she said we could go

with a donor egg.

where the church is.

It's in Florida.

My youth group was in Oklahoma,

he started the church
in Florida.

That's what I'm getting at,
so you started,

and then he moved to Florida.

He moved and a lot of us--

- A lot of you followed him.

But the longer I was there,

the more controlling things got.

- So he, like, tells people

who to marry, who to date,

- who to be friends with.
- Get outta town.

Absolutely.

I remember casually
saying to the pastor,

"You know, I saw my older sister
this weekend,

and I told her, you know, that I
was kinda feeling blah and blah,

about blah-blah-blah."

"You would make your sister
believe that being with Jesus

is not the greatest life
imaginable?

You're not leading her
to The Lord?"

Before you know it, you're
isolated, you're controlled,

you're cut off from people.

Financially isolated, too.

Well, you're giving money
to the church.

It absolutely controls you.

My whole agenda became
not to get in trouble,

not to be called
into the pastor's office

to talk about
what the [bleep] ever.

After about a year and a half,
I started to, like...

...think for myself,
talk to people outside the group

where my parents are saying,
"This is a cult!"

Like, I eventually just had
to get the balls to leave.

Halloween! I go to church

to my sister's house in Orlando.

they looked up to you."

wanted to go

make something of myself
and my life.

I'm going to get my degrees,
I am gonna make my own money,

and I'm going to help people.

And that is what
I'm going to do.

I think about everything I
wouldn't have done with my life,

if I had stayed, you know?

That's what's crazy to me.

Is I could've just

and following that man,

and I would still be there.

So, I just wanted to get through
my surgeries

and I almost rescheduled
my second one

and I said,
"I cannot go through-"

That again, yeah.

And here I am, I was like...

Oh, that weekend was awful.
