We are assembling a team

to be called upon
in the toughest of terrain,

the most dangerous
of circumstances,

to rescue the rescuers,

your fellow firefighters.

Now, each of you is here because
you have shown potential

beyond your normal duties.

I say "potential,"

because this will not
be for everyone.

Your interviews
were just the start.

These tryouts will test
not only your ability

to go where no one else can
but they will test

whether or not you even will.

It will test your instinct.

Today, there
will be three trials,

hands-on navigation,

rope rescue,

UTV operation.
That's utility task vehicles.

Now, at the end of the day,

only four of you
will make Cal Fire's

inaugural REMS team.
That means four,

and only four.

So good luck. Grab your gear
