Indians

Two miles ahead.

Mr. Todd.

Move your car there, and cover yourself inside.

Sergeant, bring the troop.

We go bulls.

From the West

Dick Powell, presents:

The Zane Gray Theater.

The covered car was the desert ship.

It was called the "Sailboat of the Plain".

And traveling in it was almost as comfortable as walking

the rail rails on a barrel.

Come, I'll show you,

Do not sit there, come.

That's.

Thank you.

Now, this western model had everything you would have wanted,

rims without tube,

windshield completely sliding,

emergency brakes,

and convertible cover.

Fully air-conditioned, hot in summer, cold in winter.

This particular model had 4 horsepower,

guaranteeing a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour.

40 miles to climb a hill.

And the price was reasonable,

$ 100 dollars.

As the "........" on the west coast.

This week's story is "A Star Over Texas"

and the star is Ralph Bellamy.

"A Star Over Texas"

Ten days since we left Jefferson.

Miss more than that, right?

You've been a wife for almost two weeks, Carolina.

You are a beautiful girl.

I doubt you realize, but you would look great under my coat.

I do not want to press.

Please, no, Mr. Todd.

Caroline.

I know you had no reason to feel affection for me,

when we got married, that was...

So it was done, you needed a wife,

and it was time for me to have a husband.

That did not involve either of us.

Good evening, Mr. Todd.

Bless you, enough time has already passed for that.

When a man and a woman are married.....

Help help....

Who are you girl?

Annie Morgan

A group of men are burning our car.

Where?

Going down that road.

Morgan...

Morgan...

He still sleeps.

Did you find out where it comes from?

Indiana.

From a place called "Binfance"

They also went to Texas.

Poor guys.

How do we tell him what happened?

She knows it.

I do not know how, but she knows it.

He did not go to sleep last night, until I told him

that we would take her to Texas with us.

Did you tell him?

She is a big and strong girl,

It will be of great help to me.

No Caroline, that girl is going back to Indiana with her relatives.

But he has no relatives.

He has nobody but me.

But you must meet someone there, I will sell your horses for enough money to...

Mr. Todd, all families have children and Annie will be ours.

But we can have our own children.

Now he is being selfish.

Caroline, you're trying to keep this girl as protection,

a wall between us.

Mr. Todd, when my father told me I had to marry you.

He also told me he was a kind man.

I hope he was not wrong.

I'm still going to sell the horses.

Relax in what I take a break.

Assailants

The two of you get inside the car.

They are fine?

If we are well, are you hurt Mr. Todd?

Our good sir replied for the Todds this time.

Lieutenant James Collins, sir.

4th of chivalry, Fort Smith.

Any low?

None, thanks to you

Those raiders are dangerous.

Where do they come from?

Oh Deserters, fugitives, renegade thieves.

We have orders to protect travelers like you,

and his daughters.

This is my wife, my name is Todd,

we headed to Texas.

This is our daughter.

Her parents were murdered a little behind, we took her with us.

We will see that they are safe through the dangerous zone.

Those are Washington's orders.

Safe conduct to travelers from Texas.

I'm very happy to have come.

A very big burden for such a small girl.

Ma always made fun of my age.

You're a great help, Annie.

You know, I decided to call you Pá.

Well, that's nice.

How old are you, Pá?

You're much older than Caroline, are not you?

Do not you think it's better to go to bed, Annie?

I'll wait for Caroline.

Where is Caroline?

I think the lieutenant invited her to walk,

it is nice.

How is Fort Smith really?

It is not exactly like the East.

On Saturday night the show is reborn.

That is the night of the dance.

I love to dance.

I'm afraid there will not be many opportunities in Texas.

Mr. Todd would not go in any way.

He's pretty old, is not he?

It's not that, it's just

that many girls marry men older than them.

It has a lot of other things to think about.

Other things, like what?

This Star over Texas.

Someday Texas will be in the union.

All those things that Sam Houston has told you.

Did the Lord of Tennessee give you some advice

How to treat a very young wife ?.

I do not know what you want to say.

On how to make love to her.

Make the point, two miles to the front.

Yes sir.

Sergeant.

Place your men a quarter of a mile from the camp,

relay them every two hours.

Yes sir.

Problems?

I hope not.

But ahead...

the hills "Kaimichi", territory "Shock Dog".

Sam warned me that this would be the most dangerous part of the trip.

His friend Sam this time knew what he was talking about.

I declare that I do not know what I would do with that attitude.

Take a part then.

Get in the car Annie.

It's early, Pá.

I want to talk to Caroline.

What's the matter, Mr. Todd?

I did not want to scare Annie.

We are in Indian territory. Do not leave the camp.

Even to walk with the lieutenant.

You. disapprove of the lieutenant?

You know more about me than me.

He has no right to insinuate...

I do not do it.

I just told you not to leave the camp, even with the lieutenant.

I am not his slave.

You are my wife.

You will do what I say.

Caroline.

Around there too.

Signs "Shock Dog".

How far are we from Fort Smith?

Still 3 long days.

Very silly that husband of yours,

that makes you suffer for him every night.

You'd be silly, though, if you do not come with me to the ball at Fort Smith.

I should not have allowed you to kiss me.

Why not? You like me.

If I liked.

But I do not know if I liked it between you and me.

Do not be so serious, Caroline.

You are the most beautiful girl I have seen in this area,

Is not that..... Wait a minute,

You can not leave a man on.

What did I do?

Did I leave you on?

You did not exactly withdraw.

Oh ..

Annie...

We'll talk a bit more later.

Have you seen Annie?

I was here when I started dinner.

Annie

Annie...

I just wanted to get some flowers for you and Pá.

She will not leave the camp again.

It has already calmed down.

He wants his dinner.

Why do not you take it with you? He loves you so much

I'm almost ashamed to think that

when it came to us.....

Things have changed a lot since then,

We have not been very close.

A lot.

Caroline,

Do you think you could come with us or with me?

I'll try Joel.

I was doing my round when I saw him.

That gives us a chance to talk.

About what?

My wife.

What do you mean, Todd?

She's so young and I'm so old, it's the way she's seen the matter.

Now that you mention it, yes.

He thinks he'll be happy with someone younger than me.

It's true.

That's a lie.

I knew our age when we got married.

And I even imagined that sooner or later he would find me

with some silly young man who would remind me of it.

You do not need to be reminded,

Not Caroline either.

Goodnight.

I have not finished.

Caroline is my wife.

His wife... Caroline is not more than his servant.

Enough young to be trained and

Strong enough to take care of your house.

I'm warning you, Lieutenant. Stay away from her.

You do not love her,

and I try to see her as much as I can.

Indians

Two miles ahead.

Mr. Todd, move your car over there, and cover yourself inside.

Sergeant, bring the troop.

We go bulls.

Is Annie in the car?

Yes. If you teach me how to use that weapon, I can help.

You are a real woman, Caroline.

I'm a wife, Joel.

I want you to stay in the car with this.

You load it,

and you pull the trigger, there are two cannons, two bullets.

One is for Annie.

They are more men than I thought.

Believe we have an opportunity, Lieutenant.

Maybe, a small one.

Where is Pa, Caroline?

It's under the car.

I do not want to be hurt, I love him so much.

I love him too.

I leave you in charge, Mr. Todd.

Two men is all I can leave him.

What are you talking about?

If we stay here they will kill us one by one.

We do not have a chance against all those "Shock Dogs"

What do you propose, Lieutenant?

There is only one way to fight with the Indians...

loading.

With that group of rookies, you will lose half of your men.

The other half could save your hair, Mr. Todd.

Keep that thing firing.

Lieutenant.

Come back with us

Thank you.

Why does not he tell his wife that he is in love with her?

One at each end of the car.

It worked.

They run like rabbits.

You have to give the credit to the lieutenant.

He is truly smart.

I have already noticed.

They are fine?

Has Joel finished everything?

I hope it's just starting.....

The stars are going to leave early tonight,

and that big one in the southwest

Hang directly over Texas.
