Typically, I am the first one
in the building every morning.

Between 5:30 and six o'clock,

I'll make sure that all the systems
are working, everything is a go,

and prepare the building
to start to receive the guests.

Try to put out some snacks
and some water. It's not a whole lot,

but because the guests come
from out of state,

driving all night long,
six, eight, ten hours to come here,

they're not sitting here
without anything to eat all day long.

I walk through the building

just to make sure everything is clear

because it would be easy
for someone to hide

and wait to ambush someone
if they really, really wanted to.

I'm at work already.

Yeah, you know how it is.
You got to hit the ground running.

So, we'll do prayer this morning.
I'm moving around,

but I'd like to get it in
'cause we got a busy day.

I'll see what time the first client
is supposed to be on site.

Normally, the guards have to be in place
so that if people do arrive early,

they go ahead and brief them

before the protesters
have a chance to start yelling

that vile stuff at them
early in the morning.

They got enough to deal with.

You see, Jesus Christ
came to save you from Hell.

This is a place that serves the Devil
from the power of darkness.

Turn away from your sins.

You know in your heart of hearts

'cause you have a conscience
that God has put in you.

The law of God is written
on all men's hearts.

And one of those is,
"Thou shall not murder."

Murder is on your heart
and you know that it's wrong.

in the one who came to die for you.

I think it makes the guests feel at ease

because nobody's hearing anybody's name
or anybody's personal information.

When you speak to the guests,

it's a very upsetting experience
for a lot of them.

Please, ma'am.
Please, let's trust God today.

Especially when the women
are walking up to the clinic

and he'll say something.

"God told me to tell you you're a murderer
and you're going to Hell."

And I see how it pierces them
in their spirit.

They'll get right here
and I'll see the tears.

And I say to them, "Baby, don't let
the Devil get in your spirit."

"He's a man.
He's human, just like you are."

And at the end of the day,
God gets the final say.

I'm not here to judge anybody.

This is health care, period.

If you're pregnant,

you're already a mother,
and God put that baby there.

God's knitting that child together
in your womb right now.

God has a purpose and a plan
for that child.

All right, so you have an appointment?
All right, can I see your ID, please?

You're super early,
you got a long day ahead of you.

- You drove from Tennessee. Okay, yeah.
- She said come early.

- Yeah.

And I'm like, "I can't do that."

When I'm up
at the top of the hill, you know,

before I send them in
to check in at the desk,

I say to them, "You're safe."

"You're here and that's half the battle."

"Don't worry about anything.
You're in good hands now."

Jesus said, "Why do you call me Lord
and not do the things I say?"

Hi, how can I help you?

Yes, we do.

In the call center, we are the first place
that the clients talk to.

All righty, we would make
an appointment

and you would need to come
into the center for care.

Do you know the first day
of your last normal period?

And then to be the person
that has to tell them that no,

they can't be seen in Georgia,
is really hard.

So, if you have cardiac activity
on an ultrasound,

we're not going to be able to see you.

And that generally happens
around six weeks.

And you are six weeks today.

Where do you currently live?

It's extremely heartbreaking
to have to tell them no.

And they're scared.

Your best bet might be Florida.

There's a clinic in Jacksonville, Florida
and in Tallahassee, Florida.

I have their telephone number
if you'd like it. Sure.

There's funding to help with the cost
of the procedure and with your travel.

So, be sure and ask them about that, okay?

- How are you? Come on this way.
- Good, how are you?

I'm gonna be doing
a quick ultrasound for ya.

All right, I'm just gonna tuck this in.

Really, it's more for you.
That jelly gets messy.

I'm gonna put some cold stuff
on your belly.

So, your last menstrual period
was about five weeks ago.

Yeah. Yes.

So, there's a tiny, tiny little sac here.

And it looks like
it's about a five-week sac.

I don't see anything inside of the sac.

So, there's no cardiac activity.

No, that's a very normal reaction.

Relief. Yes.

From an ultrasound standpoint,

if you're doing a prenatal study,

you know, you're looking
at the four chambers of the heart

in order for a properly functioning heart.

And you're not seeing that at six weeks.
It's not even developed at six weeks.

You wouldn't even start looking
until halfway through the pregnancy

for normal heart anatomy.

- So, you are good.
- Good.

Yes. Tears of relief.

I know that
that's the most anxiety-driven part.

You're good. Here you go.

You're all set.

Are we gonna ever, with women's health,
get past the A-word?

We're still at abortion.

There's so many other needs
that need to be prioritized

in women's health care.

But society and politics
are stuck on this one,

you know?

So, I never thought
that I would have more rights,

25 years ago, than my daughter does now.

I try to tell the guests
that come with their partners

to set up kind of a signal.

I will tell the patients,

if everything is fine,
send them a thumbs up.

I say, "Worst case scenario,

you'll text them and say,
'Hey, go get the car.'"

And so this morning,
we have our first no-go.

It's always emotional for them coming out.

They might be six weeks and a day,
but it's nothing we can do.

go to jail, it's just like, "What?"

It's... It's hard.

Because having a six-week ban
can essentially ban abortion.

A lot of women don't even realize
that they're pregnant that early.

So, this patient
is scheduled for next week--

So, that one we would do two-day...

- Friday, Saturday. Okay.
- Yeah.

- And it's a fetal anomaly?
- Yes.

As OB-GYN providers,
we think about when legislation impacts

our ability to provide care.

It may not be viable.

Do you feel okay,

or do you want stronger wording
from the specialist?

When we're thinking about areas
where we want to work

and where we want to live,

that definitely goes
into our decision-making.

So, I've had one previous case
with a patient with holoprosencephaly

that was not as severe,
where our committee didn't let us do.

But this is much more severe,
and this documentation

- says that she has the most severe form.
- Okay.

So, I think that this should be fine.

- I may just send a quick text...
- Okay. Yeah.

- ...but I think this should be fine.
- Please.

We have no problem with double,
triple, and quadruple checking.

We may see a shift in providers

not choosing to be
in certain parts of the country

because the laws
and the legal landscape in that area

doesn't allow them the ability
to provide their full scope of care.

Whether yellow, Black, or white

They are precious in his sight

When I look out,

I see pain, I see sadness. I see

hypocrisy, I see judgment,

because all of the protesters
have a history.

The same people that come here and say,

"My body, my choice,
you can kill your baby,"

are the same people
who say, "Black Lives Matter."

What hypocrisy.

Jason has been to prison.

When he was 22, he and three friends
attempted to burn down a Black church

down in Houston County
in Perry, Georgia, where he's from.

And one day I asked him, I said,

"How can you stand out here

and cast people into a heaven or hell
that you don't have?"

He said, "Because I repented."
Very self-righteous.

"I repented and God forgave me."

Then you feel like
it's okay for you to come out here

and stand and cast judgment on people.

Because as you say,
you repented and God forgave you.

So, he can't forgive nobody else?

So, it sickens me, it saddens me,

but this is the world
we live in, unfortunately.

God will not hear your prayers

because you have blood dripping
from your hands.

And those who have brought someone here

will also have blood dripping
from your hands

as if you were the one
who drove a knife into...

It's a lot, you know, to come here

and to deal with the energy,
the negative energy, from the protesters.

Because I know when I speak
to these women,

when I look in their eyes, that's me.

- Did you drive or did you Uber?
- Uber.

Okay. Come on and have a seat

When I was younger, I had an abortion.
It was nothing that I was proud of.

- What time was your appointment?

And I didn't feel like
I had anybody to go to,

anybody to talk to,
anybody to share that with.

Get anything you need out of your purse,

and then I'm going to take it
and put it in the back.

I was ashamed.

Later in life, when I got married,
and I was pregnant with my twins,

I went into early labor at six months,

and one was stillborn,
and one passed away 30 minutes later.

So, I always think about
if that decision to have an abortion...

was the reason why I don't have children.

That kind of thing, so...

It's hard.

I always ask God,
why did he curse me with this?

Because I think about my legacy.
I'm divorced and I don't have children.

I'm trying to point out the truth here
in God's word to warn you...

But everybody deserves
to know that they matter.

Please don't murder
your child today, momma.

And if we have a conversation here
and I don't ever hear from you again,

know that you matter to me.

I try to leave that with every guest

because that's the way God blesses me
so that I can bless other people.

Because everybody
doesn't have somebody to tell them,

"You matter and I love you."

our control over our own
reproductive autonomy?

There are moments
when you're just angry and upset,

and you sit and you put it
into perspective and you think like,

"Okay, these are the people
that made it to me here,

but how many people did not?"

This is not a laughing matter.
One day you will stand before Holy God,

give an account for this day saying,

"Why didn't I listen
to these men out here?"

That's right, mothers and fathers,
ladies and gentlemen.

The Scripture says, point blank...

"The Lord hates the hands
that shed innocent blood."

That's not our opinion.
We didn't write it.

It's the word of God,
Proverbs chapter six, verse 17.

Some of you guys, you come here,
you think God loves everyone.

You think, "No matter what I do,
God's gonna love me."

Unfortunately, God's word is interpreted

to meet whatever the need is
of the people that are interpreting it.

You pick out the parts
that matter to you, right?

And forget about the rest of it.

What are we looking like, we got left?

in the best way that we could, Father God.

Father God, I ask for covering
from the crown of my head

to the soles of my feet for myself,
Father God, and all that were here

at Feminist today, Lord God.
