I'm flying the drone right now
with the LiDAR equipment on it.

This particular unit is
4k resolution.

I've been scanning
the meteorite fault zone

between the open pit
and the energy zone.

Ultimately, it'll give me
a 4D image,

a very detailed image
of this area.

We'll be able to subtract out
the vegetation here.

If there's
an underground opening here,

this is where it's gonna be.

For the past several weeks,
the team has been searching

for an opening
to the keyhole chamber

along the meteorite
fault zone.

These are doorways
into the underground.

It's connected to that
keyhole chamber.

I think this place does have
a lot of potential.

And after discovering
a collapsed opening near

the open pit mine...

This whole thing is
a void, man.

...the team believes they have
found an underground void that

connects to
the keyhole chamber.

Now, Eric is using enhanced
LiDAR to scan one mile

of the fault line to identify
other potential openings.

So, this is my final
pass here.

I've got it pre-programmed to
do about a mile square grid.

Once I'm done here, I'll go
back, look at the data,

and find
the most compelling spot

where the underground
opening will be.

And so, I'm just gonna let it
run here.

The end result is an amazingly
detailed high-resolution map.

We can do things like subtract
out the vegetation.

And so, what I can actually see
is, I can see the geology.

And that allows me to look
at features

such as cave openings.

They show up as little
anomalies, basically.

And I can pinpoint
each of those locations,

get a GPS coordinate on them,
and then we can get to them.

So what I'm seeing here is

there's a cave opening
right there.

I see another cave opening
right there.

Fault zone, there's another one
right there.

This is what we need to
check out.

the LiDAR results that we have,

I'm psyched to hear what Eric
has uncovered.

I mean, every little clue
we find can lead us possibly

into another entrance

to this underground keyhole
cavern system we have.

We got the results of

I've got some real encouraging
signs here.

I'm looking at several
intriguing possibilities.

I've got three
potential openings

that I want to investigate.

They're all spread across
the fault line.

This area here,
if you look on the bottom here,

you'll have a lat and long

that is definitely worth
looking into.

Eric's scans have located
three openings

along the fault line that are
large enough to be

potential entrances
into the underground void.

All are just south
of the open pit mine

and the collapsed opening.

these sites

on the same fault line,
that same trend,

this is the path
that we want to be on

and that we want to follow,

The opening is three quarters
of a mile north

from the keyhole chamber
and seems to descend

deep into the earth
at a steep angle.

timber box submerged in
the pond cavern system.

These door fragments appear
to be very similar.

It is the closest opening to
the keyhole chamber,

just a third of a mile away.

The nice thing about LiDAR is

using technology

instead of your legs to
find something.

if we were to scan this whole
area by foot, it would probably

take us months, if not years.

It looks like this could have
been a natural entrance

at one point, a natural cave,
but I can definitely see

somebody worked this,
somebody pulled material out.

but it appears evident that it
was obviously mined.

the walls, intensifying these
auditory illusions.

You can make a noise,
and then you hear a noise,

so it's actually your own sound
coming back at you.

Acoustics underground can
really play tricks on

your mind.

visited Mexico City,

of the Aztecs once stood.

There, they observed a vertical
shaft that was used as

a burial chamber.

They found at the bottom
the remains of a female.

It's a similar design as that.

So it's like, could be
the same people.

the energy zone,

the team discovered

a strikingly similar
vertical shaft.

The Aztecs believed that being
buried deeper in the earth

brought them closer

to their spiritual plane
of the dead.

In 2013, Mexican archaeologists

uncovered a deep
man-made vertical tunnel

housing what is believed to be

the cremated remains
of Aztec royalty.

Beside the remains
was an offering box

that held gifts for the gods,
including gold,

the bones of an eagle,
two small skulls,

and a stone knife that was used
to perform human sacrifices.

of Brigham Young,

Mormon pioneers developed
their own writing system known

as the Deseret Alphabet.

We've just made a major
discovery on the ranch.

If this is Mormon,
early Mormon from the 1850s,

to Thomas Rhodes himself.

Thomas Rhodes was a minor
and founding member of

the Mormon Church.

According to Utah legend,
a descendant of the Aztecs gave

Rhodes access to the location
of a hidden gold mine deep in

the Uinta Basin.

Thomas is said
to have used the treasure

to finance the establishment
of the early Mormon Church.

If the Mormons were in this
mine when they first got here,

the mid 1800s.
