when it comes to challenges.

We are now down
to a tribe of two.

And as you can see,
we have set up

a challenge
that is two v. two v. two.

numbers are really interesting?

into the game design
of Survivor 49.

at 14 players.

We just got here

due to Jake's
unfortunate evacuation,

but we're at 14 players.

kind of an odd duck, but I mean
that in the nicest way possible,

'cause I'm kind
of a weird duck, too.

And I vibe
with people like that.

So, I'm Alex, I'm 26,
and I've had

a total of one coconut the
whole time I've been out here.

the entire time? Whoa.

has just been tough out here.

You guys, like,

And for me,

provides that.

Just by looking like she's one
of my friends from back home,

she instantly looks like someone
who I can trust.

And I wanted to kind of tell you
to, like, give you my trust.

when I found out he had an idol,

And that might
sound kind of crazy,

but, like, I knew
within the first couple minutes

of meeting her and hugging her
and just looking, like, at her,

I'm like, "I feel like this
girl's gonna be my girl."

- I'm so excited.

Being the only member

of the new Kele
who's from the old Kele,

the numbers are kind of
in my favor,

because they can see me

whoever wants me can have me.

to the fact that

obviously, the two Uli members.

And if there was any shot
to be taken,

it just comes down to,
are we gonna go with Sage

or are we gonna go with Shannon?

But it was also the first night

I dreamt about my kids,
so that was tough.

Sophi's an incredibly loyal
family person,

and she's actually very fun

I just, I feel like I want
to get to know all y'all first.

with the two former Hina,

which are Jason and Matt.

- Kind of, like, where my head
is at, like, at the moment.

You know, my bonds on Hina
are very strong.

So, ultimately,

he's being upfront

And honestly,
even though I don't like

that he's super into

he's being honest about it.

I was talking
to a buddy of mine,

and he said,
"Dude, I'm late. I got to go.

I'm late for my job."

I said, "What in the hell job
do you have?"

He says, "Oh, I work
at the airport, and I get

flight benefits for life."

And I said,
"That's brilliant, man.

Are they hiring?" He's like,
"Yeah, I think they are.

Come on down.
I'll get you on."

Oh, my God.

I do think my interviewing
skills are coming

into play right now.

I mean, look,
I'm a naturally curious person,

but it also just happens
to serve me

really well in this game, too.

There's always more
to someone than meets the eye,

and I love digging into that.

So, have you always worked
at the airport?

No, I started at the airport
about 11 years ago.

That's funny you should ask.

I kind of... I kind of thought,

"Am I gonna, like, you know,

- keep it under my hat
or am I gonna tell anybody?"

Even though Matt might
seem like the old-time

loyal player,
I'm starting to think he's not.

My-my background is in finance.

Wow.

Wow. I would never have guessed.

I was a branch manager
for a brokerage firm for a bit

- and moved up from there.
- Wow.

Matt shared with us
that he used to be very high up

in the finance world.

And to me, that

raised a red flag.

Why weren't you gonna tell
us about your profession?

You're the first person
who asked,

"What did you do before that?"

And I wasn't gonna not tell you,

I was just waiting
for someone to ask.

than he's coming off.

And that is dangerous,
from my perspective.

I feel suspicious of him now.

Matt's super smart.

Did you hear
what his background is?

- Oh. ... Oh, yeah.
- He was high up.

- And, like, honestly,

like, you don't get
to be that high up

without being
a freaking sociopath.

- Yeah.

And I love him.

that he's very cutthroat.

who's not, like, a sociopath.

I was literally praying
for the two of you.

So here's the thing, right?

We're down in numbers.

There's not three tribes.
There's two tribes.

I have one person

from my original tribe

who wasn't
in my core alliance,

who I haven't talked a ton
of strategy with.

This is not
the ideal situation whatsoever.

So, I'm choosing
to see this as an opportunity,

because a huge part
of my strategy and my strengths

are my ability
to connect with people in a way

that people feel like the
connection is really authentic

because it is.
And naturally,

people want to work with people
they feel good with.

I just want you to know
everything you share with me

- is totally safe.

And I was just praying to God.
I was like, "God,

"I don't need
to be in the majority.

Just bring me to the people
I'm meant to be with."

- And when it happened,

I was just like, "Trust."

Shannon-- I've just always felt

good vibes with her.

From the moment we were
on the mat at the marooning,

I just felt like she had
this spiritual side to her,

um, that I connect with.

I just love
how God-centered you are.

that you're a mother.

- One of my best friends

from home is a mom, and
there's just a different level

- of compassion and depth.
- Yeah.

- Nice.
- So I came out here wanting
to work with a mom.

Yeah.

Tomorrow is the three-year
anniversary of my mom dying.

- And so I'm like,
"We're gonna..."

I was... I was like,
"We are gonna win for her."

- What's her name?
- Karen.

- She's still with you.
- Yeah, but I call her Kare.

Being without my mom has been

the hardest thing
that I've ever had to do.

She's the person I called about

for everything. Um,

my mom had a...

alcohol and pill addiction

that came from
a procedure that she had.

And three years ago,
I was on my way to work,

and my dad calls me.

And he says, "Baby, she's gone."

I knew that my mom was like
this superhero.

She had a master's,
she had a PhD.

She was a preacher,
she was an author.

Like, she had a perfect,
beautiful marriage,

two kids.

I mean, just so much love there.

And it still hit her.

Because addiction does not have
this target audience.

My mom was full of life,
every adventure.

Like, we traveled
everywhere together.

I did everything with her.

Like...

I literally lost
my best friend that day.

I swear, I'm not even lying,

she would have, like,
bought a ticket to Fiji with us

just to, like,
sneak and, like...

And to be, like...

We were...
Yeah, we were very close.

I'm like,
"Oh, I guess I'll have to go

- on trips with my husband now."
- Yeah, right?

At the end of the day,

I'm doing this for my mom.

- to walk up to this.
- Yeah, I thought there was

- literally nothing.
- I was expecting it
to be way worse.

- Nothing like
fire fast type stuff.
- Same. Yeah.

God gives his hardest challenges

- to his...
- to his strongest soldiers.
Yeah.

I would love to trust Shannon,

but I feel like Shannon's been
laying it on thick with

her spirituality
and religion here,

which-- no shade
towards that at all.

I just noticed,
like, she's talked about it

a lot more over here once
she saw everybody perked up.

I found faith, like, myself,

- and I found God, like, myself.
- Oh.

Wait. I love that.

And she just looks you
in the eyes

with those big blue eyes
and that smile.

It just makes you feel so safe
and comfortable.

- And Jesus says that, you know?
- Mm-hmm. He sure does.

And he even says, "Don't worship
me. Like, I'm also within you."

- And it's love.
It's really beautiful.
- Yeah, it's love.

Shannon is coming off
as more performative to me.

That's not to say,
outside of the game,

that she might not be
very genuine, but in the game,

I think she's
found a direct pathway

into everybody's
hearts and souls.

And I am more of a slow burn,

and I can't fake it.

I can't fake it, whereas I feel
like she can just put it on.

And I'm like,
"If I'm tired, I'm tired,

and my face is gonna
look how it looks."

I know.
Oh, my gosh.

So, I see her playing hard.

And it could be like
a, "Hey, it's you or me,"

with Shannon right now.

tribe members

to a series
of floating platforms,

where you will collect
large wooden cubes.

Once you have them all to shore,

one tribe member
must first transport

ten smaller cubes

across a single balance beam.

Then the remaining tribe members
will use a wooden plank

to transport
the larger wooden cubes

across two balance beams.

Once you have all the cubes
to the finish,

you will work together
to stack them 20 high.

First to finish wins immunity.

Safe from the vote.

We don't need this one.

Because the tribe that loses

is going to Tribal Council,
where somebody

will be the fifth person
voted out of Survivor 49,

and as a penalty for losing,
I will keep your flint.

At the end of the challenge,
I asked you,

And you were pretty honest
and said,

Yeah, I mean,
I think it's reasonable.

You look at the tribes.

There's still four former Uli
on this tribe.

And to be quite honest, we took
to Sophi kind of immediately.

We do feel like
Sophi is a part of us.

So it does put Jason and Matt

that the Uli Four
have taken you in?

It feels incredible.

You know, I've seen
the empathy from them,

from being on the tribe mats,
in the challenges,

and I gravitated towards that,

because I did feel like
a lost puppy for a while

and I feel great, you know?

was it immediately game on

It absolutely was.

And my approach was

to sell why they should keep me

over Jason or Sophi,

but at the time
I was making my case,

I had no idea that
Sophi had been taken in,

so, that is news to me.
