onto the next bike.

Leo is a special guy.

He really wanted
to do this bike,

so Dr. Smith and Dr.
Gopal, the Byrd Institute,

are so committed
to what they do.

It's just great to see.

I think the real ultimate
goal, though, is to find a cure

for Alzheimer's and dementia.

(light upbeat music)

When you say
Alzheimer's, you know,

what does that encompass?

- So, Alzheimer's disease

is the most common
cause of dementia.

A lot of times people think
those terms are interchangeable.

Dementia really just means
that you have changes in memory

and thinking and it affects
your day-to-day function

and it's a change from
how you used to be.

- Thank you.

- We are studying risk factors,

so what I mean by that is
many, many small changes

in our genes create a
situation where some of us

have greater lifetime
risk than the others.

There are lots and lots
of lifestyle changes

that we can do now to
keep the disease at bay.

- Among my age group,
you know, I have to say

that we joke all the time.

My girlfriend's like,

"Okay, third time
walking into the kitchen,

can't remember why I'm in
here," you know, and I'm like,

"Oh, only three
tries? Took me four."

But it is the beginning
of your brain starting to-

- Right, but some of that
is normal aging, you know,

and it can be hard sometimes
to kind of differentiate

what that line is.

- Every time that you take
that bike to an event,

people may not walk over to
a table that is about autism

or Alzheimer's or, you know,

but they walk over
to a really cool bike

and it allows you
the opportunity

to strike up a
conversation about it.

- You know, when you
originally may say, you know,

I wanna put this logo on there,

but when you're into the
middle of the bike route-

- Yeah,
- That changes, so.

- My husband wanted to suggest

making part of it
look like a brain.

- Maybe we will.

(Dr. Smith laughing)

Okay.

I think that we got enough to
take back to the shop with us.

- From an R&D perspective,

you don't always
get the opportunity

to really see into
what a company does

and I really feel like
Dr. Smith and Dr. Gopal

shared so much with us
and what they're doing

and how committed that they are

to making a difference
in Alzheimer's and
how it plays out.

I personally could have
stayed there all day.

Alzheimer's bike.

We already had the frame made,

so I found a tank that was close

that I thought it
would work, but anyhow,

Anthony, I gave Anthony a call,

he came over the following day,

but he cut the tunnel out,
dropped the front on there

and it looked just like
it was made for the bike.

Doing that frame up here.

(laughing) Not after you
spoke to me that way.

- Yeah, grab the old axle.

Put it on backwards?

- This is nah, it's heavy.

Probably a good spot for it.

The front end's
pretty long, you know.

- Yeah.

- Everything for the

I always talk highly
of you, Mike, you know?

Your other children and how
smart and successful they are.

- I'll be honest with you, Mike,

when it's just me and him, he
talks about you constantly.

I wanted to kind of go
through the backside

of this frame and I think
that'll be a cool look.

Maybe have it come around
the motor like this,

you know, kind of do
some bends through here,

and then pipe it, the
exhaust out the back

of the frame right here.

I think that would give
it a really cool look.

and can't find my way back

- It's like when

mind's awake, your body's not.

same thing over and over

people don't realize

the pressure of doing this,

and it's not just pressure
on me, it's on pressure,

it's pressure on
the production team,

it's pressure on everybody

'cause everybody
has a commitment.

I think he means really

and he is a good dude,
but he's harsh sometimes.

a lot of difficulty

putting the rear fender
on, which we shouldn't have

'cause we usually don't.

End result is it came out good.

We got the front end on,
we got the fender on.

Drew did a really good
job on the exhaust.

Gotta go to work.

You know, I gave Anthony a call,

he came over right away and
you know, he looked at it

and you know,
Anthony's just good

with everything that we do.

- And then this is the ring
roll piece that I got, okay?

So you get this up there and
you're gonna cut this in half

and you're gonna put it on here,

you're gonna sleeve
it into here.

- Okay, and then leave it

and then let it go
where I want it to go.

- Yep.
- Perfect.

- Yeah, perfect.

So I mean, the only
thing that we got left

is mounting the front caliber.

I'm not so sure how
that's gonna look.

- The bars.
- And the handlebars.

Let's drop it down for a second,

Where my hand is here like
this, that's probably-

- It's good, your wrist
is pretty straight,

your elbow's good.

- You're gonna be like out.

I'm just wondering if
the rise is too high.

- I'll have to cut it here,

slug it back a
little bit like that,

get the curve and then at this

where it gets
straight up right here

before the control
will have to be,

and then we'll just
kick it forward.

and then drop this down

an inch and a half.

When I get back from
lunch, it's better be done.

I'm kind of used to

which makes it a

would definitely be

Honestly, I think the reason why

there's always so much tension

is 'cause there's not
a woman in the room

because I feel like if
any woman was in the room

with the arguing that goes
back and forth, it's comical.

It's like, I don't know,
very, very interesting

the things that they
get mad and heated over,

and then it's like that
and done and over with.

- Yeah, it's a lot

We were kind of butting
heads a little bit,

but you know, we talked it out

and you know, everything's good,

couple obstacles we had.

Drew's finishing up
welding on the bike,

finish tearing it down and
hopefully we can get everything

out to paint and powder
coat in the morning.

breaking down the bike.

Right now, we got it all
the way down to the frame.

Drew's gotta still do
some welding on it.

A lot of it's done,

but he's still gotta
finish welding that off.

welding the gas tank off.

you would decide on

because it's gonna get covered.

You're only gonna really
see that much of it,

so if you wanna do

I started turning right

when I needed to turn left and
I put gas instead of brakes,

so I got it all twisted up,

but hopefully I'll do a
little bit better in Daytona.

- I think they
gave me a simulator

that didn't steer good,
so sour grapes anyway.

Paul said if we get
invited back again,

I'll come back again and
improve, that's for sure.

- Fun, a lot of laughs.

I don't think I've seen
anybody in the group

laughing quite this much
in the last six weeks.

- I had like a vehicle
that reminded me

of the show "Mr. Bean."

Made pretty good time.

I didn't wanna shame anybody,

Like the bikes that
we're building now

are totally different than
the bikes that we built

on Discovery previous days
'cause every one was a,

every one was like a theme bike,

and you know, it's a streeter,
you know what I mean?

And I just think that-

- I thought it was creative.

- But there, you know,
there was an era for that.

I mean, I dig building
these type of bikes more so.

I mean, really this bike
here, you could ride anywhere.

It's a comfortable

done on the bike today.

It looks like they're kind of
making some forward progress,

not running into too many bumps

and it's going pretty smooth.

- So, the best part of the
day today was my son Dan.

He came by, he was
on his honeymoon,

and he flew into
Clearwater over here

and surprised me last
night I went home.

The first time him being here,

so it was great to
see him and his wife

and spend the day together.

I'm glad he got to
see the restaurant.

I think he really
enjoyed himself.

You know, he did a
little sightseeing.

So yeah, it was a good day.

- Really excited about this,

especially after
seeing the picture.

- Today I want to get
the oil tank lines run,

get the air filter situated.

We have to do some
modifications,

a little fabrication for
that to go on and fit.

We've gotta space the rear
sprocket out a little bit

for chain alignment purposes.

Hopefully get the brake
lines run, throttle cable,

stuff like that, just
as far as we can go.

We'll be pretty close I
think by the end of today.

We're still waiting
on the paint.

That should be coming
in next couple days.

Hopefully that's gonna
be the last thing

that's gonna be bolted
on to finish the bike.

Yeah, I mean, I think things

going a little
bit smoother today

so we're gonna work
on the primary,

get the primary on there

and I'm hoping to get
maybe 90% done today,

tomorrow we get the paint

and a few other
miscellaneous things,

but I think we're doing

A quarter inch off,
it still gotta go in.

You had a chain on this thing.

one, same primary.

No, it's a BDL, but
it should be the same.

- It's a quarter inch.

How is that possible?

Because let me ask you
this, dude, did he have,

what size tire is this?

- 280.

- Did he have like
a 240 on there?

That makes sense to me

because you can't go.

- The other frames are 240.

Brands is a 240.

- What I'm saying
is you can't go,

if you had a 240 wheel here,

this could be over
where you need it to be

say half of it inch that way,

almost, you know, more centered.

- There's not a
lot of difference

between the 240 to 280.

I mean, there's some, but
not, I don't even, huh?

- There's that much difference.

- We got the chain on,

we got the spacing
right on the sprockets

and we went to put the inner
primary on and it don't fit.

It needs to go in a half inch,

and the way that it's
set up with the tire

and the sprocket in the
front, it's the opposite,

so you're stuck in the same
position that you're in.

You can't move one
way or the other way

because there's
just no tolerance.

- You get the
transmission up it instead

of disconnecting
even the oil lines,

I bet we can just kind
of hang that down.

- Well let's get the
transmission outta there

and look at it, right?

(tool buzzing)

- So I went to the very edge.

I went to the inside
of that ledge.

- That's as far as you
can go without hacking.

crazy on there, you know?

Very nice. Ken outdid himself.

- [Jim] Most definitely.

- A lot of people are
not crazy about purple,

but I've always liked it.

I was telling Christian I did
a purple bike for somebody,

they didn't like it, I
wind up keeping it myself.

The color contrast
is phenomenal,

and again, you know, it's just
an another great paint job

that Ken's done, so I'm
really excited to get these,

we should be able to
mount these on today,

and yeah, I'm really
happy with it, yeah.

that would've been
pretty impressive.

- As long as we're

- Fired off immediately,

like probably quicker than
the last four, five, six bikes

that we did, fired and
it actually sounded good.

I don't think
Christian had to adjust

the carburetor too much at all,

but we'll get it, you
know, all go over the bike

and then we'll take
her out for a spin.

(upbeat rock music)

- It looks really nice.

She fired right
up, sounded good,

so it should be good to go.

- Yeah, so the night before
the unveil it wouldn't start.

(engine sputtering)

(engine sputtering continues)

- Spark plug.

(engine sputtering)

This side's not sparking.

- Christian went
through the whole system

of what he thought the
possibilities were and he,

believe me when I
tell you, he knows.

He's a good mechanic,
Christian, good with electric.

He worked for me for a long time

and he stayed probably
another two and a half hours.

He was not leaving
until he got it.

(engine rumbling)

- Boy that spoiler
is loud, right?

There was getting too
much voltage dropped

to the ignition
module while cranking

so it was going below 12 volts,

and when I ran a direct
lead from the battery hot

to the ignition module,
it fired right up

when it was getting full juice

so it was one of those things
you, of course it happens,

you know, at whatever hour
of the night it is right now

and the bike's, you
know, going out tomorrow.

(gentle music)

- You know, I think people,

they have no idea
what to expect.

They get a whole
different vision

other than the one
that they had before.

(gentle music continues)

- We had the opportunity
here to see what was going on

and I was fascinated, I could
have stayed here all day

to see the great work
that you're doing

and I hope that this bike
will bring more awareness

so that we can have more
research development

and let's find a
cure for Alzheimer's

and give everybody
their memory back

'cause that's all we have.

(all cheering and clapping)

- So we just got done with
the Alzheimer's unveil

and it went great.

The crowd was awesome,
the bike came out,

Paul riding it, it
sounded amazing.

Coming up the hill,

you just saw the purple
and teal coming up

and it was amazing.

Leo loved it.
Everybody loved it.

- Leo said he just always
wanted to honor him.

Father was this brilliant
writer, an amazing human being,

and it also bring awareness
to Alzheimer's and dementia.

- What amazing bike.

I think we're gonna strike
up so many conversations,

get people involved.

- Another one of a kind from OCC

and I think we knocked
it outta the park.

- You can see on the
people's faces how excited

and emotional it is for them,

so when that happens, I always
feel that we did our job.

- I really thank OCC for
participating in this event.

We are glad to be part
of this whole endeavor.

I really love that you guys
chose us to be part of this

and I like to see
where this takes us.

- Actually this quote, "until

is in my email signature,

so every time I send
a message to someone,

that's the message
that I'm sending out,

so I'm so excited
that the same message

is gonna be on this bike
going all along the country.
