returned a verdict of guilty

in the case of the people
against William Homer Carhew.

Today, it is the court's duty to pass sentence.

Ordinarily in a case like this,

sentencing would be simple and obvious,

but a grave question has been raised...

which must be considered.

The court has before it a petition

asking that a mistrial be declared

on the grounds of prejudice.

Now before the court rules on this,

there's something I... I wanna say.

The attorney representing the defendant

was perfectly within his
rights to make this petition,

and it would seem that the people

who have made it clear

But there is no justice

cold-blooded and vicious murderer

not for the kind of man he is,

but on the specific charge of murder.

when they swore to render a verdict
