As a farmhouse.

The original part dates back
To the 13th century.

Probably the last 200, 300
Years, it's been a pub.

He's reputed to sit there
With two red setter dogs

And watch over the place,
As a bailiff would do.

He gets a bit annoyed when
He sees things he doesn't like.

The bar's had a few things
Happen over the years.

The poltergeist throw things.

I haven't seen the ghost itself.

One of the previous landlords
Put a cigarette in the ashtray

On the edge of the bar.

It flew out and landed
Two or three feet away.

I've never seen a cigarette

launch itself
Out of an ashtray before.

The glasses have smashed
On the floor.

They kind of just fall.

I've been behind the bar,

And you do have this cold,
This sensation that happened.

I started talking to it,

Deliberately just saying "Hi"
To it.

Of consciousness.

And she said she wasn't sure
If his first name was will,

But she gave me a last name
That she thinks could be him.

With a thermal-imaging
Camera.

Right at the front door,

We actually can see where drafts
Would be coming through.

We noticed that there was
A little bit of blue

That was coming in
From under the door.

At that point,
We were satisfied

That that's an alternative
Possibility

For maybe someone
Feeling a cold spot.

Makes sense, really.

Is that definitely what happens
Every time?

No. But it was a possible
Explanation,

And that's what
We're looking for.

At all?

'cause I've heard a lot
About will.

Barry was sitting near
The bar.

He's having a conversation,

Trying to get will
To communicate with him,

And he feels two hands
On his shoulders

Pushing him back down.

We had this little guy--

And it's almost like
A motion sensor.

If anything that has
An electromagnetic field

Passes by it,
It goes off.

One of the theories

Is, as a ghost
Manifests itself,

It actually gives off a
Different electromagnetic field.

It wasn't just an alarm
For us.

It actually almost became a tool
Of communication.

We set this meter up,
And we set a camera up.

So, at this point,

They started having

They were trying to just have
A casual conversation

With "Will," you know, in hopes
Of possibly getting the meter

people have got married here.
They've been christened here.

they've died here.

if you think about the number
Of residents that has been here,

that's an awful lot of deaths
In this very house.

okay. So, this is
Our canterbury suite.

this is one of
Our guest bedrooms.

and what kind of reports of
Activity do you have in here?

well, we had a guest
That stayed in here

That said she could see orbs
Floating around in the ceiling

As she was lying
In the bed.

And there's also been reports
Of noises-- knocking noises.

Okay. So, where are we

To the farmhouse

We heard
The ghost speaking,

And we distinctly heard a voice

Looked into it,

We discovered that there was
A farmer that lived here

Who actually shot himself

In the dairy
Out the back there.

And the last words that he said
To his wife were, "I will."

Occupants of the house

Would walk into the room,

And you could see that somebody
Had lain on the bed,

but the room hadn't been used,
Or the bed hadn't been used

since it was made that morning.

Any theory
On who it would have been?

Yeah. We believe
That it's the same guy

That you can hear downstairs
Saying, "I will, I will,"

And the guy that shot himself
In the dairy.

Right. That same connection.

It's actually called
The dering woods,

But most people refer to it
As the screaming woods

Because of the noise
That it makes.

And there's a strange, eerie,

So it kind of unsettles people.

Into all these sightings
And experiences.

Was to create a light source

It's diffusing the light

An alternative explanation,

We hear what sounds like
A scream from way back,

Deeper into the woods.

So, within about 30 seconds,

This place lives up
To its name, huh?

Andy: we proceeded to walk
Further into the woods,

And we continuously heard
The screams in the distance.

Some people believe that people
Have gone missing here,

And their loved ones
Are still out here

Screaming and looking
For them.

That's kind of open.

We figured this would be
A good point to stop

At one point, it sounded like
It was 10 feet away from us,

If it was some kind of animal?

What happened to us yet

And it sounded too consistent.

On what activity

In certain areas,

Bring out our equipment,

And what we initially

Is disprove the stories
You're telling us.

And if we're unable
To disprove it,

Then we're possibly left
With something paranormal.

In the canterbury room,

We went to look for the orb
Activity that had been reported.

So we walked by
With a flashlight

Outside by the window.

And then the light
Comes through,

You get these interesting,
Odd-looking lights

That seem to shine and dance
On the ceiling.

We could very easily see

Where it would look like
Orb activity.

One of the other areas
That we looked at

Was the unusual sounds
Coming from the barn.

One of the pieces of equipment
That we use

Is a thermal-imaging camera

That shows everything
In heat signatures.

When we were going
Through there,

One thing that we did notice

Was there were rats
Hanging around in there,

Crawling up the sides
Of the barn and everything.

Without a doubt,

It was making some very
Interesting sounds.

You had reported to us
That you had heard "I will."

We set up
A wireless microphone

With the hopes of picking up
Some sort of voice.

But when we went through
All of the sound,

There was nothing there.

But we did find something very
Interesting under the stairs.

We have a device that we can use
To measure magnetic fields.

Extremely high
Electromagnetic fields

Can make people think they have
Heard something,

Even seen something,
Smelled something.

So the possibility exists

That the high emf caused you
To believe you heard a voice.

So, what do you think
About that idea?

Yeah, I can understand
How you're saying

That it's the emf thing
That is making people

Think they're hearing.

Yeah, I can see that.

We're not saying that that
Is the only explanation,

But we're saying that that
Is a viable one.

See if we can't pick up
Heat signatures

Of the kind of animal that would
Have caused the noise.

Well, at that point,

We heard what we thought
Was footsteps approaching.

Here's the trick, though--

We had the thermal camera
With us

That should pick up
Any animal

Because of the heat the body
Is giving off.

So we weren't able
To pick that up.

The next thing you know,

We heard it about five feet
To our right.

All of this time, we're going
Back and forth with the thermal,

Trying to figure out what kind
Of animal is causing the noise.

Are we positive that we heard
An animal? No.

Given the fact that we were
Using the thermal

The entire time
And we've got nothing,

It seems like something odd
Is really going on here.

Our investigators

What our team did is research

To look at what types of animals
Might be in this area.

Let me play this one for you,
First of all.

This is actually a recording
Of a vixen, a female fox.

[ growls ]

Now we can compare that
To what the girls captured.

That's a noise
I've heard a lot.

Okay. Youhave heard that.

When barry and brian went out,
They picked up this.

My gut feeling's

To a bird.

To me, there's a difference
Between paranormal,

Meaning like a ghost
Or a spirit,

That's unexplained.

The screaming woods is
Unexplained phenomena.

Does that make it paranormal?
Not to me.

And I understand what
You're saying about the woods

And the noises and the animal
Noises and things,

But do you think that there's
Ghosts here at elvey farm

Based on what you've seen,
What you've experienced?

Basing it on
What we have to do,

The evidence we were able
To collect,

We weren't able to get
Any hard evidence of
Paranormal activity.
