the Yukon mining season.

and a half million dollars opening up

ground at the massive mud mountain.

Home to a whopping 8 ,000 ounces, Parker
has yet to hit gold.

In a bid to cover his corn, his other
claims will lead to up production.

So Parker has a plan.

We're not going to have a successful
season unless both wash plants get up

running.

Sluice fruit just got moved down to
Stewart's ground, which is good. It's

up. It's loosing and making money. It's
washing wrong.

It's doing its part.

Now it's just a matter of getting big
red.

fired up at the airstrip, and we need to
start getting some revenue in.

The plan is to concentrate his forces at
the airstrip cut and pull a total of 3

,000 ounces from the ground.

Leaked from Parker's frenemy, Tony
Beach, there are some unique causes to

navigate.

The deal we've got with Tony is a little
bit weird on the old royalty front, so,

like, on the ground by the airstrip,
and...

15 % on the first 1 ,500 ounces, and
then it goes up 5 % every 1 ,500 ounces

after that per plant. I don't understand
the rationale behind it. Whatever, I've

argued it for years.

They don't budge on it, so I'm done
talking to a wall about it.

To dodge paying the higher royalties,
Parker's crew have been tasked with

swapping out the wash plants at the
airstrip.

once they hit the 1 ,500 ounces mark.

Tony's thinking that we'd never go to
all the extra steps here to play musical

wash plants, but if that's what he was
thinking, he definitely doesn't know us

very well.

Last week, wash plant Sucifer hit its
target of 1 ,500 ounces at the airstrip.

It was then shut down and moved to the
newly opened promised land.

There, a further 1 ,500 ounces must be
mined.

to get Park a buck to Mud Mountain.

Our big push right now is to get Big Red
over here and get it all set up.

Once it finishes here at the airstrip,
we're going to move Big Red over to Mud

Mountain. You know, that's where Brendan
and I have done this so many times. We

had a really good system down. Well,
obviously, he isn't here with us this

trained up. He doesn't have very much

Big Red is definitely my favorite wash
plant.

I've been around it a lot of years.

It's nice that he's a younger guy and
he's got his ideas and ways that he

to do things.

But it just takes lots of years of
experience and lots of doing things

figure out how to do it. In this plant,
it's very top -heavy, way more top

-heavy than sluiceper. So you just
really got to watch the camber and the

If this plant gets over the edge, it's
going to want to keep going that way.

with all this weight up top, how tall
this plant is, it's got a pretty good

chance of going over.

All in all, just nice, slow, steady.

And the last thing we want to do is
tweak this wash plant. Well, let's go

It's not the best pace we've ever run.
All we can do is just keep hammering as

much pay through the plant as we can, as
efficiently as we can.

We've got the ground here now to run
without too much effort.

And we've been focused for the majority
of our effort on this real deep ground

because it's going to be an expensive

But I'm going to sink everything I own
into getting down to that ground.

And if I don't get anything back out of
it, I wouldn't say that my margins are

tight. I would say that that's been to
me. I might as well go home and pack

everything up.

We'll be able to afford my house.

And I'll never come up to the Yukon

a pretty important one.

It's probably in the tailings pile

We'll be shutting down until we fix

All the dirt's just coming out of the
pre -walk, and it's just falling between

the pre -walk and the plant.

With no mechanic in the team, it's down
to Rick to assess the damage.

there's no obvious, you know what I

there's got to be a piece, you know,
that goes over.

Why can't it put together what this is
supposed to look like?

For the life of me, I can't remember how
this is supposed to look.

From Lower Duncan Creek, Rick Ness is in
shutdown mode.

I don't see anything.

The whole thing shifted back and down.

Oh, so it's got to be all... There's no
piece missing, just the whole pre -wash

moved backwards.

So shouldn't there be pins?

Yeah.

That's why we couldn't find anything up
there, like any fresh breaks or

anything. Yeah, we're not missing a
piece out of the pre -wash, it's the

pre -wash moved back, because the pins
fell out and the whole thing fell

backwards. You'd think that they'd be
right here.

They found its way back today, but those
pins could have been gone for weeks.

The plant can't run until the missing 9
-inch steel pins are replaced.

Cruzy, can you come down to the plant,

With no mechanic, it's up to Chris to
fix the plant.

Yeah, the whole pre -wash fell back.

You just need to make some pins, right?

Yeah. I mean, there's no pins in sight.
They could have been gone for weeks.

Nothing's actually broken. We just have
missing pieces. So we need to find some

things to put back in there and put back
into place.

But it is downtime.

We don't need that.

I can't afford anything right now.

With a breakdown like this, I mean,
probably only be a few hours, but these

things add up, man.

Every single one of them is just making
it harder and harder to hit 2 ,000

ounces.

Just got a piece of round stock for a
new pin.

We found another one that we can use.

Luckily,

I have the welding experience because
nobody else seems to be very well versed

in welding.

Rick must now reposition the pre -wash
factor within touching distance of the

shaker deck.

Cruisy, I count on him. It takes care of
the machine. It takes care of the

plant. He's kind of turned into a bit of
a utility guy for me, and that's really

nice. I couldn't be happier with how
that's working out.

right now. It needs to be running again
by the end of the day, so I can't piss

up. That'll make it a big repair, so got
to be very careful here.

Our watch plant's finally here. It's
been a long road getting that bad boy

Fred Lewis and his crew are nine weeks
in.

But only now are they about to fire up
their new 60 -yard -an -hour walk plan.

I'm excited to just get it in place and
just start moving dirt.

going to get caught up real quick.

If we just take that work ethic that we
have, you know, from the military and

everything else, come out of here pretty
rich, man.

I feel like a whole misfit team has just
gotten their momentum. We have a solid

crew, and we're doing this for a better
life because of the sacrifices we're

making right now.

To get his wash plant finally tuned to
catching gold, a favor has been called

in. Where is this camp supposed to be,
Freddie? Well, he said it was 45 miles

out of Dawson.

Answering the call is gold recovery
expert Freddie Dodge and mechanical

honestly, we figured you'd be running by

We're about a month behind.

You don't have much of the season left,
really.

No, but we're looking at this in
positive light as we put a lot of work

this season to get it ready. We might
have a short season.

We've got pay waiting.

We've got the equipment. We've got the
manpower.

These last couple of really important
steps that it's great that you guys come

now. I can't wait for you guys to see
it.

Have you seen these kiwi plants before?

So those will last the entire season. We
don't have to worry about any screens

going bad.

It's simplified compared to what we had
last season. I like it.

Well, so this is the plant. I'd really
love to show you guys the claim. I've

really been itching to show you guys the
claim. Yeah, let's take a look at it.

Let's take a look at it. It's a bit of a
walk.

So this will be our last pond.

But this is probably where we'd have to
pull our water from before we could

recycle.

So right here, we're developing our
second pond.

I've got some pillars, and we're going
to raise it up to be about this level

eventually once we get enough rock.

My advice to you is you've got multiple
issues.

Well, we're looking at the amount of
water in your creek.

And you don't have enough water to run
your plant.

It's a glorified ditch is what you've
got going on here.

This is a mud puddle.

This is going to turn into a milkshake.
The second you have a milkshake here,

it's going to go to your plant, right?
Yeah. You're pulling the water out of

here. So it's going to go to your plant,
plug up all your screens, plug up all

your riffles.

This water is going to silt up on you so
fast, you'll literally only have a few

hours of sluicing before you'll have to
shut down.

So what do you guys think the solution
is?

So this road right here, what's this
road for?

This is our original road.

We're the only road we had access on in
the beginning, but now we have access on

the side. Now we have access on the
side. So can we eliminate this road?

And just really widen this pond out. You
do not have enough water. And then

you're going to need another pond below
this one to clarify your water even more

before you put it in the creek. Right
now, you don't have jack for water

storage.

Freddie and Juan's plan is to move the
access road in the middle of the claim

feet over to the other side.

They'll dig three ponds to allow silt
from the wash plant to settle.

providing clean water for souping and
ensuring no soup is discharged

into the creek.

That's the only way you're going to
actually be able to run.

And we're not trying to give you news,
but... No, no, no. This is why I had you

guys here. We're like, well, we'll run
it and we'll see how long it's going to

last and we'll adapt, but... It's going
to last about four hours.

That's nowhere near enough.

Because right now you're... Okay.

Well, it's great having Freddie and Juan
here.

However, they've given us a list of
tasks to do that are going to take us

another week and extremely frustrating.

It is what it is. They think we need
more ponds. I'll dig more ponds, but

now I got to get this loosened.

It's a pain in the ass considering that
we are like literally done.

Well, mount this down so I can get
Christopher back here. Yeah. And we'll

get him to come up to here.

and drop you one more load in that. And
what do you want done with that? Well,

first, build the dam up so you can
finish it, and then make this nice and

smooth, and then look and see if the
water level is high enough. If not,

recirculating in zones one and

two.

So we'll need to flood that area.

So what's the best way to charge the
pond?

Well, we've been fighting all season to
keep zones one and two dry.

Right. I mean, remember at the start of
the year when the... wall blue out there

what would it take to dig through that
section or is it just going to bleed in

pretty quick well i mean it's a band
-aid with it's barely hanging on over

if we go over there and help it i think
it'd probably start coming in there

pretty good it sounds like that's going
to be the fastest from my standpoint

you're under a lot of time pressure
because big red

have an appointment with Mud Mountain
that is going to come up in a hurry.

And you need to try to pound out 1 ,500
ounces down there at the airstrip and

then get that plant moved.

Sluicifer's old pond, having leaped

patch that burned.

To release it, he'll dig down in the
hope of tapping into the groundwater.

and using it to flood the mined out cut,
providing a pond to feed Big Red.

Now at the start of the year we had an
issue with water leaking in from our

settling pond.

Right now we're just going to remove the
material that we used to plug this.

To help flood the cut, Mitch brings
Tyson back to the airstrip.

So in the spring, we stripped this cut.

When we were stripping it, we pushed
into an old pond. So essentially what

trying to find is the toe of the pond.

We're looking for a lot of water flow
here.

When I plugged this off, it was flowing
like a river.

That's more like it.

That's what we're looking for.

With the water source now unplugged,
it's just a question of time

and letting nature take its course.

At Lower Duncan Creek, Rick Ness and his
skeleton crew are still running

hundreds of yards of gold -rich pay dirt
through their trusted wash plant.

The problem with that is we've all had
to chip in and try to make it work, and

having Carl here would be a lot better
than it all being passed to me.

Pretty big shoes to fill.

Everybody's wearing a lot of hats these
days.

Looks like a lot of big rocks in the
plant.

That shouldn't be getting through.

Cold. Even though there's a lot of water
in there, I can see big holes in the

deck.

Once again, Rick Ness has ground to a
halt.

Holes in his steel screen deck are
allowing rocks to drop into the sluices.

Well, it's not like a typical, you know,
watch plant where you can just replace

the screen. It was modified for this
ground, which is great because it'll

all the boulders.

But it's going to have to take out and
put a new one in, right?

You know, it's a huge job.

This plant really needs to keep going
for a couple of weeks at least.

Right now it doesn't look like it wants
to go a couple hours.

Let's throw a band -aid on and keep
running it.

Half -miner, half -mechanic Chris Cruz
is tasked with getting the plant back up

and running.

That's the problem right there.

Oh!

I mean, obviously we've got a problem
here. It's letting in too big a rock and

holes, so I'm thinking we should just go
all the way across with it.

Yeah, you know like this seems pretty
good on the outside and the first six

inches Yeah, and that would you know
something to tie into there same on that

side Yeah, come in six inches and give
us a little bit of We're not losing all

of that surface area Yeah, the screen
that's worn. Oh, we knew that I just I

Don't want to shut it down yet. This is
a big job to replace

The plates will cover the holes with
welded steel plates, preventing larger

rocks from getting into the wash plant.

But it comes at a cost.

When we put patches in, we lose the
surface area of the punch plate.

So there's potential of gold going right
out the end of the top deck.

I'm a bit concerned about our loss of
surface area on the punch plate by

covering up with a solid plate.

Rick made that call, and it's his call
to make, so we'll go with it.

Every minute that we're not fluking
means every minute we're not catching

so time is of the essence.

My body feels like I'm about 10 days
away from being 50.

As you can see, it fit in here perfectly
the way I needed it to.

It's time for me to clean up my mess and
get back pouring dirt in this thing.

I'm just glad to be up and running
again.

You know, all this downtime is hurting
us bad.

It's all adding up. It's hurting our
chance of hitting 2 ,000 ounces.

The challenge of keeping them both
