park.

- Like, could there
be eagle wings,

kind of making the sidecar
and have the eagle come,

and the eagle can come in here?

- Yeah.
- You know?

- Oh, it's a big boy.
- I'll put it on the table.

- Oh, okay.
- Oh, wow.

- Let me move out the way.

- I mean, you could
probably make something cool

off the handle bars,

so that the bird could be on
the handle bars, you know?

Make something that
could come off or on,

but something cool, you know?

- Yeah, make the bars the perch.

- [Fran] I love that idea.

- Or off of the bars,
one or with two.

Every time I build a
bike it's, you know,

I start out in a
certain direction

but it never goes that way.

- Of course not, change
is part of the process.

I know that from you, come on.
- Yeah.

- You know you're gonna
eventually pull this,

put the two together.
- That's right.

- Gotta make sure it's
safe for you and the animal

and whoever else is riding it.

- He always does that.

- [Jim] That tells
the story really well.

I think she should go close

So, she's a bird that
loves to come close to you

and give what we
call Thunder hugs.

She'll wrap her wing
around you for a hug.

[Fran] Paul And Joannie and I
have so much in common,

the way we love the animals.

For me to have this
opportunity for him

to build a bike for me,

I can't wait to see
what he has in store.

- I'm excited about it,
but I think you'll have

a whole lot of things
coming together here.

So, you have the
love of animals.

Fran rides, so she
wants it to be rideable.

I think this bike
is gonna present

some pretty
significant challenges,

but I'm looking forward to it.

(upbeat music)

- Bike number five.

So, really the term
"chopper" is really

chopping up your bike, you know.

Back in the day,
people had stock Harleys

and, uh,
to customize 'em, you know.

You'd be cutting the necks off
or stretching the down tubes

or cutting a fender,
you know, and basically,

that's what a chopper is.

(upbeat music)

[Paul Sr continues]
Today we're gonna
continue the Eagle bike.

We left off with
the rear fender.

[cough]

We're putting a tire on here
that's not the right tire.

It's a bigger tire
in height and width.

But the hubs are the same,
so able to line it up

with the transmission so
that I could adjust the wheel

where it's gotta be
and mount the defender

and also be able
to mount the chain.

But we still got
the exhaust to do.

We gotta mount the gas tank.

The front end's gotta be
put together and put on.

So, there's quite a bit of work,

that's why I'm bringing in Drew.

There's no shortage
of things to do.

- So, Kace's been here working
on the mural on the wall

that Paul commissioned her for.

So, it's great to see the
transition of a blank wall

come into a a completed thing,

which we're in the middle
stages of right now.

The idea's amazing. What
she's painting looks great.

The colors are popping and
definitely a representative

of Paul and his love of
music in the seventies.

So, I think it's gonna
turn out to be a really

(bleep) piece of artwork.

- [Paul Sr]
We built the bar like
that over there, right?

And then she made the
bird come back like that.

And it looks like it's
almost blowing in the wind.

- That looks cool. It's
different than we were thinking.

We were thinking the feather's
built into the frame.

But that's cool.
- Yeah.

- We have to remember, we
still have to make a perch

for the bird, real
bird to sit on.

- We're gonna do that
off the handlebar.

- And I was thinking about
that and you're correct,

that's what we were planning.

But when you tilt
the bars like this,

the perch isn't gonna
be straight anymore.

You have to keep
the tire straight.

- Yes.
- Yeah.

- Yeah, you'll have to
keep the tire straight.

- Yep. Just, so-
- I mean the bird-

Yeah, I mean that bird
could hang any way it wants,

but yeah, you would want to
keep it straight, you know?

- And she thinks you can
knock that out in the time

you gave her?
- I don't know.

Like, we have to look at
what is a perch for an eagle,

'cause I'd looked it
up and it was like,

almost like a two by four.

I came across Jen, we
started going back and forth

a little bit, and as we
were doing the shows,

I couldn't, like
nothing seemed to fit.

We decided this is a
perfect time for Jen

and that's how we brought
Jen in the Eagle bike.

Yeah.

- Is it gonna have like the
wings kind of spreading out

and all that or-
- I think it's gonna come,

I think if it looks
like that, it'll be cool

because it'll look like it's-

- Flying.
- You know,

it'll look pretty
cool, you know.

- Yeah.
- All right, let's go.

Let's put the motor in.
- Right now?

- Yeah. Sound good?

- Hey, day three or four
working on the Eagle bike.

Things went pretty well today.

Drew came in, has been helping
us with the rear fender

and the struts and he is
now working on the exhaust.

I think it's going
well. No hiccups yet.

Tomorrow we're gonna
take the fender off,

bring it over to Anthony
who's gonna work on a perch

we're doing for a special
piece of metal art

that's going on the back of it.

I think we'll get this one done,

at least fabrication on time.

That way we can get out
to paint and powdercoat

and move on to the next one.

- What are you?

- Mike is the ED now.

So, we decided to come over
to Anthony's this morning

because he's got the
equipment that, that we need

to complete the rear fender
and he doesn't know it

but I'm gonna have
him do a couple

other things while we're here.

But yeah, so we're gonna just
grab a hold of the fender

and a few other things and
go over it with Anthony

and start rolling the perch.

I guess you'd call it
perch with the rear fender

and go from there.

- That look cool?
- Yeah, that's perfect.

- [Anthony] Pretty much
straight from there, and then-

- [Paul] Then I could cut
wherever I want right here.

You done it again
Anthony. We love you.

- Okay, I'll get you
one for Christmas.

- Or maybe your birthday.

- Paul brought me a fender

and then we ended up cutting a
piece, an inch-and-a-quarter.

We ring-rolled it,
capped the ends

and then mounted
it to the fender,

and then from there we made
some handlebars real quick.

We bent 'em in
our mandrel bender

and then made a simple drag
bar so when he gets back

to the shop he could fit it
all together and go from there.

- [Paul Sr]
The piece turned out good.
It's exactly what we wanted.

It really helps keep
us ahead of the game,

'cause if we had to do
it would take forever.

Now back to the shop so I
could yell at Drew a little bit

to get these bars and
everything finished.

- Yeah, I got it.

- Yeah, we'll have
to get it normal.

- Yeah, I think you'll
be fine there, right?

- Hmm-mm.

Take the fender off.

I was just thinking we gotta
bend that a little more.

- Go with the saw and cut
that right off over there.

I guess I learn new
stuff every day.

- I don't know if this

putting that fender on first.

- So, we're just jumping a
hole, like reusing this too

and put one over here.

ready to get prepped.

He's shooting
everything tonight.

As soon as Drew has a
second and fills that hole,

I'll bring that
back over to him.

We'll have that all tomorrow.

- I drew a line on
there where I thought

that perch should have been,

I don't know whether we
just moved it up further

or whatever, but it's
in the wrong spot.

So, what we're just gonna do
is we're gonna shift it back

a hole and that seems to work.

I had to make a little
special tool for that.

We had to waste one
of our Sharpies,

but we were able
to get in there,

make enough circle in
there to get the center

and center punch it, so...

- Well, this is a custom shop.
- Yeah.

- You gotta have
custom Sharpies.

- Well, everything's
a one-off in here.

- Yeah.
- Right, kiddo?

- It's not like we don't
leave 'em sitting around

with the caps off every day,

so we have to throw
'em out tomorrow.

- [Paul] Yeah, exactly.

- My boy over there is
finishing up the handle bars.

So, I think that when
the trees come in,

we'll mount that stuff,
get the front end lined up,

put the brakes on and
all that kind of stuff.

We gotta mount the seat, we
still gotta mount the gas tank,

but hopefully we pretty much
have to get it done today

to really start
the next project.

Christian will be in
tomorrow, and so will Mikey,

so that'll be a huge help.

- I'm just gonna
tack this together.

the width of the bars.

It's looking pretty cool.

- I think it's still

- Yeah, I think it's a
little wide, some spreading.

Plus Fran's gonna
be riding it, right?

I would go a little bit narrow.

- Take an inch of off of this?

- Yeah.
- Can you? And still be, yeah.

this under the table

so you can set the
angle that you want.

So, I set it at 30 degrees to
match the rake of the frame.

So, yeah, that
kind of worked out.

I didn't have to make anything.

I wish I would've known
about that weeks ago,

to be honest with you.

That would've helped me out.

- I think Drew's almost
done with the bars.

Going to put the front end
together, line all that up.

The rear tire, the
right rear tire,

we gotta put the spacers
in caliper, the seat pan.

And we're pretty
much ready to go.

So, unless something
else comes up,

I think we're still kind
of pretty much on target.

we had a pretty good day today.

This pan's taking a little
bit longer than I expected,

for powdercoat

separate everything

I went and got my
welding ticket.

When I had my daughter,
I bought a little welder

and I started just making
whatever would come to mind.

I started welding in our
single-car garage at home.

a trip coming back here,

working on choppers again,
putting bikes together.

Especially working with Paul.

And I've known Jim for
a lot of years too.

know, when you're done with

the roll of toilet
paper, the tube?

keep it from tilting

when you put the
front end on it.

something on it.

- So, SMT sent us
some really nice rims.

These are gonna look awesome.

Nice chrome, got a nice design
to it. They match everything.

They put the hubs on
that we asked for,

so they do a really good job.

They get 'em to us quick
with our short cutoffs

and deadlines, they're
still able to meet our needs

and they're just great.

Their customer
service is awesome.

When we call 'em,
they ship 'em out

as soon as they get 'em done.

And yeah, we're super
happy with them.

- The hardware is
nice, you know?

The mounting hardware on the
sprocket, you know what I mean?

They use 12 point
bolts for front.

- [Jim] Yeah. The chrome
is just phenomenal

and so is your powdercoating.

(machine whirring)

- Pull it up and
push it forward.

- Push the whole mechanism
forward while you're...

- How's it going?

- Yeah, good. Good,
still working.

Still working. I'm sure

a 21-hour day yesterday.

the 21-hour days anymore.

- It's coming along

So, what else you
gotta do to it?

- Well, I made some
feathers last night.

- Put some feathers on
that bird, it looks naked.

- I know, so I'm gonna detail
all of these individually,

these smaller ones.

- How'd you cut them?
- All by hand.

- Did you really?
- I did.

Well, my CNC is
not in this shop.

- What's our plan, though?

- So, I'm gonna finish putting
all the feathers on today.

I'll probably be pretty close
by tonight to finishing this

and then tomorrow morning I'm
just gonna spend the morning

just doing the little details.

But I'll be done by
tomorrow afternoon.

- So you'll be here when?

- We're gonna fly
up Friday night.

Yeah, so we're gonna
wrap it up now.

We probably started on
this around two o'clock

or something like
that this afternoon.

But we did it good. We got
the whole roller together.

The rear bike, rear calipers
are on, everything's,

all the axle spaces are on.

Everything's centered out.

We have the front brake on,
the full front end on there.

We got the motor in
which I think that we,

we didn't really have
a lot of problems.

Of course, we had the tire
off and on a few times,

but that's just
par for the course.

So, tomorrow we'll
get back on it.

Christian's gonna be wiring,

we'll probably be
working on either putting

the primary together
or putting a chain on,

and we're waiting on the bird.

Yeah, so I got in a little
early today for a change

and Christian was
already working on the
wiring on the bike.

We found like one issue.

We had to open up the
holes a little bit

on the motor mounts,
so that's done.

So, we're gonna put
the trans in now.

Try to line up, see how
the primary line's up

and get the chain on there
and then go from there.

I mean, if we get a
good day in today,

we could probably
be almost finished.

(rock music)

- This is red, these are orange.

Definitely, it's a different...

Look at the difference.

You can see it before
even unwrapping it.

- I can see, I can see
where too much red was,

oh, for the primary stuff?
- Yeah.

- So we've been
working with Talon

and the people from CQ
for a couple months now.

They're right up the road.

They're really great people

and they turn the stuff
around for us really quick.

We bring 'em a lot
of stuff last minute

and they don't hesitate
or struggle to get it done

and back to us.

- So I'm just here
for a couple days,

gotta head back to New York.

But I got going on the
wiring on Fran's Eagle bike.

Just got everything
as much as I could.

Everything pretty much where
just the ends had to be,

you know, connected,
soldered, finished.

So, I kind of left, I drew a
diagram and hope for the best.

Fingers crossed, I told 'em
they could call me, though.

- Yeah, so it was kind of a
crazy day today, you know.

The powder coater,
which probably we
should have told him,

but he powder coated where
the controls go on there

and we had to sand
all that down,

which is kind of
a pain in the ass.

Where I thought that the
taillight bracket was gonna be

and still look all right,
doesn't look good at all.

And, of course,
the bike is painted

so you can't really
weld any tabs on there.

So, I don't know. You know,
tomorrow's another day.

I did figure that we would
be a little bit further ahead

than we are now, and then,
you know, even tomorrow

there's certain things that
we're gonna have to figure out

to make work, I guess.

It's probably time to walk away

and get a fresh start tomorrow.

Kind of like all the way
through the whole build

there was just issues.

waiting outside
the shop and I'm,

I know in my head now,

it is coming to
terms with the fact

They still needed
the fender on Friday.

So then we got together,
figured out a new plan

and I ended up bringing the
half done piece up here.

Do you like the color?

- I like it. I like it a lot.

- Where's the bar?

- So, there's one and then
it's gonna have claws.

And I have the bar.
I have the bar here.

- That mounts to the fender?

- Yes, sir.

- So, I have claws.

They're already
welded and sculpted.

So, I'm gonna weld the claws on,

we'll mount it to the bar.

I thought if we could bolt
the bar onto the fender-

- I gotta be honest with you.
- Yeah?

- This bird looks 10 times
bigger on the pictures.

- Yeah.
- I was, like, holy (bleep)

we're gonna have to go
on a wide lane highway.

- Something like that.

- Oh, that's crazy.

That's crazy, man.

- But it's gonna be up on the-

- Something beyond my realm.

Like, you know, she's an artist

and to see it in person, it's
really impressive, her skill.

- He's sitting more
or less like that,

but it'll connect
to this, right?

- Well, the bar it's mounted
on that plate, right,

it goes up and sits across.
- Right.

- And then the talons are,
like, grabbing on to her

like we talked about.

- Jen probably spent almost
24 hours a day for five days

to get it done.

That says all about someone.

(energetic instrumental music)

- Start with the head,

build the frame,

and now we're just covering
it all with feathers.

So, we've been cutting feathers

for the past four days straight.

20, 21 hour days,

'cause you can cut 'em but
then we gotta clean 'em all

and then, you know, I gotta
detail 'em a little bit.

So, it's all a process,
but we are so close.

- Listen, I think it's
a great opportunity,

this great opportunity
to bring people in

that are such talented,

to give them the
opportunity that I had,

and the recognition
that they deserve.

- So, we just got
done with the day.

It's been a very busy day.

There's a lot going
on outside the shop,

but a lot going on
inside the shop.

Started working on
the bike this morning,

was moving along great

and Jen showed up with Sean,

start working on
artwork for this.

- I was planning to have
this done at my shop

the day before.

We're gonna pull a
light one tonight

and get this thing all
ready for tomorrow.

- Wow. Ooh.
- I'm gonna paint-

- My eagle air over
this thing, man.

gotta bring it to Anthony's.

- Yeah.

Let me go back in and
get everything ready.

-[Mikey] I didn't expect the
bird to be so heavy.

I thought it'd be,
like, 15 pounds.

It was more like 50.

And I was gonna put it up
like a parrot or something

and joke around,

but it's a little too heavy
and it's a little too early.

- Yes.
- We got it done.

- Parts are missing again.

This sprocket we need
for the transmission

to button up the whole primary,

but Mikey Teutul was here
today, made his presence.

So, that's always
a morale booster.

Yeah, we got another bike

we gotta put up on
the lift this week

and finish this up.

So, that's about where we're at.

- How's it going in here?

- It is going fantabulous.

- And your chain's
still real tight?

- It's probably right just
about where it should be.

- That's the way
it's supposed to be.

- Oh, Mike use the break.

We got it. We already
checked it, Jim and I.

- Jim and I?

- We had it together with
the primary on, I believe.

- Did you ream out the
transmission or just the motor?

- It's running crooked.

You all right? You
look a little tired.

Waiting for that coffee, right?

It perked you right
up there earlier.

You get a little perky?

- Yeah, when I leave
here I do worry that,

you know, there's gonna
be nobody delegating.

My father's a bit aloof

and I think everybody
else who works for him

wants to kill him.

So, I'm sort of like the bridge,

you know, the ladder there.

I imagine the place is probably
gonna go to hell without me.

- Well, Paul's kinda like me.

He don't have much to say.

I don't like to talk too much.

We get along.

We don't have to
have a conversation,

we can just do what we
gotta do and get it done.

-[Paul Sr] Yeah, I think what
we're gonna do today

is we gotta get these Struts
sent back to Anthony's.

He's gonna clean them up.

We gotta get 'em back
to the powder coater.

Al's gotta finish the wiring.

I gotta put the cables on,

the oil lines gotta go on,

the front brake gotta be bled.

If things go smooth

we should be able to
accomplish all that stuff.

(energetic instrumental music)

- So, Jim from Jim's Just in
Time Leather did the seat.

It's a different color
leather than we usually use.

We usually dark but Paul
wanted something tan

to go with the candy red,

and it looks great.

(energetic instrumental music)

- My suggestion would be
let's get the cables on here

and bring that over
to the powder coater

and let him do that in red too.

And he's gonna have-
- Well, lemme do it now

'cause if he's spraying those-
- Yeah.

I mean we don't
need it now, right?

- No, but he has
to empty the gun

and clean the system every
time he changes his colors.

- Right. It would look much
better, blend much better.

-Right?
- Yeah.

- Lot of (bleep) wires, Al.
- Yeah,

they (bleep) me in the (bleep).
- [Paul] Huh?

[bleep]

- Christian was in before
me and he did half of it

and I came in and
finished it up.

You know, it is a little tough

when somebody starts something

and you gotta pick
up afterwards.

(energetic instrumental music)

- Yeah, I've known Alan
for a bunch of years now.

He spent a lot of time at OCC.

Take his, you know, his
shirt off his back for you

kind of guy,
and just like, no nonsense.

Let's work, let's get
this done, whatever it is

I'll stay here till four in
the morning, I don't care

kind of guy.

- A lot of wiring.

You know, it's a bike that
somebody's gonna ride,

so you got, you know,
you got your blinkers,

you got your horn,
you got everything

that a regular bike would have.

Not a cut up chopper,

where you're only running
a headlight with two wires.

(energetic instrumental music)

So, hiding it all in the
headlight, small headlight,

Paul wanted the small headlight,

so it was tough stuffing
all that in there.

10 pounds in a five pound box.

So, it all worked
out in the end.

- And, kind of, all the
way through the whole build

there was just issues.

Issue after issue that
we had to deal with.

But you know what, we dealt
with 'em one at a time.

You know, everybody
was in the game

and we dealt with 'em
all and, you know,

we fixed it and finished it.

It took me a while to
figure out what to do here,

you know?
- This is gorgeous.

This is our bike.

- We're gonna unveil
the bird bike,

take it out for a test
ride just to see how it is,

and then we're gonna
get it loaded up

and it should be a good day.

You pulled it off.
- Well, we'll see.

That looks real good.

- [Alan] Yeah.
- [Paul] Yeah,

you won't notice the difference.

- That's good. Not bad at all.
- Beautiful. Yeah.

- Good.
- Good deal.

- Oh, that looks sharp.
- Like, right here,

very close to the frame too.

- [Paul] No, you did a good job.

I love the color.

You could never go wrong
with candy apple red, man.

- That's right.

- Well, let's take
this off of here.

I gotta see what it does.

(engine revving)

So, all the issues,
all the hard work,

bike fired right up.

Took it out for a little ride.

Brakes were perfect.

Clutch was perfect.

Loaded it on the trailer and
we on our way over there.

- It ran perfect,
started right up

Sounds great, looks amazing.

So, we're gonna get
it on the trailer,

head on over and we're
gonna have an amazing reveal

and I think it's gonna
be another OCC great.

- You could not have
asked for a better reveal

than the reveal at Fran,

because the energy
that Fran has,

and it's contagious to
everyone around her.

Fran and all that she
does in this community

that this many people
would come out.

And I think we all know
that Fran is amazing

in her support of
veterans and animals,

and I can't think of two
better things to support.

(audience applauding)

tell you about the bike.

[Paul Sr] So, you know, first of
all, we love this lady.

Everybody loves her.

Everybody evidently does, yeah.

So when she asked
us to do this bike,

it was kind of like,
I couldn't really,

it took me a while to
figure out what to do here.

You know?
- This is gorgeous.

This is our bike, because
this is our biker community.

We've been doing this
together since we started

and I'm grateful for all of
you coming out here today.

This is incredible turnout.

You, Paul, and Joannie, and
Jim and your entire crew,

you guys are amazing.

Your production crew
has been wonderful.

We've had a really
great time doing this.

- Unbelievable.

Like, surpassed what
I thought it would be.

I wasn't exactly
sure what to expect.

I started hearing
about the metal work,

everything else that
was gonna go into it,

but the perch on the
rear, it's awesome.

It's an amazing bike.

- I feel like I'm living
the American dream.

I can't believe that
I'm sitting here today

with this gorgeous bike.

My favorite color.
This is amazing.

The eagle can perch up here.

So, you're gonna see
me at all the events

and you're gonna
see this bike a lot.

It's absolutely

for the community

and pretty much everywhere.

The veterans especially.

It was pretty cool
driving in with the bird.

It's something that's
very, very different

and it took a while to get
the creative juices going

to do something like that.

it, and I thank Jen.

Jen really pulled it off.

- You know, she does so
much for the community,

not just the
motorcycle community,

the animal community,
the veterans.

I mean, she just
never stops giving.

The whole crowd seemed
to really appreciate

the artwork on the bike.

So, can't ask for
any more than today.

- I am so proud of Paul

and the entire Orange
County Chopper Crew

that all these years later,

they're still pumping
out awesome bikes.

Like, how many different twists

can you make on a motorcycle?

I thought they did it all,

and then I see this and say,
"Oh, there's something new."

So, really happy for Paul

and really happy for the
Fran Haasch Law Group

'cause they're great
people and very deserving.

- So, the job that you guys did,

with Orange County Chopper
putting this bike together,

and specifically for this
person who loves motorcycles,

but she loves
serving our veterans,

she loves serving our community.

And this bike tells a story.

I mean the custom eagle on
the back was a chef's kiss.

- I used to ride and I would
kill for a bike that nice.

That is just gorgeous.

Just unbelievable.

And that sculpture, holy...
