Honey, what's wrong?

Nothing.

Honey, I'm your stepmom. I can tell when something's wrong with just one look.

It's kind of stupid, but basically for my English class,

they want us to do a whole presentation and do a speech in front of the entire class.

Okay, what's wrong with that?

Well, it's the fact that I have to talk in front of like 200 people.

Like, I don't know, I'm nervous and, like, scared to talk in front of that many people.

And Ms. Stevens has been trying to help me, but I don't know.

Well, luckily for you, your mom took speech class in college and was a very good student.

I can help you.

You're willing to help me?

Yes, of course.

I mean by the time I'm done with you you're gonna be the best speaker in your

school so let me go get my whiteboard I'll be right back okay okay honey these

are a couple tips I learned in speech class so we're gonna go over them okay

how's this gonna help it's really gonna help you it's gonna make you feel

confident and it's gonna prepare you for your speech in front of those 200 people

okay so let's go over it number one control your body okay honey pay

attention I'm sorry mom where did your mind just go there's a lot of things on

my mind I mean for one like asking Stacy out and seeing if she'll go on a date

with me and how that's going to go. My boy is growing up and I forget you're a man now. It's

all right. All right. Well, let's, um, I have an idea. Let's try again. Okay. I think this will

help you focus okay okay so number one number two see I think that helped yeah

I mean it did but it's just control your body I mean these tips aren't really

gonna help me make me not nervous or anxious when I'm up there hmm okay let's

try this again imagine yourself okay this is kind of more step two okay

visualize yourself in front of the 200 people in the crowd doing the speech son

okay what what the hell it's okay it's not weird honey but you're my mom and I

just had my hand on your boob yes it felt weird it's not weird I'm your mom

I'm trying to help you trust me I know what I'm talking about it's okay let's

try it again okay it's okay okay so please let's just breathe and again let's try to visualize

that you're in front of the 200 people in the crowd okay and you're doing your speech

okay okay

okay i think it's helping

there you go good job honey

yes good good see told you i know what i'm talking about yeah okay but

But how is this supposed to help?

I mean, it feels more weird than helpful.

It's not weird.

It is helpful.

And look, it calmed you down.

So I think, look, it hijacked your other senses.

I think we should continue going the rest of this.

And I think by the time we're done and after we practice, you're going to be so ready.

You're going to be the best speaker in your school.

Are you sure?

I'm very sure.

Just trust me, honey.

I know what I'm talking about.

Okay.

Okay.

Okay.

wake up sweetie

good morning

what are you doing up so early mom

well tomorrow is a big day for your presentation

so today I think we need to practice a little more

I don't think you're ready yet

so we're going to do something a little bit more intense today

Do we really have to? I mean, it's not until tomorrow. Should I be worried?

No, of course not, sweetie. I just want your brain to be prepared for what's coming.

And, you know...

I think you're in just the right mood. I forgot how hard young boys are in the morning.

So, let's start by visualizing...

You're in front of two hundred people.

Okay, you're breathing.

I want you to remember this feeling where you're in front of all those people.

There you go.

I don't know if we should be doing this, Mom.

I know what I'm talking about.

I want you to get an A in this class.

So, keep visualizing.

Visualize success.

Remember number two?

The tips I taught you?

Keep visualizing.

Mm-hmm, see you're more focused and relaxed

Keep breathing

Yes, there you go

See, this will help you relax for your big day.

I told you I'm gonna make sure that you're the best speaker in your school.

There you go. There you go.

Keep breathing.

Breathing. Yeah.

See, the more you practice, the better you'll get.

Right?

See? This is not too bad.

Again, visualizing you on stage, everyone's looking at you, see, you're relaxed, now I want you to remember this feeling when you go on stage tomorrow, or in front of the class, about 200 people, I'm assuming you're going to be on stage.

Mm-hmm.

Oh, yeah.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

There you go.

Oh, yeah.

There.

You're going to ace it tomorrow.

Mm-hmm.

Hmm

See now you're not hyperventilating

Yeah

keep visualizing

remember what you're going to say

yeah

and how you're feeling

right now

is how I want you to remember

yourself when you're on stage

There you go, oh there, see, visualizing success, we're using all the steps that I was taught

in college. Are mommy's tits helping you focus? Yeah, good. Just remember this feeling when

you're on stage tomorrow. You're going to do great. Keep breathing. You're doing so

well. I'm very proud of you. See? Mommy knows best. Good job. Just like that. Good job.

There you go, son. You're doing so well. So proud of you. Yes. Told you I'd set you up

for success. I always have the best intentions. There you go. Yes, good job.

There you go, see, being on stage tomorrow is going to be a piece of cake, mm-hmm, mm-hmm,

see it's not so bad I'm gonna do so well

mm-hmm keep visualizing there you go mm-hmm just like this very good

mm-hmm good job son oh yeah mm-hmm very good see practice practice practice and

you'll be so ready

mhm

Are you proud of me, Mom?

I'm very, very proud of you, son.

You're doing so well.

You think so?

I definitely think so.

Mm-hmm yeah I think your brain is ready.

Oh yeah mom, keep going.

Well now I think you're ready.

I think you're very prepared for your presentation.

Are you serious?

Yep. But I can prepare you something to eat. Would you like something to eat?

Sure. Yeah, I'll have a sandwich.

Okay. I'll go make you a sandwich.

Hey, honey. How did it go today?

about that.

What?

What's wrong?

I failed.

I froze up.

I ran off.

I don't know what happened.

I just...

I couldn't do it.

I had a feeling this was going to happen.

I don't know what happened when I got up there.

It's just...

I started thinking about my lines that I had to say,

and then I was like...

It's embarrassing, but I couldn't stop thinking about your tits.

dad. This is going to stay between us, okay? You have nothing to worry about. What if it

ruins our relationship? It will not ruin our relationship. I just want you to succeed in
