Homewreckers.

I'm Lucy.

And I'm Selena.

And today, we have a very special
episode where we are going to be

redesigning this spooky 18th century.

Selena, it is not that spooky.

This is nothing we haven't worked with
before. We might keep some stuff and we

might get rid of some of the old stuff,
but nothing we can't do.

Well, we'll see. We have a week since we
sent our client and her husband away on

a very romantic special vacation.

They're going to get a great surprise
when they come home. And it's probably

going to take around a week, but it
might take longer. Maybe more. Maybe

shorter, depending on what we plan on
getting rid of. So we're super excited

start on this house today.

Awesome. Come on, guys.

As you can see, this gives me a late 85.

Super vintage.

Lucky for this couple, we know how to
fix a mess when we see it.

Mean and totally out of style. This
place is begging for a renovation.

Now, let's walk you guys through our
process.

First things first, planning.

Oh my gosh, do you feel that?

It feels a little muggy and foggy. Yeah,
my glasses are getting skinny, guys.

Yeah, I don't know if something's in the
air vents or what's going on, but we'll

definitely have to do a little bit of
inspection.

We're going to fix that for sure.

This is our contractor, Nicky. He's one
of the best.

We walked around the house, and there's
definitely a need for something. Tearing

everything down. I don't know about
tearing everything down. Well, we're

to decide if we want to fix it or if we
want to throw it away.

I think we should fix it. I know Selena
has other thoughts, but... We'll see

what you guys think.

That was a lot of work it could do.

Well, speaking of work, we can get
started on that door right there. I

it's got a lot of rot in it, so... Oh,
let me go check that out.

Yeah, I was looking at that earlier,
Nikki.

I think that's a hopeless cause.

You're definitely right. I feel like
it's a little weak right here. I feel

there's some rotted wood. So let me get
some measurements for a new door.

Oh, boy. And after that door, we're
going to have to go and check the doors

in such great shape. I did a little walk

through myself, and we got...

Our work cut out for us. Yeah, we
definitely do. There's definitely some

wood under here that we're going to need

soon be no more once we destroy it.

Fucking hate this rock wall. I hate
looking at it. I hate saying it. I hate

It's such a good feel to the home and
such a vintage feel without it being

remember them saying they want to keep
some elements from the home together.

You know, they do like this rock wall,
no matter how much it is. It may be a

piece of it, and the curtains are going
to need to be changed. Yeah, 100%. I

like the fireplace.

Don't get me wrong.

But if they're trying to maintain that
sort of rock wall, ugh, terrible word,

that rock wall sort of chimney
situation, maybe we can sort of replace

sort of...

marble rock sort of mantle.

Oh my god, what an amazing modern idea.

So we just put nice fresh wood right
over here and painted a sort of neutral

tone. And that would keep the cost down.
Exactly, a great day job, just a

reorganization. So I think I remember
when I last did a walkthrough that there

was a little bit of a...

leakage happening? Yeah, there was a
hurricane previously.

Unfortunately, guys, the family did get
affected by the recent hurricane.

Very sad.

Very sad, but we are going to make sure
we fix that.

It's our job. So let's go check it out.

I mean, we are trying to be cost
-effective, so what do you think the

solution for this is?

You know, I love nothing more than to
tear this down.

Who knows what problems there are? Could
be mold, mildew, bug nest. I don't

know. Who knows what's up there? We
really need to find someone to start

inspecting. It's probably affecting the
air quality, too. That's why it's so

muggy inside. I mean, it's not good.

It's definitely not good.

could give him a call and, I don't know,

I might be able to get him to bring over
some supplies.

That would be great. And it would keep
the cost way down. Yeah, we're really

trying to be efficient when it comes to

We did hire the best for a reason, guys.

Well, you know, he does have a lot of
stuff. He just made a previous job to

the cost down.

Yeah, it would be awesome to find a
vendor where we could get, you know, old

wood supplies, whatever we need for the
roofing without having to, you know,

make it too complex.

That's what I'm hoping, yeah. I just
want to say again, guys, how special of

episode this is and how lucky we are to
have Nikki here helping us with this

project and how happy we are to fix this
home for this family. It's amazing

seeing what he's been able to do for us.
It really is. It really is. So thank

Well, you know, that's all about being a
good contractor. I have connections to

make this more affordable.

And we have a great team.

There's a reason this show does so well.
So nothing we can't fix. And you guys

are part of that.

I do think, however, we could talk about
paint.

Because after this is going to get
fixed, and of course we're going to fix

Oh, you know, we could just take care of
that at cost. That's not a problem.

always thinks we're going to run out of

but somehow we always make it work,

what I'm thinking for the rest of
outside, this waterfall, guys, it's got

I think we could do a nice, lovely
grotto that the whole family can enjoy

where it was.

The waterfall isn't the issue.

But the issue is the rock situation.

It looks like they tried to make a
grotto, but it stopped halfway through.

I feel like we could really update it.
And I have some ideas when it comes to

the gardening system. If I could see
that. Yeah, please. Please.

I was looking at the gardening and the
tennis court, and it could definitely

a little bit of a reno.

I really think if we just add some flora
and some new trees, tear down these old

rotted trees, I think it would really
help.

I can probably find a gardener. A nice
pressure cleaning for the tennis court.

And maybe even the tiles. We don't even
maybe need new tiles out here. I know. I

was looking at them. They look pretty.

We can do a deeper inspection,
obviously, but I think just a pressure

a little bit of paint would really make
a difference.

I have plenty of pressure cleaner
equipment over at my place. I can bring

over. And as far as the rock, as far as
the pavement, a bunch of other stuff,

I'm sure we can get all of that from
Rock and Roll Rock Quarry.

Yeah. Perfect.

And they're very cost -effective when it
comes to renos, especially a project

like this where the family has, you
know. And they're local, and you guys

how much we love to support local when
doing our show.

Let me take a look at these notes real
quick. Yeah, what do you think? Should

add anything before we move on from the
outside, before, you know, figuring all

that out?

Let's maybe take stock of a few of these
items.

get it so we can make this the most time
efficient.

And you know what? Because they were
affected by the hurricane, I noticed

they do have kind of a grill workout
thing out here. So maybe we could

them with an updated grill and an
updated workout bench. That would be

that. They're not even expecting it,

A great surprise would really make this
family happy.

Let's go take a look at what I've been
fixing, yeah? Yeah, let's do it. I'm

going to look at the next room, and I
think we got it, guys.

So what I was thinking was keep it
classic, American 60s, mid -century.

It's a timeless look. Pause, pause,
pause. Before we address motif, can we

address... The giant fucking elephant in
the room. That's the rock wall.

Because I know, you know, it's an attack
to the garage.

Yeah, unfortunately, this wall separates
the house from the garage.

So if we take that down, we're going to
have a whole other shit show.

Okay, then we'll talk about bookcases
later. But sorry, Lucy, as you were

saying. Look, I know you want the modern
look, but I was looking at some paint

samples and plump, hairy, these reds,
these deep colors.

I just really feel like the family would
resonate with it and just a comfortable

space. But what were you thinking?

You see, I feel the same way. I want the
family to be comfortable and happy in

their space.

And I want everything right in the place
up. So I think that's why a modern

look.

Gray scale, some marble in here. That
could do lovely for this home and the

spaces that we have.

I hear what you're saying, but what if
we keep it a little modern, but just add

some pasta color, maybe get the decor
around, maybe keep it kind of classic,

too contemporary.

Ladies, we're going to have to come up
with a decision.

I don't know if we will this time,
Nikki.

And I don't know why we can't ever
agree.

Sometimes we should just keep things
simple, Lucy.

Look, this is why they hire us. Because
we have two different minds and when we

come together, we make beautiful homes
together.

What we ultimately need to decide is
what's the most cost effective.

That's true, too. And that's why I'm
worried about the pops of colors.

Look, I know they take more code.

I know they take longer to dry. And the
range is more expensive, viewers. Don't

forget that. When you buy in grade
scale, you can buy in bulk and you can

for cheaper.

Look, I know it's a little more costly,
but the outcome, I think the family will

love it.

And so I know for a fact that the wife
really enjoys some color, some

design.

With the architectural build of this
place, there's already great roofing to

keep the mid -century look.

So I really think we should just add it
in.

My only concern is that talking modern,
that's simple.

Because we have simple furniture, we
have simple colors, we're not doing a

of molding. If we're talking more
classic, like Americana.

I would imagine is what you're kind of
getting at. Yeah, exactly. Well, then we

need to take into account that it's like
molding.

Yeah. And that alone is way more, it's
way more.

I understand what you mean, century. But
I understand what you're saying.

Wow. The pops of color, and that's why I
love this millennial pink, you know?

Exactly. It's modern, but at the same
time, it does lean into the white

for art.

And ours, as you can see by the rock
wall, I know you hate the rock wall, but

you just trust me. You know what we
could do?

There is a solution to the rock wall.

What if we had a bookshelf on both sides
and we could put a portrait right in

the middle?

So not to tear the rock wall down, we
can decorate it better. A lovely

of the husband and wife after their
romantic trip.

I think that would be beautiful.

And I know they love the artwork.

So I feel like they would just
absolutely love that.

Yeah. They're very art forward.

And I feel like the design and the... I
agree. And I don't think... That's some

of the charm in this house. And that's
some of the reasons why we take on these

cases with good bones.

It's because you want to keep original
elements and... I know.

And I feel like... I think that's why we
work so well together, and why they

always put us on these jobs, because the
outcome is just a perfect mix of

everything. You're not in this white
box, but it still has the modern factor.

Right. The modern amenities, of course.

I was looking at these colors, and I
feel like a good scheme would keep in

the millennial pink.

Yes. I was thinking we add a few grays
and whites.

I agree. And you know what? Some pops of
blue and purple.

That would be really great.

Now we're figuring this out. I think
we're finally coming up with a game plan

that works for us.

Alright, so... What's the next room?
What are we going to put this on?

We're going to have to take a look at
the bathroom.

Okay. What's wrong with the bathroom?

I thought we were keeping the bathroom
the same, right?

It's modern. It's beautiful.

So the bathroom...

Unfortunately, it's not going to be
something as simple as flapping a fresh

of paint on.

There are a lot of trouble.

Did the inspection come back and it
wasn't too good?

Well, there's a crack in the tub.

There are roots coming up to the pipes
to the toilet.

It's going to take some... Are we going
to have to pull all the plumbing out and

start fresh? Or is it that bad?

That's what I'm worried about. So I
think what we're going to do is take a

And this is just a reminder.

Save your pennies for a rainy day.

You never know what's going to happen.

it. How to fall for it way too much. I

to be heavy, a lot of material.

Yeah, we should really focus on our core
problem, and then if we have more in

the budget, we'll definitely add it in.
Yeah, because we want to redecorate this

house for sure, but there are a lot of
repairs, replacements too, we're going

need to do it first.

in that tub and see if you can loosen

some things, get it off the pipe, you
