When we walked in,
it was like, "Wow."

She'd cleaned it out.

The amount of jewelry...

it was actually shocking.

[man 2] Six robberies
in five states.

And a total
of 4.5 million dollars

of jewelry stolen.

[man 3] She went
into the stores

and held a gun
to people's heads.

[man 1] Looking at her,
you would not think

she would do
something like that.

[woman] She liked the money.

She liked the rush.

[man 2] They started naming
her the Diamond Diva.

[reporter] Caught on camera,

this woman accused
of the theft

of millions of dollars
of jewelry.

These violent crimes
tend to have the ability
to go wrong.

We risked having more victims.

[man 2] Where would she
be going next?

Where are the next locations?

-[knocking at door]
-[agent] FBI.

[man 2] Each day that went by
the challenge built.

And I was determined the FBI
was gonna win that challenge.

Hi, I'm Special Agent
Chad Fitzgerald.

I am Special Agent
Lawrence Borghini.

[narrator] This isFEDS.

Panama City is a tourist town,

if you're on the Beach side.

If you live in the city,

it's more of a family-friendly

smaller town,
good quality of life.

There's probably the prettiest
beaches I've ever seen.

The sand's powder white,

the water's emerald green.

It's just, uh, it's gorgeous.

The beach...

Like, it's sitting
on the Gulf of Mexico.

But the area also
brings some elements

that are not necessarily...

uh... [clicks tongue],

the best.

[Katy] The majority of crime

focuses around drug use,

um, firearms,
that kind of thing.

But I never felt unsafe.

Gangs are not known

to really exist
in Panama City.

[Jason] I was sitting
in my desk

doing paperwork

and I heard a priority call.

There had been a robbery
at Reeds jewelry store.

When we walked in,
it was like, "Wow."

They'd cleaned it out.

Watches, rings,
diamonds, you name it.

A lot of jewelry.

Store employees
had been zip-tied

and put in a bathroom.

They were shocked
that they had been robbed.

You could see the victims
actually breaking down

telling me what
had all occurred.

[woman speaking] Shortly after
we opened the store,

the girl came in

like a regular customer

looking for a watch
for her boyfriend.

The video has a female come in

wearing black shorts,
white tank top.

[woman speaking]
I was closing the sale.

I was actually excited,

asking her if she wanted
to apply

for one of our store accounts.

We would just need
her driver's license.

I thought she was going
to get her license,

but she pulls out a gun.

I was like,
"You gotta be kidding me."

I guess people
put a stereotype

on people that do
armed robberies.

She is young,
she was very pretty.

She appears well put together.

I mean, clearly,
this is not someone

who was struggling for money.

You just looked at her
like a regular person.

Just in the store
shopping for someone.

You kinda had to ask yourself,

why is this young girl
doing this?

[woman speaking]
She led us to the back,

she tells us to lie down
on the floor

and put our hands
behind our back.

And she zip-tied
our wrists together.

It was the scariest thing

that had ever happened to me.

I've never had a gun
put in my face.

Um...

But in speaking
with the victims,

it is incredibly traumatic.

That crime is going to sit
with those victims

for the rest of their life.

[woman speaking] She said
for us not to say anything.

She was speaking to someone,

and I heard bags rustling.

I started praying.

Would I see my family again?

[Jason] In my career,
I have arrested

for robbery
and different stuff.

But the extent
that we're talking about,

was 679,000 dollars'
worth of jewelry.

It was huge, I mean, it was
one of the largest robberies

we as a city
had ever dealt with.

Once we had secured the scene,

we had sent a bloodhound out.

The dog got a scent

from the Reeds jewelry store.

And it ran down the sidewalk

and went all the way
over to Walmart

to an exact parking place

that the suspect had parked in

before the robbery
had occurred.

I started pulling video
from Walmart.

We found a vehicle.

It was a maroon
or reddish color

and it appeared to be a Honda.

You see the female
get out of the vehicle.

What she was wearing
in the Reeds robbery

was exactly what she was
wearing in Walmart.

You could tell that
there was an individual

in the passenger seat.

The individual was kinda large

and had a light-colored
shirt on.

Once you see that
she's with somebody else,

kinda makes you think

that maybe there was
more than one person

that was involved in this.

The female walks into Walmart,

she goes back
to the automotive section

where the zip-ties are stolen.

She walked back outside,

she gets in the car
and she leaves.

And it wasn't
five minutes later

that she's robbing
Reeds Jewelers.

The only problem was
we were never able

to get the numbers
off that license plate.

As I reviewed the video,

I could tell she was
very comfortable

in her own skin.

She was very matter-of-fact

and she was organized

and she was not nervous.

She was confident
in what she was doing.

It was kinda starting
to paint a picture of...

this may not have been
her first time doing this.

I'm big into searching
the internet

and social media sites.

So, I Googled,

"Jewelry store robberies,
female robbers,

zip-tie victims."

And I hit enter.

And all of a sudden,
the story pops up
from Georgia.

Less than a week
before our robbery,

there was a robbery
that occurred

in Dawsonville, Georgia.

It was a female.

She was using a firearm,

she was taking hostages,

zip-tying 'em,
stealing this jewelry.

The MO was the same
identical thing
that I had dealt with.

And then I found
another robbery

that occurred
in Woodstock, Georgia.

I'm reading the article,

and it's talking about how

they were trying to identify
a possible witness.

And I'd seen the female
that they had pictures of,

and I looked at that
and I said,

"Well, I don't think
that's gonna be a witness.

I think that's gonna
possibly be a suspect."

That's my jewelry
store robber.

And now I've got
three robberies that
I know she's involved.

I was really willing
to work this case,

but I'm based in Florida.

There are issues with me

doing a search warrant
in Georgia.

So, we needed the help.

I knew that if I could get
the FBI involved in it,

it would encompass
Georgia and Florida,

and we could get all
the information at once.

[Larry] The Panama City Beach
Police Department

requested the assistance
of the FBI.

The fact that those robberies
had occurred in Georgia

most likely meant
that those individuals

had travelled across
state lines into Florida.

That immediately
allows the FBI

to open an investigation
and become involved.

I reached out to
our Atlantan division.

Agents were able to secure
snapshots of video

and investigative materials

from the two robberies
they'd had in their area.

In the first robbery
in Woodstock, Georgia,

the female entered the store,

but then a second individual
entered the store,

a large male.

That male pulled his weapon

and ordered the staff
to the back.

But the female seemed
to take a passive role.

[Katy] She gets on the ground

as he is robbing the store.

But she also then gets up

and walks around.

So, it's very clear

that she is not
an innocent bystander.

[Larry] For the second robbery
in Dawsonville, Georgia,

the unknown female now
is taking a more active role

and actually committing
the armed robbery.

And she did a similar type
of takeover robbery.

However, a few things occurred

that were different.

The female was the only one
who had entered the store,

and there was no presence
of anybody outside.

And the third robbery,
Panama City Beach robbery,

we noticed that the day prior

the female subject
had been in the store.

The staff had already
engaged her

and answered
a number of questions

and showed her
a number of pieces.

So, when she entered
the store the next day,

the staff's guard
was somewhat down,

in that they thought that
she was a regular customer

who was looking
to purchase a item

that she had discussed
with them the day earlier.

One of the things
that caught my eye

was that when
she entered the store,

the front door was open.

It looked like an individual

had shut that door for her.

[Jason] The individual
that actually walked up

and flipped the door stopper

appeared to be a larger male

and actually matched
what I had seen

from stillshots
from the Woodstock robbery.

[Larry] I also noticed
that the female

had an earpiece in.

And seemed to have been
talking to somebody.

The female was
very disciplined

in how she conducted
her business.

It looked like
she knew exactly

what she wanted
to take from the store.

She removed diamonds,

she removed
the expensive jewelry,

and she removed
expensive watches.

My gut was,

the female was not
ringleading these robberies.

There was more to the dynamic

of what was happening

than what was on that tape.

[Katy] The first robbery was,

"She's never done
anything like this.

We have to show her
how to do it.

Is she going to be able
to do this in the future?"

And when that robbery
was successful

and they were not caught,

you then had the male suspect

remove himself
from being on camera.

And now it's only her face.

And she is able to pull it off

without a hitch.

It definitely seemed like

this was now her.

And she's now going to be

the driving force
behind these robberies.

[Larry] One thing
that stood out to me

is the fact that
the individuals

in the Atlanta robberies

were concealing
their identities.

They were wearing disguises.

In the Panama City Beach
robbery,

the female had no problem

walking into that store

dressed with no disguise.

That led me to believe

that they were from
the Atlanta area

or in close proximity
to Atlanta.

Up there, they were concerned

about media coverage
of the case.

I immediately wanted
a poster done

so that that
could be distributed.

It was a unique gift

to have the subject

look into the camera
as they did.

Somebody was gonna
know this female.

I knew that.

[Jason] Even though Larry
was taking the case,

I had my ongoing
investigation here.

Of course, I was constantly
checking the internet.

"Jewelry store robberies."

And all of a sudden,

Bluffton, South Carolina
comes up.

Same method of operation,

female entered store,

pulled a handgun,

the employees were zip-tied.

I called Larry, I said,

"Well, Bluffton,
South Carolina just got hit."

[Larry] The fourth robbery

turned out to be
the largest robbery so far.

927,000 dollars' worth
of merchandise was stolen
from the store.

They were stealing
specific items

as if they had a list

of what they wanted.

They were high
dollar value items.

They were not items

that you could go on eBay

or you could go down
to your pawn shop and sell.

They had to have had somebody

that they were selling
this jewelry to.

The fact that
the unidentified female

was communicating
via cell phone

was very important
to the investigation.

I knew that phone
would be pinging off a tower

before it can connect
to another cell phone

or connect to a network.

The challenge then became

finding what tower
she was pinging off of.

I quickly got our Atlanta
field office involved.

Special Agent Fitzgerald

was one of the leading
people in the bureau

as far as handling
cell phone data.

[Chad] Talking to
Agent Borghini,

I learned that
zip-tying the victims,

putting them on their knees...

These victims thought
they were gonna die that day.

[Katy] What Larry
really wanted help with

was to try to identify

the same phone numbers
being present

in the areas of each
of the robberies.

[Larry] I now have
four robberies

in four locations,

and specific times
that the robberies occurred.

[Chad] I thought,
after talking to Larry,

that it was a slam-dunk.

That not only would we
identify the female

that was on the phone
doing the armed robberies,

but if the person

that she was communicating
with on the phone

was in the area,

we would also identify them,

and the co-conspirators.

When you ask
for cell phone data,

each one of those companies
give you back the information

basically on their timeframe.

You could be looking at weeks

or months, quite frankly,

before you actually
get the data back.

[Chad] It's a waiting game

for them to produce
those records.

[Katy] So, while we're waiting
to get the information back

from the cell phone companies,

there's actually
another robbery.

[Larry] Sevierville is
in a touristy area

of Knoxville.

Once again, it was
another robbery

where a female went in,

did a takeover-style robbery,

she took specific items,

and then left the store.

But this time,

she used a different disguise.

He hair appeared to be
a different color.

[Katy] That is scary.

Because they're not stopping.

As a prosecutor,

I wanted nothing more

but them to catch
these individuals.

And by the time
that she commits

the Sevierville robbery,

this female suspect
and her crew

had stolen a little over

3.5 million dollars'
worth of jewelry.

We had, amidst
pressure internally,

from within ourselves,

as well as pressure
from the FBI

to get these
individuals identified

and put a stop to this.

The worst that could
have happened was...

she and her crew

are continuing
to commit robberies,

and they actually
kill someone.

[woman speaking] I didn't
wanna do anything

to upset her.

Obviously, we had seen
her face.

So I thought, if she decided

she didn't want us
to identify her,

maybe she would
come back and shoot us.

[Larry] A lot of times
the victims have told me

is thoughts that are going
through their head is,

"Will I go home and be able
to see my family?"

"Will I see
my children again?"

"Will I see my spouse again?"

And then thinking
that they are going to die.

A pattern had developed

where they were hitting stores

with specific locations.

Always off an interstate,

at an outlet mall.

I started looking at all
the major highways

out of Atlanta.

It's a lot easier to go
to an outlet store,

rob it and get on the highway,

than it would be to drive
to a major city,

walk into a jewelry store,

and walk out
with a bunch of jewelry.

I started thinking,

"Where would they
be going next?

Where are the next locations

they may be going to target?"

It became important to me

to inform the industry

and push out as much
information as possible.

It was determined that
the jewelry store owners

and companies needed
to be made aware

of what was occurring,

to advise them

that the individuals
that may enter the store

and conduct the robberies

were armed and dangerous.

[reporter] FBI are today
hunting for a thief

who has robbed
millions of dollars'

worth of jewelry

from at least five stores
across the South.

[Larry] The fact that
we had robberies

in a number
of different states

allowed us to reach out

to the national level news.

[reporter] The woman
and her partner in crime

could be part of a wider gang.

[Larry] They started
naming her

the 'Diamond Diva.'

It caught a lot
of people's attention.

And it gave me
exactly what I wanted,

which was more exposure.

Unfortunately,

that type of pressure
also leads them

to possibly getting
desperate in situations

and making bad decisions.

That makes them
much more dangerous.

[Katy] And then
with the attempted robbery

in Macon, Georgia,

it just kind of reinforced

for Larry and I

that our work wasn't done.

And that this crew
was going to keep going.

[Larry] Upon a female
entering the store,

the manager immediately
recognized her

as the Diamond Diva

and thought they were
gonna be robbed.

At that point,

a delivery driver
entered the store,

at which point the female
decided to leave.

I immediately thought

that in the Panama City store,

they had been in
the day before.

And when she entered
the store the next day,

that's when she robbed it.

In the past,
I had not been in control,

I had been reacting
to what they were doing.

But now I figured

that if they were going
to come back the next day,

we were gonna be
ready for them.

[sirens wailing]

This was the first time

we were the ones
on the offensive.

And I would be able
to end this

right then and right there.

[Larry Borghini]
The commitment to being
an FBI agent is a strong one,

you must be available
all times.

Even though
it was New Year's Eve

I was not going
to let that stop me from doing
what needed to be done,

and that was
find these individuals
and arrest them.

I made arrangements to travel
up to Macon, Georgia

and there was somebody
I wanted to bring with me.

Larry called me, he goes,
"Do you wanna go up here
with me?"

I said, "Absolutely."

[Larry] We arrived
at the store
before 10 o'clock.

And then drew up
some scenarios as to,

what if they did come,
what was our plan?

This is a public market

and you have to constantly
be evaluating

the individuals that may
wander into a situation.

It also may pose
additional risk in that,

if you do engage
these individuals

they may try
and take a hostage
or something like that.

[Jason Jones] Larry and I
were in the manager's office

hoping that she would come in
and try to rob it while we
were sitting in the back room.

We anticipated if they kept
to their normal schedule,

within the first 20
to 30 minutes

they were gonna attempt
some type of robbery.

We waited, and waited,
and as the hours went by

I gradually realized
they were not coming.

Eventually, the operation
was called.

[Jason] Without a doubt
there was some disappointment
there because, I mean,

we had traveled all that way,
hopefully, to make an arrest.

So, I mean, yeah,
it was kind of quiet

because I was just hoping
we'd have been able
to end all this that day.

It was frustrating to know
that we hadn't been able
to arrest any individuals yet.

Just kinda of reenforced
for Larry and I

they were not gonna stop
unless someone made them stop.

By continuing to engage
in these crimes their thumbing
their nose at law enforcement.

They don't think
they can be found,

that has to have a level
of arrogance with regards
to this crew.

That means, they think
they can't be stopped.

It did make us
more determined.

[Larry] The sixth robbery
in Mebane, North Carolina

is about a 4 hour drive
from Atlanta.

This turned out to be
one of the key breakthroughs
in the case.

In several of the other
robberies she had some type
of disguise on,

but in this particular case
she was not concealing
any of that.

That gave us very good
surveillance footage
of her face.

Good Morning America
picked up the story.

[reporter] This morning,
new surveillance video

of the young woman now accused
in six holdups at jewelry
stores across the south.

Police say that here she
is just this Monday,
in the blue jacket,

calmly using keys
to unlock jewelry cases.

Then the national media
gave me the coverage

I was hoping we would
get on the case.

Film investigators say a man
and a woman have targeted
stores in five states.

[reporter] This morning,
jewelry stores throughout
the south are on alert

and offering a reward
for this woman's capture.

[Larry] On January 8th,

a couple days after
the news report,
I received a tip.

The caller wished
to remain anonymous,

but they were very sure
that the individual
in the media reporting

was the individual
that she was giving me
the name to.

And the caller
provided the name

Abby Kemp.

At this point,

I start coordinating
with the Atlanta office

on what our next steps
should be.

I wanted to verify
and vet the information
the caller had provided.

However, when I started
to make that call

Special Agent Fitzgerald
had news for me.

[Chad Fitzgerald] The location
data from the cellular
providers came in,

and a particular number
stood out like a sore thumb.

That number
was in all the areas
that I had data on.

Well, you're always excited
when you, uh,
get a solid lead.

I ran it through
various databases
and they were all reporting

that the phone number,
uh, was associated

with one individual
named Abigail Kemp.

Immediately started looking
at social media.

Abigail Kemp
was in the Atlanta area,

she had a maroon car,

and you could tell
from her face

that it was
the same individual
that was in the robberies.

It was obvious that she had
a party lifestyle.

She had a good life
and she was full of life.

Nothing in her past
lead me to believe
that she was violent.

Abigail had
advantages in life.

She came from
an upper-middle-class family,

she was smart,
she went to good schools,

she had many opportunities
available to her.

Honestly, Abigail was pretty.
She's a pretty, nice,
Caucasian girl.

The first time I seen her
we were all getting together
at the club.

Abigail Kemp showed up
with one of my best friends.

She was kinda
quiet that night.

I guess she was trying to,
like, maybe feel the room
so to speak or whatever.

That wasn't the only night
that she would meet us.

Abigail after the first time,
I guess when she felt
comfortable with everybody,

she showed a different side.

Long as she was sober,
she was Abigail.

When she got drunk,
she was Abby.

And then all of a sudden, bam!
She might just turn into
a nasty individual.

[Larry] The key
to the investigation became
getting to Abigail Kemp.

She would lead us
to the other individuals
we were looking for.

This was the first time
in the investigation
I felt really good

that the information
we had was solid.

[Katy Risinger]
All of a sudden things
were finally happening.

So it was exciting,
but it was not time
to celebrate.

So this wasn't gonna end
until we had everybody
in custody.

Agent Fitzgerald,
at that point,

starts attempting to determine
where Ms. Kemp is living.

The first place
we were gonna go
is where her family lives.

It was a nice area of Atlanta,
not the type of neighborhood
you'd expect, uh,

somebody that's going
into jewelry stores

and robbing the place,
uh, to live.

But the car was not there
and there was no indication
Abigail was either.

The next place we went to
was an apartment that she was
associated with.

After talking
to the management
company there

I determined that she had
just recently moved in.

Her car was parked, uh,
in a particular area,

so we had every reason
to believe she was there.

I started calling
some squad mates
to come help us.

Once we know
there's a warrant in place,

everybody got on their gear
and we approached
the apartment.

I knocked on the door,
announced FBI.

FBI.

Nobody opened the door.

The management company
had a spare key

so that we didn't have to,
like, ram the door.

I was very nervous,

you never know what's gonna
be on the other side
of that door.

There could be somebody
standing there with a gun
pointed at you.

I put the key in,
opened the door,

to see what was happening
on the other side.

-[knocking at door]
-[Chad Fitzgerald] FBI.

So as soon as I open the door

I immediately
see two individuals,
one female, one male.

I'm giving verbal commands
to Abigail Kemp

and the other individual
to put their hands up.

Abigail Kemp complied,

but that male
was not complying
with what I was saying.

I was able to grab
Abigail Kemp

while the rest of the team

was able to deal
with the individual that was
in that back bedroom.

[Larry Borghini] I start
getting some messages
on my cell phone.

And looking at the pictures

I was able
to quickly determine

Abigail Kemp was the female
we were looking for

and the male that they had
in custody was the male
in the first robbery.

[Chad] We were able
to grab his identification,

the name on the license
was Lewis Jones.

It's always great when you're
going after one fugitive
and you end up with two.

It's like putting on
a pair of jeans and finding
a $20 bill in the pocket.

[Larry] At this point,

I was happy
that we had gotten the people
we were looking for.

The next thing we needed to do
was to get somebody to talk.

Abigail Kemp was brought back
to Panama City.

When we first met her
she did not come across
as this cold,

calculating person who would
normally be engaged
in this kind of behavior.

[Larry] We started
from the beginning,

how she became involved.

We knew that if she was honest
she could provide really
strong evidence.

[Maurice Burke] Abby liked
nice things.

She didn't come
from a poor family,

he mom was pretty well-off,
her dad was pretty well-off.

But for out here they might
have been strict about money.

But Abby
liked to be flamboyant.

Expensive purses,
and, you know, jewelry,
things like that.

She wanted the nice cars.

So I think
that was her biggest

drive or

what pushed her
into some of the things
that came about.

[Katy Risinger] She had been
in a relationship,

but after breaking up
with her boyfriend
a switch flips,

and you start to see
her partying a lot more.

[Chad] She told a story
about how she had met
three guys,

a person she called Big Lew,

which was Lewis Jones
the other individual
at the apartment.

And also she mentioned
two other names that we
did not know,

Michael Gilmore
and Larry Bernard Gilmore.

[Katy] Lewis Jones
had been involved, in person,
in that first robbery.

But the Gilmore brothers
they were ghosts,
they were never on camera.

[Larry] She identifies
Larry Gilmore
and Michael Gilmore,

all as being associated
and involved in the robberies.

We were able to find
the Gilmores were financing
the whole operation.

And Larry Gilmore was the one
dealing with the individual

they were selling
the stolen property to.

[Katy] Now, we were on a clock
in order to get Larry
and Michael arrested

because they now know Lewis
and Abigail are in custody.

As so it's only a matter
of time before they start
destroying evidence,

destroying phones,
getting rid of weapons.

[Larry] As I sat
with Abigail Kemp

I went over
all the interaction that she
had with the Gilmores.

[Chad] She met them
while she was waitressing.

Apparently, they were
frequent customers
at this restaurant

and they befriended Abigail
by always sitting
in her section.

[Katy] They were big tippers.
They were friendly.

As she went and worked
at other restaurants

they started showing up
at those other restaurants.

[Larry] Abigail enjoyed
spending time

with the Gilmores
and Lewis Jones.

[Katy] She would
hang out with them,
they would kind of party.

And, eventually,
she ends up in a relationship
with Lewis Jones.

Their motivations
were always just money
and a lavish lifestyle.

[Larry] The way
she described it, it was
to be part of something.

Abigail enjoyed the role
and attention she received

as being part of that group.

[Katy] And, at some point,
Lewis Jones, Larry,
and Michael Gilmore

had just kind of
broached the subject of

would you like
to make some extra money?

It was almost like
whatever was missing
inside of her

is what opened the door
for them to be able
to convince her

to engage in this behavior.

My 35th glass.

[laughing]

[Katy] From her perspective,

their discussions
of the first jewelry store
robbery in Woodstock

she would be there,
but would just be present.

She would not be the person
with the weapon.

After that Woodstock robbery

they paid her
with some of the proceeds.

And Abigail, I think,
was able to see
just how easy it was.

So when they approached her
about taking a more
active role

she was interested in it.

She liked the money,
she liked the rush.

She fully admitted
that she was the one
going into the stores

and doing the robberies.

But she said she was
being directed or taught
how to do these things

from at least one,
if not all three
of the other guys involved.

[Katy] And then
when she tells you
that her face starts appearing

and she's concerned
because she's now in it.

But she's telling you
that these guys
are guilt tripping her

and trying
to bring back in it,
your gut reaction is

that's crap.

You liked
the feeling of control

that you had when you
went into those jewelry stores

and you put those employees
on their knees,

and you were able
to take what you wanted.

Most suspects that we arrest,
Abigail was no different,

um, they wanna minimize
their involvement in any crime
that they had committed.

She had a hard time
thinking of herself

as a bad person
who had done bad things.

[Larry] Eventually,
we established
that Michael Gilmore

and Larry Gilmore
owned a tint shop
in the Atlanta area.

Tint shops put tinting
on automobile windows.

Ms. Kemp had described
that that's where
she was trained.

They started having her
do things such as holding
somebody at gun point,

zip tying them,

and telling her
the stuff she needed to do
to commit the robberies.

I wanted to get
arrest warrants executed
as quickly as possible

to get our hands
on the Gilmores.

Anytime you make
an arrest of armed
and dangerous subjects

there's a lot
of risk involved.

So when it came
to the arrest of the Gilmores,
I wasn't gonna miss it.

Michael Gilmore
and Larry Gilmore
would often meet

at the tint shop
in the morning.

We had setup
hoping to catch both of them,

Michael Gilmore
showed up as expected,

but Larry Gilmore
did not show up,

he was at his residence.

We had a team at his residence
prepared to make an arrest.

And the call was made
to go ahead and execute.

At which point,
each team simultaneously
hit their targets.

In effecting those arrests
speed is of essence.

Michael Gilmore saw
the agents coming and knew
what was happening.

We're just plowing through
the doors knocking them
off their hinges

before he was able
to get to any weapons.

Larry Gilmore, he was actually
in the bathroom.

We told him not to move,
leave you hands
where I can see 'em,

and do not reach for the gun.

At which point the agents
were able to force entry
into the bathroom

and take Mr. Gilmore down.

[Katy] After the arrest
of Larry and Michael Gilmore,

we charged all four of them
with robbery related
to the Panama City robbery

on Reeds Jeweler.

We also charged them
with an overarching conspiracy

that pulled into the case
all of the other robberies
that they had committed.

But as hard as I tried,
I was unable to locate
any of the stolen jewelry.

[Katy] One thing
Abigail would say
is that after the robberies

she would turn around
and go back to Georgia,

while Lewis Jones, Larry,
and Michael Gilmore would
travel down to Miami

because that is where
they were actually
fencing the jewelry.

[Larry] We developed
the person they
were gonna sell it to

and what they
could market to him.

We were never able
to recover any of the jewelry

because they immediately
offloaded it after each
of the robberies.

[Katy] Lewis responds
the way he responded
at the time of his arrest,

he pleads not guilty.

The Gilmores
also pled not guilty.

Abigail pled guilty
to everything
in the indictment.

And then what she hoped for

was that her cooperation
would be taken
into consideration

by the government and give her
a lighter sentence.

Lewis Jones, Larry,
and Michael Gilmore
were all tried together.

I've been doing this now
for 13 - 14 years
and I think Abigail Kemp

was one of the best
cooperators I've had
testify in court.

She was remorseful.

She owned her bad behavior.

She owned what she had done
to those victims

and the families
that she had destroyed.

So I think she came across
very credible to that jury

that she was testifying
in front of.

We got guilty verdicts
on all counts.

Lewis Jones
and the Gilmore brothers

were all sentenced
to 32 years in prison.

Ms. Kemp did a lot
of bad things and she's
responsible for what she did.

She was the one that went
into the stores and held a gun
to people's heads.

She can never erase
what she has done,

but Ms. Kemp
did the right thing
by assisting the government.

In a case like this
a defendants decision
to cooperate

can really impact
the type of sentence
that they receive.

Ultimately what Abigail Kemp
was sentenced to
was 10 years in prison.

I did think it was lenient.

We were hoping
for around 15 years,

but the judge went lower
than we had hoped.

Abigail knew
how to play her cards.

She played 'em right.

Not only am I the sweet,
innocent girl

that was threatened
into doing some robberies,

but she says she was forced.

She said,
I was guilted into doing it.

Y'all didn't guilt her
into doing it, come on.

[Larry] It concluded
an investigation

which included six robberies
in five states

and a total of $4.5 million
of jewelry stolen.

These individuals
did a lot of bad things,

they committed
a lot of violent crimes.

Fortunately, we were able
to take them down.

I just hope the victims
got some closure.
I really do.
