I live with my grandfather,
my mother's father.

I was about 10 years old
when my father died.

He died alone.

He became paralyzed and began to suffer.

How did you start your revolution?

In the beginning,
it was an underground movement.

Some 30 or 40 years later,

when the West Bank
and the rest of Palestine fell,

the PLO was formed
and many of us joined its ranks.

When you return to Palestine,
what will you do first?

First of all, I would rebuild my house.

Next, I would take care of our land,

our olive trees, and our property.

Rebuilding our houses is our priority,
because all of our homes were destroyed.

Fifty years on, do you see yourself
ever going back to Palestine?

Even if I live to be 100,
I would still hope to return.

What would you say to
the new generation of Palestinians?

I would like to say that

in one or 100 generations' time,

when me and others are dead,

promise me that Palestine
will never be forgotten.

I was crossing the road one day
and I didn't see any cars.

A car driving at 200 km/h
appeared out of nowhere.

It hit me in the legs…

and I was thrown into the air.

Then it ran over my leg,
shoulder, and head.

My head suffered four fractures.

All of the dispossessed
have moved into Shatila.

Since 1982, we've been caught between
the devil and the deep blue sea.

We, the people, have had to put up with
the mistakes of our leaders,

who have abandoned us
and forgotten about us.

Then the Lebanese government held us
responsible for all of those mistakes.

he feared for his children's lives

and decided to flee to Lebanon
until things calmed down.

they can return to Palestine someday.

and I have worked as a blacksmith
and vegetable seller.

I couldn't hold down any of those jobs
for more than a week or two.

Finally, I started working at the co-op,
and I've managed to stay in the job.
