The headlines this morning talked of
political death, the end of a prime

ministership. Prime Minister Bob Hawke
is facing the toughest political battle

of his life.

Paul Keating, who has already failed
once in a leadership challenge and said

wouldn't challenge again, has not gone
away. Hour by hour, the people who voted

for Mr Hawke in the first leadership
challenge are deserting him. With just
