West, my father said, we're moving to

Israel. In Israel, there's no college.
You go right into the army. And I was

like, it's just not happening.

I loved living there for my junior year,
but nothing was going to change my

mind. My mother drove me to the airport
in Tel Aviv, and that was it.

My dad had no idea that I wasn't coming
back.

We also, you think we was happy you live
in us? Yeah, we miss you.

I live with friends of the family.

That decision that I made to leave my
family.

Very trying times.

I love my kids, but I don't want you

two years, I'm going to be in college.

Here you have stones that tell the story
of the Holocaust.

Where were you during the Holocaust?

I was born in Belgium, in Antwerp, in
1937.

The Germans invaded Belgium on May 10,
1940.

So our family fled into France because
the assumption was that the French

army... would stop the Germans.

It didn't happen that way.

The French collapsed.

They surrendered.

So we were stuck in France.

Being at this Holocaust memorial, I hope
that Joshua and Sophie are going to

have a deeper appreciation for their
lives.

And so in France, we went from one place
to another place.

We went from Saint -Gaudin to Toulouse
to Marseille.

And in Evian, we ran into a priest, a
Catholic priest.

How my mother met the Catholic priest, I
don't know. And he then arranged for us

to cross the border into Switzerland.

Their grandfather survived.

Their grandmother is a survivor. And I
think it's wonderful to come from a

family of survivors.

We stayed in Switzerland. Switzerland
was not at war.

But they separated the parents from the
children. And I went to a children's

home, me and my elder sister.

And we stayed in Switzerland until the
end of the war. For how long? Almost two

years. And then when the war was over,
the Swiss told us, you have to leave.

Because we were refugees, we went back
to Belgium.

I survived a terrible period, and I was
lucky enough not to be in a camp, not to

be in a ghetto, not to be on one of
those trains.

We were simply lucky.

That didn't happen. We wouldn't be here.

That's right. We all need to stick
together. Dad, stick together. Stick

with us.

I feel like I'm so unexperienced
compared to Saba. I'm like such a

jaffy kid. Oh, I'm so happy you said
that.

I kind of want to live in like somewhere
where I don't take things for granted.

It helps me see the importance of
family, obviously. You know, I learn new

things every time I hang out with Saba.

I think it's not only important to us,
to me, but I think it's very important

you that later on in life, when maybe
we'll no longer be here, you'll never be

able to recall the very fact.

that we can be so close together,
parents, children, and grandchildren.

As far as I'm concerned, that's enough

And she was like a future to me.

I watched those kids practically being
born. They've already been through so

much with their mother, and now they

Regardless of what's happening with you
and Teresa, in my personal opinion,

Jacqueline and Teresa will always have a
bond.

However mad I am at Teresa, however mad
she is at me, if she were to ever call

me, which I know she won't anyway, and
she needed me, I would be there. You

know, Friday, we'll all be together. Do

housewarming party on Friday?

I absolutely think Teresa will come. I
mean, listen, I'm sure she's emotionally

drained, but I know Teresa, it's no big
deal. She's a machine. She doesn't stop.
