at the time and I remember

So much of everything:

landscapes, people, sense
of freedom.

We walked into a grocery store
and I was speechless. So much stuff!

The consumerism here is insane.

Yeah and I was visiting
from a place with food shortages!

We didn't
have access to cool things but...

I remember being a really
happy kid.

And that's why you
came back and stayed?

Because of the grocery
stores and overconsumption?

Why it feels like Asia
here. It’s this poverty gap.

us to make these very intense relationships so quickly.

I don't know about you,
but I feel like the older I get

the fewer
of those meaningful connections I make.

You know there's these
lines of a Rosetti poem

that I haven't been able
to shake since I read them.

for if the darkness and
corruption leave,

a vestige of the thoughts

better to smile and forget

than to remember
