is that we move the location of the church.

making gambling legal.

This is Max's last Sunday with us.

He's moving forward with his recording career

and we wish him well.

You know I had a whole sermon planned for you today

but sometimes it's better to bring it right out

than beat around the bush.

Ladies and gentleman, while I'm grateful to see you here today

I'm afraid I have bad news.

The bank has sold our church to a group of investors

and I'm sad to say

that they will be moving us out next week.

This will be my last sermon.

As I understand it this building is to be demolished

and a new church is to be built at a new location.

Now as many of you know my own personal loss

has taken its toll on my duties as your minister

so when the new church is built

I will not be coming back as your pastor.

Let us bow our heads in prayer.

Heavenly father please help us to understand.

You know I've been wondering...

if I die in the next few days

which is every likelihood that I might,

I would like the satisfaction of knowing that I said my say

in a place like this.

You see I don't know any teaching of Jesus that

makes one kind of man less worth saving than another.

Do any of you?

I've been in town for a few days trying to find a job

and it all that time I have not heard a single word of comfort

or sympathy except from your minister

who said he was sorry for me and hoped

that I could find a job somewhere.

I understand you all can't go out of your way

and hunt up jobs for other people

but what puzzles me

is what does it mean to follow Jesus?

You sit in a church and you talk about following Jesus

and you sing songs about it but do you even mean

that you're are suffering and denying yourselves

the way he did?

Are you really following his examples?

Would he even have considered aiding

in the destruction of the church so a casino could be built

in its place?

Would he take bribes from corrupt officials

and run graphic tabloid photographs in his paper?

And would he use his God given talents

in a way that would lead young people astray.

Would he throw others out of the street

just so he could make a buck?

Would he abandon his congregation and his community

at the most crucial time

because of his own personal issues?

What would the world be like today if everybody tried

to act as Jesus did?

So what really is the lesson here?

When you find yourself struggling

with life's difficult decisions,

ask yourself one simple question:

What would Jesus do?

[coughs]

He's got a pulse.

Somebody call a doctor.

Where's the doctor?

He left.

How's he doing?

Well he's resting.

The doctor says he's a sick man,

probably in his final stages of cancer.

Should we get him to a hospital?

No the doctor is doing some more tests.

He says there's probably nothing we can do for him.

I just want to keep him here,

let him rest and make him as comfortable as possible.

Why don't we go?

Oh well I don't see you for months

and then twice in one week.

What brings you here to see me?

That thing in church the other day

is really messing with me.

Yes well a thing like that can be very traumatic.

The doc says it doesn't look very good for him.

It's like this overwhelming emptiness,
